i do... and it sucked at first, but now i'm really digging being nocturnal.
it's weird though, because if i want to drink during the week (i work sunday night, midnight till 8am, until friday morining, midnight until 8am.) i have to do it in the mornings.
anyone else work this, or a similar shift? thought it might be a nice enough topic of discussion.

I used to work the late night shift about less than a year ago. I did it for almost 2 years. Definitely not a high point of my life as I couldn't sleep too well during the day, so I eventually had to get back to the day shift.
What I used to love is that there was actually peace and quiet, no bosses around, and the ability to basically do whatever the hell I wanted to. It had it's ups and downs but I'm the type of person that needs to be awake during the day and asleep at night.

I did it for about 15 years or so. It's great once you get used to it, but I don't want to go back to it, if possible.

i worked midnights for awhile, and really enjoyed it...when i was single. Not so much when i had a gf.

If I lived by myself and had my own car...yeah, I wouldn't mind working nights...until my screenwriting career took off like a donut at a weight loss convention.

the dreaded graveyard shift. ive worked a few of those and i mostly hated them. the worst was when i was a night auditor for an old school hotel. they didnt use computers. this was in 2004, so dont think im some old dude, these people were just seriously out dated. 6 hours of paperwork and percentages of that day, the same day a month before, and the same day a year before. then the average of all three. it was lame. i worked long enough for a paycheck and gave them the double deuce!

I worked overnights for ten years. I worked at a hospital, and that shift is hell in a hospital. Then I got married and then had a child, and then I quit without regrets. Averging six hours of sleep a week can be hazardous to one's health.

I didn't mine staying up late and sleeping during the day except that my aunt is incredibly noisy and took no heed of my sleeping patterns

I applied and didn't care about the shift since there was 24 hour security. I liked the shift differential though. 50 cents more an hour is not great, but its better than not getting it at all

I've been working nights for the better part of 10 years. I became noctural in college and never really went back. It's easy for me physically to work overnights.
Working in mental health is rewarding but it can be very political too. I like working by myself and not worrying about a boss looking over my shoulder. I don't have to worry about the petty arguments between co-workers during the day. I also don't have as much paper work.
Even with a family, I've been able to keep the night shift. I hope it always stays that way.

Yeah, in security you'll work some crazy hours. I've worked a couple 7 am to 11 pm shifts and 7 pm to 7 am as well. Not fun at all. :csad:
