My trilogy title (hoping that it gets a trilogy) would be
Iron Man
Iron Man 2.0
Iron Man III
that's how the titles would look on screen :yay:

ironman
ironman II: war monger
the invincible ironman
1.just ironman is ok for the first
2."warmonger" is my choice for the second...it raises thoughts of both war machine and a possible return of iron monger. plus i think it captures well the feeling of tony turning back into what he was before becoming the iron knight
3.i saved "invincible" for the third. to signify his return to greatness after conquering his demons.

I would like the trilogy titles to be either:
Iron Man
Iron Man 2
Iron Man 3
Or
Iron Man
The Invincible Iron Man
Iron Man: Armor Wars
The Invincible Iron Man is a good title for the second movie because he will likely be facing The Mandarin, his greatest foe, so it makes sense to make Iron Man appear a little stronger in the title.
The third title depends on the story line of the film, but i would like the Armor Wars to be in the movies. It would make a good conclusion to a trilogy (having Stark develop and use his Armors throughout the first 2 movies, only to have the designs stolen in the third). If not Armor Wars, then i think just Iron Man 3 has a nice sound to it.

My problem with just using a number after the title in any sequel is two-fold:
1)It takes no imagination or creativity to come up with something like that
and
2)It subliminally tells potential viewers that we(as film-makers) really couldn't be bothered to come up with a good title and maybe we took that kind of slack-ass approach to making the movie as well. We're just cashin' in and aren't as concerned with making a genuinely great movie going experience as you the viewer would like us to be.

I have the feeling that it could be Iron-Man - War Machine
even though is weird have the name of two heroes in the title, I think it's probable.
FF2 had, too.

Just as long as it's not Rise of the Mandarin.
Not because I don't want to see the Mandarin, I've just had enough "Rise of"s, after Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, FF: Rise of the Silver Surfer, Ultimate Avengers 2: Rise of the Panther, and coming up, Underworld: Rise of the Lycans.

I agree, wow that is alot of rising going on lol,
I'm also not a fan of RETURNS...
It's bad enough Superman used it after Batman already did...
And I am not 100% on the Manderin? I saw the Invincible Iron Man (Animated Movie) Is that the true story of the Manderin? Is he a long time spirit awaiting to be resurrected? Because I couldn't see that working in a live action movie? It doesn't seem believable, or ...I don't know lol
I think after making Iron Man, Hulk (they should make Captain America, Thor) and than instead of doing sequels to all those movies...just make THE AVENGERS:)
(but that could be a terrible idea to everyone in this thread, if it is...I apologize for even mentioning it:()

No, they changed the Mandarin in that cartoon. In the comics he's not a ghost or anything like that. A quick one sentence summary of him would be that he's like an asian Dr. Doom.(not the FF movie one though) without the mask and the armor(instead using his rings which run on alien technology).

Ooooh, alrighty.
So do you guys think that would work in the IronMan universe? Just curious, because it seems like it is going to be a very good (pretty realistic) movie... but I cant see how they would bring in alien technology? Unless the movie is more out there than I think it is

I don't know if Invincible Iron Man is appropriate if the movie is going to be darker, introspective, and focusing largely on Tony's alcoholism. I think that Incredible Iron Man sounds even more "family friendly" which will be weird if its a darker movie. I don't know, normally I hate when movies are just Iron Man 2 or Iron Man 3 with no thought in the title, but sometimes maybe that's the way to go.
I like 2.0 or mark II....But I still think that if someone had a good real title for a movie then use that. The title should be about a movie. Look at Star Wars, in episode 5, the empire strikes back, hence the title. So not really knowing what the plot is to the movie yet kind of makes it hard to assign it a name...

why not call the second one 'Tony stark'
since it is going to concentrate hopefully more on him than iron man.
a superhero film has yet to be named after a character's alias.
it'd be cool, unique and hopefully a trend setter for sequel titles in the future.

Iron Man 2 would be the obvious choice, but this thread's purpose is to find a title a little more clever in conveying a continuation of a series rather than just slapping a two behind the title of the first.
That being said, its hard to know what to make the title when we don't know the plot of the movie at all. If they don't deal with alcoholism...Then I like Invincible Iron Man. And if they're going to just add a 2 on the end the least that they could do is make it a 2.0, or something.

the dark knight isnt dumb? ive hated that title since before it was even officially announced, back when it was still a fan title. if the movie doesnt have the heroes name in the title, then it sounds lame. just "batman" and batman returns had cool sounding titles. batman forever sounds like some drunk person who got a tatoo and TDK is just a nickname title, even if it has to do with the movie itself. i just like it when its batman, batman 2, batman 3, or whatever superhero name they give it.

The Dark Knight makes sense, since its related to the main character, likewise with Batman and Robin.
But something like Batman Forever, Returns, Begins...those are just all time generic sequel title names. (Even though its understandable to why they used "Begins")
X-Men United, X-Men: The Last Stand, those are just stupid. They should of just stuck to X2, X3, thing.
FaT_tONle
06-26-2008, 12:15 AM
When its a one man show then it's better to use 2,3,4,5... but when it's an ensemble film then you should have a tag line. Last Stand sounded cheezy, but I thought X2: X-Men United was a decent fit. Nevertheless... ensemble films should have a tag line of sorts.

I don't like the numbered titles. It makes people groan when they see it because once you start getting into the 4's and 5's, it's like "Another one?"
X2: X-men United sounded dumb, and it was more like Mutants United because Magneto isn't a X-man.
I can see them just going with IM-II.

I personally don't like appending the title with a 2 or II... I never had.
I like something like:
The Invincible Iron Man
Iron Man: The Golden Avenger
Iron Man: Iron Wars
Iron Man: War Machines
Or whatever title would be appropriate for the actual theme of the sequel. Such as:
The Hulk
The Incredible Hulk
then...
The Rampaging Hulk
or
The Hulk: The Green Avenger ;)

every sequel after the first movie should not include the character's name... they should do the James Bond thing and just have a title that reflect the film, not the character... it's not like we have James bond 22... know what i mean
I think The Dark Knight is a great sequel title.
anrrd_2
07-13-2008, 12:49 PM
at some point yes you can drop the characters name....the dark knight is the 7th batman movie so i think they had built up enough of a following to allow that. i say after ironman 2 and avengers you can start dropping the character name, but not before.
ThatDamnNinja

I don't think there's anything wrong with just "2" or "II."
Spider-Man 2 worked fine. The Fantastic Four sequel NEEDED a subtitle because you can't call it "Fantastic Four 2." X2: X-Men United was kind of crappy title for a good movie (I would've preferred X2: Mutants United), Batman Begins 2 wouldn't have worked, Hellboy II: The Golden Army works in spite of itself. Blade II worked.
Honestly, I think where you can afford to just use "2" or "II", you should. It's simple. Subtitles scream "direct-to-DVD."
The exception to the "2" rule is if you can come up with something legitimately creative, a la, The Dark Knight, which isn't to say Iron Man should go that route exactly, because I want "Iron Man" in the title. But "The Invincible Iron Man" or "Iron Man: Mark II" are pretty sweet. My only issue with those are that IIM is already that animated movie, and "Mark II" refers specifically to a suit we already saw in Iron Man.
But hey, I'm not too much of a stickler. I'd be happy with Iron Man 2, Iron Man II, Iron Man 2.0, Iron Man: Mark II, Iron Man: Mark 2, The Invincible Iron Man... just no subtitles, unless they can come up with something awesome.
Absolutely no "Rise of"s.
