What would happen if everyone intermingled and we ended up as one human race/one colour? But to dream in technicolour ... :yay:
Well scientists say that blondes will be breeded out in a few hundred years so.....

I'd go for triplefive.
You know if she was into Asians and I was into Asians.
And if she didn't have a bf, and I didn't have a gf.

So Triple 5 -- what do you and your friends see as a the key to your attention/affections? Just curious about that. Obviously the foot rubs are over-rated ...
i can't speak for all of my friends, and i can't definitively say what attracts me to somebody... probably at the basic level, charm and the ability to make me laugh non-stop. even when i'm trying not to laugh.
on a deeper level, i'm impressed by well-educated, well-spoken people.
CR.
I'm white and asian, my gf is white, black and hispanic.
Before her, I dated mostly white girls. Now I have a thing for girls who are mixed.
I'm Chinese, my boyfriend is 3/4 Lebanese and 1/4 Italian. I've dated a couple black guys, lots of the whitest of the white, and one mixed Japanese... but none of these before i was 18 because i've been with the same person since, so they don't really count.

Why? That's just stupid. It's not like blacks or asians are a different species from whites.

So I am bored. To address the original poster:
Sure, some guys are intimidated by attractive girls. But these guys are not what attractive girls are attracted to anyways. There is nothing wrong with having standards either. So you are right… somewhat.
Having conversed with older (30-40s) and established men who are well off (some own their own business), very happy, healthy (workout regularly) and decent looking, I learned a few interesting things. I mention this group, because they have no problem attracting women. They are not players, just guys who attract a lot of women.
5 turn-offs (brutally honest) even if she is physically attractive:
They are usually not interested in women 29+, some even as low as 27. This has to do with fertility, it depreciates after 27. Between 30-35 is strictly sex, nothing long term. Anything over 35+ is dismissed.
They also are not interested in career women with high paying jobs, such as managers, lawyers and physicians. They point out the high divorce rates with career women. They themselves already have money and an abundance of assets, so finding a partner who makes a lot of money means spit.
They are not interested in women with masculine traits; overly bossy, pushy and controlling (emphasis on the last one). They prefer feminine women, and ones who accept who they are, meaning the woman does not try to "change" him.
The moment the women tries to pressure him into marriage, he dumps her on the spot.
They hate feminists. Period.
There you go. These guys do get flack from women for their 'expectations', and you can argue about this day and night. But they do not give a damn, because they can afford to be this picky and women continue to flock to them like wild geese (it has gotten to the point where they do not even have to make an effort to pursue).

honestly, if i tell someone i think they're good-looking and they come off with something about how they don't think they are... i'd probably just walk away from the situation.
we all know over-confidence is a killer, but i have better things to do with my time than convince someone that i think they're hot
My first girlfriend was like that. The girl just wouldn't accept a compliment. It was frustrating, and it really put me off. I'd tell her she's pretty, and she'd mope and say she wasn't. Stupid girl.

It depends...I dont share a lot...whereas I've been around women in my family, who IMO, share too much. My dad is reserved...I'm like my father.
And I dont think drugs and incarceration validate anything they may say about me being attractive -- crack and prison would make any female (or male) seem attractive.

kainedamo, you are an odd fellow. I get guys not liking manly (in attitude) women, you want just exactly that. Who cares if a girl is all huffy and pissed about some trivial matter? Some girls love playing those stupid mind games to "test you" (which I find not only annoying, but offensive). Just ignore it or call out on her BS. If she persists, warn her or next her. Improve yourself and find a better woman.
You should give Europe (i.e. France, West Germany), Russia and Asia (eastern coast) a visit to see the different types of women there. They are less uptight and clique'ish than the average North American woman :D :hyper:

I really do think that attractiveness is in the heart of the beholder. How someone thinks of themselves is important I think as how others view us. If we think we are hot, we become hot/attractive.

I guess we each relate to different characters that we can associate ourselves with. Maybe that is why celebrities are so popular? People think they are special?
I have always enjoyed the comics I have read like GR, Batman and Green Lantern. I guess I aspired to be like them in confronting evil. I guess that is what I expected here, but I don't have a ton of experience with boards or Yahoo either. I don't have all the time I used to with two kids to "wrangle."
The times that I do chat with somebody a picture seems more personal and I guess that is why I asked. It is interesting though how many people meet and chat on the net and fall in love without seeing each other. Just supports my idea that we should not judge the book by its cover. Well if they're your personal friends, then it's alright for them to use their own pics. But the thing is, the internet ISN'T personal, so I'd guess that'd be a way of explaining why peoples' avatars aren't of themselves.

They have different sweets over there. I have been to Ireland and they import the sweets from Britain. You can get some of them here in Canada, but they are wicked. They taste much better than ours, but again are more sugary and deadly calorie wise.
All the best on your studies. Enjoy a great time in a great city!

To get a 50 x 50 Avatar you need at least 300 posts.
Then either make your own avatar, have someone make one for you and either host it on like photo host page or upload it from your computer.
After 3,000 Posts you get a 75 x 75 Avatar.
And after 6,000 Posts you get a 100 x 100 Avatar.

I try to stay confident, but of course I too have my own insecurities to squash just like anyone else :)
No, most ladies here do not post their own pictures due to the large amount of immature males on this board. It ends up causing too much trouble.
me too! i'm totally okay with myself, but i still look in the mirror every day and go, "ugh this, and this, and this"... nobody's perfect, but it's just a matter of accepting it and embracing it
i posted in the photo album thread just because i just wanted to preempt the is-she-a-he discussion that seemed to be coming, but i have like 5 gigs of pictures on my computer that i'm totally not posting here. i've had myself in my last two avatars too. i figure i'm not cool enough here for anyone to get all weird with my pictures... but i'm really not about to open myself up for that completely either.

His girlfriend? :p Seriously though, I'm sure that other countries have completely different outlooks than American women. Our country is SO obsessed with what is "hot" and it has resulted in a lot of insecure people.
I find that in the West (US/UK/Canada), a lot of people dictate life through other people's eyes. To please others, placating in the excess or whatever you want to call it. While this type of action is normal (solidarity), us men are guilty and conditioned into overdoing it. Not just towards women, but to others such as families and employers. For whatever reason, it seems to make these people - who serve to please - ironically "feel empowered". When it is the opposite, if you take a step back. This is the root of insecurity in the west. All this leads to a rather hollow life.
Just look back, maybe mommy and daddy told you to be an engineer but your first love is music. You do what mommy and daddy said, and you feel empowered having met the approval of others. Internally you are not satisfied.
I guess the only way out of this rut is to not give a damn, and go your own way to please yourself instead. But you will need to develop a thick skin to do this.

Thanks to you and everyone for wishing me a happy B-day!
And yeah, the older you get the less intimdated you are by attractive woman, and anything else that you may deem as intimidating.....
..it's why you see alot of older guys with younger HOT girls. It's not that these woman only like older guys and are not interested in guys their age, it's just that the older guys aren't afraid to approach these hotties....

i met mine at university, where he was an orientation week coordinator... and then i saw him at a few parties and talked to him.
actually that's a lie, the second time i could probably just barely see/speak/function but i spent the entire time massaging his arm because "he must have been tired from pumping the keg". yeah. not one of my finer moments. wouldn't think that it would lead to a four year-long (and running) relationship.
but to answer this as fruity intended, i picked him up a gay bar :P

Can I get an amen? (AMEN! Alrighty.)
I guess even though I try to stay out of that, I still find myself subject to it. That or I seem to be wanting to do too many things at once, and then end up doing crap for all of them. Like, I want to go to grad school but that involves studying for/taking the GRE, but I just discovered comics and I want to DRAW but I also can't give up skating since I like it too much (not to mention I need the strength training since I'm losing weight, especially muscle mass. I hate working out and I'm apparently not eating enough either). Oh, did I mention I have a full-time job too? *cry* Never enough hours in the day....
I don't think I'm hideous, but I never get attention from guys. I think there's a pretty logical answer to that though - I never go out. I like staying in and doing my own thing, but I'm apparently into such random things that I never "belong" in any one group either. Oh well.

^ I'm surprised this hadn't come up before. I've heard a lot of guys say that before. I even remember thinking it a couple of times. This may explain why 'hawt' women's attention get relegated to a rude comment. If most guys are figuring that they already have someone, then wouldn't it stand to reason that mostly jerks would approach the girl.

I often find myself just friends with hot women, its normally through work. After working with them I get to know them better and I end up becoming really good friends with them but I never have a relationship with any of them. I'm quite happy like this as well, believe it or not but they are capable of an intelligent conversation.

Cars and jobs don't really factor much into attraction these days. Maybe if you're in the south, I dunno.
I don't get why the "she must have a boyfriend" thing should be that much of a discouragement. I've stolen from, and been stolen from. It doesn't take a lot for a girl to switch from one guy to another.

^That right there is why you don't get anywhere. Maybe they'll walk away if you say you have no car or a job, maybe not. May as well jump into the fray instead of just standing on the sidelines. I go up to girls I feel won't give me the time of day all the time, but I also work in the sales industry so that mentality is pretty much embedded. :o

Am I the only one who sometimes think it's total b.s. when an attractive woman says that men don't ask her out or approach her?
Not to say it isn't true, because some men do get intimidated when being around attractive women (hell, I do sometimes); but other times I think what they're really saying is men that THEY LIKE aren't asking them out, not that men don't approach them period.
...But you don't do that. Right?
