I was on this internet chat forum last night, and someone there said that Joss Whedon talked about the villain before. I never knew that!! What did he say exactly? :huh:

Whedon mentioned that he was creating his own villain for the film. That he wasn't using any villains from Wonder Woman's rogues gallery. The villain he's using has to do with Greek mythology. Also the original WW comic.

JW: Well the villains are of my own creation. I don't think Wonder Woman has the greatest rogues gallery in the world so I created someone of my own for her to come up against. It has to do with Greek mythology and the roots that the original comic was built on.

It depends on how serious the character will be taken. Some villains in DC are so cheesey that if you did treat them seriously in a film it make them seem even cheesier.

The only problem here is that Wonder Woman fanatics probably won't feel happy that they aren't using an actual comic character.

Well, if it's based upon Greek Mythology, then it would be fitting for Wonder Woman. I'm just wondering how based in Greek Mythology the villain will be.

If it has to do with the Titans being freed into the new world, the movie might come off being too much like the Disney version of Herculese.

Honestly... Whedon gave me one of my very favorite villains, the Nameless Assassain from Serenity. If he pulls something out of Greek Mythology on that level, then fine...

I do have a feeling that Whedon Woman is going to have a sort of 'adult Buffy' type feel to it, as far as they way we empathize with her... but hey... that's cool too.

I also hunch that the character will be, or will be directly related to (at least conceptually) a known figure in Greek Mythology, whether it be a Rogue Titan or a spurned child of Zeus. Or both. Heh. Yeah, I think it'll be something like that. Someone who's not Ares or Hades or the typically Modern Greek Mythology villain.

There are alot of great villanous figures in Greek Mythology to choose from. Nemesis, the assassin of the gods, would make a good footsoldier. Possible masterminds could be any of the Titans, Posidon, Hera, Achidna, Medusa, and many others.
