i like it.. was worth the money.. 12 bucks isnt much. but i didnt expect something more..once a quarter of the album is gone.. it feels like its the same song over and over again.. like the mixing made it sound like the songs flowed together..but just way too close together..regardless..i thin kthere are a few good ones.. a couple of gems... but whatever...

Nice drumming, but compared to Hot Fuss, whatever. I hum "For Reasons Unknow"n to myself but I don't really like the song, and "Bones" is all right. But I don't think I'd want to listen to the whole thing through another time. Maybe in a few months or years. Decades.

I agree. She does. But she sounds pretty good on the albums. A bit of echo goes a long way with people's vocals. I mean, I would never call myself a vocalist but it's not like I'm tone deaf either. But when I hook my mic up to my Boss DD-6 my vocals sound much better.

Studio singing is hotter than live always, usually, there are a lot of people who sound great live and on an album but there are lots who sound *BLAH!* live. Even some who sound *BLAH!* on an album.

Y'know, listening to the album for the first few times, I was also pretty disappointed. I LOVE me some Evanescence, and couldn't wait to hear this album. But I was a little worried to see what the band would sound like making new songs withou Moody's help.
And like I said, the first few times hearing each song (CMWYS included), I was unfortunately disappointed. It was good...but just now WOW like "Fallen" was to me.
...but then the songs started growing on me. And now I can safely say I love this album, too. Still not as much as "Fallen", no, but I do love it. I realize now that it was the same exact thing with "Fallen": at first I only really cared for the first single. But before I knew it, I let go of the 'skip track' button and could let that CD fly through front to back over and over and over again, and I'd love every song.
So yes, at first I was disappointed by "The Open Door"...but not anymore. I love it.
My new favorite Evanescence song is most definitely "Good Enough", the last song. That song's freaking BEAUTIFUL!!

It's pretty amazing what they can do to someone's voice with auto-pitch correctors and some compression, EQ and filters. I've heard the rumors that Amy Lee can't do it live, and that's a deal breaker for me. Most of Evanescence's stuff is too repetitive for my tastes. It's like they keep playing different version of the same three songs over and over again.

You do realize you're pumping your vocals through a delay pedal designed to accept completely opposite frenquencies from what your voice produces right? In other words, it makes it sound bad. Do yourself a favor and go buy a delay pedal or vocal effects processor MADE for your voice. It will make a world of difference.

Heard it, didn't like it. Outside of "Sick" and "I'm Sorry", I didn't particularly care for the singer's vocals.
I liked The Open Door. It did have to grow on me, but once it did, I really enjoyed it. Definitely not better than Fallen, but I found it to be a solid enough effort.

Haha. Seriously though, the DD-6 is all I have and I was experimenting. And honestly, my voice probably sounds better through my amp's reverb than through the DD-6 anyway. And yeah, I know both aren't built for voice. But I'm not a huge gear-head either. Part of me thinks I should learn more about tone and pitch and frequencies and keys and **** that like but also, part of me just doesn't care. If I can find something that sounds good to me than it's fine. If I ever play in a band again I'll probably make more of an effort because then it's important that you sound good to other people, even if you sound bad. Bad can be good if you know what I mean. You know what I mean. Please stay away form the WalMarts of the music industry. If you prefer going into a place where you buy "used" **** brand new then be my guest. Just know you're hurting people that really care about what they do and how their job is done. You generally get nothing but mindless morons in the supermarket guitar shops. Take your business to someone who needs it, and show places like GC that they can't sell cheap gear with moron salesmen and stay in business. Brook Mays went out the picture for the same reason. Duh, kidding.
I used to be pals with Progressive Music in Utah. They wouldn't sell you any guitar until they'd checked the intonation, put brand new strings on it and checked it out all over and inquired as to how you'd like it set up as far as action and s***.
You go to the GC here, point at the guitar on the wall and ask for "that", they'll get a ladder, take it off the wall, hand it to you and ask "Will that be cash or credit?"
Then you get home and 12th fret on the E string is a freaking Fsharp, LOL.

Terrible band. Predictable, bland, nu metal rubbish.
Their new songs sound just like their old ones. Very predictable. You can write an evanscence song in your sleep.
Song begins, insert female wailing with piano. Lasts for about a minute.
Kick in some guitar, song gets faster.
Insert more female wailing. Insert a white guy that thinks he's a rapper or something, who throws in the odd comment into the song here and there.
More electric guitar.
That's about 90% if not all Evanscence songs.

What bands like Evanscence lack is actual musical quality. They also wouldn't know subtlety if it bit them in the backside.

Some of their songs feature Amy on the piano...most don't.
There's definitely going to be a lot of guitar in their songs...they ARE a rock band, after all.
and your mentioning about "Insert a white guy that thinks he's a rapper or something, who throws in the odd comment into the song here and there" occurs in a grand total of ONE of their songs. Ever. Every other Evanescence song has Amy Lee only, unless you count female back-up vocals in many of their songs.

I still don't like them. They sound so produced and commercial and they're just bland.
