is that how he's going to look in teh film?
No, I'm afraid not. The TFs in the film don't look anything like traditional TFs, judging by the concept art and toy prototypes that have been leaked. Optimus Prime is VAGUELY recognizable, and that's about it.
As for this thing...*sigh*. I really don't want to have to fork over a C-note for an oversized handgun with scrawny legs, but I have feeling I'm going to, just to have someone to match up to MP-01. I'd rather he'd been a War Within-type tank, or even an Abrams, like that color sheet that was circulating a while back.

Hell they could have gotten more bulk if they just went with a more modern Gun like a 50 cal. Desert Eagle. But never the less he Still Looks great... My only real grip is that the scope is a little to large.

According to reports the silencer part of the gun won't be included plus the tip of the barrel will be painted orange. I wonder which transformer will get the masterpiece treatment next. I would have said Bumblebee except for the fact that VW is so against their cars being represented in such a fashion. I personally think a good candidate would be Grimlock.

plus the tip of the barrel will be painted orange. Only the one from www.bigbadtoystore.com is going to have that. The standard version will not...

Well, we all know that Hasbro is going to avoid doing a version of this.
That being said, I hope the next Masterpiece is Soundwave along with his tapes.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Every version coming into the US must be painted. It's the law.

I have no idea what you're talking about. Every version coming into the US must be painted. It's the law.Sorry bbts is the only one that is doing that...
This a Takara/Tomy figure Japanese only toy, so it is up to the individual US saler if they want to get the modified one which is what bbts is doing... In which case this is an adult collector piece so most salers don't have to get the one with orange caps. Which may end up just being a sticker.

Yeah, I don't picture a customs guy opening the box, transforming Megs to his alt-mode and shouting, "WE'VE GOT A REALISTIC RENDITION OF A LETHAL WEAPON HERE FOLKS!!"

That would seem unlikely. Megatron will probably come in gun form much like Starscream came in his jet mode.

You're basing this on the fact that Starscream came in alt-mode? That's flawed logic. If you use your common sense then you'd realize that it would hurt Takara to package the toys in gun mode because a lot of their sales will come from the US. Do you honestly think they don't know its going to be a customs hell for us to import a realistic looking weapon? So, logically, don't you think they'll realize this and put a bunch of pictures of him in robot mode...therefore if customs does open the package they'll see a robot instead of a realistic looking toy gun?
I didn't think Takara had it in them to do a gun mode of Megatron and I am really grateful that they are. Let's hope for the shoulder attachment and silencer.

New MP-05 Masterpiece Megatron Info - Accessories, Features
Information provided at Autobase Aichi has given us a few more details about the upcoming MP-05 release.
We are told that the trigger moves and there is a working safety lever. The fusion cannon is to have a working LED light, and Megatron comes packed with an energy mace. There is no mention of barrel extensions, scope, or stock.

^ You had me at 'energy mace'. Now I HAVE to buy the bloody thing. :oldrazz:I pre-ordered mine from a Canadian store "Ages Three and Up" yesterday for $94. That way I don't have to worry about having a US seller having to open the box and modify him with a orange plastic cap or sticker.

Masterpiece Megatron Confirmed To Be Diecast
From our friends at Fan To Fan:
- Kremzeek figure included (different mold from the one that comes with Kiss Players Autorooper x Atari)
- Working Trigger action when in Gun mode
- Same size as MP-01 G1 Convoy!!
- LED gimmick in scope
- Die-cast parts
- Memorable accessories include energy mace, laser-cutter and gun from Transformers: The Movie (used by Megatron in the fight with Optimus Prime).
- New transformation designs and concepts, for example moving the trigger part to the legs, improving overall Robot proportion.
- Due to toy gun regulation in the US, Walter P-38 Megatron was never in the plans when the Japan team worked with the US team. MP-05 Megatron is designed and developed solely by the Japan team, solely for the Japan market.

US laws prohibit the sale or transfer of replica guns unless they make it some funky colors.
But I don't need my megatron to have a hot orange barrel. :down

From www.tfw2005.com
Masterpiece MP-05 Megatron Will Be Packaged In Robot Mode
According to Lost and Found Toys Masterpiece MP-05 Megatron will come packaged in Robot Mode. If accurate all the debate about the orange barrel modification was possibly for nothing and the online retailers that currently are offering it won't have to go that route.
