MANNING APPROACHED FOR JUSTICE LEAGUE

Manning might wear the tights
BY CHLOE SULLIVAN / COLTS BEAT WRITER
INDIANAPOLIS - When Peyton Manning was a young boy growing up in Louisiana, he probably never expected that one day he'd become Superman.
But that day may soon be upon him. Various sources around Hollywood, including a few shady agents and a chimpanzee named Michael, are reporting that the Colts quarterback has been approached by Warner Bros. executives for the lead role in the upcoming film adaptation of the Justice League.
Manning, whose acting credentials include a legendary appearance on Saturday Night Live and a plethora of critically lauded commercials, has been silent on the issue, but did speak with reporters on the matter. "Obviously, there's a lot going on right now. A lot of hearsay, so I can't comment fully on the situation. All I can say is that if I get the role, the world will become a much safer place."
When asked about his audition, Manning shrugged, "It wasn't much, really. They asked me to say a few lines, take a couple of pictures. I had to leap a couple of buildings, rip open a bus. Nothing overly complicated. It was a lot of fun, really."
Whether or not Manning will get the role is still undecided, but the greatest quarterback of all time says he's ready to take it on, "You know, I've faced some of the best defenses in the league. Ray Lewis, Champ Bailey, John Lynch. I've faced the Patriots. I mean, Bill Belichick is something else. He has such a great mind and some of the best video equipment in the business. But facing someone like Vandal Savage or Captain Marvel...it's just a much different task."
Manning was asked to go into greater detail on the matter, but was mim, "I don't want to talk too much about it, guys. All I know is that I'm ready if it happens. Look, I've played with Marvin Harrison. And while he's a great player, calling audibles for Batman is on a completely different level."
That's good stuff!
You know what else is good? The Cowboys, 4-0. YEEE-HAW!!

I think if you like Defense yes but if you like a game like Bengals and Cleveland had then no.
I have seen better games but my point was the over all games seem better on SUnday night then Monday nights.
The other Sunday night games were ok .
But the best game of the day which wa sa suprise had to be Arizona and Pittsburgh.
Madden and Michaels have to go, Madden more-so than the other.

Yes they are. Aikman and Buck are okay. I wish CBS would put Phil Simms and Greg Gumbel back together since jui nantz sucks and I think Simms is the best color commentator out there. Monday night football just doesn't appeal to me. There's nothing in it that feels big time anymore, so I won't even comment on their team.

The Oakland Tribune speculates that LaMont Jordan's back injury could be serious and keep him out of action "for awhile."
The recurring injury had Jordan on crutches and wincing in the locker room after the game because his back couldn't support any weight. He was in severe pain when the injury was initially sustained and didn't talk to reporters. Jordan has a bye week to shake it off if he can, but may be limited upon return with Dominic Rhodes coming off suspension and Justin Fargas around

I don't think anyone is blaming the team...its the ownership and the coaching staff that messed everything up.
They had a good thing going in SD until they fired Schottenheimer and hired Turner and his staff.
Sorry for sounding so bitter at Turner but as a Niner fan I can't help it. After all that talk he did about looking forward to dedicating years to developing Alex Smith into a pro-bowl calibur QB, he kinda left us high and dry, just like that.
Now we're a freakin' mess on Offense. And regardless if its right or not, I partly blame Turner for that. :ninja:

For all the Tampa Bay fans, league mandated FORFEIT forms need to be filled out in triplicate and turned in to R. Goddell's office by no later than October 4, 2007.
This allows time for flight cancellations and other arangements-

Colts defensive end becomes fastest entity in universe
October 1, 2007 3:06PM EST
BY NORMAN RAD / COLTS BEAT WRITER
Lost in all of the celebration over the Colts stunning victory over the Denver Broncos was the fact that the team added a new accomplishment to its already daunting resume.
Defensive end Dwight Freeney, already regarded as one of the best mixed martial artists in the state of Indiana, recently broke the sound barrier in a star studded event in the deserts of Arizona. Freeney became the first human being to ever accomplish such a feat, and yet remained humble after the run. "I know this is a great accomplishment, but I'm going to remain humble even after this run."
Many of the celebrities and characters of fiction in attendance were floored by the achievement, including one Wally West, "Unbelievable. I always thought I was the fastest man alive, but this Dwight Freeney? Something else."
Freeney didn't speak much with the media after the historic event, but did offer a few words for his team's upcoming opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, "Basically, you know, I'm so fast they won't even see me on the field. I'll be sacking that cat, what's his name? Garcia? Yeah, I'll be sacking him and when ya'll look at it on television, it'll be like, 'Did Garcia fall backwards? How did that happen?' And then I'll slow down and reappear on the camera and ya'll will just be floored. I try to downplay my speed, but what can I say? You know? I'm just that good."
Also in attendance at the event was one O.J. Simpson, who declined to comment on his recent court troubles, choosing only to comment on Freeney's amazing achievement, "Yeah, I'm good friends with Dwight. What did I think of the run? I thought he killed it."

Maroney is one of the best running backs in the nfl. 180 yards on 34 carries in the past 2 games. Thats 5.3 a carry and his long is only 18. And he didnt play tonioght against Cincinatti, who he had 125 on 15 last year. HJe had had Morris's holes he woulda had 150 yards.
That is easily the most impressive stat. For a lot guys like Willie Parker, Adrian Peterson; or more famously Reggie Bush, their stats get inflated due to huge plays, but Maroneys different. He can do big plays, but so far this season when it says ihe is averaging 5.2 yards a carry, it means literally EVERY CARRY he is getting 5 yards, not he gets 2, he gets 1, he gets, 2, he gets 15, he get 1....Joseph Addai is the same way.
Maroney really is one of those guys who if he ever starts getting 25 rushes a game hell be top 5 in yards easy for the NFL. And dont get me started on how well he runs with passes in the flats...
I can honestly say if you gave me Maroney, Tomlinson, Peterson, Parker, Henry, Addai...and I had to pick one as my back of the future I woudl take Maroney. He is playing on a team with Moss, Stallworth, Welker...they have a huge passing game, and Morris done excellent in his limited time...
IF they had a big need to use Maroney to his full potential, his stats would be Steveb Jackson like. 1400-1500 rushing, 900-1000 in recieving. This year they hardly ever do screens to him because they have no need to.

The season the New England Patriots did the impossible and made Randy Moss a team player while also giving him the greatest NFL comeback ever. The season the Patriots had 2 pro bowl type running backs in Maroney and Morris. The season the Pats won their 4th super bowl; but more memorablly....the season the Patriots went 16-0; and 19-0 with the playoffs.

If Maroney ever gets as many carries as any of those guys hell be up there with them.
This is where expirience in actually playing the game comes into play...Maroney is consistently good just about every single snap he takes; the more he gets the better his numbers will go. Anybody who can average 84 yards a game while only getting 18 carries is great. If Maroney got the 23-25 carries a game all of those guys get he would be over 100 yard every single game and would be an "elite fantasy running back".

What you think people will be saying about the 2007 Patriots in 10 years when other teams are going undefeated deep into the season?
"Now that was a great football team"
Just because that was 10 years ago and we remember thinking very highly of them doesnt mean they are any better than a team now. 2007 Pats are unbelieveably good; sameway Green Bay was and same way Denver. Its too close too call. There isnt one team above the rest yet; they could hang with eachother. Who would comeout on top is up for debate.
Personally...this new England team if they stay healthy is gonna down as opne of the best teams ever. They have an incredible offense, and they have a great defense...but guess what.
The Patriots still get add Richard Seymour in for Jarvis Green, and Rodney Harrison. No matter who they play they will be scoring 25-20 points a game while holding no matter who they play to 10-14 points or less.
Its scary good; they will be so good its almost gonna get boring watching them blow out and destroy every single team because it simply wont be close. Pats vs. Cowboys is the only good I forsee; I dont think Colts will be as hard as people think and Steelers will put up a fight; but other than that most games will be a joke.

you continue to prove why you know nothing about football or calling players. Peterson had 103 yards on 12 carries, 55 on 1 play. so on 11 of his carries, he averaged 4.3 yards per carry. Thats very good, but Maroney is better than that.
Trying to find the next LT, you gotta look at the guys who average a lot pery carry young. Addai and Maroney both do. You become the next LT because 3-4 years of expirience, working out, ect. and your average goes from 4.5 to 5. But along with that comes more and more big plays which are what inflate your numbers from 1500-1600 a year with 5 ypc to 1700-1800 a year. Its the 16-17 carries of 5 yards or more a game mixed in with 2-3 for 10 and 1 for 20. Those are the kinda games LT had last year, they are the kinda of games Maroney and Addai have showed glimpses of; and they are the kind of games Maroney and Addai will be having 16 times a season in 2-3 years.
You were one of the guys who 3 years ago were saying mike vick was going to be the greatest qb ever, the guys who were saying LT would never match Priest Holmes, the guys this year saying tony romo wouldnt be good niether would randy moss :o

The reason I do believe, however, that they would compete would be Belichick. I honestly think that they didnt cheat against all opponents. There is bad blood between him and Mangini, and thats why he did it.
That said, we do have a team of the decade in them already. Even if the Colts dominate the remainder of the decade, Patriots were the team everyone looked up to.
The Patriots' three straight years of playoff advancement mark the longest current streak in the NFL and their string of three straight division crowns is a team record and is tied for the longest current streak in the league.
From 2003-04, Belichick directed the Patriots through the most prosperous two-year period for any team in NFL history, netting back-to-back Super Bowl victories and consecutive 17-2 campaigns. The team's 34 victories in 2003-04 mark the highest two-year win total in the NFL's 86-year history.
Patriots teams own all of the major winning streaks in NFL history: consecutive overall wins (21 from 2003-04), consecutive regular season wins (18 from 2003-04), and consecutive playoff wins (10 from 2001-05).

you continue to prove why you know nothing about football or calling players.
Did you just compare LT to Maroney:dry: ?...Also I've never heard that it was a bad thing to get 55 yards on a carry? By your theory then Rudi Johnson is Jim Brown

INDIANAPOLIS - It seems like everyday we're reporting a new milestone for the Galactic Champion Indianapolis Colts. So goes the life of the world's greatest team. And yet, once again, one of the team's legendary stars has achieved the previously unthinkable.
Colts wide receiver Marvin Harrison, who many consider to be the varsity version to the JV's Jerry Rice, recently read the entirety of JK Rowling's final Harry Potter novel in fourteen and a half minutes, setting a new world record. When approached on the matter, Harrison simply nodded and smiled. So reporters had to get comments from elsewhere.
Safety Bob Sanders gave credit to Harrison, "He's a hard working dude. I mean, he's not Bob Sanders, but he's pretty good. I be readin' novels too, man. Ya'll heard of 'War and Peace'? I read that in, like, five minutes. It's crazy."
Peyton Manning wasn't surprised by Harrison's achievement, "You know, Marvin's a great guy. So I'm not surprised by his achievement."
Reggie Wayne also commented on the impressive feat, ".......He reads Harry Potter?"
Many of Harrison's Colts teammates acknowledged the wide receiver's love for all things Potter. Center Jeff Saturday showcased Harrison's locker which contains pictures of Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson alongside quotes from all seven books in the series. Also in Harrison's locker were post-its illustrating plays, a Bob Sanders poster, and a 2007/2008 Smurfs Calendar.
Kicker Adam Vinatieri also attested to Harrison's Potter fondness, "I was out on the practice field one day kicking the ball straight through the uprights like I always do, when I saw this shadow hovering above me. At first I was kind of afraid to look up, but then I remembered that I'm Adam Vinatieri and I'm not scared of anything. IT'S TOO LATE TO CONTROL STINKO
Though the harsh post-game comments of Bengals coach Marvin Lewis to his team have been reported via ESPN, no one (to our knowledge) has made the obvious connection between the coach's remarks and the ongoing antics of Chad Johnson a/k/a Ocho Cinco a/k/a Mucho Stinko.
Stinko has become a media darling over the years. He's entertaining and engaging. He projects the receiver primadonna mentality in a way that, generally speaking, is neither offensive nor threatening. When he postures, it's funny. When he pouts, it's cute. When he argues with his quarterback (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm#), it's inspiring.
But, for a couple of years now, the media's decision to fuel Stinko's uncontrolled ego has undermined the Bengals. So has the failure of coach Marvin Lewis to bring Johnson under control.
In January 2006, a source spoke out to us about Stinko's halftime meltdown during a playoff loss to the Steelers (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm#) primarily because the source (and others) were sick of the head coach's failure to take care of the problem.
Since then, the situation hasn't improved much. The Bengals missed the playoffs in 2006, and the team's goals in 2007 have been overshadowed by Stinko's desire to showboat.
There are signs that Lewis has had enough. As ESPN (http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm#) is reporting in its current endless SportsCenter loop, Lewis lashed out after Monday night's 34-13 loss to the Patriots. Calling the team "selfish," Lewis said, "nowhere in the NFL do guys act like this" and "if you don't want to be on this team, don't show up tomorrow."
The message likely was intended for Stinko, whose mini-tantrum at the end of the first half after he zigged while quarterback Carson Palmer thought he would zag was captured by the ESPN cameras. (As several readers pointed out during Monday night's Live Blog of the game, the sock puppets would have declared a national emergency if Randy Moss had been acting that way toward Tom Brady.)
Leaving the field, Palmer can plainly be seen saying to Stinko, "Chad, you f--ked up." But Palmer might want to say the same thing to his head coach.
The blame for all of this goes to Lewis, in our view. He's the one who ignored Stinko's antics, allowing Stinko to place his own interests over the goals of the team.
And so much for locker room leadership. With one Lewis-drafted turd after another getting arrested, keeping Stinko from acting like a spoiled brat was the least of the concerns of the truly good guys like Palmer and defensive tackle John Thornton.
Though it's encouraging that Lewis apparently isn't ignoring the effect that a me-first wideout is having on the fate of the team, we think Lewis waited far too long to address the situation. And calling out the entire locker room for fear of making the delicate genius feel bad isn't the way to go, either.
In our view, Lewis needs to lay down the law with Stinko, in plain view of the other players. That will send the message that there are no sacred cows in Cincinnati -- and it will let the players realizes that the days of double standards are over.
Or maybe Stinko will simply take Lewis up on his offer and not show up today. After all, maybe the Pats are looking for another wideout.

And lest face it the Titans are better then The Bengals and maybe a just under Steelers.
My top 6 afc Teams.
1 Colts there the champs until beaten. 4-0
2 New England. 4-0.
3 Pittsburgh Steelers 3-1.
4 Denver Broncos 2-2.
5 Titans 2-1.
If you are doing this by record I would put the Titans ahead of the Broncos. The Broncos couldn't beat the Jags yet the Titans beat the Jags.
How about doing another except for the five worst teams in the NFL right now?

Steelers really looked bad this week. Titans have all winable games over the next 6 weeks and that could really build up some momentum heading into their next Monday night game vs Denver. 4 of the 5 games are road games too. :) I like that.
The Patriots are blowing away everyone. The Colts have struggled and look beatable. Patriots look unbeatable right now. I'm not saying they'll go 16-0 but if any team has a chance this year it's them. I say they'll be 14-2 or 15-1 if they don't suffer any major injuries. Colts will be 13-3 or 12-4 IMO. Titans will be 11-5 or 12-4. Titans must beat Indy when they play next time. Last year in Indy they lost by 1pt in the closing minutes. Vince Young's 1st game.

As far as next two games we are going to have a game we should win and then a challenge against the winning Bucs who are undefeated at home.
I think we should beat the Falcons and blow them out by 20 or more points. We start fast don't look back and should be up by 21 or more before halftime.
The Bucs we are going to have to contain Galloway and the potent Bucs offense. I am thinking this will be a close game with both teams scoring more than 20 points or maybe less. This will be a big statement where doubters may start thinking ok they are for real because the toughest team we played before them was the Colts.

Well except for Baltimore the Titans are the only team i think could make it into the play offs.
But i would watch for the Browns taking Denvers spot if they keep winning.
Maybe Romeo doesn't want to loose his job to Bill Cowher.

I'd love Crennel to lose his job so Belichick could bring him back to the Patriots in some capacity and Cowher would be great for Cleveland. Here's to that.

:trans: Cmill's Week 4 Power Rankings: :trans:
1.) Patriots (4-0, same): So they didn't score 38 points, huh? The magic of those tapes must be wearing off.
2.) Colts (4-0, same): That was a heck of a performance against Denver. But did they lose anyone for a significant time in the win? We'll see, but the champs will be in this thing to the very, very end.
3.) Cowboys (4-0, + 1): They haven't played the most difficult of schedules, but they've destroyed everyone they've faced. Great teams do just that.
4.) Steelers (3-1, - 1): A tough loss in Arizona, but not having Hines Ward and having to face a motivated ex-coach should've been a few signs that an upset was brewing.
5.) Packers (4-0, same): The NFL's biggest surprise continues to chug along. At 4-0, there's no doubt they are for real, but how far they can go will be the real story to follow in the weeks to come.
6.) Seahawks (3-1, + 4): With a nearly unrivaled home field advantage, and with a defense that suffocated the beat up 49ers, the Seahawks quietly remain a major NFC threat.
7.) Buccaneers (3-1, + 5): It'll be interesting to see how the two big injuries on offense will affect this team, but it goes without saying that the defense is returning to form.
8.) Titans (2-1, same): How this team comes off the bye week will be a major sign as to how far they can go in the deep AFC.
9.) Jaguars (2-1, same): As long as David Garrard plays efficiently, they have the horses on defense and in the backfield to make a run to the playoffs.
10.) Lions (3-1, + 8): Are the Lions for real? It's one of the league's greatest mysteries. But the offense can put up the points to win games.
11.) Broncos (2-2, same): That was a poor showing in Indianapolis, but not many people stand a chance inside the dome. They'll have to shake it off quickly if they want to keep pace in a now surprisingly competitive AFC West.
12.) Redskins (2-1, + 3): The week off should've done this team some good. But with Santana Moss banged up, their running game will have to pick up the slack.
13.) Ravens (2-2, - 6): Who would of thought we'd see the day where Ravens fans are calling for Kyle Boller? The way Steve McNair is playing right now, anyone would be better.
14.) Panthers (2-2, - 1): David Carr did not look good in his debut for Carolina. If Jake Delhomme is out for an extended period of time, this team could take a serious nosedive.
15.) Texans (2-2, - 9): Injuries to their receiving corps have hampered this offense. And yet, Matt Schaub continues to play great football.
16.) Cardinals (2-2, + 5): Who would've thought the platoon quarterback scheme would work? The Cardinals look like the second best in the NFC West.
17.) Raiders (2-2, + 6): With a healthy Daunte Culpepper, the Raiders are tied for the AFC West lead after four weeks. Trust me, I pinched myself before I typed this.
18.) Browns (2-2, + 7): Let's just say Brady Quinn won't be seeing the field anytime soon. Derek Anderson is playing well for the now rising Browns.
19.) Giants (2-2, + 5): Are the Eagles that bad or is this defense improving that quickly? Time will tell, but they clearly have gotten their acts together.
20.) Chiefs (2-2, + 6): That was a heck of a showing in San Diego. Two straight wins has this club tied for the AFC West lead.
21.) Chargers (1-3, - 2): And the slide to end all slides continues. This is by far the league's most disappointing team.
22.) Eagles (1-3, - 5): There is one bright side for Eagles fans: the Phillies are in the playoffs.
23.) 49ers (2-2, - 9): Alex Smith will be out for multiple games with a separated shoulder, and the team has lost two straight after a 2-0 start. They were a trendy pick coming into this season, but they've got a long road ahead of them.
24.) Bears (1-3, - 8): They apparently have no one who can play quarterback, and the defense has been torn apart by injuries. The NFC Champs are slowly looking to be a lost cause. A big game at Green Bay awaits.
25.) Bengals (1-3, - 5): With a depleted linebacking corps, and disharmony in the locker room, don't expect the Bengals to do much this season.
26.) Jets (1-3, - 4): The Jets aren't a very good football team right now. It goes without saying. That 2006 playoff run looks like a bit of a fluke.
27.) Saints (0-3, + 1): Not playing a game may have been the best thing to happen to the Saints this season. Week 1 of "The Reggie Bush Show" era begins.
28.) Vikings (1-3, - 1): Adrian Peterson has shown more than a few flashes of greatness, but the rest of this offense is a complete mess.
29.) Falcons (1-3, + 3): Don't look now, but Joey Harrington is playing reasonably solid football right now. This team may not be going anywhere this season, but at least they won't go away quietly.
30.) Bills (1-3, same): They got on the win column against the Jets. Putting together two wins may be another story.
31.) Rams (0-4, - 2): Remember all that talk about the Rams being a sleeper team in the NFC? Neither do I.
32.) Dolphins (0-4, - 1): Whatever sweepstakes you want to call it, Miami's the leading contender in it.

Chester Taylor, RB MIN
News: The Tampa Tribune reports that there are early talks between the Vikings and Buccaneers that would send RB Chester Taylor and OT Bryant McKinnie to Tampa Bay in exchange for either a player or two and/or a package of draft picks. Earlier Tuesday, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Vikings coach Brad Childress is planning on splitting the reps between Taylor and rookie Adrian Peterson, but with the Bucs hobbling at running back and left tackle, and in first place in the NFC South, those plans might change.
Analysis: In Tampa Bay, Taylor would be a prominent member of the offense and be a decent No. 2 Fantasy RB. That would be a lot better than the No. 3 Fantasy RB he is at this point in Minnesota. The Vikings are on bye in Week 5 but play at Chicago at Week 6 and could have a hard time running the ball in that game. If Taylor is still playing there, use him as a third rusher.

Bucs Pursuing Mewelde Moore?

TAMPA – Much to the Bucs’ chagrin, the Minnesota Vikings have apparently come to their senses.
They’re no longer talking about a deal that would send tackle Bryant McKinnie and/or running back Chester Taylor to the Bucs. The two teams are still talking trade, however.
The deal on the table now, according to what we’re hearing, is for backup running back Mewelde Moore. As you might expect, though, the two sides are haggling over what the Bucs would give up.
The Bucs have supposedly offered a sixth-round draft pick. The Vikings are holding out for a first-day pick. If the deal goes down, look for Tampa to surrender something like a fourth or fifth.
Obviously this is not a blockbuster type of deal but Moore would give the Bucs some depth at running back, where they’ve lost Cadillac Williams for the season to torn patellar tendon injury.
Moore has run the ball 254 times for 1,243 yards in his career and also has 116 pass receptions for 1,093 yards. He’s only played in two games this year, but he had 10 carries for 71 yards and six receptions for 48 yards in those games.

They are suppose to "blow away" bad teams!!
The Colts have not played a bad team except the Saints. and they did "blow them away" , 41-10. The Saints only scored 3 points offensively.

But the Pats have beaten the Colts. Several times. Why I'm sure they'll want to beat them to move on in the playoffs or whatever, it's not like they have to prove anything to anyone like most teams do when beating a great team.
