I think it would be cool to see Lana in one of the Supes sequels. maybe make the Lois/Richard/Clark(or superman depending on the way you look at it) either more or less intense. My idea would be to use Alicia Witt:

http://www.stuffmagazine.com/girls/alicia_witt/alicia_witt_l5.jpg

I saw her in vanilla sky and even though her part was small, I thought she did very well in it. I also think that she would look good with Routh too.

What do you think?

I don't like red heads, so I wouldn't cast one, no matter what the comics say!

Hmm... would you cast a blonde if they had to dye her hair red?

Um... Kristen Kreuk?

If they don't use her as a love interest, it doesn't matter... if they do, it's more about charisma than anything else...

Nothing wrong with Bryce Dallas Howard, but that 'superhero's second girl' schtick might get old. Nothing wrong with her though.

I actually like the exotic look that Smallville used for there interpretation of Lana Lang.....and thats all I like about that version of Lana Lang. Would I cast Kreuk. HELL NO. Would my Lana be anything like Smallville's. HELL NO. Smallville RUINED Lana Lang. I have always thought of Lana as the sweet girl, the girl next door, the girl I always wanted Clark to end up with. Combine that personality with an exotic look, thats f-ing gold.

Again, I don't care much for red heads, or blonds turned red heads. I know in the comics Lana is a red head, but screw it I don't think changing that up is a big deal.

My personal choice would be Emmanuelle Chriqui!

i love this idea because not only is she extremely hot and a good actress, she looks a lot like bosworth, lending into some interesting dynamics.

Lana Lang needs to be in the SR sequel. There is no way Superman stands a chance right now with getting back together with Lois Lane, it is a hopeless situation. She has moved on now so does he.

I don't have any ideas right now for casting but I like some of your guy's ideas. And I agree with Venom 420, redheads are usually never attractive.

That's an awesome idea! Though, I don't think it's that possibel considering she's in House. Shooting might interfere, no?

Morrison would be great. It would be funny as heck to see Clark dealing with 2 Bosworths.

Sadly, I havent seen a likeable version of Lana since the 80s Superboy series, so this would be welcomed.

No Lana Lang. Please no Lana Lang. Last thing that needs to be thrown in is an extra character that won't really do anything.

Actually, a good fix to the crapfest love story that really wasn't a love story, would be to bring Lana Lang in as the love interest for Clark/Superman.

Have some balls, Singer. Keep Lois with Richard. Sometimes, people let go of the one's they love and they never get them back. Cold facts of life. Use that metaphor for Superman and Lois. You dug your grave, lay it in b*tch. If I was forced to right a sequel to Returns, I would keep Superman and Lois apart, with there only common bond being Jason, and I would give Superman Lana. Go with what you set up Singer, show me you really do have a pair.

Have something happen between Superman and Lana.... and then Darkseid or Brainiac kills her, that'd be hot.

Clark and Lois could both lose Richard and Lana in the same film but I think Richard needs to live; they just need to split on mutual terms when Richard is offered a huge overseas job or something.

How about Rachel McAdams for Lana Lang?

I always thought she would be the better choice for Lois Lane cause let's be honest Kate was a TERRIBLE choice.
But Rachel McAdams could pull off the Lana role.. Infact she even reminds me a little of a young Annette O'Toole.

Rachel may have a good personality for Lois but it wouldnt have shown in Singer's film anyways any more than Kate's did, given the way the character was written. Thats why recasting Lois is pointless, they just need to write her a bit differently.

Just curious what you think about Lana being introduced. I figure with Lois and Richard still together, why should Clark be all lonely? :)

Lana could characterized as a contrast to Lois. Something that maybe Clark needs to be around at the moment imo. It would be interesting to me, don't know however if it would be too complicated with the triangle that's already going on.

Lana should come back with his son Ricky just to find out Ricky's Superman's son too.

I am not sure JC. I like the idea, but at the same time SR had such a screwed up and complicated triangle going on I don't know if it would work.

But the Ricky vs. Jason angle is interesting....no wait it isn't....I wasn't thinking.

Justice Bringer

It seems doubtful Richard and Lois will last beyond the next film so it may be unnecessary to complicate things with another girl.

Love triangles are confusing enough, I'd avoid love a rhombus.

LOL!

i'd usually welcome Lana but not for the next film. i feel that the SR barely established itself as a movie that could stand on its own, i want it to focus on that first, focus on the core characters and the story, one they got that down pat then they can start bringing in the other secondary characters.

They might use Lana if they show some more of Clark in Smallville, they have reference scenes in Batman vs Superman from the Asylum Script. I know they turned to this script as reference for Returns.

El Payaso

I thought Lana could be the one loving Clark for what he is, to balance Shallow Lane who despises Clark and loves the suit and the supe-powers.

Dr. Fate brings up an interesting point that is one serious problem with introducing Lana. As unlikable as Lois was, if you bring in Lana, there is a damn good chance she could steal the show and make Lois into an ANTAGONIST in the audiences eyes who want Clark with Lana.

Superman/Clark would have to be a dumbass to pass up a beautiful woman who knows his secret and loves him for his true self that grew up in SV.

Who's to say in the SR universe he even HAS to end up with Lois? I know that's the likely way the series will wrap up but why not introduce Lana who will spark something inside of Clark. Maybe it will even get Lois a little more curious about Clark? Meh. Bring on Lana I say!

I think that isn't a bad idea....Based on SR I really struggle to see how it could end up with Lois and Clark together in a believable fashion. Might as well bring on Lana. At least that might make the Lois/Clark angle interesting.

Only if it leads to something. The flashbacks in Superman Returns were poor because they had no relevence to the plot and lead to nothing. It was pretty much just to take up time.

Everyone jumped on the bandwagon that his flashback didn't make sense but I will be in the percentage that agrees with it having meaning.

He is returning home. He looks across the very same field he discovered his biggest power of all... FLIGHT

It brought back a memory where he discovered it by stopping just before hitting the ground through the barn.

KrypJonian

I don't think it would work for the SR-verse, but I bet someone said something similar to your first post before they made SIII.

If they could re-create the feeling of Clark and Lana from SIII, I'd be game.

Mister J
04-10-2007, 12:25 AM
Agreed about the flashback in the field. It was an early reflection of the gifts that would enable him to be Earth's greatest protector. As he had just returned 'home' and pondering his next move, recalling a more simpler time in his life seemed natural. I liked it. *shrugs*

Regarding Lana, I think her presence would truly complicate things. The Lois/Superman interaction was limited enough as it was and nothing is anywhere near resolved. There's still the matter of negotiating this messy ass triangle that presents the very real problem (to me, at least) of having Superman further inserting himself into an established family and ultimately fracturing it. Beyond that, there still needs to be a beyond-platonic dynamic established between Clark and Lois. Have Lana showing up and being all 'the perfect friend from back home/potential love interest' makes Lois that much more unlikeable and she was tolerable at best in SR.

I can't get on board with it not inevitably being about Superman and Lois at the end. Having Clark and Lana be focused on as a couple is something that should stay on Thursday night.

I would support it if they made it where Pete and Lana were married with children, and she indirectly helps Clark gain reflection on his life. Thats kinda what i liked about Lana in recent comic stories. Clark gained reflection of Clark/Kal-el/Superman. She doesn't need to be a love interest anymore.
