WHAT IF'S:


The crucial element to the game: each character who is applied for comes with one of these doo-dads.


-XAVIER and MAGNETO's roles are reversed, ie: XAVIER is against humanity, Magneto wishes to save it.

-PETER PARKER never rid himself of the symbiote, being consumed by it.

-DAREDEVIL killed the Kingpin and took up his position as the crime lord.

-RICK JONES is the HULK, and has almost total control.

-WOLVERINE is stilll under the control of Weapon X.

-Only SANDMAN'S childish side remains from the split.

-BEAST never suffered his further mutation

-VULCAN grew up with his brothers, and is now on MAGNETO'S side.

-MR. IMMORTAL joined the avengers after growing up in New York.

-The Phoenix force inhabited ROGUE instead, and she ended up joining MAGNETO'S brotherhood of mutants.

-GAMBIT never gained control of his powers and they corrupted him.

-NORMAN OSBORN never went insane, and became the HOBGOBLIN instead.

-BIG BERTHA was self centered until her rejection from society, where she was take in by the brotherhood.

-GHOST RIDER was saved from his deal with Zarathos and bonded with Yeshua and Azrael to become the spirit of redemption and execution.

-TONY STARK made ironmen for the government, whilst keeping the ultimate upgrades for himself.

-When FRANK CASTLE'S family was exectued, he was shot and suffered brain damage which fractured his psyche and distorted his memory and mind.

-ADRIAN TOOMES was a police officer, forced into retirement, upon BLACKI DRAGO'S death, he took his equipment to become the VULTURE and continue fighting crime.

-JEAN GREY was abducted by the Shi'ar as they thought she possesed the phoenix force. However learning she didn't, she was sent to earth to retrieve the one with the phoenix force.

-DOC OCK didn’t become a criminal and worked his way up in SHIELD until he gained control of it. Now he secretly uses SHIELD for his life of crime.

-HAVOC lost control of his powers after running away and killed several people. Atoning for his sins he joined the Brotherhood, although he still has a short temper and is prone to outbursts of anger.

-NAMOR married Sue Storm and left his kingdom for the land with his lover. The fantastic four were never formed.

WHAT IF? MARVEL RPG SIGN-UP FORM

Screen Name: Eddie Brock Jr.

Character you would like to play: Eddie Brock AKA Toxin. (Go ahead, re-read that as much as you want. It's not going to change.)

WHAT IF? PROPOSAL(and explain why if you can): What if Eddie Brock bonded with the Toxin symbiote? (Explanation in the next section.)

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English: The Toxin symbiote gives Eddie all the abilities of its father, Carnage, and its grandfather, Venom. Therefore, it has the ability to shoot webs, turn invisible, shape-shift, climb on walls, generate weapons from itself, etc.

(Still confused? Ok, here: ) Eddie Brock was at the peak of his career at the Daily Globe when he was approached by a man who claimed to be the infamous Sin-Eater. Eddie wrote a wonderful article called "MY INTERVIEW WITH THE SIN-EATER." Eddie respected the man's wishes, and therefore, he did use the man's name in the article. Eddie's popularity soared and pressure mounted. The police begged him to reveal the man's identity. Eddie wrote a follow-up article which revealed the man's identity.

(Now, here's where it deviates from the original.)

However, Eddie could not bring himself to publish it. The next day, Spider-Man revealed that Stan Carter was the real Sin-Eater. All along, Eddie had interviewed the wrong man. Eddie was embarrassed until he realized that nobody knew that he had screwed up. Eddie quickly destroyed the follow-up article and claimed that he knew it was Stan Carter all along. Eddie's life only got better from there. Now he was a respectable journalist, and he received all the perks that came with that.

However, it appeared that no one can escape their fate. Not even Eddie. One day, he came across the 1000th symbiote. Eddie had no clue what this thing was when it attached to him. Eddie was scared at first, but he learned to embrace it. Now that Eddie was no longer fueled by a hatred for Spider-Man, he used his new suit - which he nicknamed Toxin - to fight injustice and to protect the innocent.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. Eddie Brock is my favorite villain, (duh, look at my username), and I'm quite proud of this spin I put on him.

2. It'll be fun playing Eddie Brock as a true hero, not a villain or an anti-hero.

3. Toxin needs some love, too. :yay:

What can you bring to this game? I can bring a knowledge of how things are run around here, and therefore, I won't do anything that I know is wrong (such as bunny without permission, etc.)

Character you would like to play: Eugene "Flash" Thompson aka Venom

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English: Flash Thompson went to the same high school as Peter Parker. In fact, he spent his days bullying Peter. After graduation, Flash reconciled with Peter and enlisted in the US Army. While serving, word of the hero Spiderman made its way into the military ranks. Flash was envious of the new found hero. Upon Spiderman becoming evil, the military put in motion a plan to fight the villain. Flash Thompson was chosen. The military experimented on his body giving him very similar powers to those of Spiderman. He had enhanced strength, agility, the ability to stick to objects, organic web shooters, even spider sense. Flash was given a gray and black costume made by the military and given the name Venom by his superiors.

By the way, Spideyssuperfan, I'm going to do a TINY bunny of Spider-Carnage in part 2 of my prologue. Eddie is going to hear the police mention Spider-Carnage when he walks near a crime scene. After all, Spider-Carnage has to give birth to Toxin. Plus, this is all told in flashback, so it shouldn't interfere with Spider-Carnage.

They eloped. since shes unable to live underwater, Namor abandoned his underwater kingdom to live on land which created a power vacuum in atlantis and has lead to Namor and Sue being on the run from atlantean bounty hunters.

Reed became a recluse.

Johnny Storm, became John Storm, the head of Storm industries, and a movie star. Storm industries has become a weapons manufacturer selling to the government. Recently John Storm became the vice-president of the uinted States upon the presidents assasination and the then-vice president asecenion to the higher office.

Ben Grimm is employed by Storm Industries, and John's body guard and enforcer.

Sue was recently kidnapped by an unknown entity, and namor went to John for his help in finding her. Unfotunately, Mastermind had taken over John's Satellites, leaving JOhn essentially blind. Accordingly, John told Namor to disable Mastermind's satellite uplink as this was the only way to find Sue- Namor did so.

Namor is now on his way back to Storm Industries with Nocturne, and Sunspot.

Hey, I am alive, just been rather busy. HIV test is like next week since you remembered, lol. I think it's funny to be honest. Anyhow, I love what's happening here!

I will be dropping punisher soon, as he's been unconscious for a very long time now.....lol.

It looks like spidey will be main focus at the mo, i wonder why at this time of the year......lol

anyway, I loved that morlun idea, the idea of spidey coming back to kill himself is shazam!

BUT, I think Jean Grey will need taking up soon, so Punisher might be dropped for her, as for mastermind, I still have some plans, but when solo-ing i forget to post as often, so I prefer working wth people, anyhow, let me know thoughts and stuff, and did I ever mention I love Toxin? One of my fav's, amazing artwork with the toxin series also! I expect lots of scans :)

Powers and a brief description of the character in proper English: Reed has the ability to stretch any part of his body and he can shapeshift. He is also extremely intelligent, allowing him to create unique devices and make multiple scientific break-throughs.

After losing Sue to Namor, Reed disappeared. He became a recluse and the world thought they had seen the last of the world-famous scientist. However, out in the desert, Reed began to plot. The emotional scars were too unbearable and Reed lost his mind. He built a large array of weapons and came back to New York as Dr. Doom.

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. We need to see what happened to Reed.

2. We can't go on without Dr. Doom.

3. I love twisting characters.

Guys, I was wondering...since this is the 1st season, we haven't come across this....but how does the season continuity work in this RPG?

I was thinking that every season should be its own story. That way, we can try different What If? proposals every season, rather than be held down by the ones established now.

Plus it's less intimidating to new players that way. They don't have to research past seasons.

I hope all that made sense.

I think, though, that at the start of a new season, it might be good if we go over the past What-Ifs and see if there are any we want to retcon.

Because if I had signed up as Spider-Man at the start of the season, I would've done: What if Spider-Man had stopped Uncle Ben's killer?

It would be kinda similar to the What If? comic of the same concept.

Peter Parker wasn't himself. He never had been, really. In school, he was the nerd that nobody liked. Then, after that experiment, he was Spider-Man. A superhero, trying to do the right thing, that, surprise surprise, nobody liked. Then, he encountered that black goo. The goo had covered his own suit, giving him a new symbol and a refined control over his powers. He knew something was wrong with it. He tried to drive it away, but he didn't have the stomach to do it completely. The power the suit gave him... he couldn't deny that he enjoyed it. An overwhelming sense of freedom had driven him to put his Spider-Man costume on in those first weeks he had the new suit.

Then things got crazy. First, he thought that his attitude had changed with the suit. In time, though he started to think differently. He'd done things he had never thought of doing before. Hurting people, murdering them, even. The first was the Vulture. His life had gone so easily. A quick kill.

The evil inside Peter, the constant and raging urge for revenge had been heightened by the black costume. For a while, Peter was in control, fighting the anger, pain, and temptation that came with such power. But eventually, he gave in.

Don't be mistaken, the Black Suit was a hero, or at least trying to be. That part of Peter had rubbed off on it. That, however, was the only part.

Parker had even managed to escape the symbiote's cold, unforgiving grasp for a few bittersweet moments. But, in the end, he was again captured by it.

The moment that Peter Parker was truly lost, however, was when the Suit killed Madame Web, the one chance Peter had at saving himself.

He had blown up at Aunt May, he had let Mary Jane kill her own father, but he had never truly hurt anyone he had cared about before. Not until then, at least.

Peter Parker is sleeping right now. Well, that's not saying much, he's never really there. It's just the suit. But the suit, too is sleeping. Dreaming of what could be.

My eyes snap open after seeing that horrible image. I, Peter Parker, really hope that was a sick dream. I look around and see that I've fallen asleep on a gargoyle on the Empire State building... again.

"Good Morning, New York! Are you ready for another Spider-riffic day?!" I say sarcastically.

I lunge off of the building and shoot a webline out and catch onto the underside of a news chopper. Heh. News.... what've they ever done for me? They make me out to be a ruthless, killing, evil freak. Alright, so nowadays those things are quite true. But, before, before I had taken control of my own life, I was a good man. An honest man.

I hear a cry come from an alleyway. Several sirens sound. The cops'll get there soon.

They can have the left overs.

I land on the fire escape of the building that is on the side of the alleyway. Typically, I'd hate making a massive noise when arriving on a crime scene, but I don't sweat the small stuff anymore.

I slide down a webline from the bottom of the high fire escape and see a man holding a knife to a woman's throat as he starts undressing her.

I slide down so that I'm right behind him.

"Ahem." I say. He whirls around and drops the knife. "Shouldn't you buy this kind woman a drink first? Call me old-fashioned, but that's what I'd do."

He grabs her around the throat and heaves her in front of him. I hesitate... something I haven't done in a while.

Why do I even bother hesitating? This guy is chump change.

"Oh, please, puddin'. I could use your face as a squeegee for my windshield if I wanted to." I grin under my mask.

"Say, that's not a bad idea!" I shoot a webline out and catch him around the face. I heave him into the air along with me and hurl him out of the alleyway.

He lands hard on the top of a cab, sending the advertisement on top flying.

I swing casually off of the webline and spin around a nearby traffic light, letting go so that I land right next to the cab.

I grab the man by his hair and haul him down onto the hood, with his face facing the driver's seat. "Still with me, big guy?"

He grumbles.

"Good." I web his hands behind his back, pull his head back, and smash his face through the windshield.

"We go left and right to get the best clean! Up and down will just leave streaks."

I run his face through the windshield, from left to right, ensuring that every possible shard is lodged in his disgusting face.

I whistle a merry tune as he cries for mercy.

Once the windshield is completely knocked out, I pull the panting criminal out and put him on his knees on the ground next to the cab.

"I sure hope you don't have brain trauma. Y'know... we oughta check!" I ram his head into the side of the cab. He cries and bleeds more, but I didn't hear a crack.

I hit his head with the cab again.

And again.

I go a few more, devastating times until I hear a loud crack.

"Bingo." I say, punching him hard in the forehead. His remaining skin is indented, flat, and lifeless upon his forehead and his eyes slowly roll into the back of his head. Blood starts to seep from most every hole on his head and I drop his lifeless corpse to the ground.

"Y'know... in the medical profession I think this is when a patient 'dies on the table'." I say, chuckling.

I hear the screeching of tires and glance over my shoulder. A few police cruisers have arrived. The officers have their doors open and are aiming at me with their firearms.

One fires a bullet at me and it hits me in the shoulder.

The bullet falls to the ground, leaving me unscathed.

"Man. This is the thanks I get for doin' my civic duty?"



What can you bring to this game? Plenty of blood. And the occasional game of Yahtzee!

Ok, after reading SSF's latest SS post, I really want each season to be stand-alone. I want to see some definite closure on the Spider-Man story...whether it's a happy ending or otherwise.

Besides, we can all come up with, like, 5 different What If?'s for any given character. It should be a crime to not use them all.

For instance, say someone wants to re-write Sue's What If?

Not necessarily. If a What-if was discontinued with a character, all the player would have to do would be to write a detailed explanation in an incharacter post of why the what if no longer applied.

For some, like Spider-Man and Ben Reilly, it's as simple as losing a symbiote.

For Iron Man, he could build in a failsafe to his Iron Man suits and then utilize it at the right time.

The what-if wouldn't apply, but the repercussions of the what if would.

That may be true...but it changes how you write the character towards the end of the season.

If it IS an ongoing thing, then you can plan for cliffhangers and you can do an arc to set you up for Season II.

But if it's not, you need to know so you can prepare to write an ending that brings closure to the character,

So I think the vote has to occur towards the end, but with a reasonable amount of time so that if we go with the latter option, people have time to end whatever arc they are in and write the conclusion for their character.

IF people want this RPG to actually continue, there are several options open,

-We get a load of regular posters and carry on....

-We restart from scratch, writing off what we have so far, but maintaining the concept of the what if structure etc.

-We leave it for a while, like a suspension, and hope people come around to the idea in coming months etc.


Other than that, death is the only option my compadre's....

The other symbiote theory isn't possible. They were taken from Venom, who, in this continuity, has yet to be established. As such, those symbiotes aren't even alive yet.

With so many new RPG's etc, me and noon finsihed up the season thread, it's still there for your enjoyment, with some great stuff and idea's, perhaps in a year or so, we can give it another whirl, but I got the thread closed now.
