Sure, but to talk down to the SEC's Athletics because you were losing an argument is a pretty immature thing to do - which given your history should of been expected.
I am sorry to have higher expectations.
What argument? I'm saying it's rediculous to pay a coach that much. Especially a coach with a record of taking off after a few years. His wife didn't like Miami, I'm sure in a few years she won't like Alabama and he'll run to the next highest paying school or NFL team.

I agree.
However, I think Saban stays at Bama for a good while.

But whats the reason of him taking off? He got paid more somewhere else. Alabama is not going to be out bid. And if Alabama wins, it will be well worth the salary he is being paid.

Well, you're right that Alabama is bidding probably more than anyone could. I guess they're trying to re-capture the Bear Bryant days. But an NFL team could come up with the money. Hell, if Carroll or Weiss goes to the NFL, maybe one of those teams could get him. You never know, maybe his wife actually won't like Alabama. :cwink:

I've actually talked to the man himself. Before I blew out my knee in 10th grade, I was a regular at the Georgia Football Camp's in the Summer.
When I was a wee youngster, Mike Bobo was one of the main coaches that would help out (before he left for Jacksonville St.) and so I got to spend a good amount of time around him. It was Jim Donnan's regime then, and he always seemed to be very disinterested in the football camp.
When Richt came in, he was very involved. He would talk and chat to the campers when he was around. And even watched some of our practices. One time I was walking back from something and Coach Richt was going to the same way and we started to talk. He remembered that I mentioned I was from Panama City and he talked about how he use to go there for vacation when he was with FSU and what not. It was a very big moment.
It was during that same camp that I got to meet David Pollack, he was a leader for a Camp FCA meeting. What a fantastic guy he is.

I can honestly say he is even more awesome off the field, than he was on.
Another Pollack Story: Before the Vanderbilt Game in...2002 I believe my brother and I went to Butts-Mehre because we were suppose to be able to meet a few of the players before the game (because of our attendance at Football Camp).
Well the Coach was able to grab only three or four of the players (Boss Bailey, David Greene and Jon Stinchcomb) and they came over and we got to shake their hands and all that and then David Pollack walked over - with out anybody telling him what was going on. He just had this big smile on his face and was a great guy. He noticed I was wearing a Jon Stinchcomb jersey and he made a big deal about it (not many people have OL jerseys).
I just hope he is able to come back at full strength after his neck injury :(

ATHENS --The Voice of the Bulldogs is hurting.
Eighty-four-year-old Larry Munson wants to return this fall to work his 41st consecutive season of Georgia football, but he's not sure his body will allow it.
"I don't know," Munson said in a telephone interview from his home Monday. "I'm almost 50-50. I don't know what I'm going to do. I absolutely have plans to do it, but things are just getting worse and worse."
Munson, a prostate cancer survivor who also suffers from arthritis and back problems, is one of the SEC's legendary skeptics, so it's tough to know what year might finally be his last, and two of his closest colleagues doubt he has called his final game for the Bulldogs.
Loran Smith, the executive director of the Georgia Bulldog Club and Munson's sideline reporter, and Neil Williamson, the director of sports marketing for WSB Radio, which employees Munson, both expect him to return.
"Like the good trouper he is, I think he'll be ready when kickoff comes," Smith said. "I don't think he could imagine himself being anywhere but behind the microphone. I think he knows a lot of people are counting on him, and I don't think he'd want to disappoint the Georgia people in any way, shape or form."
Williamson and Munson have talked within the past three days, and the subject of retirement never came up, Williamson said.
"All he was talking about was our travel schedule in 2008," Williamson said.
Munson, however, says he's not so sure. His pace has slowed noticeably in the press box in recent years and is nearing a total stop now, he said.
"I can't run, and I can't walk," he said. "I can't use my hands; I can't close my hands. It's just so stupid."
The new permanent 12-game regular season and increased number of night kickoffs make the season tougher on Munson, Smith said.
"After all these years, I suspect that Larry's aches and pains are more intense now, and that probably causes him to fret a little bit more," Smith said. "I suspect the reason he might be down, if he's down, is he is thinking about that bus ride after that Alabama (road) game and that plane ride home after the Tennessee game."
Georgia starts the 2007 season on Sept. 1 against Oklahoma State at Sanford Stadium, but Munson said he hasn't set a timetable for making a final decision about being in the booth this season.
"I really can't answer that," he said. "Give me a couple weeks and give me another crack at it."
The man who gave life to "Run Lindsay, Run" and "hobnailed boot" began his career as a Georgia radio commentator in 1966. He is a member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame and was honored in 1993 by the Georgia General Assembly for "his great role in the Georgia championship football program."
Georgia's second-floor trophy room in the Butts-Mehre Building is named after Munson.
Born in Minnesota on Sept. 28, 1922, Munson called games at Wyoming and Vanderbilt before coming to Georgia. He is an avid fisherman and moviegoer.
Whenever Munson steps aside, the contract between Georgia and WSB gives the university the right to pick Munson's selection although it is believed the two groups will work together to find a mutually acceptable choice.
"Larry can announce as long as he wants," Williamson said, "and Larry can quit whenever he wants."

I don't beleive there is such a thing as a bigger and better rivalry. I know some rivalry games are much more important(like both schools could be in the top ten) but I believe that every rivalry game is great. I mean it all comes down to the fans and how they want to win so bad. I've been to a Georgia/GTech game which was prennty intense, The Aurburn/Bama game has always been a good one, and my personal favorite... Clemson vs Usuck. I just wish the media would stop trying to deicide which rivalry is better...

Big 12 poll favors Mizzou in the North
By Steven M. Sipple/Lee Enterprises
LINCOLN - If Nebraska football coach Bill Callahan is looking for ways to motivate his players, he can point to a Big 12 preseason poll of media who cover the conference.
The Huskers were picked to finish second in the North Division behind Missouri. It marks the first time since the league began play in 1996 that the Tigers have been picked to win the North.
Missouri received 16 first-place votes and 136 points, compared with Nebraska's eight and 128.
Texas (16 first-place votes) was picked to capture the South Division ahead of Oklahoma (7) and Texas A&M (1).
Led by seventh-year coach Gary Pinkel, Missouri returns 15 starters from last year's team that finished with an 8-5 record, including 4-4 in the North. Among the returning starters is junior quarterback Chase Daniel, who last season established school records for touchdown passes (28), passing yards (3,527) and total offense (3,906).
Missouri's last conference championship in football occurred when the Tigers shared the 1969 Big Eight title with Nebraska. Mizzou has tied for second in the Big 12 North three times.
Daniel was thrilled to have the Tigers picked atop the 2007 media poll.
“We're honored to be picked to win it, and we'll definitely help use that as motivation,” he said. “We've worked really hard over the last few years to earn some respect, and now that it's coming, we need to work even harder to keep it.”
Nebraska, meanwhile, returns 13 starters from a 2006 team that finished 9-5 overall and won the Big 12 North with a 6-2 record.
The Huskers and Tigers square off Oct. 6 in Columbia, Mo., where Mizzou has won two straight games against NU.
In this year's media poll, Missouri and Nebraska were picked ahead of Kansas State, Kansas, Colorado and Iowa State.
In the South, Oklahoma State was picked to finish fourth ahead of Texas Tech and Baylor. Favored Texas returns 13 starters from a 2006 squad that finished with a 10-3 record and second (6-2) in the South. The Longhorns have won at least 10 games in each of the last six seasons.
The Big 12 Championship Game is set for Dec. 1 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

Yes, I got that. I'm so used to the east coast bias that I'm numb to it. You're so right, the way div II. UCLA and Oregon State beat a team that embarassed a Big Ten school in a BCS game. :whatever:

East Coast bias is BS. There is no East Coast bias - there is simply economics. ESPN focuses on popular sports teams..because they are popular. Coincidently most of the most popular sports teams just happen to be on the East Coast. There geography is irrelevant. If there was an East Coast bias, USC wouldn't get the unprofessional man-love ESPN gives them.

Really, I wasn't aware that teams like Rutgers were so popular until ESPN jumped on their bandwagon.
I agree with you to an extent. USC does seem to be an irregular which is apparent to anyone who saw the ESPN "experts" name '05-'06 'SC the best ever before their game against Texas. Or the way ESPN catapulted USC over Florida in the polls.
I'd argue that schools such as Texas are more popular than the Virginia schools but they don't get sweet ESPN coverage.
And I won't bring up basketball, that brings up a whole new can of worms about DSPN...

Rutgers got as much publicity as Boise State. Because it was a good story, not because it was on the East Coast.
The only people that cry East Coast Bias are from people on the West Coast that complain whenever people point out that the Big 10 and the SEC and the ACC are the strongest conferences, or similar such matters. There are more quality teams on the East Coast then there are on the West Coast. That is not a bias, thats a fact.

Boise State has been good for years. If it weren't for that extra BCS bowl Boise State would be getting no love. The East gave them pub because they were forced to when Boise State made the Fiesta bowl.
That's in regard to television. The polls are a different story. They also have their favorites. Look how long Notre Dame always seems to hang around.
How about a few years ago when Nebraska got owned by Miami in the Rose Bowl? Oregon could have been there. Instead Nebraska who previously let a Colorado team hang 62 on them got the title bid.
I'll concede, in college football, it's less of an east coast bias but more of a favorites game. I've already mentioned Notre Dame, the Scarlet Nights getting a little too much pre season love, the florida schools, ect...
In basketball though, you can't play the weak conference card. The PAC-10 was the toughest all around conference but I still had to hear about Patrick Ewing Jr, the Dookies, and how Greg Oden looks 50 years old.

Please. Boise State was mentioned nationally before last year. Boise State was picked by many national writers to upset Georgia a few years ago. That is not a East Coast bias.
Notre Dame is popular by the people - it has a tremendous fan base. Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean is irrelevant.
Nebraska played a tougher schedule than Oregon.
Rutgers is getting Pre Season love not based on East Coast bias, but because of their Coach and the fact that their schedule is favorable.
NCAA Basketball means little to me, so I am not going to attempt to get into that squabble.

QBs lead deep cast of Heisman hopefuls
1. QB John David Booty, Sr., USC
No contender left a more lasting impression for voters to process in the off-season than Booty, who torched the Michigan D for 390 yards and four touchdowns in the Rose Bowl. The fact that he's the starting quarterback for USC, everyone's likely preseason No.1 team, is enough for him to be the early front-runner.
2. QB Colt Brennan, Sr., Hawaii
Not too many people outside the WAC knew Brennan at this time last year. After breaking or tying 19 NCAA records, including single-season touchdown passes (58), he's suddenly a household name and the year's must-see attraction.
3. RB Darren McFadden, Jr., Arkansas
Last year's runner-up to Troy Smith has the potential to be even better in 2007 now that offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn is gone, putting to bed the debate over the direction of the offense. McFadden is the nation's premier running back and new coordinator David Lee is going to treat him as such, meaning more McFadden and more big games.
4. RB Steve Slaton, Jr., West Virginia
Poll
For two consecutive years, Slaton has been pure dynamite. No one in the country goes from zero to six points faster, which makes for attention-grabbing numbers and a ton of free Heisman advertisements on the highlight shows. He just has to stay healthy.
5. RB Michael Hart, Sr., Michigan
While not the most glamorous of the Wolverines' offensive stars, he's the most valuable, something the savvy voter recognizes. With an entire season at full strength, he ran for a career-best 1,562 yards and 14 touchdowns and should be the catalyst of, arguably, the nation's most effective offense.
6. QB Brian Brohm, Sr., Louisville
He's one of the two or three best pure passers in America, plays on a ranked team with an improving national identity and welcomes back his three top receivers from a year ago
7. QB Pat White, Jr., West Virginia
He's got all the speed and game-breaking ability of teammate Steve Slaton to go along with an improving passing game that's going to paralyze defenses on play-action.
8. QB Colt McCoy, Soph., Texas
If Texas is in the national title hunt, he'll be one of the main reasons. With the foundation set and a great team around him, the sky's the limit.

9. RB Ray Rice, Jr., Rutgers
He ran for 20 touchdowns, 1,794 yards and nearly a spot in New York City as a Heisman finalist, finishing seventh in last year's vote. Now the team around him should be even better.
10. RB P.J. Hill, Soph., Wisconsin
Tapping into his inner-Dayne, he lumbered for 15 touchdowns and 1,569 yards in 2006, tops among the nation's freshmen. Wisconsin is good enough to take the Big Ten keeping its star in the spotlight all season long.
11. QB Chad Henne, Sr., Michigan
As a talented fourth-year starter with the Big Ten favorite, Henne is in a real nice position to become the first Wolverine quarterback to win the Heisman Trophy.

I about teared up when I saw that this morning. The OB was definitely showing its age, but that was home. People figured this was coming for a while, but I had hoped the city and the university would find some way to make it work and incorporate a huge facelift (even if it wasn't all that financially feasible from the start). So many memorable games there that I had a chance to see; Florida State, Notre Dame, Nebraska, Florida. I've had the pleasure to check out some college football at other notable stadiums, The Big House, Doak Campbell, The Swamp, The Rose Bowl and a few others, but nothing ever matched the intensity of a big game atmosphere and frenzy of when The U took on another power at the Horseshoe in Little Havana.
Moving to Dolphin Stadium is going to feel empty. It's further away from campus, further away from the heart of the city and it already has two inhabitants. It's better when college teams have their own personal stomping grounds. A development for a stadium closer to campus would have been nice, but I really don't see Coral Gables going for that. Hopefully, the Canes will give the old girl one final great season, reminiscent of the glory days when showing up to the Orange Bowl as an opponent practically guaranteed you were going home with an L.

Nope. The only remote hope for Miss State is that it's a "rebuilding year" for LSU. Although, rebuilding years really don't exist in this conference.

Sadly you need a QB to win in the SEC. Not a running back playing the position :cwink:
Plus I think Georgia will probably lose to Florida, yet still win the SEC East. :wow:
Your personal opinion of Tebow remains to be seen as he's yet to really play a game. He could end up being a white Vick (though Vick did excel at the college level), or he could be more along the lines of a Vince Young.
The games in which he did play for an extended period he's showed good passing ability and touch on his throws. It's not his fault he had an excellent Senior passer in front of him coupled with having his number called primarily on QB runs since Leak was not an option QB.
As for the East, I think it'll be a three way battle between UF, UGA, and UT with UT winning out. In any case whoever wins the East will have at the very least one loss.

Most of my hate on Tebow comes from my hate of ESPN's love of Tebow. That is why I despise USC - not because I am jealous, or upset with anything they did, but the fact that ESPN continues to slob on their knob, similar to the treatment they give Tebow.

I can see where you're coming from with the USC as ESPN does ride their jock something fierce, but I haven't really seen too much on Tebow. At least not since they did that special on him when he first came out.
Granted, when they talk about the Gators he's always one of the main stories, but that's to be expected. The second year QB with loads of potential but no experience leading what should be a high scoring offense for the defending National Champions should be discussed when they mention the team.

I'm so ecstatic, I can hardly contain myself. College Football all day long!! :woot:
On top of that, both of my teams should have big years.
Missouri opens up against Illinois, should be an easy game. All though the Illini have made strides since last years 2 win season. The big question mark for Mizzou is their young 'D'; it's talanted, but unproven.
Wisconsin starts off at home against Washington State, a good PAC10 team. However, Wisconsin should come away with a comfortable win. I would expect the game to be close through the first half and then the Badger running attack wears out the Cougar 'D' and they start to seperate.
Bring on the Football.
