No, actually there aren't. It's actually only 4, Pre-Crisis, Alternate World, Post-Crisis Matrix, and Post-Crisis Current.

The one on the bottom left is the original Pre-Crisis one in her first costume, her skirt's colored wrong, it should be blue.
The one above her is the Post-Crisis Matrix.
The hot pants one is again, Pre-Crisis, different costume *my favorite actually*
Then Post-Crisis Matrix Supergirl (Or Linda Danvers, I mix them up or wait...it was another revamp and the matrix merged with Linda).
Next to her is, again, the Pre-Crisis Kara in her last and final costume which she died in.

Honestly DC flubbed up on that.

They felt they needed some type of 'supergirl' to fill the void, and sadly they just contorted it more. I felt no excitment about this Supergirl emerging at all, just because we've already had 3 before her Post-Crisis.

And then retconning the others does nothing to make the slate any cleaner, just makes it more contorted. :csad:

The gist that I've gotten from the comics I've read is that her father DID send her to kill Kal as an infant and take his place? That he was an adult when she finally got to Earth was a mistake and not something pre-meditated. The constant "flashbacks" of her killing Kal leads one to believe that she was practically brainwashed to do the task and not just a "favor" her dad asked her to do.

Zor-El didnt want his brothers legacy to live on. He didnt want Jor-Els son to be the last son of krypton. He wanted his legacy to live on and have Kara be the last daughter of krypton so she could have that title all to herself.

But an interesting theory that someone from another board came up with is that there are currently two Supergirls in the DCU, one is from the Crime Syndicate Earth and that the two have been getting each others memories. Kara is getting her evil counterparts memories while the evil Kara is getting her memories.

Frankly I always liked that Supergirl was suppose to arrive before Kal-El and help raise him but it ended up turning the other way around.

Thats not completely right...their were a few pre-crisis version's of Supergirl that did not make it to this drawing.
The first debuted In Superman #123 on August 1958 Jimmy Olsen uses a magic totem to wish for a female companion and aid to Superman in his adventure's but this Supergirl keep's getting in Superman's way and almost get's killed protecting Superman from a Kryptonite meteor.Jimmy then wishes the dying girl out of existence.
An other Supergirl debuted cam out in 1960 in Superboy#78.The story was kind of funky.....Superboy save's an alien woman's life and to thank him she turns him in to a girl....Clark then call's himself Claire Kent an out of town cousin.While in costume he[she] call's herself Superboy's sister SUPERGIRL.As a girl he is looked upond as week and made fun of by men.By the end he find's out that it's all an illusion created by the alien and he learn's not to think of women as the weeker sex.

yes that was meant to be add- i just read it :woot::woot:. well at first she thought it was to babysit kal when he arrived and protect him but circumstances obviously changed. since luthor split her into good and evil and wonder woman put her back together these memories arrived- could they be lies by the evil half polluting her brain because the 'good' is in control. we will see in a few months

Before people get mad at Batgirls portayl, the issue obviously takes place before TT34 and just after/around the time Robin and WG kiss.

I thought it was a good issue, not great, but not bad and cringe worthy as many people will like to deem it once they get to typing.

The battle made perfect sense with Cassie hired to take out Supergirl and Cassie didnt even have to use Kryptonite to do it. And the big reveal at the end was a bit of a shocker. The guy has problems.

I find it extremely hard to believe that "Batgirl is this stupid.

Assasins pick and choose their targets (in general) and I'm thinking that she knows that Batman and company know where she is,.. so killing Supergirl would be a seriously stupid thing to pull off,.. ignoring the fact that this shuldn't have been a fight.
All the stuff she did to whoop the titan was not displayed here,... her powers were obviously still online because she grabbed the sword at one point with her hand.

And it's current canon that red sun energy doesn't remove a kyrptonians powers all it does is mask solar power absorbsion,.. same with cutting her,.. sumbody didn't do their homework.

I'm usually pretty willing to believe a lot of stuff (aside from magic. And no, hell no, can a human mind create something it cannot concieve, expressing an energy greater than the body could even take to create invisible hard structures ((Which doesn't make sense on it's own)) to do things that legitimately would break down the universe around it. That's why it's magic, because it doesn't HAVE to obey any laws) But red sun swords? Want an easy out? The energy in the swords would be so ungodly small, all Supergirl would have to do is stand outside to counter it.

I think we're supposed to assume that the red sunlight was hurting her eyes or something. Which doesn't actually make sense, 'cause all it should be doing is taking away her powers; it's not Kryptonite.

People in the DCU have created red sun lamps before, as well as red sun projectiles, and it worked plenty good on Superman. It probably doesn't take too much red sunlight to incapacitate these Superpeople. Otherwise, it would never be a feasible weakness. "Red sunlight renders them powerless, Luthor!" "...Great. Anyone happen to have a red sun around?"

I hate that red sun weakness. It makes so little sense. Kryponite (while still making little sense) makes tons more sense than red sun weaknesses. Especially since the yellow sun above pumps far more energy than smaller lamps and (god I hate saying this) swords could carry.

I take it back, some lamps have light brighter than direct sunlight. But they still have to be on top of the target.

Swords though?

Either way. Little or greater red sun energy, it would be drowned out by the yellow sun pouring on Earth. It's why you don't see that much flashlight light during the day. Hell, it's the opposite seasons on Earth just by which side is more pointed towards the sun.

Making a red light bulb, and literally reproducing the suns energy is a little different.

Turning it into a sword? A glass sword would break, and be an over heavy flashlight and diamond sword which would literally provide a buffer for red sun light more or less would still just be trumped by standard sunlight, and definitely given the fact that even if it IS diamond, it doesn't cancel out her powers. Would it dampen them? Sure, and then she'd break them on her way down, and crush the assailant. Assuming this is at night (get the idea I didn't bother to read this issue?) It might work. Depends on how far these wavelengths will go. "Forever!" Bull. The sun's energy only reaches us due to the IMMENSE amount of it's output. I mean, it's only like a million or so times the size of Earth and all.

But as I did admit, pseudoscience. So it doesn't matter really.

Ignoring the Nightwing thing (where his last Butt Whooping was when HE WASN't a part of the OUTSIDERS - Just explain three things:

1. If SUPERMAN can DIVE THRU A RED STAR pushing SUPERBOY PRIME,... because his Superpowers are described as him LOSING HIS POWERS IMMEDIATELY UNDER A RED SUN While SUPERMAN staying within his solar battery cannon is not harmed (as in cooked) going THRU A RED STAR LITERALLY THOUSANDS OF MILES ACROSS.

How are swords generating or emmiting not even a percent of a percent of such energy, (otherwise Batgurl needs a little more than oven mitts.), going to hurt,.. let alone cut a girl from the same place?

2. Even if caught completely by surprise why doesn't Supergirl go into what I would call "QuickTime" to catch a breather? C'mon,.. she operated like that with Powergirl, With Batman, with Wonder girl with Superboy,....Yet Sumbody tries to kill her and she stays in "real time?"

3. Diamond dust is supposed to irritate her under red sun energy?
Mon-El was held in a room under red sun energy for weeks by Ra As Ghul,... Every week The villian would come in an shoot him,... By the third time or so,.. the bullets finally STARTED TO BRUISE HIM. Why exactly would "diamond dust" be any different for her that the slipstream produced by her crossing the planet in a number of seconds?

I enjoy a good story as much as anyone. this might have worked with Superman only because HE HOLDS BACK. Superman has been "hit" with red sun energy that knocked him down and "hurt" him w/o tearing his costume. Energy fired by someone TRYING TO KILL HIM. It was never powerful enough to kill him and was almost always an inconvienace to him because of his "boy Scout" feature.

I can only suspend so much belief.

ya she does have a lot of guest appearances but Powergirl/Wondergirl/Powerboy/Boomer are basically all apart of her supporting cast. And Nightwing I guess basically decieded he wanted to make sure Kara had someone watching out for her so he got Boomer to do it and they developed a friendship. Supes is her cousin so ofcourse he would show up sometimes, and Batman/WonderWoman are basically her foster parents or her legal guardians. And she is basically considered an amazon now since everyone on the island accepted her and she lived there until it dissapeared.

Im sure she will get her own villians sometime but it would be waste to introduce brand new charecters since they would most likely be punched out of continuity within two years.

i partially agree with this. she comes from a very clever culture and family in particular but i think back to the movie and on krypton she was dyslexic and upon returning to earth was way too intelligent in my opinion. the point of this incarnation is that people relate to her. who is going to relate to a person who knows all the answers. If she knew exactly who she was, where she was going, how she was going to defeat the bad guy it would make for a tremendously shallow character.

i partially agree with this. she comes from a very clever culture and family in particular but i think back to the movie and on krypton she was dyslexic and upon returning to earth was way too intelligent in my opinion. the point of this incarnation is that people relate to her. who is going to relate to a person who knows all the answers. If she knew exactly who she was, where she was going, how she was going to defeat the bad guy it would make for a tremendously shallow character.



she's a teenage girl. She wants to have fun, she sees all these other kids around her going to parties and she has a 'responsibility'. its obvious she will be saying 'why her?' she didn't ask for this life or this power. It doesn't mean she won't use it when she needs to though.

i think this kara has a lot more depth than she was in the silver age- i don't think she would even sell one comic if she was still like that. Not everything is perfect for this kara, she has a bad history, she has a low self esteem and she is too afraid to go near superman even though he could help her- its all rather sad. As for consistency it needs a writer who really wants to do it which kelly doesn't. i'm looking forward to garza's art for that reason, he has been itching to get his hands on the title and hopefully will show that enthusiasm in his work and ideas

I like what Kellys doing with the charecter, he knows where he wants to bring her and this is just one phase in her life which is about to come to a conclusion in issue 19 when they finally get her memories taken care of.

Loeb wanted to depict her as a very strong female who could take on anything and who was claustrophobic(sp), Kelly is trying to depict a very troubled teen who wants to find where she fits in on this new place and she is taking it hard to adjust to. But I wish they had kept the claustrophobic part to her to give her a different weakness and set her apart from Superman.

But Supergirl is getting a new creative team soon so we will have to wait and see where they want to bring her next. And it was already stated that DC has big plans for her so its just a wait and see.

ya I was thinking the same thing, the cover could have been more creative. Now we have 3 artists who have done the same cover basically.

As for the sales, it sucks that they dropped again but DC has plans for SG and I still enjoy reading about her so it doesnt really affect me. She is still in the top 50(not as great as where she was previously but only being beat out by DCs top hitters Batman/Supes/WW/52/B&B isnt bad and ofcourse Marvel) and WW has is dropping aswell even though it was written by a big name.

But im excited about June, it is the month to be a Supergirl fan, she appears in like what? 5 books? counting her own? Haters ofcourse will be mad but oh well :)

the last supergirl issue was one of the ones i didn't really enjoy. It was just too much of a moral lecture. I liked brave and the bold should be interesting to see what will happen to her next. The art was a bit hectic though but then again so was the planet they were in

Supergirl 16 is a very good issue! So her memory were right, but Kara were not remembering things correctly.

Jor-El(Superman dad) introduce the "Phantom Zone" to the science council as a way to banished bad guys. Kara Zor-El, her mom (Allura), dad (Zor-El) and a group a people see this guy get sent to the Phantom Zone on a video screen.The group of people around cheered. Months or weeks Krypton changed and was all undetectable but in Argo City at first. A rise in crime and violence. It got so bad that the three of them were leaving Argo City and were attack by people.Zor-El stab one of the guys with his Sunstone Crystal he made. A Ghost came out one of the guys body. He found out that evil "Phantoms" lived in the Phantom Zone and that people could not see them but the 3 them. He tried to tell his brother Jor-El that the Phantoms Zone was not empty. He would not believe him but said Krypton was doom. Supergirl dad Zor-El beleve that his Sunstone Crystals were the key to fighting the evil Phantoms that were taking over a lot of people. So they went around shooting people with their Crystals guns. They get caught and are standing in the Science Council room to be judge but some groundquakes happen, the Halls Of Justice fell, and the 3 of them leave. Later Superman dad was getting his ship ready to sent baby Superman to Earth and told Supergirl dad that he also have a designed ship with the Sunstone Crystals he could build in days. Supergirl 16 is a very good issue! So her memory were right, but Kara were not remembering things correctly.

Jor-El(Superman dad) introduce the "Phantom Zone" to the science council as a way to banished bad guys. Kara Zor-El, her mom (Allura), dad (Zor-El) and a group a people see this guy get sent to the Phantom Zone on a video screen.The group of people around cheered. Months or weeks Krypton changed and was all undetectable but in Argo City at first. A rise in crime and violence. It got so bad that the three of them were leaving Argo City and were attack by people.Zor-El stab one of the guys with his Sunstone Crystal he made. A Ghost came out one of the guys body. He found out that evil "Phantoms" lived in the Phantom Zone and that people could not see them but the 3 them. He tried to tell his brother Jor-El that the Phantoms Zone was not empty. He would not believe him but said Krypton was doom. Supergirl dad Zor-El beleve that his Sunstone Crystals were the key to fighting the evil Phantoms that were taking over a lot of people. So they went around shooting people with their Crystals guns. They get caught and are standing in the Science Council room to be judge but some groundquakes happen, the Halls Of Justice fell, and the 3 of them leave. Later Superman dad was getting his ship ready to sent baby Superman to Earth and told Supergirl dad that he also have a designed ship with the Sunstone Crystals he could build in days. I just read #16. That issue may very well be the worst comic I've ever read. It was just...insulting. The countless indignities it committed against not only Supergirl's origin and history, but Superman's as well honestly shocked the hell out of me.

I'm not usually one to rail against a comic, but good lord, I felt like a Spider-Man fan reading Sins Past for the first time. And I'm not even that big a fan of Supergirl or Superman.

I sincerely hope they dramatically change Supergirl's direction as both a character and a title. It may very well be the worst thing in comics today.

So I've just read the whole series today. My eyes hurt. A lot of **** went down, and the series, for me, is hit/miss. I can tell you one thing, though: I hated that ****ing candor(sp) arc, as I don't know what the **** was happening. I've Only read up to issue 17, did 18 come out yet? And What does that *b**** (*love her) mean that Kara isn't the real supergirl?? And why do I get the sick feeling that the word "pre-crisis" is going to come up?
