Oh God, OH GOD!!! No, not that clip again...it's awful...it's hideous, Clive Mantle as Nuclear, the music, the wirework, the sound effects. NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

wow...I didn't think the movie could get much worse...but that'd do it for sure.

And that music...what. the. hell? It's like the soundtrack to an acid trip...

ugh.

I believe the music was temp music. Still a very horrible scene though. Poor Christopher looks so bored. :csad:

I know, but it still cuts through me...and so the nightmares begin!

That was hilarious! "Nuclear Man" looked like a groovy Frankenstein. I'm guessing this was the character before the one we got in the final cut? Either way, it sucks. I hate to make fun of Chris, but I'm sure he had to be a part of these character designs because IV was pretty much his story.

Wow....and I thought Superman IV was bad before, but that was terrible. Also, what was up with that music? I was half expecting a giant orgy.

Thank God that never made the cut. The theatrical version was (dare I say it?) better than this crap....

I swear, it's like a made-for-TV Superman. Even Reeve's wig is terrible.

That is Nuclear Man #1. The one that is in the theaterical version is Nuclear Man #2. Watch it and look for these scenes. That girl that is in that scene, well you do see her in the theaterical version. Why is she not surprise by Superman? They look like the seen each other before. Ok, another scene when Lex and Lenny are working in darkness with the light shinning just on them. The goop that Lex has, that is from Nuclear Man #1. Superman knock Nuclear Man #1 into a light pole so hard it turn him into the goop that Lex has in that scene with Lenny. Nuclear Man #1 was unstable. Ok, when Nuclear Man #2 arrives, Why isn't Lex surprise by his presents? Could it be that there was another Nuclear Man?

What more info on Nuclear Man #1 go here:
http://www.supermancinema.co.uk/superman4/general/extra_footage/index.htm

The movie was good but it didn't have a great budget as the other movies. That is why the movie bomb. It had very poor special effects.
Personally, I am glad that we do get to see the famous scene and also glad that is isn't part of the movie as well. That scene has been talked about for years. Only clues and photos of it has appear but we do get to see it like it or not. Yes, it may made the movie worst but finally we see what it looks like. I think that it should of been out of the light for years but not part of the movie itself. They did the right choice of putting it in the deleted scenes.

Only two scenes has been seen with the movie and they are:
Superman saves Moscow from a nuclear bomb, which Nuclear Man ignited.
A girl is saved by Superman during a tornado created by Nuclear Man.

They was shown on TBS back in the late 80s and early 90s. Which I think they are part of the deleted scenes as well.

That and it was horribly written. I'm still wondering why Mariel Hemmingway was able to breathe in space, let alone nearly FALL.

This is what I said in the other thread:

No, it's horrible and it can't be fixed in any way.

Trust me! It can be fixed. If I had the proper equipment in my house I could fix it. And, this is how:

1) Speed up the action. It takes too long for them to do something. I would speed it up Peter Hunt style.

2) Use good sound effects.

3) Better music! Music that is exciting, suspenseful, and action-packed.

Trust me...it can be fixed.

im pretty sure that in one shot before reeve hits the car, its a stunt double?
am i right?

anyways, its not that bad

the only problem is the guy playing nuclear man 1 is making stupid faces

if they just made him act seriously it would have been better

nevertheless, we are still missing the lifting of a skip and a car by superman, there are pictures of reeve lifting a skip up in the air and also a car,

so these are missing

still, great to see some new reeve footage this year,

especially the donner cut of s2 awesome!

the music is indeed creepy, its from an old BBC kids show in the UK, you can probably download from somewhere.

probably due to the fact most of the movie was filmed in the UK,

and Nuclear man 1 is british actor Clive Mantle who was on the Hospital drama "Casualty",

has anyone seen the frying pan stuck to Mantles privates during his birth in superman 4? i bet people are glad that they didnt keep that in the movie!

What about the crap choeography, the crap special effects, Reeve's crap wig, crap sets, crap dialogue?

its not that bad

its obviously unfinished, and low budgeted,

dont forget, they spent only 17 million on the whole movie,

and even scenes in the final theatrical release cut look unfinished

add to that, than Jon Cryer and even Reeve himself said the film was unfinished

and dont forget Cannon went bust that year as well to top it off, so all in all there were too many problems occuring at the same time

yes, the movie might suck, but nowhere near as bad people make it out to be,

the nuclear man moonfight and general fight scenes are ok and bearable,
reeve's performance is great throughout and the un speech and ending speech are good,
kidder is good as lois in this movie and there are some nice scenes with chris reeve,
and some of the live flying take offs are quite nicely done, especially the one where he flies off from the great wall of china and from the italian village.

dont forget, other than superman 1 and bits of 2, most people didnt think of equating comic book character with "serious movie"

dick donner managed to get it right.

It was only until Batman in 89 we got another serious comic book movie like the original superman movie by donner

^^ Exactly right.

Just remember that films like Catwoman or Batman and Robin had the benefit of huge budgets, marketing campaigns, starpower, and massive studio support.

Meanwhile, Superman IV wasn't even a finished film. The only 'push' it got from the studio was when they ran out of money and just pushed it out the door.

The film is a total mess, but it's easier to forgive when you realize it never really had a chance of being good. And the fact that it has ANY redeeming moments is a testament to Christopher Reeve. His scenes at the farm, his reunion flight with Lois, his address to the UN, Clark's comedic affair with Lacy...all of those things are better than anything which was in something like Batman and Robin.

Actually, I think if Nuclear Man hadn't been such an incredibly bad villain, the film would've been a lot more tolerable.

Well, the footage is obviously not lost, so why the hell can't we get it on the dvd?!

Granted, it's terrible stuff, but I would like to know anything and everything about these films. Give me something worth spending $20 on.

i dont see why everybody has so much hate for it

sure its not the best movie ever

but considering it was made by a company with ****e production values like cannon

and was practically unfinished it still did well and made a profit.

and its not as bad as batman and robin.

at least the movie tried to have a point, which is more than can be said for majority of trash today.

in fact if i recall, it was actually a hit in the UK, it was actually one of the first films i saw on cinema, quite cool at the time going to watch a superman movie on the big screen!

shame it took bloody 20 years for another.

no, they were actually going bankrupt and they were heavily in debt

the last film they released was Over the Top with Stallone and all that money went on his salary

the bastards just ruined everything!

quite surprised though, that John Williams came back and did a few new themes with his old pal Alexander courage.

i would have though he wouldn't work with a crappy company like cannon

unless you're being sarcastic, nothing in the world or miracle can save that sequence. It got to be a joke of some sort, Reeve would never put himself in that situation and I thought Nuclear Man in the final movies was bad. They should've burned the negatives for this as well if not then I'll be more than happy to burn it for them.
