sweet lab dude! what kind of set up do you have? I've been wanting to upgrade my ****box DELL, and I need some tips on a good corel pad, or what-have you . . . I'm thinking about building a PC . . .
thanx mate. if you can, i'd recommend building your own PC. if you have the technological know-how and are able to maintain a computer then there's really no need to buy a computer whole. with a computer from Dell, HP, Sony, etc. you get a bunch of unecessary stuff that you'll probably never use and if you know how to take care and repair your computer then there's no need for warranties and all that crap.

i have a custom built PC. i forget the specs but i know it's enough for me to be able to do extensive photoshopping with hardly any slow-down. i haven't tried playing any games or doing extensive 3d yet, but i'm sure it can handle most games. for my monitor, i have a 22 inch widescreen Acer which hasn't given me any problems. my only complaint is that it's a tad too dark so watching dark movies is a problem but it's not that big of a deal. for my wacom, i got a 6x8 intuos 3 which i love to death. the feel and features are awesome. i hardly ever use my mouse anymore, even for surfing the net. the fact that i don't feel like i have carpel tunnel anymore is worth the $300 price tag. as for my speakers...i've got the Bose Companion 3, series 2 speakers. definitely the best speakers i've ever had...

It's soooo wicked!! it doesn't look anything like a conventional computer . . . custom box and everything :up: :up: so that's def the route I'm gonna go . . . he just got some siiiiiick production studio equipment too *drools* forgot the brand though

oic...well the only kind of drawing tablet i would recommend are Wacoms. i go by the old motto "you get what you pay for". i remember getting a 6x8 tablet for less than $200 back in 2002 and it crapped out on me the first day because it wasn't a quality tablet. then i got an already 3 y/o old Wacom that lasted me 3 years up until i let my friend borrow it (he ended up breaking it). if you're serious about putting money down on it then i would recommend it. like i said, it's worth not having that nasty cramp in your hand from using a mouse all the time. as for specifics...if you're getting it for graphics design and point & click then get a graphire since they're cheaper, but if you really want to delve into drawing, illustration, digital painting, etc. then an intuos is the way to go.

you must be talking about the Cintiq. i used to use one here at my job but the cord started messing up which made the screen turn green. that's not a manufacture problem...the person who had it before me really jacked it up and it was a matter of time before it started REALLY messing up.

i will say that it has it's advantages and disadvantages though. if you can't quite get used to drawing on a tablet (hand/eye coordination issues) then a Cintiq definitely comes in handy.............if you can afford it, lol! and you're right...it poses problems when trying to watch a movie becuase they don't stand up straight like regular monitors do.
