View Full Version : Rainbow Six: Vegas Demo on XBLM 10/23!!!

Ubisoft has today announced that a single-level demo of the forthcoming title Rainbow Six: Vegas will available to download from October 23rd via Xbox Live Marketplace. The level, which features part of the "Dante's Casino" mission, will demonstrate the OPA (Observe, Plan and Assault) strategy in the game, as the counter-terrorist team hunt down the leaders of the terrorist cell.
I can't wait to try this demo out! :up:

Yea, as much as i LOVE Splinter Cell: Double Agent, id say Rainbow 6 Vegas will be the better of the two because of that insane mp. I just gotta pick up that little cam thing so i can map my face into the game(thats gonna be kick ass)

Yeah, it was too "zingy" for lack of a better word. I prefer movies that do a lot with a little, or at least movies that are more than a sum of their parts, but Shrek was, to me, the opposite of that.
It also drew on too much gimmicky pop-culture references, but I can overlook that since I don't pay much attention to pop-culture (my culture is better).
Good points all, and I do kinda hate the parodies/references.
But I like the little things like "She lives with 7 dwarves, but she's not easy!", you know, stuff like that.

Yeah, a lot, and I mean a LOT of people LOVE the Shrek movies. I realise I'm in a very small minority here, but as such, I understand that (and why) people like the movies.
Just not my favorite flavor, that's all. :(

I seriously cannot stress this enough....THIS GAME IS GOING TO OWN.
Ask questions if you want, I'm still playing.
Jesus Christ, it's AMAZING. I am totally preodering it today.
Also, they were NOT kidding about the AI.
I tried to run and gun and I was dead in literally 3 seconds.

I can't see the actual bullet holes, but there seems to be location based damage, and the ragdoll physics are AMAZING, so very realistic.
I want to get close to shot a bad guy in the face, but they don't let me....they shoot me dead in a 2 secs :(

Use a XM8 with a scope or a Steyr AUG they're the best :o

Damn. How does the game control?? Also, do the bullets do realistic damage to the enemy ai. Like if you shoot em in the shoulder, do they just run behind cover or do they actually grab that shoulder?
Also is it not coming to marketplace in America???

The game controls very...hmm...what's the word? Oh yeah....PERFECT.
It's so easy and intuitive to give commands to your (very smart) guys.
Changing weapons/fire modes feels so natural, it's not funny.
The AI...yeah, amazing. They hide, they flank you, they throw grenades when they have to, the works.
Damage is pretty cool, haven't seen if they hide after catching one in the shoulders, but if you blast them on the knees, the awesome ragdoll physics take over and they go down eerily realistic.
Head shot = bam, dead.
I seriously, SERIOUSLY love this game.
There's a LOT of strategy involved, combined with some pretty serious stealth and frantic firefights.
Like some guy at Gamefaqs said: The lovechild of Ghost Recon Adv and Splinter Cell (only much much much better)
Oh, and another thing...this is on the normal setting, there's a "Realistic" setting that I haven't dared to try :o :(

Realistic probably means the wind and the heat from a bullet just nearly missing you would still cause a lot* of damage.

The gameplay is great fun (after I got used to the controls :o ). Its not too overdone with the tech side of the squad and it seems much faster than GRAW.

The graphics are good... Although there seem to be alot of jaggies and other stuff in some places (Might be my screen) :confused:
Add the face mapping and XBL... I will be getting this as soon as it hits :up:

GRAW and SC: DA were totally amazing, and though I liked Tom Clancy games before, my confidence in the TC label of games is at an all time high, and despite lockdown sucking, this will be a first day buy since it seems to have taken the best elements from his other game series and I want to buy the camera for 360 to scan my face in to pop terrorist ass!

I liked how in the sequels in each one as they went on they couldn't get the better actor to stay on. Like in the first one they had Bacon that one guy with the trucker hat on the whole time and that one other Hispanic guy thats in like 40 movies a year. Then in the sequel it only had that Hispanic guy and trucker dude. And then in the third one it was just that trucker dude.

And the Tremors keep getting more physically capable to make up for bad writing. At first, they can only move underground. In the sequel, they can walk. In the third one, they fly... :whatever:
Note that all this evolution of a "million year old species" just so HAPPENS to trigger within a few years of each other. :whatever:
I love Tremors 1 and especially 2 though. :woot:

All I ever do in demos is get a scoped weapon, and zoom in on EVERYTHING so I get a real sense of the graphics.
Everything else is... not important.

Rainbow Six has always ruled, and while I'm disappointed in the changes they're making to RSix for number 4, I was also disappointed when they were changing it for RSix 3, so maybe it's a good thing. :D

Its not really the hardcore fans that bother me, but they puzzle me. I mean, am I playing the same game? I just don't see it. In either game, online and offline co op, everything. I just can't figure out whats so great about it. A lot of people mention the story, but I don't seen anything really special in that either. Oh well.

If Gears of War didn't JUST come out, and I didn't already have Ghost Recon, I would have bought this.
Still, with Superman Returns coming so soon, possibly getting FEAR and Viva Pinata... (sorry guys, but he's one of the few Superheroes I actually like) and all the amazing games coming next year (Mass Effect, Too Human, Bioshock, Lost Planet, Alan Wake, Halo 3, The Darkness, SplinterCell etc... I can hardly afford getting a game that's essentially a clone of several other games I own combined (Ghost Recon, SplinterCell)...

Can you play co-op on this on the same system? I'm not getting Superman Returns now that I know it sucks.

This is actually the number one game of the year for me. I fricken love the RS games. Anyone have a list of the rifles in this one?
I really want to get this game but the only thing is stopping me is the graphics! It looks dated.

Are you sure? I downloaded the demo and it didnt impress me at all graphic wise.

Maybe you're playing on a standard TV that doesn't have HD. A lot of great looking games tend to look like last-gen if you're not playing them in HD.

LOL! Im playing it on my Samsung 32' LCD/HD TV! I mean its a pretty good game, and I will get it eventually but those graphics just seem average! The cinema part of Rainbow Six looks awesome though!

I'm leaning towards this one because it has co-op and other splitscreen functionalities, but I like how gunfire in FEAR creates lightsources that stencil-shadow the environment. :(
Damnit, I want this game! The 4-player co-op is just.. awesome-sounding.

OK, I've been playing R6 Vegas for the past two days. I'm at Dante's Casino right now. And all I have to say is that this game is awesome, awesome, awesome. Here I thought Gears of War, Ghost Recon and F.E.A.R had amazing action gameplay and along comes this and kicks it up another notch. Even though there are no "cool" effects like slow-mo and all, the gunfights are really intense - the muzzle flash and the loud sound effects of gunfire, it's all very gritty and realistic. Your teammates are also quite smart and competent. For once I can safely rely on them to cover my ass and take out other tangos without doing something annoyingly stupid. And the enemy A.I is pretty competent as well - the only game in which enemies have been able to successfully flank me before was in F.E.A.R, and Rainbow Six Vegas takes that to whole new levels, especially in the later missions. For the first time, I was actually worried of the A.I constantly getting the jump on me and had to post my teammates at the rear flanks.
And the whole "tactical" aspect works like a total charm. It's simple, easy and intuitive. By the time you reach the second casino in Vegas, you'll be barking out orders and engaging hostiles like a true pro. This game really captures the feeling of being the leader of the world's most elite anti-terrorist squad. Heck, just yesterday, I was playing through the Dante's Casino level where I successfully guided my teammates through the ground floor while I perched up on the top far back as sniper and blasted away. It was a truly thrilling experience when I finished that segment without a retry. I honestly felt like some badass commando.
And this coming from someone who never really liked any of the console iterations of Rainbow Six before (yes, even Rainbow Six 3) is damn high praise indeed. If you overlook this title simply because you think you've played it all before in Splinter Cell, Gears of War or Ghost Recon, then you're seriously missing out on one of the best action games in years. Yes, Rainbow Six Vegas is that good.

You know I love F.E.A.R more than my own my mother, but I haven't played it on the 360 yet so I don't know how it stacks up to the PC version.
My copy of Rainbow Six Vegas arrived two days ago. But I'm on vacation at my parents' house right now. I'll check it out once I get back to my apartment in a couple of days. I was a strong supporter of this game ever since I downloaded the HD footage of the E3 presentation and the review scores only seem to indicate that my enthusiasm for this game was not misplaced.

Get F.E.A.R on the PC if your PC can run it at high settings. Not only does the 360 version lack the audio "oomph" of it's PC cousin, the slow motion effects are also noticeably lacking. In the PC mode, whenever you engage slow-mo, the perspective appears to "focus in" a bit with a damn cool motion blur effect to boot. There is also a slightly reddish visual filter on the edges of the screen that further helps F.E.A.R's slow motion effects stand out from every other game. And whenever you engage or disengage slow-motion, there is "zoom" sound effect. On the 360, there is practically no visual difference between slow-motion and normal gameplay speed aside from...well, you know, the slow motion, while all the cool, subtle effects that made the PC version that much impressive are criminally absent.
Adding insult to injury, I played F.E.A.R on my 360 at 720p resolution (pretty much the same as the resolution I'm running on my PC) and the PC version appears to be so much sharper, especially when it comes to lighting and textures.
So yeah, get Rainbow Six Vegas on the 360. It looks much better than F.E.A.R and is an all-round totally amazing action game. If you so desperately want to play F.E.A.R, to get the most out of the game there really is no option other than playing it on the PC in terms of both gameplay as well as audio and visuals. Plus, it's cheaper and you can also get the Extraction Point expansion pack for little more story when it drops in price (because it's only like, 5 hours long).

Yeah. Hell if you asked if you should buy Gears of War or Rainbow Six, that would be the harder question. They are two different games, but the cover system is better in R6, ( not saying that it sucks in Gears, its just not as good) and online is awesome. The problem I am having in Gears online is that its really difficult just to find a game. Most times it says connection lost to host or some **** like that. That mostly happens when I try to find a ranked game. Its just frusterating, and factor in the mic only works about half the time and it just adds to it. Don't get me wrong, once you do find a good game, Gears online is awesome, but I have had a lot less frusteration with R6 online.
