... that the Decepticon logo bears a striking resemblance to Optimus Prime's head and the Autobot logo bears a striking resemblance to Megatron's head?

Well, its not like Megatron and Optimus are the first leaders of the Decepticons and Autobots.

The autobot symbole was made to look human and transformer. If anyone, it looks like bumblebee. Just becuase Megatron has a mouth and nose, doesnt mean it looks like him. Look at it, I know I am. And the Decepticon symbol is based on Soundwave, not Optimus Prime.

Vector Prime is such a badass toy.Vector Prime is a very Badass toy indeed. From the design drawings shown at the Botcon his original head design was going to be the Autobot symbol just like the Last Autobot.

To me the Autobot symbol looks like G1 Prowl. Everything from the upside down triangle thing on the forehead to the wings, to the eye position and sides of the face to the little box thing on the chin.-

And like said above the decepticon symbol is Soundwave.
