View Full Version : Should Lana Lang have been kept for Superman 4??

Since Lana was hired at the Daily Planet at the end of Superman 3 she should have been Lois' rival instead of Lacey Warfield. It would have been great for all the comic book fans to see the two women together, each attracted to one of Kal El's dual identities. And how great it would have been if both women had been in danger at the same time. Who would Superman rescue first?? Lois was never really in danger in part 4, excluding that subway incident at the beginning. If only Lex Luther could have resurrected Zod and company instead of creating Nuclear Man. But part 4 definitely should have had Jimmy, Lois and Lana in life threatening situations.

I've though that myself.....intriguing how the end of Supes III brings Lana to work at the Planet as a clear rival to Lois, and then Supes IV does the same with Lacey. And Lana and Lacey are both intrested in Clark rather than Superman.
A love-triangle might work, but it would have to be very tight in order to stop the audience thinking Superman is a two-timer.
On the subject of Superman IV, I recently saw the deleted footage. Everyone was clamouring, "Put it back in," but now it's been shown on DVD, I say, "Take more out!" A Supes IV comprised of only the decent or good bits could maybe stretch to 15 minutes.

I've always wondered that.

Yeah, part 4 could have been so much better had someone like Donner been at the helm.
