Hi,

If I remember correctly, in the comics, the Joker does not have a real name. His true identity is a mystery. It was Tim Burton, with Batman 1989, that came up with the identity of Jack Napier, and one episode of Batman: The Animated Series also named the Joker as "Jack Napier".

Do you think Nolan is going to continue this thread? Since Nolan wants a realistic Batman, it would make sense to give the Joker a real name. The guy wasn't born as "the joker" or named "the joker" by his mother. haha.

If Nolan does continue this, it's strange how the movie versions of Batman continues to insist on calling the Joker Jack Napier when I don't believe the comics have ever done this.

1.watch B89 and BB again. watch it 3 times if it helps.
2. think about both movies for at least 2 hours.

in one of the spoiler threads its been mentioned that Joker will already be The Joker, there wouldnt be a true origin tale for him, but more of a tale between how he and Batman became the worst of enemies as they are now in current lore.

Greg

The reason TAS called the Joker Jack Napier was because when it first started up WB wanted it to have as many connections to the movies as possible, that's why catwoman was blonde and Penguin was drawn with the mutated hands. Though, now they've shown Joker's name to be Jack in the comics.....still though I'd say the chance of Nolan using that name for the Joker is probably lower then 10%

You can't give him a "problem to solve" and then immediately give him the "answer" before he's had a chance. I realize you were just trying to be a dick but come on, have it make sense.

Anyway, there's also no connection between B89 and TAS and they apparently did it there. The question is: If Nolan feels obligated to give Joker a name will he opt for one that's been commonly used?

What was the name of the real life killer Zodiac? Of course he had one but no one know what it is.

See, Joker not having a real name in the movie can be realistic.

Wait, he had a first name in Killing Joke right?
It was Joe Kerr, but later in the story The Joker admitted that that was not a fully accurate backstory, because he likes to have "multiple choice" or something like that.

That would be a great line to have in TDK. I'll try to see if I can find it..

EDIT: I found it.

"I mean, what is it with you? What made you what you are? Girlfriend killed by the mob, maybe? Brother carved up by some mugger? Something like that, I bet. Something like that...

Something like that happened to me, you know. I... I'm not exactly sure what it was. Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another. If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice! HA HA HA!

But my point is... my point is, I went crazy. When I saw what a black, awful joke the world was, I went crazy as a coot! I admit it!

Why can't you?"

I could of easily trimmed that down to only the 2nd paragraph, but I couldn't resist. ;)

Yeah I think he realises that Einstein. His question was that because the only time Joker has had a name beside Red Hood or Joker it was Jack Napier in B89 & in a episode of BTAS so it was a fair question to ask that if TDK uses a real name for Joker would it be Jack Napier seems that is the name that has now been established as Jokers real name even though it didnt happen in the comics. I understood it, sad you didnt!:whatever:

I'd say it's become quite canon that his first name is indeed, Jack. The last name I'm not sure about. In '89, it's Jack Napier, in TAS It's Jack, and in the Hush series when they show Joker's backstory he is refereed to as Jack a few times as well, but they never say a last name.

Anyway, he won't have a backstory in this film.

Jack Napier????? as cool as Burton maybe as a film icon, he has NO RIGHT to alter a very important character such as The Joker & inject it with his own shallow interpretation of what his & batman's origins

I have an idea:

What if, inspired by the "I believe in Harvey Dent" campaign, WB releases the first official Joker pic in the same vein, but instead of a poster campaign, it's a mug shot? I know AICN's fake pic of The Joker had a similiar theme, but what about something like that? I'm thinking visually akin to the Sirius Black poster in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban. Perhaps with some Joker-esque graffiti or something.

Anyway, just an idea.

I agree. But if Warner Bros ARE starting an underground marketing campaign this early, then "The Dark Knight" could end up being looked back on as one of the best-hyped films ever, depending on where the marketing goes from here.

I think what's happening is, every time someone enters in a set of coordinates, another pixel from the picture is either removed or defaced, possibly meaning there's either another picture behind the defaced Dent poster that we're meant to reveal, or one that's being created with each new pixel.

Here's what it looked like when I did it, with the strange pixels circled. The pixel with the little grey box around it is the one that appeared when I entered my coordinates:

I think this is what we are gonna get, because why would we get a loading bar for only one picture, if its only one it would be like the Dent page I guess!...just my 2 cents

I think I'm gonna change my vote here. I'm leaning more towards real now. We just got the Harvey Dent page a few days ago. Now I'm no web design expert, but I just don't see how some nerd fan could come up with the idea, buy the domain name, design an entire flash site, distribute the playing cards(which, according to the report, looked like the words had been rubber stamped on, not actually written. hmm..), etc. all in the past few days since the Harvey Dent page showed up online.

So yeah, I'm thinking it's real.

Still not putting my email adress in there yet though.

"You can contact viruses from just looking at web pages." - Another rumor that is spreading around. You cannot contract a virus just by looking at a web page however can contact a virus if you were to download a file from that web page.

"You can contact a virus by reading your e-mail." - Not fully true, by just opening an e-mail message to read its contents you can not contract a virus, unless that e-mail message contains an attachment and you were to save that attachment to your hard drive or another storage media.

this movie is like "The Killing Joke" but instead of Gordon being Kidnapped and the Joker trying to drive him insane he is doing this to Dent.

The facts seem to point to it:
"I Believe in Harvey Dent too." Could The Joker believe that Harvey is going insane after one bad day?

Heath Ledger said the Joker was going to have a clockwork Orange feel to him, in the movie "A Clockwork Orange" the protagonist Alex rapes, pillages, and plunders. Could Joker being this stuff to Harvey Dent or his wife?

did you reply to it?
Yeah... but I got the same ol' "Jessica first kiss" thing like everyone else did.

"People always ask me about my charming boyish smile. Jessica used to
love it. She was the loneliest girl in high school, and my first big
kiss..."

Did anybody see the pixel that was highlighted on the page? (by an animted square).
That shows the pixel that you unlocked.

Yeah same here. I mean look at Dent's face, quite clearly done by The Joker himself. And it could be Joker exposing his tragic past.

Or maybe it just has to do with Dent wanting to bring him in.

The Last Meatbag
05-19-2007, 01:06 PM
It probably just has to do with the fact that the Joker wants ****ing anarchy in the streets, and what better way than to cripple an exposed Justice system?

DOO BEE
05-19-2007, 01:07 PM
jokers history in the killing joke was tragic if you ask me.....

and nolan did say they are pulling from that!

but gotham is corrupt as we all know, and by the way it was in BEGINS, falcone describes who was in his bar, now he doesnt mention dent or anything he actually states people who are in his line of work, now what if the new crime boss has dent under his finger on black mail, and joker is aware of this secret....

like ra's on to scarecrow on to falcone

new mob boss onto joker... on to dent

in that sense....

so new boss send joker out on a job to out dents past stopping him from becoming DA... so thats maybe the baddie plot for TDK

and to that dent wants joker off the streets for the purpose of peoples votes (as he tells bruce and all the important people) but he really wants joker off the street as he is the only one with power to out dents past hmmmm

my guess..... better then nothing you know

what do you think?

Maybe Dent is using The Joker's crime spree as a platform to get himself elected DA in the movie...........

I don't know why, but i'm starting to think the whole Dent campaign posters fake. I zoomed in and it's a really badly edited picture of Eckhart. The way it's super imposed on the background it really amateurly done, it's choppy and the edges are not smooth.

I think we'll have a pretty good idea of what it is by sometime tomorrow, but yea, that's still a hell of a lot of pixels to unlock before the picture even starts to become clear.

I'm sure somebody could do the math and figure out exactly how many pixels the picture is made up of.

I said that about a week ago..

We're thinking along the same lines.

Picture this: The Joker is holding Gotham "hostage" by robbing banks, jewlery stores, art galleries, ect ect, and Dent (a narcisistic lawyer who olny cares about his position in society) promises that if he is elected he will bring in The Joker. The city hears this, elects him, and Dent gets his man (with Bats help, of course). During the trial, a pissed off Joker douses the left side of his body with acid........

the joker i think in some way if he is helping dent it will be cool ot see joker waiting in the shadows of dents office... as he confronts him about a recent media interview and talking about joker as if he is the cities sewer rat king, joker gets angry and confronts dent... and is continuously talking of how batman did the scaring to his face and dent shows no care at all... and therfore joker has extreme hatred for dent and scars his face later onin the movie some how but we have joker screaming "who cares now dent!" after he does it... hmmm?

i dunno thought it was cool in my head
