You really couldn't be ANY more wrong. Go back and re-read the Act, that is if you can understand just what it is you are reading.
For arguments sake, lets say this act really is just as evil as you think. Ok so the govt is listening to your phone calls. What exactly are you afraid of? What is it you have to hide? Do you honestly think the govt gives two *****s about your conversation if it has nothing to do with national security? Come on man, grow up.
Read 1984, Brave New World, etc. Watch Equilibrium. Listen to Nine Inch Nails new album. Then read the patriot act, and tell me that it doesnt seem like a hell of a good first step towards any of those possible futures to you. And dont give me any of that "what are you hiding!?!!" BS, because that's NOT the point, you little drone. The point is that if the administration wanted to take the "next step" in protecting us, they could now easily go over everyones library records and arrest anyone who's checkd out anything that goes against the current doctrine. Is it likely they will go this far? No, at least not yet. I think it'll take another big attack (or you know, a manufactured one) to get them to go that far. But really, with what we're doing in the middle east right now (read pissing everyone off and acting like we're the cavalry in some western when really these people see us as satan) I dont think another attack is really that far off. So you can go right ahead and live in your little fantasty world where the government is always right and america is always the good guy and everything is all roses and unicorns, but some of us preffer the real world.

Ok, so your argument is for me to listen to Nine Inch Nails and read a book of FICTION??? Wow, thats uh, thats a good one:whatever: . Look i know how the Patriot Act "could" sound to someone as paranoid as you, but I'm just not that worried, because there is NO reason to be. I mean, if America is so bad and evil, leave. You don't have to stay here. I hear Egypt is nice this time of yr

The best fiction reflects the real world. You seem to never have read anything with any social bearing though, so you probably don't understand this concept. In fact, I guess you probably dont read anything beyond Tom Clancy novels and the wonderful books of guys like Rush Limbaugh and Bill O'Reily. And the whole "love it or leave it" argument is for retards. I love America. I love what it stands for, and I love what it has the potential to be. But when you put corrupt a**holes into power, ala the current regime, I don't love the government. Even Thomas Jefferson said that he felt every few hundered years there needed to be a revolution against the government, as freedom and democracy both come from the blood of dead heroes and tyrants alike (to paraphrase).

Well i can give you some credit. Look i do not think this govt is perfect, far from it, however, i am not going to waste my time running around like a chicken with its head cut off screaming about a governmental take over. Do i think we should all just close our eyes to the govts dealings? No, but dont assume that everything the govt does that you disagree with is going to equal a no-freedom society. Also you have ZERO evidence to support your "corrupt regime" statement, but nice try, i guess? Now, im off to see the new Pirates movie, you think you guys will be able to function while im gone?

There's plenty of evidence. The topic of this thread is evidence. Bush's stance against regulating oil price gouging is evidence. The Patriot Act itself is evidence. But you seemingly are too blind to see what's right in front of you, and choose instead to call those of us who do see it, and think that this is the wrong path to be going down if we want to maintain a free society "conspiracy nuts" or "paranoid." Well, some people like that might be paranoid, hell they probably are. But just because you're paranoid doesnt mean they're not after you.

HAHA! Wow, just wow. I mean the worst part of all that, is I'm afraid you actually believe that. HAHA! I mean, i cant stop laughing, you actually think Bush and Saddam are equals, hahahahaha. Please, hahahahahaha. Ok. Ok i think I'm under control, wait no, hahahahahaha.
I'm not sure what country you live in, but our freedoms haven't gone anywhere. Now, as young uneducated individual like yourself, you are probably pissed that your last underage drinking party got busted so you whine and ***** at how "the man" is all about ruining your fun. based on your little rant, it seems to me that you really dislike the government. You hate how some of our freedoms are being "taken away" (which they are not, you're just looking for an excuse) so why would YOU want an individual who wants more government control(ie Obama and Clinton)??? I don't think Bush is perfect, hell far from it. I also dont think the Republicans have done everything the way they should have, i mean damn, they are spending money like crazy, but if you want to form a real argument, the comparison of Bush to Nazis or Saddam just doesn't fly. All it does is prove that you're a moron. Any way, I'm not gonna really get into a deep argument about this because you aren't intelligent enough to form a complete argument. That might not be totally your fault, so i don't blame you too much.
Comparing Bush to Hitler or Saddam is unfair, but let's use a fair example, Bush is this century's Czar Nicholas II, an arrogant and foolish who was given power because of what family he was born into, rather than ability (if think Bush would have been able to become President if he wasn't born into a rich famnily with a lot of political power, you are naive.) Both Bush and Nicholas II brought their countries into poorly planned wars that ended up being disasters for their countries.
Its ironic, republicans claim to support small government, yet they have increased the scope and power of the government more than any previous admin, they claim to fiscally responsiblity, yet this admin spends like a drunk sailor and they claim to support accountable government, yet they are mired in corruption scandals. What do they stand for?

That kid getting tazered really made me ask myself, "Why hasn't Bush been impeached?"
If 66% disapprove, and majority rules, and America is a democracy, then how come he isn't bagging my groceries?
You have the power to vote, and to impeach. So why not exercise that RIGHT? Honestly, this is getting ridiculous. No ones liked him, ever. Yet there he is, smiling like an idiot.
There would be no police brutality and bad presidents if most of the citizens would get off their asses and teach them a lesson. That video was absolutely ridiculous. He's in a gym FULL of people, and they sit back and gasp as if it's helping him. There's NO way that 5 cops would be able to take on a gym full of people. So why didn't everyone rush them?
I'm Canadian, so I'm powerless in this situation, so this thread is more rhetorical than anything. But for the disapproving American majority, why have you not done anything to correct the problem?
America has the power, yet no guts to stand up for its own rights... How is this right?
What that moron did had nothing to do with the President....the kid acted like a total moron after being given repeated chances to stop and he didn't.
As for impeaching, being unpopular is not grounds enough to impeach a president....and only the Congress has the power to impeach a President.
First the House of Reps must pass the Articles of Impeachment and that requires a majority vote in the House...it then moves to the Senate. In order to convinct an impeached official there must be a two thirds majority vote....the Democrats don't have a two thirds majority vote....

Bush has a very high Christian following,He's not going to get impeached cuase 66% of americans don't approve of him, doesn't work that way here..yes the guy is a moron.Thank god his term is almost over.
If 85 % of America is Christian, and 66 % disapprove of him, that's really not a large following.
Anyway, if Bush were to be impeached, it should've been carried out at least 1 1/2 years ago. Now it would be just pointless.

I did not know that. Man, this is a major let down. I say the 66% just rush him and throw him to the wolves. Sin City style, but not really, haha.

66% of the polled population wants Bush gone. Nevertheless, that doesn't mean there's any legal grounds to impeach him (which doesn't mean he'd be gone, anyway).
The US had it's chance to get rid of him in 2004. We voted for him again. If so many people wanted him gone, that was their chance.

Because the Dems don't have the votes. The Dems are bearely the majority in congress, 51-49, You need at least a 2/3rds vote to get anything significant passed. That's why they can't get anything done. The Right won't let anything pass that will do any good. That way they can go around in 08 and say "See? The Dems haven't done anything while they've been in office" Knowing that the reason the Dems haven't been able to do anything is because the Rep won't vote with them.
If the Right would get off there highhorse and started voting for the good of the country instead of what Bush wants we might get something done around here.

I said that's what I thought...Clinton was a governor, so was Reagan.....I know it's opposite ends of the spectrum, but I think a person should have experience running a state (if not governor, then Lt. Governor).....Bush Sr. was VP for 8 years so he saw what the job took. None of them seem to have a concrete plan....They all have some ideas as to what to do, or what they want to do.....Just to name a few, as long as Bill is alive no one is taking Hillary seriously, Obama just isn't getting elected, Gravel and Paul are like the crazy uncles at the family reunion, Thompson has his limo drop him off at the pick up truck so he can drive it to the rally......

Can't disagree with you there..Like I had posted before, but it bears repeating. The true definition of "citizen" is long forgotten in this country. We have the best and brightest going to work in the private sector because the government does not pay squat, so we end up with B and C students running the country. Most American citizens are only concerned with getting the kids to school on time, paying the bills, and hoping they can get that promotion at work. Being a citizen is taking that extra time to get involved in your community, but alas it doesn't happen...."Who has the time?" should be American motto...

I agree, but also disagree to a certain extent. The whole structure of our country's political process is ****ed two ways from sideways. Things NEED to be changed. It won't happen, but it should.
Plus, recent reports have come out saying that not voting actually does far less damage than an uniformed vote does.
But I still agree with everything you said. It's just too hard now for Americans to care with having to deal with what you have stated and the way our country is set up to push people towards those ideals of big house, fast car etc.

The reason Bush got re-elected is because Middle America votes regardless of the candidates or the issues. If you took a count of all the registered voters, I'm probably guessing you will have more registered Republicans that vote in elections, as opposed to registered Democrats that vote in elections.....GO VOTE....if you don't bote, you don't get to complain

Very few people actually understand impeachment...
Impeachment does not mean you get kicked out of office. Impeachment is the rough equivalent of indictment. It's when Congress accuses the President of committing a crime when he's in Office. Then, it goes to trial - with the Supreme Court as judge and the Senate as jury. If CONVICTED, then the President is removed from Office.
As it is, no President has ever been convicted, and only two have been impeached - Andrew Johnson and Bill Clinton. Both of them were found innocent, served the remainder of their terms, and then left with their tail between their legs.

Precisely. I tried to keep it as short and sweet as possible.
As you can see, it's a very intricate process, and therefore saying, "I don't like him!" is not going to be enough. Besides, he needs to do something legally wrong first...AND no President has ever been convicted, so even if he got impeached...I wouldn't get your hopes up.

lol. Having a job doesn't mean you aren't lazy, especially when you are required to for food and clothing and a home. And most jobs don't actually require a lot of work. You sit in a nice air-conditioned building, working on a computer or answering phones, maybe showing customers merchandise or delivering goods.
But even if as an individual you are not lazy, as a whole, Americans are lazy. Why do you think the obesity rate among Americans is double most other countries and triple others? To the non-American who began this thread:
Just because the people are unsatisfied with their government does not mean they can impeach them. Democracy does not work like that. I do hope you know that "impeach" does not mean "to get rid of". Impeachment is only the formal accusation of a government official. Furthermore, as has already been stated, only Congress can impeach a president, not the American people. If the American people are unsatisfied with the current state of the government, democracy allows them to voice that opinion and give the boot to whoever is in office. Formal accusation and removal from office are not things that you can flippantly throw around. The fact that Bush made some unfavored decisions does that he's done anything to warrant impeachment or removal from office.
Popular sovereignty...people power...is not a free for all where the people can do what they want. You spoke of exercising rights. Before government as we have it today, life was a free for all and if you didn't like a guy, then just physically drag him out of office if need be. BUT under our government today, the people agree to give up rights like that, in exchange for the government's protection of their natural and unalienable rights as well as the rights guaranteed by the Constitution. This social contract can only be broken if the government fails to protect those rights. Our rights have not been violated. The government leaders haven't abused their power in order to commit illegal acts. As it stands, though unfavored by the majority, the administration is legally solid and had done nothing to produce a valid impeachment.
There's your civics lesson for the day.

First of all, I watched the video and I don't think it was Bush who tasered the kid, but I could be completely blind and not know it.
Second of all, although this comes as a shock and surprise to everyone, America is not based on majority rule. Thomas Jefferson, John Adams and "Publius" all wrote extensively against "tryanny of the majority", and designed a constitutional system that was set against majority rule. The fact that we have rights, things that no men or body of men may take away, should right there suggest to you that we are not 'majority rule'.
I like Bush about as much as I liked having dental surgury, and at least I saw a benefitial reason for the former. But just because you dislike a President doesn't give you the authority or justification to impeach him. He has, at the moment, done nothing (that we know of) that are grounds for impeachment. Certainly he has some suspect behavior, but nothing we could pin him for.
It takes Congress to impeach him, and it's a long and grueling process that requires more than a simple majority. Even if the people want him gone it is up to our elites to decide whether his impeachment is necessary or required at this time.
BlackLantern

Impeach is to accuse a President of wrongdoing...
1.The House has to pass the Articles of Impeachment by majority vote
2.The Senate must pass the same Articles by majority vote
3. In order to bring a President to trial for impeachment, Congress must have a 2/3 majority in favor of trial
During this process, members of Congress can debate and make cases for or against the Articles and or trial
It's a long, long process and during this time, no other bills or other business gets addressed during this process....
If I'm wrong in the explanantion, anyone please feel free to correct me

Is he capable of writing a book? I mean one that doesn't have pictures, pop ups, connect the dots or coloring?
maybe it will be ghost written...He'll just leave office and head back to Crawford....

Actually, Lincoln was the George W. Bush of his day during the Civil War, he barely won re-election, people were getting sick of war, etc.
Then he got shot in the head and everyone loved him.
And don't forget about Winston Churchill. The British hated him during WWII. But now he is considered a hero.

Just because he's a poor public speaker doesn't make him a stupid man. He did graduate from an Ivy league school.

Any rich kid with his families connections could graduate from an Ivy league school. High Society is incestous. With all their secret societies and under the table deals.

I'm not defending the President by any means, but I find it difficult to believe that Yale University would be bought off by the Bush family, it's not like they need the money there.......

What a bleak outlook on humanity.
and Chamber, Did some Ivy League school reject you? So you decide that it must be because you don't have enough money, or you aren't in the right society.
You know, I get confused some times. I hear poor people are incestous, rich people are incestous, they double back on themselves so many times I can't keep track. Conspiracy theory all you want. I just think he's a poor public speaker.
