Romo sucked tonight....
Cowboys did not play well tonight....
The kicker saved the game tonight....
Cowboys got lucky tonight....
But no matter what, the team did not quit....THAT is what you take into the rest of the week, after Phillips kick their asses tomorrow.
Pretty good way to sum it up. And on that note, I am going to bed.

You also have to take into account that he has neither the recievers, nor the line Dallas has and his team was plagued by injuries. Ontop of that, he was playing against a coach who knows him better than anyone in the NFL.
Santonio Holmes is an animal :o
Matt this why coachs must have the patience of a saint. You dont bench someone who has been playing better then everybody but TOM BRADY because of one bad performace; recievers or not his numbers are through the roof. It is that simple; you play 16 games; you cant afford to lose a single one of em and Brad Johnson would be horrible.
Even you wanted to punish him that bad, benching him isnt punishing him. Its punishing THE TEAM and THE FANS. One bad performance in one half in a game you WON isn't even worth a talking to.
He isnt a 5 year old kid; he knows he ****d up. Hell hear it while watchin film and move on because frankly he doesnt have time focus on anything else except finding a way to beat The Patriots.

Owens dropped a critical 1st down, a TD, and a 2pt conversion. WTF? They still win. Just like the Titans but even more impressive.

You make it seem like there would be a cou'p among the Dallas players if Romo sat one game on the side lines with a clip board. There would be. Because it would be the equivalent of Philips coming out and saying he doesn't care about winning, and doesn't have any confidence in the only half-decent QB the Cowboys have had since Aikman.
Look, I'm an Eagles fan. I hate the Cowboys. Would love to see them loose for the rest of their existence. But even I, in all my bias, can see Romo is pretty damn good quarterback, and this team is a pretty damn good team. And benching Romo would do nothing but hurt that good team.
Maybe, but his performances never reached the level of Romo tonight. But that doesn't matter. When you have multiple bad games, it creates a pattern and shows you're not learning and not getting better. Playing badly in one game just shows you...played badly in one game. It doesn't give you the chance to show you're learned anything, it doesn't give you the chance to get better.
And hey, sure, Ben was benched, but...what about Peyton Manning? He had bad games. Horrible games. Where he threw 3 interceptions a game, 24 interceptions in a year. He wasn't benched. Did he turn into Kordell Stewart? Did that do anything to hurt the team in the long run? No, he didn't. And no, it didn't.

If only the Seahawks were as lucky yesterday. I'd rather see the Hawks play 'not well' as the Cowboys did tonight than what I saw yesterday. You guys still got the win. That's what good teams do, imo.

More importantly; he is a fantastic between the tackles; north to south running back. The adjustment to the NFL will be much easier for him then it has been for say, Reggie Bush, at running back. Yeah, hes in college and theres a big difference between college and the pros...however hes averaging 162 yards a game in college doing it the same way he'll be doing next year. How big is the difference really? I would expect atleast a 90 yards per game for Mike next year; unless he gets drafted top 3.

He's a decent return man. Practically non-existent on offense.
Cameron's reasoning behind that pick was some of the most boneheaded and nonsensical I've ever seen. I don't care if he would have been a Hester clone, he's got no business going at #9 unless he can make an impact in the regular scheme of the offense.

Bucs have no running back after losing 2 starters:
Sprained ankle may sideline Bucs' Pittman up to two months
Associated Press
TAMPA, Fla. -- Tampa Bay's Michael Pittman could be sidelined up to two months with an ankle sprain that has the Buccaneers scrambling for experienced help at running back.
Coach Jon Gruden said Monday that the team was waiting for the results of an MRI exam, but that it appeared Pittman, injured during Sunday's 33-14 loss at Indianapolis, will be out six to eight weeks.
How do they measure up?
With Cadillac Williams out for the year and Michael Pittman gone for up to two months, it is up to Earnest Graham and Kenneth Darby to step up for the Bucs:
Player-by-Player comparison
As you can tell by looking at NFL.com's head-to-head breakdown, the loss of Michael Pittman could be the most statistically damaging to the Bucs' chances. For complete details, click here."It is a pretty good sprain, we do believe," Gruden said. "That's a tough blow for us."
It's the second straight week the coach delivered grim news on a precarious tailback situation.
Carnell "Cadillac" Williams, the 2005 NFL offensive rookie of the year, was lost for the season after tearing the patellar tendon in his right knee during a victory over Carolina on Sept. 30.
Pittman, the team's best receiver out of the backfield, replaced Williams as the starter against the Colts and hurt his right ankle when he was tackled by linebacker Tyjuan Hagler midway through the second quarter.
"You have to adjust," Gruden said. "Cadillac was a guy that really was featured on first and second down. Pittman is a guy that has been featured on third down. Now we've lost both of those backs."
With Williams and Pittman out, fourth-year pro Earnest Graham moves into the starting role after spending most of his career as a contributor on special teams. Rookie Kenneth Darby is the backup after beginning the season on the practice squad.
While Gruden conceded the Bucs are in the market for help, he wouldn't say if the team is pursuing a trade or is more likely to sign a free agent.
"I'm not going to get involved in the speculation," the coach said.
The Bucs entered Sunday's game averaging 137 yards rushing, but fell behind early and were limited to 17 yards on 12 attempts. Pittman carried five times for minus-1 yard and Graham finished with 11 yards on six carries.

Gruden said the Colts' domination was not indicative of how much progress the Bucs (3-2), who are tied with Carolina for first place in the NFC South, have made since finishing 4-12 a year ago.
Indianapolis outgained Tampa Bay 400 yards to 177 and controlled the ball to the point that the Bucs were only able to run 40 plays -- the third-lowest number of snaps ever taken by a Colts opponent.
"I think we're a pretty good team. I realize the scoreboard and the statistics said a lot differently, but we think we're pretty good," the coach said. "We're not the first team to go into that dome and be beaten. I just want to remind people of that."
Tampa Bay's ability to move the ball also was affected by the absence of left tackle Luke Petitgout, who is out for the season with a knee injury. Second-year pro Donald Penn made his first NFL start against Indianapolis, drawing the assignment of blocking Pro Bowl defensive end Dwight Freeney.
"I thought he did some really good things," Gruden said. "There weren't a lot of snaps to evaluate, but he did a good job. He really did."
Titans are going to own the Bucs.

I totally agree. There has been alot of people doubting him before this game, so I was affraid it would add fuel to their fire. One bad game is all it was IMO. Alot of other QB's would have never recovered in the end like he did. Having a great defense/special teams helps also.

10-09-2007, 02:03 PM
The defense allowed 3 points. That was lost in all of this. Outside of the brain fart on special teams, really only Romo and TO played below what we expected, and Dallas' coverage on special teams was already pretty bad. I expect them to bounce back next week and make the game competitive, but no win next week.
Patriots 27 Dallas 24
Mister J
10-09-2007, 02:03 PM
That's the important thing; he did lead them a W in spite of all that happen. Romo admitted he stunk it up for a good majority of last night, but when they needed plays to win the game, he did what you want your QB to do. He was something like 9-11 on that last TD drive and made big throws that would have made things easier for Dallas if TO didn't drop two passes. QBs have bad, even abysmal, games sometimes, but a guy who can keep his head in the game and perform down the stretch is someone I want leading my offense.

I just read Tatum Bell might be on his way back to Denver....Also Mike Bell possibly to Tampa Bay
Mike Bell is being shopped to the Bucs
full Article: http://www2.tbo.com/content/2007/oct...s/?sports-bucs
"Mike Bell, an undrafted second-year pro out of Arizona, has seemingly fallen out of favor in Denver. He almost certainly would come cheaper than Turner, and he could provide the same kind of return."
Tatum Bell May Be Traded Bak To Denver
http://www.profootballtalk.com/rumormill.htm
POSTED 12:28 p.m. EDT, October 9, 2007
LIONS COULD TRADE TATUM BELL by Michael David Smith
The Lions and Broncos have already worked out one trade this year involving running back Tatum Bell, who was sent to Detroit in the off-season, along with offensive lineman George Foster, in exchange for cornerback Dre' Bly.
But could the Lions now trade Bell back to the Broncos?
David Birkett of the Oakland Press reports that Lions coach Rod Marinelli is using this week's bye to evaluate the running back rotation, and that with Kevin Jones and T.J. Duckett both getting healthier, Bell might be the odd man out. The Broncos, of course, would lose their starting running back if Travis Henry loses in his current bid to avoid a one-year NFL suspension, and they might be interested in acquiring a back who already knows the offense.
"I like it here," Bell told Birkett. "I like it where we're going. I think we're building, we got something special. I want to be a part of this, but if it don't work out I just got to move on."
Bell has started all five games this season, but he is clearly being phased out of the offense. On Sunday he never got the ball in the second half.
"We got to be the only team in the league where the starting running back don't even play the whole second half," Bell said. "I don't know if they're trying to tell me something or what."
If the Lions do try to trade Bell, they could also get interest from the Buccaneers, who have lost Cadillac Williams for the season and Michael Pittman for six to eight weeks.
The NFL trade deadline is 4 p.m. October 16

He doesn't have 200 passing yards total this year. Do you remember what Daunte was like at his peak?
The Green news sucks, although this result wasn't that far of a reach from the outset. Hindsight is always 20/20, but they made a move to get a starter at the risk of ticking off a guy who wasn't ready to go by mini-camp. With what Miami knew at the time, it was a good move.
I've been numb for this season ever since a punt returner was drafted at #9. With the #1 pick a possibility this year, I'm scouring the college landscape to see who the best kicker or punter is. It should be legendary.

I'm excited by it because it increases the confidence in the team as a whole. Romo had a bad game, but he didn't run and hide under a rock like alot of other young QB's would. He drove them down the field at the end, confidently. Our defense and special teams steped it up. That is what makes a great team. If one part of your game isn't doing well the rest of the team carries you through. Next week is going to be great.

People forget before 2004; hell in 2004; it was not Manning everybody expected to break the td record. It was Daunte. I remember watching a pregame interview of him by Dan Marino from 2004 where Daunte had 18 td passes through the first 5 games; and Marino asked if hed break the record that year.

Better than ever?
He doesn't have 200 passing yards total this year. Do you remember what Daunte was like at his peak?
He also Randy Moss during those years and an offense that was a power house.
His supporting cast isn't half of what it was in Minnesota, and from what I have seen Daunte has impressed me more this year than he did before.

Are you really that excited about that win, granted it was a highly entertaining game, but Romo looked like Ryan Leaf against the Bills defense.
I thought Romo should have been benched after the fifth but they stuck with him and he pulled it out with the help of the kicker. That's the kind of game championship teams pull out thats all there is to it. That said... its still a LONG season... but anything less than a Superbowl berth will be a bust... now I can live with the Packers returning to the Superbowl but the whole Farve comeback will wear thin soon enough and the Pack will miss the playoffs or get knocked out in the first round as a wild card...so Dallas should be able to get homefield which means its their conference to lose. Now they need some upsets on the other side to have a chance so Cowboy haters should breath easy until then.

That offense was ridiculous. Those two, plus Cris Carter and Robert Smith? Yikes.
Still can't believe they dropped that championship game against the Falcons.
That running game will help him a lot in Oakland. If Jerry Porter actually decides he wants to play, he could have a productive year.

Just gonna have to deal with the drops... you have to play on T.Os strengths.... he is the BIG play guy... you go to him and 1 & 10... 2 & 4... let him stretch the field... you use him as a decoy in the red zone... or a safety net if you are trying to make something out of nothing WITHOUT forcing the football... the problem with Romo is sometimes he gets too locked down to T.O or Witten in key drives... getting Glenn back till help... Romo needs to use his check downs and slot receivers more though... too many weapons that have YET to be utilized.

"Beaten".
Yeah; on paper they have won the games; they have "beaten" the opponents.
They have beaten 1 team by 29 points, 2 teams by 24 points, 1 team by 21 points, and 1 team by 17 points.
And that is when they are pretty much taking it easy on them for the whole 4th quarter. The 2and string running back is getting 10 carries a game; and they have only gone deep to Moss 2 times all year.
Maybe the standings say they are "beating" teams, but on the scoreboard; they are/putting a ****ING UP/BLOWING OUT/KICKING THE **** OUT OF THEM/ASS BEATING/BUTT KICKING the other teams.
If they were beating San Duego, Cincinatti; and co. by 3-7; maybe even 10 points; then the "they have an easy schedule" argument might work.
They "BEAT" 4 of the 5 teams theyve played by 3 touchdowns minimum; it doesnt work.
Logic would say if they DESTROY average opponents, they will BEAT good ones. It wont be a huge blow out; but theyll win alright.

Its more of a quiz than a test. The test will be colts. :o
But my bold prediction of the week...if Laurence Maroney plays hell be 2nd for the Pats in recieving yards but I also expect Moss to break 100 again.
One place these teams arent even is running game; Pats kill em. In order to take Moss, Stallworth, Welker and Watson out of the equation next week (besides covering them downfield with corners, safeties, and line backers) they are gonna try and put huge pressure on Brady. Every time he drops back the RB will be wide open in the backfield.
Maroney in flats. Screens to him will be very valuable.
The Patriots can keep the Cowboys offense contained because they are so unbalanced without a good consistent running game. Patriots can't as long as Maroney is in the game. Morris alone is hardly a threat.

"World Champs" of the sport that is only played in one small corner of the world? It's not wanting to be politically correct, it's just that they're not the "World Champs." You actually have to play, you know, the world to be champions of it. That'd be like saying the winner of the NBA Championship is the "World Champion". It's just sort of egomaniacal.

Panthers sign 43-year-old Testaverde to one-year deal
Associated Press
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Vinny Testaverde isn't finished yet - even at age 43.
The Carolina Panthers, desperate for a backup quarterback with Jake Delhomme out for the season, signed Testaverde to a one-year deal on Wednesday.
Testaverde, the No. 1 overall pick by Tampa Bay in the 1987 draft, has played in 226 games with 208 starts with six teams. He was cut by New England before the start of the season.
Testaverde will provide insurance behind David Carr, who became the Panthers starting QB on Monday when the team announced Delhomme would have season-ending elbow surgery.
Delhomme was officially placed on injured reserve Wednesday to make room for Testaverde, who passed a physical Wednesday morning.
Carr himself is banged up. He suffered a back injury in Carolina's win over New Orleans on Sunday. Matt Moore, who played briefly Sunday when Carr was being treated, is the only other quarterback on the roster.

Leinart out for the season; Cards sign Rattay as backup to Warner
Associated Press
PHOENIX -- An already difficult second NFL season came to an end for Arizona's Matt Leinart on Tuesday when he was placed on injured reserve with a broken collarbone.
Kurt Warner, the 36-year-old quarterback who had shared duties with Leinart, moves into the starting job. The team signed Tim Rattay on Tuesday to be Warner's backup.
Kurt Warner will be the full-time starter now that Matt Leinart is out for the season. But Warner has been here before, as his Cinderella career launched when he replaced the injured Trent Green in St. Louis -- incidentally, the place where Leinart suffered his season-ending injury. Warner capped that storybook season with a Super Bowl victory. Arizona fans probably wouldn't mind a sequel.
Cardinals.com: Leinart placed on IR; Rattay signed Leinart, a left-hander, fractured his left collarbone when he was sacked by Will Witherspoon in the second quarter of the Cardinals' 34-31 victory over the Rams in St. Louis on Sunday. He sat on the sideline in the second half with his arm in a sling.
"We didn't want to rush him back," first-year coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "To hold a roster spot for that long is difficult, with some of the areas we are banged, with the hope he can get back in time. I am more concerned about him trying to rush back and maybe jeopardize his future."
The uncertain timetable was a major reason for calling an end to the young quarterback's season.
"Whenever you have a fracture there will be six weeks or however long it takes to heal," Whisenhunt said, "and then, especially because it is his throwing shoulder, you have to do the rehabilitation of it throwing the football. Who knows what it could have been? Could have been 8 weeks, could have been 12 weeks."
Leinart, the 10th overall pick in the 2006 draft, had been unhappy with the two-quarterback system employed by Whisenhunt. The former Heisman Trophy winner and two-time national champion at USC has started 16 games for Arizona, including the first five this season.
But Whisenhunt used Warner when the team went to a no-huddle offense that often has been effective.
Warner's statistics are better than Leinart's.
Warner has completed 62 percent of his passes (43-of-69) for 580 yards, with four touchdowns and one interception. Leinart has completed 54 percent (60-of-112) for 647 yards, with two touchdowns and four interceptions.
Warner, a former NFL and Super Bowl MVP, is in his 10th NFL season, the past three with the Cardinals. He started the first four games last season before losing the job to the then-rookie Leinart.
Rattay, an eight-year veteran, played in four games last year for Tampa Bay and completed 61 of 101 passes. He played for the San Francisco 49ers for six years before being traded to the Buccaneers.
"He has competed in this league and he has started in this league," Whisenhunt said. "That will help him pick up the offense. Just the way he understands the game -- you see it on tape -- that's why we were interested in him."
Arizona also signed guard Keydrick Vincent and released center Chukky Okobi.

It is the Cowboys destiny to win the Super bowl this year and NOTHING can stop it! Certainly no other team in the league, and not even themselves. This Journey is for the Cowboys to complete and for them alone! Last night's unprecedented win proved it!
So Bring on the New England Cheating Pats or the Indy Ponies, or any of the so call elite teams....it don't make a difference anymore, it's out of anyone hands now, it's now destiny!

Quiet, you! Don't say or do anything to derail their momentum! :cmad: Good to see more of the Raider Nation coming out in this thread.

The only thing somebody needs to do to derail Oakland's "momentum" is throw a banana peel in Culpepper's path.

I know I'm a day late and a dollar short but I arguing the need for a non-teenybooper atress for Wonder Woman in anther thread, but I digress.....
How 'Bout Dem Cowboys! :woot:
Let me tell you something, and seriously hear me out now...there's something that's going on in Dallas these days that is beyond human comprehension, beyond reason, beyond logic.
Having that BAD of a game last night like they did (Romo was beyond horrible), and yet being able to STILL pull that game out in the last second, from having to do an on-side kick and even having to repeat a field goal....Man, what's happening with the cowboys this year isn't about Football anymore, nor even sports ...This is about....Destiny!
Yep, that's right...DESTINY!
They don't call them Cowboys GOD's Team for nothing!!!

Please do not judge all Cowboy fans by this post....:o

Destiny isn't in the NFL vocabulary anymore.....It's about taking the opportunity when it arises....back when Tom Brady stepped in and became QB did anyone think at the beginning of that season that the Pats would win the Super Bowl...No....Parity is an awesome thing and I for one have no clue who might win the Super Bowl this year...
