I bet hiro travelled back to ancient japan and trained to be a samurai, and also froze time to learn english.

That's actually quite a believable scenario. Only doubt I might have with it would for how long he could freeze time for.
Seriously though, it would be AWESOME if during an episode of the show, he blinks and starts speaking English, having done just what you said while nobody was looking.

If he freezes time to learn english...who is going to teach it to him? Does he just read a japanese-to-english dictionary until he gets it all down?

well it is shown that he can pick who to not freeze while the rest are time frozen. im sure if that scenario is true that he chose his friend to teach him english. since we were told and shown that he can speak english pretty well

Really? I don't remember him doing that...

He spoke to Flying Guy on the subway while everyone else was frozen.

True, but since Peter is a power mimic we don't know for sure if Hiro "unfroze" him or he just didn't freeze at all...

That seems like a neat idea. Though he could very well be a fast learner and just picked it up over the course of time.

Interesting theories....
Hiro is my favorite character so far. The Spider-Man / Peter Parker reference was classic in Episode 4...lol.

Did it look like he pushed the A-bomb explosion back???
no, he didn't push the explosion back, he just went back in time
and about Hiro learning english, in the previews we can see him starting to communicate with others in english, he seems like a pretty smart guy, he wouldn't have problem picking up english during his roadtrip through america

I don't think he could go back in time to train remember he was worried about causing a 'rift' from staying too long, when he was talkin to Peter on the train. It wouldn't give him much time to train and learn english. I'm sure it has more to do with coming back from future and hes just trying to alter it.... again...
Why would he have to freeze time to learn english, can't he just learn like everyone else, go to the flea market, pick up a cool sword and go back in time to deliver a message to peter? Yeah.
Hiro would be a very dangerous sword fighter:
Swords raised in mutual salute.
"Come at me with everything you have" says the opponent.
Hiro goes back in time and kills his grandma.
Hiro wins.

I think freezing time and stabbing his opponent would be fast and less work.
