When The Joker (Heath Ledger (http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/08/08/the-dark-knight-new-spoilers-revealed/#)) kidnaps Rachael Dawes (Maggie Gyllenhaal) from a big party, Dawes is forced to reveal Batman’s true identity, Bruce Wayne (http://www.slashfilm.com/2007/08/08/the-dark-knight-new-spoilers-revealed/#). Later, however, The Joker becomes convinced that Dawes lied to him when he encounters both Bruce Wayne and Batman in the same room together simultaneously. I have no idea how Bruce pulls this off. I would assume that if a Batman impostor exists, Joker would likely be in on that joke. This causes Joker to think that Bruce Wayne is NOT Batman and that Rachel, in fact, lied to him… His accusation of her deception doesn’t end well.
I stood up and did a little jig when I read that :D

yeah I found his old posts, here's the relevant onesI do not feel right in just outright saying it; ok-the movie will have a happy ending of sorts, but ok- you know how in all the Spider-man movies the girl is always dramatically saved at the end? That does not happen here.Joker has Rachel for something OTHER than just getting revenge on Batman. The real, full on twist of the film, is that the Joker knows Bruce Wayne is Batman, and we learn he found it out through Rachel(before she....ya know) She told him because Dent, Batman, and Grdon were trying to set some sort of trap, buit it didn't work out. She thought she'd live, as do Bruce and Harvey, but of course she doesn't.No, he does not choose to, it is something he has to live with at the end of the film as does Harvey Dent, though of course Harvey doesn't know Bruce is Batman, but Batman chooses ot save the people of Gotham becuase he thinks Rachel's alive
Well, unless what I had the oppritunity to read was an elaborate fake...I don't see how it's possible. Having her....ya know....would defiently seem like a cop out. The ending is very Spider-manish becuase Dent wants revenge on the Joker and has the chance to kill him at the end of the big finale, but Batman stops him. Dent is now turned against Batman and it seems like Dent is may be going crazy. Then in the 34rd when Joker does the deed, it would be all the more damaging to Batkman because again, had Batmanlet Harvey kill him, Harvey would be ok as would all the victims of Two-face.
Well that is how I interpreted it.
The batpod is going to awesome! It does not immerge from the Tumbler; Lucious Fox has it. It scene will be awesome. It has a large freeway chase sequence with it and all the mentioned weapons are used.
You do not find out what happens with the Scarecrow.
Joker reveal of his knowledge is written superbly. He goess to a rant(upon Batmans discovery of Rachel), and it ends with a pause and the audience is supposed to GET IT and then he says "Bruce". I forget the exact dialogue but I remeber really digging it. Batmans visibly shook up and rages when the Joker kinda...well lets just say Batmans in agony. Then Harvey Dent(alone) shows up and....I already mentioned. This is a very trying scene and very climactic, both Batman and Dent have ways to...end the Jokers life...and niether of them do it.
Batman tricks the Joker into thinking both Bruce AND Batman are at the scene, thus he thinks Rachel lied to him.
As mentioned above there is already atleast 1 significent difference between what I read and what has been shot, so...but what I said is pretty damn big; I cant imagine it not in the script. Critics are going to eat this up.This will be it; I've said way too much already (though there is a lot you guys do not know).
The Batman wannabe does several things
1)turns the cops against Batman as they believe its him
2)makes Bruce question his morals after what happens to the wannabe(he doesnt die)
3)gets Gordon in trouble both physically and professionally
Ok, I shall see you guys July 2008!

No, the grey spandex works just fine.
People always say if a man really dressed like that in real life no one would be afraid of him. Fact is, even if someone dressed in rubber like that in real life no one would be afraid, everyone would say "who does this freak think he is, Batman". You see, in the world of Batman people ARE afraid of him, whether dressed in spandex or rubber. I hate when people bring up "Batman in spandex wouldn't be scary in real life", I'm sorry but Batman in general wouldn't be scary in real life. You say a man wearing spandex and a cowl doesn't strike fear into anyone when the truth is, in the fictional world, it does.
I know everything about fictional characters, especially superheroes , is based in a very unrealistic world. Including Batman. I don´t have any problem with that, If I had I wouldn´t be here. See, I ´m perfectly fine with a guy dressed in a red spidey spandex with organics webs coming out of his hands. He does not looks ridiculous. I did not come out of the theathers thinking he looks ridiculous. But Batman spandex suit does this to me. Can I explain why? No. Perhaps because I haven´t seen any decent picture of him in that situation that could make me think otherwise. So, I would watch the whole movie thinking that he looks like that, ridiculous. And that is not what a Batman movie should be trying to achieve. Instead I should be thinking that guy is a fearful creature. Not just because the director instructed the actors to scream and look terrified every time Batman shows up. I really don´t care if the fictional gotham city fears Batman in spandex. I could make a movie that a whole city fears hello kitty in a pink tutu, but it would still be so silly.Whereas in the cartoons and comics Batman looks bad ass, a guy dressed like the pic you posted some pages back does not. At least to me.
And I would not laugh at a guy stand in a dark corner who looks like a mixture of a swat soldier with a bat cowl. The thing is the grey spandex just looks really bad to me and no genius movie maker could make me believe that a guy dressed in that can be the bad ass I think Batman really is. As I said this just does not work for me in the real world. So, we do not share the same opinion about his suit. Not a big deal , really.
By the way, sorry If can´t express myself properly, but english is not my first language.:yay:

Why do people say spandex would look silly and can't possibly work on screen? How can you say grey spandex looks really bad and no film maker could make it look good when none have tried. What are you basing this off of? The picture I posted a few pages back was of an action figure.
Can you tell me what's so wrong with grey spandex if he's wearing kevlar padding under it like in the comics? The only time it's even been tried in a real movie is back in the 60s in a comedy show! You've never seen someone try to do it so why write it off so quickly. No modern filmmaker has ever tried to adapt the real Batman suit in a real film yet everyone just says it will suck. You aren't even willing to give it a chance. Do you have PROOF that it would look terrible? Besides Adam West?

Spandex as in the fabric worn by Christopher Reeve? Hell no I would not like that. Looks cheap and serves at best, as a Halloween costume.
But the material used in Spider-Man and Superman Returns, materials that replicate the look of the comics, then yes, that I'd approve.

No one would use Chris Reeve spandex anymore, that was back in the 70s. Hell, Returns didn't even use it.
I personally would love to see a real Bat-suit made from the same material as the Superman Returns suit. Not sure about Spidey. Actually, I believe Returns didn't use spandex, nor did Spidey, it's some other material, I dont know what it is. I just call it spandex.
I dont know what it is, I just call it spandex.

" As regards to how Heath Ledger *seemed* as the Joker, he seemed like he WAS the Joker, and didn't need to let anyone know it - rather contained, but ready to explode at any moment in an unexpected fashion. Menacing, but more because he seemed like he was probably crazy, and maybe violent, rather than that he was TRYING to scare you. (and by the way, all he did during the scenes I was in was sit in his holding cell, reacting and listening...so, he's a very fine actor if I imbibed all this from just watching him sit there...) He didn't talk a lot between takes, but he also wasn't "Don't approach me!" in his manner - a real pro, in other words. In short, he seemed just like the Joker SHOULD seem. "

For those who missed it, here's what Christian Bale had to say about The Joker in Total Film magazine:
But the main attraction is a villain whose "taste for theatrics" was so memorably portrayed by Jack Nicholson in Tim Burton's Batman. The Joker is back. And it's no laughing matter.
"It's a much more anarchic, punk rock, almost junkie version of it," says Bale, f Heath Ledger's disturbing take on Batman's deadliest foe. "He's the kind of psycho kid that just will do anything and has absolutely no conscience and morals - I think they've done a real nice job with his look. It's certainly a whole lot more dangerous; there's a bit of Clockwork Orange there, a bit of Sid Vicious, a whole lot of great, anarchic personalities blended within The Joker."

I firmly believe this
In fact reworking thee more fantastic characters in a serious way can actually do more justice to the core character imo. It can cut through all the gimmicky stuff to the motivations and actual story of the character, which is why they should exist in the first place. It's really not that hard to think of ways to do faithful versions of Freeze, Ivy, Croc and Clayface in a Nolan style treatment.

They'll probably just use his normal eye color, I don't want anything too queer like yellow or orange eyes.

man shadow you think of the weirdest things to speculate about
Haha I try... it's just something thats been on my mind too, because lately i've been reading all my old batman comics' and graphic novels'. Looking at some renditions of the joker most choose to give him that yellow eye, while other just give him white/black. One comic gave him green eyes, Since all speculation is leading to this Joker Possibly adding make up for theatrics, Then what would stop him from putting yellow contacts in his eyes :oldrazz: I mean it would enhance his appearance, in my opinion. Make him seem more fierce and intimidating

Well I wouldn't judge it off "Dead End" Since that film was low budget and the contacts used on the joker were distributed through a large chain. so the quality of the product isn't so great. (that's what I've heard from a make up artist working on the film). I'm sure the contacts were hand painted and actually had time put into it, it would look some what stunning

I personally like it better than Heath's. It's not black, it's purple, and it's more under his eyes than circles. It's actually kinda like if he was really bleached, I could believe those dark purple circles around his eyes could be natural. With Heater's eyes, it's obvious that he applies the black makeup for an effect, and it's very difficult to see his eyebrows. Although I hope it comes out better on screen because Joker always does subtle expressions using the brows.

Patient J is definitely one of the better ones out there(but hey most are really bad). But you can't watch Patient J and say he didn't nail the Joker in personality and tone. However I didn't really care for Batman at all in P-J.
Incredible how P-J had a budget of 7k and was over half an hour, while Dead End was 6 minutes of footage and cost over $30,000.

Concept was brilliant and it was pulled off decently. 90% of the fanfilm was straight from the comics. Those who don't like it, I can only assume it was either because they found Joker annoying sounding/looking or thought the execution wasn't there.

Campy, and sort of... off... but it was really well done, and pretty creepy. Love the scene where the Batman finally goes after the Joker. On stage... very cool. So I have a question, we know from the footage description that Joker gets arrested, and we also know from set footage that reporters ask pre-acid Harvey "Was it your Idea or the Batmans that led to the arrest of the Joker?"
which means Joker gets arrested fairly early on only to escape Arkham and cause more chaos, and according to the sources, scar Harvey. So I'm just wondering when does the joker get arrested?, were all assuming that the giant chase scene is the finale, but what if it happens in the middle?

Perhaps he escapes/breaks out again? Ofcourse i'm just guessing.

If it happens in the middle, I can only wonder what crazy antics will happen at the end.

Perhaps a breakout?
indeed, I'm thinking the guy with the bomb in his chest is his ticket out.
but still does that mean at the end of the movie the Joker is loose? or he gets arrested 2 times in the movie ?

I was just thinking..... It has been reported that Rachel Dawes tells Joker Batman is Bruce Wayne. Some people have insinuated he threatened/tortured it out of her.
Question: Why would the Joker think Rachel knows Batman's identity in the first place?
If it is ture, I'm guessing it has something to do with Scarecrow knowing Dawes is close to Batman. Scarecrow might tell Joker that Dawes knows who Batman is.

That was a pretty good short film...surprisingly good joker, captured him pretty perfectly, especially how frikin insane and twisted he was.

I'm thinking he's sent to Arkham in the beginning/middle, breaks out, and is still on the loose when the film ends.(ambiguous death)

Maybe they shave his hair off before his trial going into the third film, and it comes back in dark green....that would be pretty badass, and add to his mystery.

But...realistically speaking, his hair would grow back in his natural hair colour.

I'd have to say so myself...shaving Joker's head so it can come back in dark green? Doesn't make any sense, I'm sure the audience will be smart enough to know his hair is permanently green.

Not if they tease with the idea it wasn't a chemical accident that made it that color. As we'll likely get next to nothing about his background...

I think it's cool. He was pretty vocal before filming. But it's like, now that he's in filming, he isn't Heath Ledger, he's The Joker... :joker:

"Take this guy. Armed robbery, double homicide. Got a taste for the theatrical, like you... leaves a calling card."
Are there any indicators that the double homicide mentioned by Gordon will be relevant to the plot of TDK?

Any indicators would be in the line itself, and thus, no.

I doubt it will be specifically mentioned as it's probably one of his many crimes. However, it might be touched upon in the anime movie that takes place between BB and TDK.

Zero.
Just one of his many killings.
Bishop

it'll be irrelevant, as the joker has killed more people than he has taken dumps
SuperFerret

He would have known who the victims were if he already had the Joker card, which presumably was found at the crime scene, hence the "calling card".

Could the double-homicide have been the Claridge and Wilde murders? Maybe we'll see a flashback, who knows?

Many people had theorized that that scene would have opened the film before we had info. Based on what we know know it seems it wont have anything to do with the plot.
I think it would have been cool if the double homicide had of been important characters after there death.

I hope so.
It would be nice to see Batman start out on this case unaware of where it's going to lead him. He thinks Joker is just some lightweight crook.

Yeah, it could make for a very interesting plot for the anime movie. It could also show the beginnings of Batman becoming a great detective.
I wonder where Bats learns his detective skills.

Batman wipes off the Joker's make-up.

The joker was on a skateboard

I always think of the creeper when I think of a Scooby-Doo villan that and Don Knots?
But anyway this is probably the wrong thread to post this at but I always wondered about how some say the Joker's goons turn on him and are the ones to cut his mouth but it seems to me that if the Joker is going to be this crazy psycho-path that we all hope he will be in the movie you would think that they would kill him instead of just cutting him. But it is just my opinion because this does not seem like a guy you would want to tick off.

not all people want to kill.. They could have used it as a threat
I don't think Joker's men do that to him. I think the mob turns to him (briefly stated in teaser) and realize this guy is a wacko and needs to be taught a lesson and shove off.
Mr. Socko
08-12-2007, 09:30 PM
I doubt Joker's goons will turn on him, he probably has them throughout the entire thing. If anyone turns on him and causes the scarring, I believe it's going to be the Mob. Maroni or his akin.
CaptainClown
08-12-2007, 09:33 PM
well he could mistreat him like in clockwork orange or the Mob is paying them off. there are countless possibilities. Oh well I haven't read the script
