The latest South Park, Nintendo Wii was featured prominently with Eric Cartman wanting a Wii really badly.
Suprising he didn't want a PS3 huh? :hyper:

Is it up on YouTube?
I kind of wondered what South Park would treat the Wii, seeing as how they use Xbox 360 as the characters' console of choice (they are seen playing with it on several episodes.)

So they went with Wii as opposed to the PS3. That is the hot item most people are saying the kiddies want this holiday. Playstation is just a rehash.

Heh, it's kinda ironic Cartman tried to freeze himself for 3 weeks and earlier today I said I wanted to be in a come until the day before the Wii came out.

I was very surprised he wanted a Wii instead of the PS3, before he wanted a PSP. Also, are you sure you'll see it on YouTube, they just pulled all Comedy Central content.

Try that link sometime tomorrow, but I'm sure plenty of websites will have clips or the entire episode up also.

I just got through seeing it. If Part II continues the same story and doesn't go with the evolution/God themes too much, it should also feature a lot of Wii. But it was a very funny episode all the same. Ironically, though, I saw a lot of commercials during the broadcast that were from rival companies, including PS3 and Gears of War ads.
Adult Swim on Cartoon Network did a Wish-List for this holiday season, and Wii made the list. Xbox 360 and PS3 were nowhere to be found.

The Wii story was just a backdrop for Cartman to freez himself and go to the future.

My chubby younger brother Eric who wants a Wii should enjoy.

i also thought it was kind of a rip saying, how everyone is saying the wii is the future of gaming, and in the future they could care less about gaming.

The point they are going for is that even if everyone was atheist, there would still be wars. Religion is not the cause for war, it is just the excuse that humans use to go to war.

It's also ironic that you'd bring up that Cartman would want a Wii, since he's the 'big-boned', annoying kid that basically is hated by his own friends.
Remember kids, you can be like him and get a Wii!
[Not the best message, eh?]

Yet, strangely enough, he's one of the most beloved characters in pop culture.

Most people love the character though. He's the one most real life people are like as far as their darker desires. And most gaming geeks take after him anyway. I know it makes me want one more. And I hardly doubt his endorsement will cause sales to drop.

Actually, I'm not exactly sure of that. I've never heard anyone reference him, ever, actually.

That is true. More people watch South Park than the commercials for it. So Nintendo got lucky since they basically got free advertisement.

Highly unlikely. Those commercials are on every waking moment of the day. There has to be one person who does not watch South Park that sees them. At least one.
Anyway, my point still stands. You can be like Cartman (which isn't bad, the killing people and conniving is great) and have everyone in your immediate universe hate you, only to have an overlord-ian civilization be watching with rapture. Chew on that one.

Dude. Stop. Cartman has always been a big draw since the show premiered. He is the one most quoted, he is the one dead center on the movie poster, and damn if you never heard ANYONE in over 10 years reference or quote Cartman, you must come out of that cave.
The point is he is the most popular character in the show and since the show is a satire of current events he wants a Wii this Christmas and people are just laughing because it is so funny. He is not someone people look down on because he is the star of the show.
Do you honestly think PSP did bad because Cartman endorsed it? Cartman endorsed Passion of the Christ and most people loved that movie in this country (even though having bigot Cartman love it because he hates Jews probably was missed by most who don't watch this show).
And calm down, besides if he had endorsed PS3 or 360 (which ever is your console of choice) I'm sure you'd be pretty happy then.

It was meant as a joke. I don't really care if he endorses trojan condoms, I was just joking around. If I was serious, I'd be getting pissed.

It surely wasn't the best. Though the ending with the "Rise of the Sea Otters" was hilarious. I thought that Cartman's story was good but it tried to hard to push the line with the sex. However, the set-up for the athiests fighting each other still in the future I thought was really funny and of course "I shall crush your head past-child over my belly as if it were a clam!" is brilliant though.

It's a marketing ploy. Wii is short, universal, and you don't forget it.

Here are the reasons, at least according to Nintendo's PR:
It's unique. It further emphasizes how Nintendo's vision is very unlike the conventional gaming paradigm. And because of its obscurity, it will definitely turn some heads and garner attention that it otherwise wouldn't receive.
It's short. News articles and reviews have to write the name in full, instead of using shorthand (like "360" and "PS3.")
It's universal. It's a new word that anyone, anywhere can say without having to worry about a language barrier. Though an exception might be France.
It's fun. Like Google or iPOD before it, Wii is fun to say.
It's symbolic. We. Wii.I expect that it's going to catch on, if it hasn't already. If Nintendo markets this machine smartly, and if word of mouth spreads quickly, Wii could conceivably be the best-selling machine in the electronic industry; Wii has the practical components of, say, Google, and the social components of, say, MySpace, for mass market appeal. If you add the greatest games ever made, a mass-market price, and the most innovative interface this industry has ever seen into the mix, Wii will own.

How bad do you want a Wii?

That episode was BRILLIANT, brilliant I say! Okay last week's was average but this episode (which more revolved around religion and athieism) was probably the best of the new batch thus far and that says a lot because the 9/11 Conspiracy episode and WOW episode were great stuff too though.
It just hit every not perfectly and the end....poor Cartman indeed.

I'd have to agree. Last week felt like they were phoning it in with old gags, but this week, they did some new stuff. The Cartman talking to cartman thing was classic. I love it when they make Cartman an instant expert on stuff too. He was in the future for like what? A week? Good stuff. Finally, a South Park ep this season that was good.

Seriously, what the hell were they thinking when they came up with that name?
Someone pointed out that it's not "revolutionary", "new", or anything like they're trying to suggest it is, and thought about the angry backlash from people who thought they'd actually weild a sword, tennis racket, what have you.
Plus, look at how much attention it garnered just for changing names.
Wii, WoW, this season of South Park is apparently funded by the video game industry.

Do any of you realize that the opening of the episode was a Southpark version of Buck Rogers of the 25th century? Look up Buck Rogers on youtube. Now that in itself was hilarious!!!Some of you are probably too young to remember Buck Rogers. This season has been the best ever.If you still cant find the show on the tube then maybe you need to call The Hardly Boys.
