It's called some scrub that turns on a switch in the post season and gets hot and wins it all.... (see Pittsburg or the Colts of last year...) but I really don't see that happening this year... those three teams will probably finish 1 2 3 in the AFC take your picks barring injury... I know they play each other and they may cancel each other out but I really doubt Denver will win the division and sneak into that 3 seed... and the North will beat up on each other up as well (division winner probably 11 wins max)... so if you are confident a four seed or lower can win TWO road games in the POST SEASON against two of those three teams you are out of your mind... and we all know what the NFC is all about... the NONentity football conference... and we saw that clearly displayed in week 1.

We didn't know what side of Randy Moss was going to show up in New England(Minnesota or Oakland). Clearly the one from Minnesota showed up and they looked good.

San Diego now has Norv Turner as the head coach. I still think they will have a 12 win season, but we damn well know things could go wrong.

Indianapolis I can't really argue. This team looked scary good. And if that defense can play like they did against one of the top offenses in the league, Colts fans better start planing a trip to Arizona.

Baltimore's only problem is injuries. They're old from offense to defense. I think they will hold up through the season and make a run into the playoffs.

I made my prediction before I seen these teams play, and if you ask me now who is going to the Super Bowl I will honestly say NE or IND.

JaMarcus Russell agrees in principle the next day.

Ever since the new TV deal, which allows team to increase their cap, the Top Pick has been guarantee a minimum of $30million. He is a freakin QB, he deserve it, I would have held out too. Al f***ing Davis id ruining the team. You cannot pay every other top pick $30+ million dollars who is not a QB, which is the most important position on the field, and not guarantee Russell, who is a QB. Al Davis is full of ...... well you know.

No, keep up man. Last year was the first season of MNF on ESPN:cmad: . In Overblown ESPN fashion they started the NFL Kickoff weekend w/ 2 MNF games. Last year Oakland kicked off, and I don't remember the second game. This is strictly a Kickoff weekend deal.

You still have 'games on Sunday', just now you'll likely get 3 network broadcast games on over the air T.V. -a double header on CBS or FOX, or one of each and the Al and John game on NBC.

Several years ago half way through the middle of the season the NFL tried to have Thurs. night games, one game. But it went away, until last season when the NFL Network kicked off it's weekly Thurs. games, w/ Collinsworth:whatever: :cmad: and Gumble:whatever: :cmad: .

And on THanksgiving you know have 3:woot: games. Last season was the sencond year of that, and they'll do it again this year.

NFL security confiscated a video camera and its tape from a New England Patriots employee on the team's sideline during Sunday's game against the Jets in a suspected spying incident, sources said.

"It's not their first time," a member of the committee, who did not wish to be identified, said.

In fact, Green Bay Packers president Bob Harlan confirmed a similar incident that occurred when the Patriots played at Lambeau Field last Nov. 19. The same cameraman who was questioned by NFL security on Sunday was also the one whom the Packers removed from the sideline and escorted from the field during their 2006 game, according to Packers security official Doug Collins.

Patriots caught allegedly taping Jets' coaches

BY RICH CIMINI
DAILY NEWS SPORTS WRITER

The border has never ceased to provide intrigue.
The latest chapter in the Jets-Patriots rivalry unfolded Sunday at the Meadowlands, where a Patriots employee was nabbed in an alleged spying incident. Sources said the NFL is investigating whether the employee illegally videotaped the Jets' coaches on the sideline, presumably in an attempt to steal hand signals that were relayed to the defense.
League security confiscated a video camera and tape, ESPN reported. The findings will be evaluated by the competition committee. The story was first reported by Jets Confidential on its Web site.
Eric Mangini declined to comment on the matter, except to say, "With anything along those lines, those are all league-related matters."
The Patriots declined comment.
According to the NFL rule, no video recording devices are permitted in the coaches' booth, on the field or in the locker room during a game. In this case, the cameraman was on the field.
"Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited," league spokesman Greg Aiello said.
The Patriots were accused of the same practice last Nov. 16 at Lambeau Field. It was the same cameraman in both incidents, Packers president Bob Harlan told ESPN.
In the Jets' case, the cameraman was spotted by Jets security chief Steve Yarnell, who notified league security. The Patriots could be punished by the league if found guilty of cheating. The penalty could be a fine or a draft pick.
Several Jets noted after the 38-14 loss that the Patriots did a terrific job of handling their blitzes and various schemes. "(Tom Brady) seemed like he knew what we were doing," safety Kerry Rhodes said.

Do you really think the Patriots would try this against a team with several former members of their coaching staff?
Even if the Pats were looking to cheat, why would they do it so blatantly?
Not to mention, that the Pats are superior to the Jets in every way, and dominated that game from kickoff.
If BB & co are found guilty of this, they deserve whatever punishment they get. But at this point I think this story is a load of bull.

WTAM 1100, the Browns' flagship station, is reporting that Charlie Frye will be traded or released this week.

From starter to deposed in two days. The Browns are probably doing Frye a favor at this point by giving him a fresh start. Atlanta, Minnesota, Tampa, and Kansas City all make sense as possible destinations. Derek Anderson looks like the favorite to start in Cleveland until Brady Quinn is ready.

I know that Brady and Bellichek could be booked for armed robbery and the apologists would say they had a good reason.

Who knows why people do irrational things? Why did Martha Stewart take that stock info that would only have saved 50,000 dollars? Martha didn't need that money. She was financially superior to most people in the world. It made no sense. But she did it anyway. I think it's greed and naked ambition. And we've seen Bill can't handle losing very well. No class.

If they are found guilty they should:

1. Reverse that win on Sunday. Give it to the Jets.
2. Be fined heavily
3. Lose a bid in the first round next year.

Report: Browns trade QB Frye to Seahawks

September 11, 2007
LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Cleveland Browns quarterback Charlie Frye on Tuesday was traded to the Seattle Seahawks for a sixth-round pick, according to a report on FOXSports.com.

Frye was yanked in the second quarter of Sunday's season-opening 34-7 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had completed just 4-of-10 passes and was sacked five times.

Frye's replacement, Derek Anderson, was not much better, finishing 13-of-28 with one touchdown, one interception and a fumble.

The move likely elevates rookie quarterback Brady Quinn, the 22nd overall pick, into at least the backup role in Cleveland. The Browns also will re-sign Ken Dorsey, who was with the club's third quarterback during the preseason.

According to the report, Frye will step into the backup role behind Matt Hasselbeck in Seattle.

A third-round pick out of Akron in 2005, Frye passed for 2,454 yards in 13 games for the Browns in 2006, throwing 10 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions.

That would allow the Seahawks to move current backup Seneca Wallace to wide receiver, adding depth to a position that was weakened when starting wideout D.J. Hackett suffered a high ankle sprain on Sunday.

The Seahawks (1-0) play at Arizona on Sunday.

PATS GUILTY OF CHEATING

Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has concluded that the New England Patriots violated league rules when videotaping defensive signals being sent in from the sidelines by Jets coaches during Sunday's game at the Meadowlands.

NFL Security confiscated a camera and videotape from Pats employee Matt Estrella, a video assistant. Mort says that the evidence that was confiscated confirmed the suspicion.

And the punishment could be severe.

Mortensen reports that Goodell is considering the possibility of stripping the team of "multiple draft picks," given that he has issued a stern warning to all teams to avoid such behavior.

We'll echo what we said below about Claude Wroten and anyone who tests positive at the scouting combine. In this case, the persons responsible for doing this are either stupid, or they have a serious problem.

The Patriots previously had been linked to such behavior. And yet they kept on doing it.

Former defensive coordinator Eric Mangini is now the head coach of the Jets, and likely knew a thing or two about these practices in New England. And yet they kept on doing it.

In fact, we're told by a very good source that, when the Packers caught a Pats employee doing the same thing last season, the Packers knew exactly what to look for, and nailed the guy in the act. The Packers didn't press the issue only because they lost the game 35-0, and didn't want to complain under those circumstances.

The Pats' habits in this regard were so well known that, per the same source, Colts president Bill Polian had all on-field cameras removed for the 2006 AFC championship game.

Thus, the Patriots knew that other people know what was happening. And yet they kept on doing it.

If all of this is true, it reflects a dangerous amount of arrogance in that team's coaching staff. In fact, our guess is that, now that the poo has hit the propeller, whoever put this system in place will privately justify it after the fact by explaining that, in the end, the cost was far less than the benefits that have been derived.

And it makes us -- and likely many others -- wonder how far back all of this goes. How many Lombardis are potentially tainted? How many of the games during that record-setting winning streak?

Regardless of the lost draft picks, which mean much less in the salary cap era than they used to, there's now a stain on the NFL first dynasty of the new century. How far it spreads and how deep it goes remains to be seen.

Kaleb
09-11-2007, 05:30 PM
WVCB in Boston reports that Pats coach Bill Belichick has been summoned to New York by Commissioner Roger Goodell to answer questions regarding allegations that the Patriots were stealing defensive signals on Sunday against the Jets.

WEEI in Boston reports that the Patriots deny the WVCB report.

Either way, this issue is generating all sorts of buzz in league and media circles. Though it could be driven by the perception that the Patriots are the top organization in the league and the other 31 franchises would love to seem them take a fall, there's just too much smoke on this one to disregard it.

Still, we doubt that the Pats are the only team stealing signals, if the final decision is that they are or have been. Multiple readers have told us that the Eagles were taking great pains to shield their own defensive signals from prying eyes against the Packers, which suggests that this could be a fairly common thing.

But they were caught right? When one player gets caught cheating by using a performance enhancing drug, is he not suspended? One doped up player on the field is not nearly as advantageous as knowing the opponents play call.

What NE did was definitely wrong and it should cost them some draft picks, but that's about it. I can't stand the bastards either, but people are acting like they had the fix in and questioning how legit some of their wins are. Come on. It takes more than stealing some signs to kick all that booty the Patriots have over the years. Fine 'em, take a couple of picks and move on to rooting against their mangy hides next week.

I'm still bitter as all hell about our playoff loss to them in January. Do I think if I had confirmation whether or not they were stealing signals it would have made a damn bit a difference? Not really. We had a blowout on our hands but stupid drops by our WR's and ridiculous brain farts by our secondary kept New England in the game.

Am I still finding a bit of pleasure in this whole being caught cheating situation? HELL YES! It's the Patriots.

RAVENS FEAR LEWIS, OGDEN LOST FOR YEAR

A league source tells us that there is concern within the Baltimore Ravens organization that linebacker Ray Lewis or left tackle Jonathan Ogden, or both, are potentially lost for the year with injuries suffered on Monday night in Cincinnati.

The fact that the Ravens are being tight-lipped about the status of Lewis and Ogden is fueling the belief that the situation might be serious. As we understand it, information regarding the status of Lewis and Ogden is also scarce within the building.

It doesn't take a rocket surgeon to figure out that the Hall of Famers, both of whom were selected in the first round of the 1996 draft, could be seriously hurt. It took Odgen months to recover from a toe injury, and it looks like all of the progress was undone in less than one half of football. As to Lewis, he'll definitely be willing to play with one arm, but he could very well be shut down based on the outcome of an MRI that was conducted on Tuesday.

In Ogden's case, a season-ending injury could also be career-ending. He contemplated retirement after the 2006 season, and would likely be sorely tempted to call it quits in lieu of enduring more rehab and preparation for 2008.

No one said bull when the flippin' Dolphins cheated last year and held the Pats to a scoreless loss. You really think the Dolphins could have done that without cheating?! Oh right, no one cares about that team, but there is so much hate for the Pats cause we win. SCREW ALL YOU HATERS!!!

When did the Dolphins cheat?

It was last season, the Pats lost to them in a scoreless blowout. Then it was revealed that they had aquired footage so they could know what plays the Pats ran and their names (forgive me if I'm telling the story right, it was awhile ago). There was one story on it and that was it. Even if they are guilty, no amount of cheating could accomplish what happened in that game. The Pats were just a better team. Hell, the Jets weren't doing too bad, until Pennington got hurt. To me this just seems like bad sportsmanship. The Packers handled this the right way. If the Jets had won, would they have reported anything? Nope, the would have been happy with their win and went on to the next game. They lost, so "obviously" there was cheating involved. So now everyone wants to discredit the Patriots and all their victories. They would have had to cheat EVERY DAMN GAME to do what the do and if they did that then they would have been caught alot more than a "few" occasions. You could watch the Patriots like a hawk from now on and you'll only see one thing: winning.

As a long time Pats fan, that's really the only thing that bothers me about this story. Whoever put the guy up to this is a complete idiot, at least in this respect. Seriously, they deserve whatever punishment they get just for being so stupid. Sign stealing happens all the time, hence the coaches covering their mouths when they speak...all teams do it, they're just not dumb enough to get caught in such an embarrassing way.

Titans acquire defensive end Bryce Fisher in tradeTitans Onlinehttp://www.titansonline.com/wpimages/Fisher_Bryce/fisher_bryce1.jpg
The Titans added depth and production to their defensive line by acquiring Bryce Fisher from the Seattle Seahawks.
NASHVILLE, TN, Sept. 11, 2007 – The Tennessee Titans acquired DE Bryce Fisher for an undisclosed draft pick in a trade with the Seattle Seahawks today. Fisher joins the Titans after spending the last two seasons in Seattle. Prior to joining the Seahawks, he played three seasons with the St. Louis Rams (2002-2004) and one campaign with the Buffalo Bills (2001).
“He has a lot of the attributes that you look for in a base defensive end - someone who plays the run, has the ability to rush the passer and can play either side,” said Titans general manager Mike Reinfeldt. “I expect him to fit well in our system and add to the depth that we are building in the defensive line.”
“This is a good addition to our team in a number of ways,” said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher. “He has been a productive and durable player through the years and a player that we have had interest in for a number of years. I look forward to adding him to our defensive line mix.”
Fisher has played in 82 career games with 49 starts and has registered 261 tackles (159 solo), 26.5 sacks, 13 passes defensed, five forced fumbles and a fumble recovery in seven NFL seasons. The 6-foot-3-inch, 265-pound defensive end also has excelled in the playoffs, collecting 29 tackles (17 solo), 3.5 sacks and two forced fumbles in eight career postseason contests. Fisher enjoyed a breakout campaign with the Rams in 2004 when he notched a career-high 77 tackles (38 solo) and 8.5 sacks. After signing as an unrestricted free agent prior to 2005 with the Seahawks, he collected a career-best 9.0 sacks and eight pass defensed in his first season in Seattle. Last season, the seven-year veteran started all 16 games for the Seahawks and registered 46 tackles (37 solo) and four sacks. He saw action in a reserve role in the Seattle’s opener against Tampa Bay last week but did not record any statistics.
Fisher was originally drafted by the Buffalo Bills in the seventh round (240th overall) of the 1999 NFL Draft. After fulfilling a two-year active duty commitment with the Air Force, he joined the Bills for the 2001 season and notched three sacks. The Renton, Wash., native was a two-year starter at the Air Force Academy and earned WAC Defensive Player of the Year honors in the Mountain Division as a senior after posting 70 tackles, six sacks and a fumble recovery.
To make room on the roster for Fisher, DT Jesse Mahelona was released.
