That's right, kiddies! The very first Spider-Man offerings from Hasbro are now available. You've got Spider-Man Origins: Signature Series and Spider-Man Origins: Battle Packs now in Toys R Us and presumably other stores.

http://www.hasbro.com/marvel/spiderman/

For those who may not have known, the Signature Series is a collection of 8-9" figures in fabric costumes. The packaging is interesting, but the figures themselves are highly lacking, especially Dr. Octopus, who looks like he has a pillow stuffed down his shirt.

The Battle Packs are even less inspiring. Re-releases of older Toy Biz material, but with sloppier paint jobs than the original releases had. Though if you always wanted a movie Green Goblin figure but missed him the first time around, this is your chance.

I'm curious as to what they'll do with the movie figures. The titanium figures are top notch.:yay:

Well folks, the Signature Series wore on me over time and I decided to try them out. Spider-Man and Green Goblin, precisely. They're not perfect by any means, but they are nice in a hokey retro way. They're slightly out of scale with the old Famous Covers of nearly ten years ago, but their inner proportions are much better, particularly in the hands and feet.

Love new Mysterio but shame they can't make the dome more rounded.

Anyone seen him on Ebay yet?

I bought Doc Ock and have him next to my Famous Covers Spider-Man, and yes, Ock is slightly taller, but you dont really notice unless you're actually looking for it.

I'll probably get Punisher when he comes out.

Whats your thought about new Mysterio figure and have you seen him yet?

The dome is alright but I'm sure they could have altered to make it more rounded.

Like to know what others think?

You know, when i first saw the photos, i decided to pass on this line (i have all the animated figures, Famous Covers, Spider-Man Classics, Marvel Legends, movie figures, mini busts, book ends, and a few statues already!)...

But i happened upon it by chance, and loved it in person. He's not quite as stout as i would liike him to be, but the sculpt for his face and head looks excellent, imo....every time i look over at him on my shelf, i cant help but grin, so yes, i think he would make a nice addition to your Doc Ock collection.

The following GR movie figs pics are from

http://www.mwctoys.com

my favorite review site for figs, busts, statues, and 6th scales.

anyways.

New Gr Pics (this is the fig I have):

http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_gr1_7.jpg

http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_gr1_9.jpg
http://www.mwctoys.com/images/review_gr1_14.jpg

Some things to note about this figure:

The chain is permanently in his right hand, which is permanently a fist. This is because of the "actionfeature" (OMG!!) which is simply a button on GR's back that makes him fling the chain around.

This figure also has 2 interchangeable heads, one of Nicholas Cage and the other of GR.

I really hope we see some SP3 figure protos next month at Toyfair.

And by the way, I got the chain out of my Blaze figure's hand. You can even rap it around his chest and hook it on the shoulder spikes to give it that casual look.

My local Toy R'Us only has the first wave. So I can't have the Iron Spider yet. Theres the classic spidey though. The classic red and blue spidey (webbing function and hurricane kick version) both looks crap. But Secret Wars Spidey is one cool looking dude. Is he worth getting?

So Iron Spidey is worth the buy?

It seems like his (amazingly cool) claws might get in the way, and break easy. I had the very old Doc Ock with bendy arms when I was little, and I broke 'em. So is Iron Spidey pretty flexible?

I dont know how to upload pics, but this are the toys I broke...

And to answer Sly Guy, the I just got the Iron Spidey and it was pretty flexable, and the attachments or whatever you want to call them shouldn't break easy as they are made of a more rubbery plastic.

I'm still undecided on whether or not to get the Venom. I mean, I only have a few comic style figs, most Avengers characters, and doesn't it have some weird greenish tint on it, or did I see a defective one at Walmart the other day?

SlyGuyTtjn

If I were you, I'd get the Venom in the middle... It's obviosuly the most accurate. The one you're talking about in the new Origins is on the right.
