Does everyone think they should use the James Howlett story for the past after the script review? I myself who is a big fan of the character would to see this story be in the movie. Since the James Howlett backstory is the official origin of Wolverine.

i really like wolverines orgin story, i thought it was great when the revealed who logan was, and it stil leaves mystery to his story and what happened to other characters so if they included it i wuld wouldn't mind at all!

Do you think that the average moviegoer wants to see Wolverine's childhood in Victorian era Canada? Or do you think they'd rather see the horror and militaristic intrigue of the Weapon X storyline?

They'll probably do both...I mean it beats that crap about him being bullied by jocks.

I'd be for a mixture of the Howlett/Weapon X storyline.

I dunno about both. I mean, the question of the Origin comes down to "Do you want to know where he came from or how he became Wolverine"? I prefer to see the latter.

Well...there is a way you can successful meld where he came from and how did he become who he is today. Films do it all the time.

The Origin story alone is sooooo long. I don't see more than a few glimpses of it or a summed up part of his dad being killed and his mom killing herself and him stabbing his real father Mr. Logan.

I just think it's pointless filler. If you have a Wolverine origin story and the general audience goes in and sees Victorian era Canada spliced in with Weapon X, they'll get antsy waiting for the Weapon X stuff and the "Pride and Prejudice" stuff to be over.
Weapon X will have a much deeper impact on the audience. Not only have we already seen glimpses of it, but it's far more shocking and brutal than Origin.

I think I'd prefer to see weapon X. Mysterious pasts should stay that way. Besides, if you want your audience to emotionally attach to the character, torture them horribly. Usually works.
Origins was good, in comic form. I'm not sure how well it would translate to the screen. There isn't enough of it really. Its got no balls.

I agree, stck with the Weapon X stuff for the most of it.

I think it'll be Weapon X-oriented. I wish they would adapt Origins, because I believe that would be a fantastic film, but I think the lowest common denominator effect won't allow that to happen.

I think theyīll go the Weapon X route, Weapon X PG-13, if thatīs possible. Altough I loved Origin, I simply canīt see it as part of this Wolverine movie. First they would have to tell the Origin story in, like, 15 minutes, find a very young Hugh Jackman version for it, etc...too much complications.

I would like them to at least establish that the claws were there before the adamantium thought. Not necessarily at the beginning but maybe in another brief blink and miss flashback in the movie making the audience go "WTF was that?". I mean last time we got a flash of Weapon X. Have this movie explore that. During this movie have a flash of Origin. Just to give the audience a brief glimpse and have them know that Wolverine didn't just start with Weapon X...Maybe even a dream. Like in first person view have him walking up a grassy hill to this big house and a redhead with her arms out stretched to him only to have her stabbed (by his bone claws) from behind and have him wake up.

I agree completely. Touch on it atleast with the bone claws.

An interview with Hugh on all his projects, and here's the Wolverine bit:

Then there's the much hyped Wolverine, confirming a start date in '08. "The script is done and better than the other three. It's a prequel, which deals with his origins, so we've just got to find a director now."

But that doesn't necessarily mean "Origin". After all, before "Origin", "Weapon X" was Wolverine's origin story.

It could mix a bit of both stories. Actually, since Wolvie himself doesnīt know his past, it could be told in a fragmented, non-linear way.

I think it would be nice to show quick flashbacks depicting scenes from origin througout the movie, simmilar to how he had nightmares about the weapon x procedure in X-men. While Logan is sleeping, show a nightmare, maybe of quick scenes depicting a young wolverine holdhing his bloody hands with little claws protruding from them over his father's dead body, and a shot of his mother screaming at him and calling him a monster. Jumbled shots, so the audience knows something really bad happened in his past, but you're not sure what.

Good call, I like that also. Flashbacks of the Howlett stuff, Weapon X for the heart of it. Does anyone know when this is suppose to be worked on?

They could do the story very similar to the Highlander series where they flashback through the current activity in the move to show some of the back story.

They are but they've tweaked in a new way from what I recall of the draft that was online there for a while.

right! I also believe that origin elements should be included. In fact, the movie shlould stand on explaining Wolverine's origin.

Good. Because after the last fiasco, they really need to take their time with this movie to make sure that it doesn't suck.

^I agree, lets take our time and do it right. Nothing worse than a great movie that is rushed......lets do it right.
