I was hoping for it to be a really short-lived show, one season, two TOPS. It's the kind of show I don't want to see jumping the shark, just like LOST.

Depends, this could just be the first arc in what could be many stories. I mean, when you're dealing with heroes and people with powers, the story ideas could go on for quite some time.
Realisticaly though, I see it lasting for 3-4 seasons.

I'd say 4 or 5

3 or 4 good seasons ... tops. After that it's all crap that makes you think "damn! wtf happened to this once great show."

well the whole reason to why it will last is there are more heroes out there that we dont know of.
evidance is on sylars version of mohinders map.
so maybe in future seasons well meet more and more heroes and eventualy there will be an even bigger threat to man kind.
im guessing a good 2-3 seasons

they could even wipe out all the current heroes and introduce new characters and a new storyline. the possibilities are endless, really.
maybe this is just the first storyarc, who knows

what some people dont understand is that smallville is a better example than heroes. smallville in theory should have less seasons than heores. but we all know the truth.

Explain?
And I don't see how LOST could jump the shark. They established pretty early on that it was going to be pretty trippy and wholly unbelievable things were going to be happening on a regular basis.

I heard in a intereview or maybe somebody was just saying it on some forums that they already have Plotlines through Season 3 planned. If the Rattings continue to do good it could go through 3 seasons. Right now I'm more worried about it getting a Season 2 than how long it will go.

When did Lost jump the shark?
Third season. With all those extra survivors coming out of nowhere and more mysteries.
Smallville is another example. Every season ends with a HUGE cliffhanger that almost changes everything, and then all goes back to more of the same in the next season.

I hope this show lasts a good long time like many of sci fi's shows have. Like 5 seasons at least.
Introducing more characters with different powers would be a great idea for season 2. I think new characters could have powers like shape shifting, superspeed running, super strength, or birdlike vision? Anyone else have ideas on other powers they could use in this show?

What makes this different than a show like Lost is that Lost has to operate in their concept. The people can't get off the island that's the show.
With Heroes you can take it to all sorts of places.

I want it to last until it gets stale.
Realistically, all the 'heros' are just now getting their powers, or being able to understand their powers. And looking at Sylars map, there's been tons that have had powers already. Chances are theres going to be tons more. Hell, they could have the bomb drop in NY, then a new batch of 'heros' go after the guy that was responsible for it.
Wouldn't that make for an awesome season 1 ending?

This is not a comic book, is a TV series with TV mentalities. I guess they'll do their best to keep Wolverina as the main starlet of the whole series and ditch Hiro at the first opportunity.

Hiro is the fan favorite right now, I see no way NBC ditches him.

Hiro rocks! Probably because he is a comic geek who gains powers. Just like what most of us hope and dream.

everyone likes him because he believes in his powers and trys to help people with them, that and what JTIZZLEVILLE said

Whoah, calm down. ;) :oldrazz:
I would think the show going to 4 seasons is a good number. And Hiro IS the show right now, I assume the other characters find their feet soon but he is pretty much propping up the show.

1 season. I just dont see this show going any longer, maybe ytwo seasons tops, but even then, i think it'll turn into crap.Well, it's already been renewed for a full second season, and with its current ratings, I don't see it getting scrapped anytime soon.
It's actually pretty fortunate for the show that it's on NBC, which has had a pretty significant ratings slump for like, the past 2 years or more... so any show that's doing well is like GOLD on NBC, whereas it might have already been cancelled on Fox (snicker).
Still, I agree with the comic-aspects of it. So long as they don't try and measure out some large, huge, 10-season long plot, and keep it in fairly small story arcs, I don't see any reason that Heroes couldn't last as long as Stargate SG-1 did.
