Not really sure what you mean. The main series is on the DS. I think most would agree that HeartGold and SoulSilver (remakes of Gold and Silver from the GBC) are the best in the franchise. Nintendo looks like they're starting from scratch with these like they did with the GBA games (Ruby/Sapphire).

Subscribing. Finally got a DSI XL (and loving it), and Pokemon Heart Gold. So maybe, eventually I'll get to a point where I can mess with the online stuff with you guys. I spent a bit messing with all the DSI functions first. Then once I figured out the Pokewalk, and since I was a bit busy, I just caught pokemon and stopped before I walked to the first gym town. Then messed with my Pokewalker for a day, and cheated a bit by tapping it on my leg while I watched a movie lol. I ended up getting a Khangaskhan, Pontya, Magby, and Onix before I even left the first town (not counting your hometown). Loving the idea of taking your Pokemon with you tamagachi style (not that I enjoy tamagachi style raising and feeding cutsey pets, but battling and finding items for a retail game on the go is awesome lol).
I'll have to catch up on Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum a bit later (prob just buy Platinum after I finish Gold). I'm finicky about my pokemon team tho, and when I found out you could get 9 of the starters in one game I spent awhile trying to figure out who I wanted to start with. For the first time ever I'm starting with a water pokemon (because water types are so abundant in all Pokemon games, I like grass, and fire types are a bit more rare), so I can justify getting Charizard and Sceptile later. So guess for the first gym I'll be running Totodile, Khangaskan, Magby, Hoothoot, Spinarak, and Sentret (Hoothoot and Sentret mainly because I get so tired of running Pidgey and Rattattatatatat's).
Got a long way just to get used to all the new moves and pokegear and such lol. So any contribution I'll be giving in the thread will probably be lightyears behind what you guys already know lol, so sorry in advance.

Nintendo has demanded sites like Serebii and Pokebeach take down ALL game images (sprites, screenshots, etc) since it's their intellectual property and could damage their image (let's do it all together... :whatever::whatever::whatever:)
Anyway, I still have the page of Serebii up from a few days ago. I also got pics of sprites from another site. I'll try to do some stuff with them tonight or Wednesday.
Also, the Pseudo-legendary that starts out as a one-headed dragon with a mop-top, then two-headed, then a big nasty Hydra doesn't evolve to stage 1 until level 50 and stage 2 until level 64
That is going to be a ***** to raise. In SoulSilver, I gave all my Pokemon the eggs to gain EXP faster and I think they just hit level 65.
Brainiac 8
09-20-2010, 01:51 PM
To be fair to Nintendo though, Pokebeach admitted to using an illegal Rom to get their images, and Serebii alluded to the fact that they were too (by mentioning the leveling glitch, which was put in place to spot pirated copies by Nintendo) so it was less about the sprites and more about the free advertising the sites were doing for pirating Nintendo's software.

Maybe if Nintendo didn't leave everywhere outside of Japan in the dark on this information, sites wouldn't be using ROMs to get it. Seriously, why does Nintendo have this embargo on Pokemon info? Everything we've gotten has been from Japanese magazines and shows. Make a site like they did for Brawl and release new info every day.
Brainiac 8
09-20-2010, 03:12 PM
I'm guessing because we technically won't get any word on a release till later in the year. If it follows the pattern set by every Pokemon since the red/blue era, we'll get a release in or around March.
But either way, they should have just waited until the release in Japan sometime in the next couple of weeks, and saved themselves a lot of hassle.
Whether Nintendo are frugal with info like this or not, they deserved to get smacked down for pirating the games just to get the info out before anyone else.

Got the sprites off another site. Added their names, types, and any other necessary notes. I was going to add numbers for all of them but I just added them for the first and middle pokemon of each row. I might go back and add them later.

Thanks. Tho I didn't realize before that the DS Pokemon required your router security to be WEP. So currently thinking on if I want to make my internet connection less secure to get online with Heart Gold lol. I really want to evolve my Magby to his new (for me) form (Magmotar isn't it?) at some point, same with Elekid.
I'm really enjoying the new generation Pokemon games so far tho, a major step up in features. Currently my team is Croconaw, Dratini, Elekid, Magby, Murkrow, and Machop. Thinking about dropping Machop tho, even tho he's good, I've ran him thru sooo many Pokemon games. They're all lvl 18, and about to face Whitney.

Yeah, been forever since I played the old gold/silver/crystal games. I had almost forgot about that pain in the ass lol. I beat her tho, and switched Machop out after the fight for Dratini.
I also went ahead and changed to WEP to set up Nintendo Wi-fi. At first I was like :awesome:, then :csad:, then :awesome: again + an :hrt: :wow:, lol. When I first got on I thought it was awesome that for a portable game it had a lot of neat online features. Then I looked through the trade lists and everything...everything, from a level 1 Caterpie, to a level 4 Pidgey was in trade for a legendary. So was kinda disappointed to see the entire thing flooded with unbelievably lopsided trades.
Then it got all kinds of awesome tho. I did the pokeathlon and got a Metal Coat (read up on it, wanted one, and tricked the DS into thinking it was Friday). I was trying to figure out if I could trade online with myself to evolve a Scyther into a Scizor. So I put him up with the Metal Coat for something no one would grab him for just so I could keep him online for a sec. Then I thought I'd look for him through seek, and came across a 36 Bulbasaur being traded for any Kadabra. So I grabbed one of the two Abra's I had in my box quick, leveled him up 6 levels fast, traded and got a Bulbasaur (which was the first pokemon I tried way back on Gameboy, and one of my faves), then tried to take Scyther back and he evolved too lol.
I've looked it up since and learned about the solo GTS self evolve trick. At the time tho I didn't know it, so was awesome to get those two like that just for a little Abra leveling. Of course I don't want a level 36 Bulbasaur on my team (especially given I'm around level 20 with only a handful of badges lol), especially not with Japanese lettering for a name, so going to look into breeding one and raising it if I can (I have a ditto, believe that still works).
Spidey-Bat
09-23-2010, 08:42 AM
Yeah, the GTS you get a lot of people wanting legendaries for crap. I haven't used it at all for SoulSilver. I dislike that you can't even see what people want. I had a bunch of Growlithes from breeding and I would have liked to trade them, even for Bidoofs, since they've just gone to my box.

You know, I had stopped playing Pokemon after Diamond/Pearl... but reading that review I'm kinda excited to try out Black/White. I guess if I got with some of you that really get into it that could help me enjoy it. I never really get to enjoy trading, questing, etc. because none of my gamer friends try out Pokemon. They're all Halo this and Call of Duty that. But I think talking with you guys about the quest, gym matches, etc. could help me really get into/enjoy the game.

I'm liking the design's I'm seeing so far for B&W. Anymore the design's are hit or miss. Generation 1 was the best IMO as everything had a pretty solid design. Generation 2 I think was pretty solid but started tossing in the goofy Pokemon with hats and udders in your face. I think Gen 3 was a step back in the right direction, all 3 of the starters were better asthetically than Cyndaquil and Bayleef (IMO), and pokemon like Sharpedo just looked awesome. Now that I'm getting into the 4th gen new pokemon, it's kinda a mixed bag on designs for me. Bidoof has got to be the most retarded looking pokemon ever, and his evolution is even worse, but Buiziel (however you spell it), and Shinx look cool. B&W looks like it's leaning towards the solid cool designs again (outside of the water starters first form...creepy little sob).
I stopped short of beating Red in Heart Gold to mess with Platinum a bit (maybe transfer over a few Pokemon I like for the big battle from P to HG). Currently have Feraligatr, Dragonite, Magmotar, Electrivire, Scizor, and a Dragon Dance Larvitar I'm leveling up, but might want to use some of the newer pokemon once I get used to them. Was going to go with Charizard and use my Alakazam, but I always use Abra and his evolutions as my psychic, and I went thru Fire Red with Charizard, wanted to try something new.
Edit - Also, are Bulbasaur's like crack to Japanese players? I bred a bunch of Bulbasaur's awhile back, and I've been getting a bunch of good trades over wi-fi for them. Like a Charizard, Wartortle, Hitmonlee, and the other 2 Johto starters all from Japanese players wanting Bulbasaur's. Also forgot what a ***** breeding can be. I wanted a Tyranitar with Dragon Dance, it took 18 eggs to get a female Charmander finally (so have a box full of regular Charmander babies, and a few with Dragon Dance), and then bred some Dragon Dancing Larvitars after that which took forever to hatch. Guess I mainly brought it up because now I have a bunch of extra's, if anyone wants a Charizard and aren't picky about their personalities just let me know (tho I'm sure you guys probably already have them, but just in case).

Question, do you have to beat the 3rd gym leader in Platinum to get to Solaceon town? I just traded a Combee for a female Chimchar over wifi, and was looking to see if there was a Piplup up for trade so I could have all 3 starters. There was one up holding a master ball, but up for male Chimchar. So I thought I'd breed a few Chimchar's fast and trade for it, but wasn't sure where the Daycare center was. I looked it up and saw it was in Solaceon town, but there are two guys blocking the path to it, and I've only beaten 2 gym leaders so far. The Piplup is probably gone by now so that's no biggie (was more wanting the masterball as the last dog legend I need in Entei is giving me trouble in Heart Gold catching it, and I can just use wifi to transfer the Masterball from my Platinum to Heart Gold), but I would like to breed my Chimchar so I can raise one as soon as I can since the one I traded for is over 30, with the rest of my Pokemon around 22.
Also got a Gible. I typically always have one dragon type in my final party from that generation, and I saw a lot of ppl in love with Garchomp (think that's the name, saw that name pop up a lot). So was nice to find out I could find it's lowest level form earlier than I could Dratini or Bagon in the others.
Edit - Heh, sorry if updating my status in game for no reason seems like rambling. Just so far behind you guys and all of this is new to me lol.

Alright thanks. As for Piplup, don't worry about it. I appreciate the offer, but I'm in no big rush for one.
Truth be told, my first time thru I like to try and play with what Pokemon I can catch. I typically don't pick water pokemon since they're incredibly abundant, and I'm just not an overall fan of Piplup anyway. It was mainly a 2 birds with one stone deal because of Piplup + a master ball. I mainly got Chimchar because I was so conflicted over Turtwig and Chimchar. More often than not I choose a grass type just because I like them (tho I've really warmed up to fire starter types, no pun intended, so it's close), but after I started Platinum I looked it up and looks like new fire types are few and far between. So figured better to use a Chimchar than a Ponyta.

Import Review
http://www.gamekult.com/tout/jeux/fiches/J000103183_test.html
The fifth Pokemon generation does not rest on its laurels. At the risk of changing its habits, the game loses in labor what it wins in scenario, that is to say a plot closer to traditional RPG. Lets not expect a saga like Fallout , but the adventure is an opportunity to quite a revolutionary rebalance which will surprise the fans of the series, allowing the newcomers to fight more or less on an equal footing. Among the revolutions, we can mention the disappearance of old creatures, the trade mode focusing on online community to play footsy with Facebook and Farmville via the Pokemon Global Link website, not to mention the physical encounters with the C-Gear , a device that fills the screen below allowing to manage in real-time the random encounters with other players in passive mode. More balanced, very complete, without being naive and packed with silly humor and other double registers, Pokemon Black & White is a true success that reach to satisfy kids and grown ups. This, in our time is a challenge. The jRPG of the year, certainly.
+ perfectly balanced
+ perfect controls
+ quality writings
+ comfortable interface
+ the extensive interaction with the community website
+ so rich you're gonna cry
- Hi-Link mode a little disappointing
- some monsters have lazy design
- Pokemon Global Link regular maintenance

Ok cool. I don't have to worry about not cashing them in. Just got my Mew.

Awesome to see Black and White getting good reviews.
Pokemon is the only JRPG that I'm even a bit interested in.

Arrived in the city with the 6th Gym Leader (has an airport). Had to get through Electric Rock Cave (a big old cave). The Electric Eel Pokemon I wanted is only found here and its appearance rate is 2-8% (took me hours to find it and still an additional hour to get through the cave).
Finally evolved Baoppu into Baokki (Fire Monkey).

I'm not really a fan of raising legendaries either, but gotta admit, that level 5 Mew is tempting lol.
As far as fires getting the shaft, they do, but I think it makes them more special for it. Water types are just everywhere, and usually get a lot of new types every game.
Grass types, I'm just fond of the starters usually. Budew and it's evolutions, Oddish and it's, Exeggcute, and so on I just don't care for. Outside of the odd cool looking, but bad stats one like Cacnea, or Bellsprout, I typically one take one very early on if I pick a fire starter. The grass starters tho I'm fond of, well other than Chikorita.
Fire types are low in numbers, but make up for it with solid species later on. Growlithe/Arcanine is still one of my favorites, and thanks to later games the Magmar line became pretty good. Even tho he wasn't the greatest, I liked Torkoal a lot too. Marcargo is pretty much the only fire type I can think of that was just lousy all around.
So I usually don't mind starting with a grass type and waiting til a bit over mid way thru the game to get something like Growlithe. It kinda heightens my eagerness for one. Then again it's all beginning to become a mute subject with wi-fi trades. After the Gameboy color phases I pretty much just buy one Nintendo handheld. Meaning I'm stuck with one starter. With the newer games I'm finding it to be cake to get all 3 starters very early on with a bit of searching thru unfair trades. Tho at the same time my first time around I kinda prefer not to get all starters and instead use what I catch, otherwise I'm not switching things around as I go and instead stuck with the same team the entire game.

I updated the list I made. Included when they evolve and version they're in. Only caveat is 588-589 and 624-625 don't have evolution info up yet.
http://img807.imageshack.us/img807/7618/pkmnbwsprites2.png
Finally taking a good look at the list. Despite liking Emboar's final stage, I'm tired of fire/fighting types (3 generations in a row), and I do like Baokki, and Hihidaruma, so no fire starter this time (outside of wi-fi trading). Also again no to the water starter, despite a cool 3rd evolution, the other water types look cool and are always abundant. So guess I'm going with Tsutjara, in no small part in not caring for the other grass types. Sad thing is, anymore I put my grass types up for the elite 4 and on. They're typically either too slow, or easily picked off by the elite 4 ice trainer (tho Torterra is looking to break that rut I've been in with grass type starters since generation 2). The positive being that Tsutjara looks to take after the speedier Sceptile than the bland Meganium meaning it could get a move off before getting an icebeam to the face.
If the replacement pokemon stay in order I guess Minezumi, Mamepato, and Kurumiru will be my first catches. I'll probably abandon the bug as soon as I evolve him like usual and pick up the electric zebra.
As for who I'm really liking the look of, Doryuuzu (ground/steel), might be similar to Aggron. The fighting type looks ok, but I rarely keep a Machamp like 'mon on my team. Oddly enough Gamageroge (water/ground), Abagoora (water/rock), and Shibirudon (electric) catch my eye (I say oddly because I dislike their early stages, but like their final forms and types). Obviously going to pick Ononokusu...because I always use the big bad pseudo-legend dragon of a new generation.
Past that I'm really liking the ground/dark gator Warubiaru, I like that type combination and look (plus psychic and electric immunity). Which sadly puts Zoroak out, he looks awesome, but don't want 2 dark types. Pendoraa looks like a beast, but pairs bug, my most hated type outside of Scyther, and Poison my second most hated outside of Venusaur, Seviper, Drapion, and somewhat Croagunk. I might also pick up that ice bear Tsunbeaa. I'm also liking Sazando, but that'd be 2 dragons and darks, but still a maybe. I was also about to say Randorosu (flying type immune to electric attacks is always nice), but he looks legendary.

I've a Baokki on my team. The Elemental Monkeys aren't that great. Unevolved, their stats are horrid. But you can't evolve them too soon, or they won't gain any of their later moves; even those moves aren't that great, to be honest. Once they are evolved, they have far bettter stats, but lack of good moves, and just above average stats make them mediocre.
Hihidaruma has retardedly () high ATK, and great Speed. It learns some great physical moves, and its Pokemon ability makes its damage output stellar. Of course, its defense are painfully low. It can barely survive neutral damage attacks, so anything supper-effective will OHKO it. Hihi is still better than Baokki.
Ononokusu isn't the pseudo-legendary of BW, Sanzando is. Its stat total is the same as the other Pseudos (Dragonite, Metagross, Tyranitar, Salamence, Garchomp), its aquired super late in the game, and it takes forever to evolve. Ononokusu is like an uncommon Dragon. But I'm just being a a-hole right now. Onono does have the highest ATK stat of most Dragons, that's amazing.
I'm also conflicted between using Warubairu and Zoroark. Z'Ark has some killer potential, and its Illusion ability can easily disrupt the opponent's strategy, but since I had no way of getting either Z'Ark or Zorua, I settled on Warubairu, and have gotten more than familiar with it. On the other hand, its weaknesses are too common and too easy to exploit. I guess I have until Spring to make up my mind, but between those two, I can't fully decide.

Have you noticed if battles are more common than in other games? All of these pokemon evolve so damn late. It's pretty ridiculous how so many don't reach stage 1 until level 40.
WolfCypher

The battles are pretty much the same as far as the number of trainers go. In some areas (Electric Rc]ock Cave, the desert) the trainers are seemingly never-ending (to compensate, some opponents will heal your team). Wild encounters are crazy. I can't take 2 steps without running into a wild Pokemon (or 2).
This game puts VERY...LITTLE...EMPHASIS on HM moves!!!!!!!! They don't force you to carry an HM slave, since the need for stuff like Cut and Strength, these instances are very rare! You can get far into the game before you'll ever need to actually use an HM (Surf is always optional, as there are no sea routes that your forced to travel), hell, even the Pokemon League only requires Strength (NO WATERFALL HM NEEDED!).
TMs are hella rare. I got past my 4th Gym before I realized I've only acquired less than 8 TMs (there are about 90 in the game). I guess since there are reusable, they made TMs hard to come by.

I'm glad to hear HM's take a back seat. I thought it was ridiculous that I have to bring an HM whore to fight Red in Heart Gold. Toughest fight of the game and you have to use atleast 1 HM to reach him.
Meanwhile finally getting somewhere in Platinum again lol. I stopped for awhile trying to get my Riolu egg to be female, and after resetting and trying again a ridiculous amount of times I said screw it, settled on a Brave proud of it's power male, boosted his speed with EV training (which I'm not very good at lol). I was mainly wanting the ability to breed whatever Lucario I want, but can wait on a ditto.
Right now my team is Infernape (flame wheel, fire blast, close combat, grass knot), Lucario (still low in level, drain punch is his only decent move), Torterra (wood hammer, giga drain, earthquake, and synthesis), Drapion (poison jab, night slash, accupressure, toxic spikes), Gabite (earthquake, dragon claw, fire blast, sandstorm), and Empoleon (Ice beam, brine, flash cannon, and stealth rock). All around 43 (except Lucario), about to fight the 6th gym. I was thinking about switching Torterra for Abomasnow (to keep grass and add an ice type since Torterra's ground type is redundant with Garchomp's), but after looking him up Abomasnow looks kinda sucky in stats and weaknesses :(. I also want to replace Empoleon as I just find him boring, but not wanting to use water pokemon I've used before like Gyarados or Starmie, if anyone has advice for a suitable replacement 4th gen replacement pokemon for Empoleon.
Edit - How's Mamoswine? I looked him up, when I think Ice moves I think S. Atk, but it's his Atk that's through the roof. Plus he has a ton of weaknesses, only 1 resistance, and 1 unaffected. However threads about him seemed positive when I skimmed through a few from google.

Heh, I bred like 12 Swinubs, and then decided just to stick with Empoleon. He's a good 'mon, I just think I'm water pokemon'd out. Plus I rarely take Ice pokemon with me (haven't since FR LG Lapras for a bit). I spent some heart scales tho, redid some moves, evolved Gabite to Garchomp, and now am feeling much better.....now what to do with the two boxes full of Swinubs, Chimchars, Croagunks, Skorupis, and Piplups I have lol.
Edit - Plus I do like the occasional team shake up rather than using the same six from start to finish. Still hurts tho *sniff* when you no longer have room for a good pokemon heh. Kicking out my adamant Staraptor that I got on my second catch in Platinum (after a Bidoof...ugh) was a pretty tough decision.
Double Edit - Just caught my first shiny pokemon ever lol, a green eared Clefairy. Got it on the first throw with no dmg (was afraid to attack it considering the lvl gap) with a fitting premiere ball.

Finally beat the pokemon platinum league. Now deciding if I want to just beef up against the Elite 4, or mess around a bit. I heard after you get Heatran that the Elite 4 buff up, and my 'mon are still setting around lvl 56.
Also nice when the GTS actually works in your favor lol. Was able to get a lvl 1 Spiritomb holding a masterball for my Mantyke (aside from the MB being a great free item, was that I was thinking of replacing Drapion with Spiritomb since Drapion's not cutting it so well anymore). Then got a Feebas for one of my zillion swinubs lol. Then remembered I could catch Ditto's now and my first two catches were a modest and adamant (I remember hearing there's a way to transfer natures of the parent over, so thinking modest Milotic to replace my Empoleon).
Also thinking about buying another DS, maybe just a cheap one so I can transfer all of my Pokemon over. Thinking about restarting Heart Gold while I wait for Black & White, and transfering over a baby whatever pokemon I feel like having on the team at that moment rather than using caught pokemon this time around.
I also need to remember to beat Red still on HG before I restart because I quit on it for a bit in the middle of training a Pupitar so I could play Platinum. So haven't even gotten the Hoenn starter yet.

Well I meant like a cheap 2nd hand one I use just for trading and such, not another DSI XL. I've seen DS's for $40 locally on Craigslist, so less than a new game. I would hold off on a new 3DS, but I'm not sure that having just gotten into DS that I'm ready to be a first day buyer of the 3DS, and also not sure I want to wait that long to have the ability to transfer everything over and restart again if I feel like it. Especially if I buy Black, and then they come out with Grey a bit after with all the bells and whistles, and I want to transfer everything to it.

When the Gameboy Advance came out me and my friend were excited because we got a Link Cable for it and we could finally trade between our Pokemon Red and Blue games. We thought it would work, after all the GBA can play the games right? Nope, it couldn't be done. You needed a special Link Cable to do so, something I didn't find out until years later.

I thought I'd try out a few of the pokemon evolutionary lines I skipped before that got new evo's in gen IV. Namely Gallade and Rhyperior (I have played with Magmar and Electrabuzz back in gen 1 and even got Electrivire and Magmotar in HG, but never cared for the Ryhorn line and never raised a Gardevoir). I was kinda team shuffling around, and put up Torterra, Drapion, and Empoleon for an Adamant Rhyperior, pain split Spiritomb (which I have a few extra of), and a bold sleep talk surf/ice beam Milotic. Things were working out great, did EV training, got all of the natures and moves I wanted, until I noticed I had 0 water counters, which worried me more when I was trying to think what would happen if I went up against a Gyarados lol. So decided to replace Infernape with a thunderpunch Adamant Gallade with attack and speed EV's. Now I just have to go thru the long and boring process of leveling everything up :(. Gotta say tho, I'm liking the changes. Even at lvl 27 Gallade is at 100 attack, and despite their slow, slow speeds, Rhyperior and Spiritomb can take hits and give them back even harder.
Two side notes, decided to get a Macho Brace in Platinum finally to speed up EV training...getting a female Combee is a *****. Took forever to get one. Second, while I was breeding for a male Adamant Ralts I ended up with a female Adamant. So I thought I'd try the everstone trick with breeding, didn't work so well lol. Took a ton of eggs to finally get an adamant male. Reason I bring it up tho is because I also bred a Jolly I believe it was (minus special attack plus speed) male Ralts while I was at if, which I've seen ppl say is good for a Gallade as well. So if anyone wants it just let me know.

Question, is there anyway to tell if a pokemon you got on the GTS is legit or not? I heard once (not sure if true or not, just want to be cautious) that breeding with a hacked pokemon could produce a bad egg which could corrupt your save file.
Reason I ask is 3 part. First I was trading a level 44 Skorupi back and forth inbetween my HG and Platinum game a bit back to transfer a few items over, and was doing so for my Platinum's Garchomp (which was 50 up at the time). Thinking no one would trade a Garchomp for a Skorupi. When I tried to trade I noticed he was gone, got back on HG and noticed someone had traded a Garchomp for him, it was exactly level 50, with PKRS, and had moves you'd expect to find on a wild Garchomp (like dig).
Second time was when I traded for a Metagross, I got one, but it was level 54 and only knew takedown. Which I know Metagross's first stage can learn only that move, but not sure how a lvl 54 Metagross has only that.
Third was recently when I just for the heck of it I put one of my female pain split Spiritomb's up for a Manaphy over night, not expecting anything, and when I checked the next day someone had traded a shiny level 35 Manaphy for it.
I guess I was more asking if you guys thought it was ok if I breed one of them, as I didn't want to take the chance. Also just thought I'd offer, I taught a Smeargle morning sun and flare blitz and plan on breeding them into a Growlithe eventually if anyone wants one when I do. When I start Heart Gold over I was planning on a morning sun Growlithe, breeding the above Metagross, and also having a Larvitar, Evee (prob for a Jolteon or Vaporeon), and a Bagon (since I have 60 plus Garchomp and Dragonite, to complete the collection lol) as my starting team. Getting that Smeargle ready tho made me realize how awesome it is for breeding, never tried it before. I was wanting morning sun, and thought the only option was a lvl 71 Espeon, which was out of the question. When I found out that with next to no effort I could challenge the couple below Solaceon Town and teach it morning sun with a lvl 20 Beautifly, it was :hrt: (didn't hurt that I could tack flare blitz on via my Infernape so I didn't have to wait forever to evolve Growlithe.)

So was wondering if anyone could either trade a Groudon over to me quick, and then trade right back so I'd have a Pokedex entry. Or be willing to trade a Groudon flat out. I started over so and traded a lot of pokemon over to Platinum beforehand, so I'll have doubles of Kyogre, Mewtwo, the 3 Birds and Beasts if that sounds better (would be willing to trade a few for a Groudon if that's what one of you want to do).

Gotcha, and thanks anyway. Since I just started over more recently, I have a long way to go before I even hit the point where I need a Groudon. So I'm in no rush.
Gotta admit, despite it being a ton of work, I'm really enjoying breeding a team for starting over. I saved before I hatched the eggs, hatched them to make sure it's what I wanted, the transfered everything to my new game. That way after hatching they showed my new game as the original owner.
I ended up with an adamant morning sun and flare blitz growlithe, an adamant beldum, an an adamant dragon dance/stone edge/earthquake larvitar, a wish and ice beam vaporeon, and a modest togekiss. My only iffy one was a naive bagon. I wanted a mixmence, so naive boosts speed while leaving both attack stats from dipping down, however I didn't even give him any breed moves other than dragon claw. I was also planning a spore breloom, and Ursaing or Zangoose (just because I like them, but have never used them), but never got around to it.The main downside is they take forever to level lol. I do look forward to when they hit 65 so I can pit them against my Platinum team heh. Well that, and that I'll have to transfer them back to Platinum to feed them EV reducing berries and redo their stats later on.
Edit - Sorry if practically writing an essay on what I'm currently doing in game annoys anyone, not sure why I type so long winded lol. Guess it's mainly because I won't have much to contribute thread wise until I get my hands on a copy of Black.

No worries. I'm sure most people are like me and just Pokemon'd out. I played Diamond a **** ton 2 years ago, then was playing SoulSilver a lot when it first came out. With Black shortly around the corner, I feel like I need a break.

They're shiny versions. You need one of the dogs to unlock Zoroark and the upcoming Celebi to unlock Zorua.

Which sort of reminds me when are we going to get a Pokemon game with all 646 Pokemon?
I think most people would sacrifice not having new Pokemon introduced in the next entry if they decided to just do a new story and whatnot and introduce new evolutions maybe but include all the Pokemon and make some only available on the opposite version and vice versa.
Don't know why they haven't done this yet. Not enough processing power to make a big enough world to hold all of them maybe?

I'd mind. The only reason I play these games IS to play with the new Pokémon. Why else have I put up with the same story formula, the same cliché evil organizations, the same "8 gyms and Eltie Four" goals...Granted, BW does a lot of new stuff, but all these games are the same things over and over.
Only thing that draws me back is the promise of hole new Pokémon species. Seriously, since each generation usually stays relevant for 5-6 years, it would suck big time if after waiting 5-6 years with the then-recent Pokémon, we get another new Gen, and the Pokémon are NOT new. Then we'd have to go another whole generation with the same faces, the same Pokémon we'd been using for the last 4-5 generations and nothing new was added. The story will always be the same formula, so at the very least, give us some new Pokémon.
BW did the best thing by letting you transfer all your old Pokémon into the newest games, so you still have access to the older species, while also getting newer ones. Plus, the Dream World has all of the Pokémon anyway.

Diamond, Pearl and Platinum did a very good job of having a lot of Pokemon be catchable in-game, after you've beaten the Elite Four of course.
But I do miss the days of Red and Blue when just having those two games meant you could have them all.

Sorry. I didn't know I wasn't allowed to use my time, money, and/or resources any way I wanted, including acquiring a game I wanted, regardless of its availability. Guess when an opportunity falls into my lap, like seeing a movie weeks in advanced, getting money for nothing, or getting something I want early, I should pass on it. Lord knows YOU would turn down a chance to play or experience something you want. Guess that makes you feel elite.

it's not like seeing a movie weeks in advance... you're missing out on the story, and possibly other things that make the game more worth the money. I'd rather get what i pay for no matter how excited i am for something, so yes... i disagree with you and still don't see the point.
WolfCypher

Well, there were only two times I got stuck. Yes, there is a lot of text in this game, but the story was pretty easy for me to follow for two reasons. 1stly, very little feels lost in translation. Like the game makes it very obvious as to "what just happened, and what the commotion is about". 2ndly, I've been keeping tabs on this game before I got it. I visited Poké sites like Serebii and Bulbagardens before I got the game, and they kept no secret to what the game's major plot points were. Since I didn't care about spoilers, I pretty much knew everything in the game's plot before I went into it. So even if I did wait for the English release, I still would have known the story going in, the key plot twists, whatever.
And some things, if you don't want to wait for, and you can get early in some form, then why wait? I wanted these games, I had a chance to get one a month after its Japanese release, so I got it. Not the first time. Its not about feeling superior, because I'm a fan and I wanted to experience the game now, not torture myself for 8 months if I didn't have to.
Also, your early post made you sound like a jerk (to me at least), which resulted in my jerky-reply. Your later reply, thankfully, didn't come off that way.

i feel like the dialogue/text is an integral part of a rpg like pokemon. i always thought the series had witty dialogue.

Yeah I always liked it. The only time it was kind of 'meh' to me was in the original Gold and Silver. All that talk about "You believe pokemon are friends and thats why you win" and "your rival uses his pokemon only for winning and he doesn't care about his pokemon". It felt kinda dumb to me, dunno why

I always wondered if those guys ever talked to each other after those battles. "That sonofa***** brings a goddamn Charizard to a battle. The boss gave me a ****ing Zubat.....A ****ING ZUBAT!!!"

and ill never get your constant need to butt into convo's and fling insults when
A) it has nothing to do with you
B) was settled and discussed calmly and rationally before you made you're immature comment
First, it wasn't an insult. I myself still have my Marvel Legends figures in my room. Just saying some people would think it's a waste of money.
Second, this is a public thread. I'll reply to whoever I want and everyone else has that right, too. If it was meant to be a private conversation, it should have been in private messages.

Anyone try the Nuzlocke Challenge? I've been trying it in Fire Red with Charmander as my starter (the first time I've ever picked him)...has not gone well. I've failed like three times :o
