View Full Version : The Four Horsemen, Spidey-style

Today I found myself pondering which Spider-Man villains I would cast for the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse -- Pestilence, Death, War, and Famine.
Pestilence -- Doctor Octopus
While this might seem an odd choice at first, when you consider the tentacled terror's connection to nuclear radiation (atomic physics being his greatest field of expertise, followed closely by robotics) and his complete willingness to cause destruction on a massive scale with both nuclear and biological weapons, and the role fits much more snugly. Really, all one has to do is think about the lasting effects that radioactive fallout can have on the health of anyone living in the area and the title of Lord Pestilence suits the doctor quite well.
War -- Carnage
Do I need to explain this one further? :)
Death -- Vulture
Again, a pretty obvious choice to me, though I'm betting someone else'll have a better idea.
Famine -- ??
This one has me stumped. Can't think of anyone from Spider-Man's rogue's gallery that would fit.

How about Carrion? His touch kind of makes his victims waste away....

Famine--Kingpin, because he ate all the food in the world. Fattycakes.
War--Doc Ock (he started the Sinister Six--the closest thing to a supervillain army)
Pestilence--Venom (seeing as how the symbiote can hop from owner to owner and ruin them)
Death--GG (since he is the one responsible for the most famous murder in Marvel)

Pestilence -- Demogoblin with some biological weapons pumpkin bombs
War -- Shriek
Death -- Carnage
Famine -- Carrion
Oh wait...this is Maximum Carnage minus evil Spidey guy.
Can't have that.
I'll switch out with Demogoblin (who's dead anyway) with Vermin -- I think he's still alive.
And change out Carnage with...D'Spayre!!! Always liked him. He doesn't fit the role as much as Carnage, but he sure as hell looks the part.

But D'Spayre isn't really a Spidey rogue...more of a Dr. Strange villian, no?

That's it. There was a Marvel Team-Up with Spidey and Man-Thing, iirc, and they fought D'Spayre.

i haven't the foggiest, i don't know what a pestilence is supposed to fulfill so on a good bet, the chameleon could fulfill that role...since he can fulfill almost any role...
:o
actually i should change around my war and death votes, since war is generally the leader of the bunch

Generally Pestilence spreads disease and plague. :) Though in the book Good Omens, he was replaced by Pollution.

That's right. It was D'Spayre's very first appearence.
Looking it up at http://www.samruby.com/Villains/Dspayre/dspayre.htm he's met up with Spidey a few more times after that.
I guess he could be seen more as a Strange villain by now, just like Kingpin started out in ASM and is now more of a DD villain. Still I'd like to see D'Spayre being a regular rogue for Spidey.
