Yesterday, I visited Target to see if if it had the latest DCAU DVD's, and on the way to the electronic section, I saw that the employees had already set aside a Wii section, complete with a merchandise setup. Wii dog tags, pins, tin boxes (w/ nintendo-themed magnets), controller gloves, travel packs, and gift cards were available for purchase. I've never had so much fun with a gift card.
Anyway, two things Wii owners and Target shoppers should know:
1) The controller gloves come in two sets and are packaged in three. In the first set, the color scheme is red, blue, and pink. In the second set, the color scheme is green, black, and gray. The red one on the first set has the signature "M" of Mario. The green one on the second set has the Triforce from The Legend of Zelda.
2) Target is offering a promotional deal on launch-day. If you buy three titles on launch-day, they will give a free $20 gift card for the Wii.

Yes, they are dressing up the Wii gift card, but it's that window dressing that will get buyers interested. We do like bells and whistles, and people seeing the system's gift card look like that will pique some interest.
