.. made for and by the fans? With Jon Favreau asking the fans for suggestions and having major input in casting (not sure on this though), possible story points and maybe design? Jon Favreau myspace might be getting other inputs than we are.

Well it's certainly the first movie where Marvel doesn't have to put up with meddling from the studios since they are the studio now. So this is their chance to show that the main reason they've had in the past for their films no being so great(Hulk,DareDevil,X3, etc.) was studio interference as many have claimed. However if they don't get this one right, then they'll truly have no one to blame but themselves. I myself am cautiously optimitstic and am crossing all the fingers I can.

No. Don't ever be fooled into thinking that. It's simply the latest form of PR in Hollywood - make the fans think they are being listened to, that they have an input, like the movie is being made for them.

I agree.
Until we see the MAJORITY opinion of this or that making it's way into the movie, I'm just going to assume that we are being stroked to keep us quiet. Although, not being a total misanthrope, it COULD happen.

A film made by commitee is a film destined to fail.

Agree with Kev.

Besides many argued when Spider-Man came out it was a movie made by a fan for the fans as was its sequel. In reality it was a studio tent pole made by a fan for general audiences. It just was really good.

Same with Iron Man in many respects, they just aren't putting the fans in the complete dark like Raimi loves to do. It is just PR though.

Also one could argue the DD DC was am ovie made by a fan just for fans. Because MSJ is most obviously a fan and the only people who could like either cut of his movie, or have seen the DC for that matter, are indeed fans. Now whether they were happy with it is another story though.

I don't think Favreau is a liar.

Movies these days are becoming more and more catered to the internet and fans. It is pretty cool.
