Couple of QB related issues:
-It's Carr vs. Green in Miami. Dolphins don't want to give up more than a sixth round pick to KC, but KC wants a second rounder. So now it seems like Carr is the better bet.
-Also, Jon Gruden is setting up a meeting with Jake Plummer as it now seems like without his retirement papers filed Jake may just end up playing for the Bucs and competing with Garcia and Simms for the starting job.
Interesting stuff on both teams... I figured Jake would eventually play.

Atlanta won't trade up to pick Johnson

The eighth overall draft pick and the two second-round choices the Atlanta Falcons received from the Houston Texans in exchange for backup quarterback Matt Schaub likely will be used to address several needs, not to trade up to land Georgia Tech wide receiver Calvin Johnson.
"Obviously we've got a local player who is not a good player, he's a great player," Falcons president and general manager Rich McKay said after the official announcement of the trade. "There will be a lot of speculation with respect to that, but it is not so easily accomplished."

Major developments in the Lance Briggs situation. This could be a doozy:
NFL Network and FOXSports.com report the Redskins and Bears are discussing a trade that would send franchise player Lance Briggs and the No. 31 overall pick to Washington in exchange for the No. 6 pick.
A huge contract and a 25-spot jump in the first round. This would be an enormous price for Briggs, who some consider a "system player" in Lovie Smith's defense. It would also relegate Rocky McIntosh to the bench.

Very interesting - this move is out of character for Washington, and the Bears seem not to be above making head scratching moves this offseason - this could work out well.

I don't know what to make of it.
Losing Lance Briggs just doesn't seem very intelligent (well, turning him off from the organization in the first place wasn't very intelligent) but at the same time you don't know who could fall into your laps at pick #6.
For Washington, it's a major head scratcher, as well. What if Briggs doesn't fit their system, coming from the Tampa 2 scheme (Adam Archuleta anyone)? So you give up the 6th pick for that?
Wow...

If I were Chicago and I took that 6th pick, I'd rather see if anybody was interested in trading up (say someone looking for Adrian Peterson or Quinn if they were to fall).

Here's the latest, courtesy of Roto:
The Redskins have reportedly made a formal contract offer to Lance Briggs that would include $20 million in guaranteed money.
The deal would reportedly pay $7.5 million-per-season, more than the $7.2 million Briggs will get if he signs his one-year franchise tender. A trade isn't considered imminent, but the proposal seems large enough to make the Briggs side happy. It's now up to the Bears and whether they're willing to part with Briggs and the No. 31 pick for the sixth choice overall
Free agent David Carr expects to meet with the Seahawks next week.
If Carr is willing to settle for a clear-cut backup job, Seattle's QB-friendly offense would be a nice fit. He could also be viewed as the 'Hawks' quarterback of the future, a designation Seneca Wallace doesn't wear.
Dwayne Jarrett ran forties of 4.67 and 4.62 at his Pro Day Wednesday.
The times are remarkably Mike Williams-esque but faster than reports Jarrett was running in the 4.7s before the Combine. He also had a strong short shuttle time of 4.2 seconds and an outstanding 10-foot-1 inch broad jump. Jarrett may have solidified himself a spot in Round One.
One of the "rumors" at the NFL owners' meetings in Arizona is that the Raiders have interest in Josh McCown, according to the Oakland Tribune.
The Raiders made a run at McCown in free agency last offseason but the coaching staff has changed face completely since then. A heady QB would seem to fit better in coordinator Greg Knapp's West Coast offense.
The Browns have reportedly joined the race to acquire Trent Green.
Detroit has also expressed mild interest. K.C. will wait for Dolphins GM Randy Mueller to return from vacation to resume talks. Chiefs GM Carl Peterson said Wednesday that a deal could be on hold until April's draft.

- Calvin Johnson is expected to visit Iran later this week in hopes of convincing the country to get its s*** together. No word yet on how this will affect the Dow.

Will They Or Won't They?
ESPN's John Clayton reports the Bears might take the Redskins' offer of the No. 6 overall choice in exchange for Lance Briggs and the No. 31 pick next week and look to trade down before the draft.
Chicago would be stuck at No. 6 hoping for Calvin Johnson to take an unlikely draft-day tumble. The pick is also may be too high for Pat Willis. Clayton's idea makes sense because it's such a great deal for the Bears even though they may not especially like what's supposed to be there at No. 6.

Some shake ups in the top 10 in this year's draft could be imminent:
Bears GM Jerry Angelo is expected to approach the Redskins and ask for the No. 6 overall pick in a straight-up exchange for Lance Briggs.
There has also been talk Washington might thrown in last year's second-rounder Rocky McIntosh to sweeten the deal. Either way, the Bears will likely make a decision on the proposed trade at some point next week.
And this one could be really juicy:
There's reportedly "talk in league circles" that the Cardinals and old line coach Russ Grimm are interested in Steelers RT Max Starks.
It's a good sign for the restricted free agent, who was criticized last season for supplying inconsistent pass protection. A potential deal would send Starks and the No. 15 pick overall to Arizona for the No. 5 pick.
Elsewhere:
- Brandon Routh reportedly told Variety that Bryan Singer is interested in replacing him in the next Superman film with future NFL star Calvin Johnson. Routh told the publication that Johnson would help the production cut down on special effects costs because they wouldn't need CG or wires to help him fly. More on this to come.

Carr to Compete in Carolina?
Free agent David Carr will visit the Panthers on Tuesday and the Seahawks on Wednesday.
He's expected to make both trips, but the Rock Hill Herald says Carolina might roll out the red carpet and try to sign Carr before he can get on another plane. The Panthers would give Carr the best chance to start.
Redskins/Bears Saga Continues...
Rocky McIntosh, Kedric Golston, and Lemar Marshall are reportedly possible "sweeteners" for a Lance Briggs-to-Washington trade.
When the Bears make their counter offer in the next few days, they could ask for McIntosh and start him in Briggs' place. Golston won a starting defensive tackle job as a fifth-round pick last year. Marshall has just one year remaining on his contract but his versatility could interest Chicago.

The consensus right now is that the Raiders are leaning 70/30 towards Russell over Johnson. There is a chance they might settle on Walter and/or Josh McCown (if they get him in a trade) and possibly draft another QB late in the draft.
However, Al Davis has been coveting a legitimate franchise quarterback, which is something he gets with Russell. Do remember that this is a team with Randy Moss still on the roster, with Jerry Porter (happy now without Art Shell), plus Doug Gabriel, Ronald Curry, and a young developing wideout Johnnie Morant. Receiver couldn't be further down the need totem pole, especially if they don't deal Moss.
Of course, "no one knows what Al Davis will do" but it's pretty darn likely they'll pull the trigger on Russell.

Falcons agreed to terms with Joey Harrington on a two-year contract.
Harrington showed he's a capable backup in Miami, but his weaknesses show up over time. Moving to Atlanta seems unlikely to rehab his value depending on how Bobby Petrino's offseason translates to the pros. The NFL suspended Bengals WR Chris Henry eight regular season games for conduct detrimental to the league.
This was expected, but it's still a blow to the Bengals offense.
The NFL has suspended Pacman Jones for the 2007 season under the league's new discipline policy
Jones' repeated problems hurt, but his failure to disclose an arrest from last off-season probably did him in. The length of suspension will allow his pending case in Las Vegas to work itself out. One of the best young defenders in the NFL, Jones will attract plenty of interest if the Titans don't want him when he applies for reinstatement in a year. That's assuming Jones isn't in jail.

CB Jones suspended for 2007 season, WR Henry banned eight games
April 10, 2007
NEW YORK (Ticker) - NFL commissioner Roger Goodell vowed to draft a revised conduct policy with harsher penalties for players who get into trouble with the law. Cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones and wide receiver Chris Henry learned it wasn't just talk.
Jones of the Tennessee Titans has been suspended for the entire 2007 season and Henry of the Cincinnati Bengals has been banned eight games for violating the league's personal conduct policy and engaging in conduct detrimental to the league on numerous occasions, the NFL announced on Tuesday.
Each player must earn the right to be reinstated.
"We must protect the integrity of the NFL," Goodell said. "The highest standards of conduct must be met by everyone in the NFL because it is a privilege to represent the NFL, not a right. These players, and all members of our league, have to make the right choices and decisions in their conduct on a consistent basis."
Goodell conducted hearings with Jones and Henry last Tuesday after meeting with a newly formed players advisory committee that worked with the league in formulating a new player conduct policy.
Disciplining players who get into trouble with the law topped the agenda at the league meetings last month. Goodell made it clear then that he intended to adopt a policy that would allow the league to impose harsher and quicker discipline to players who encounter off-the-field problems.
The first ones to feel the teeth of the new policy were Jones and Henry, college teammates at West Virginia whose two-year pro careers have been marred by arrests.
"Your conduct has brought embarrassment and ridicule upon yourself, your club, and the NFL, and has damaged the reputation of players throughout the league," Goodell told the players in a letter released by the NFL. "You have engaged in conduct detrimental to the NFL and failed to live up to the standards expected of NFL players. Taken as a whole, this conduct warrants significant sanction."
Jones has been arrested five times and questioned by police five other times since being drafted sixth overall in 2005. He still faces felony and misdemeanor charges of obstructing police in Georgia from an incident in February 2006.
Last month, Las Vegas police recommended prosecutors file a felony charge of coercion and misdemeanor charges of battery against Jones, stemming from a February 19 shooting at a strip club which left one victim with a severed spinal cord.
On the field, Jones is a rising star for the Titans. He recorded four interceptions last season, including one he returned 83 yards for a touchdown. Jones also returned three punts for scores and led the NFL in punt return average (12.9 yards).
Jones will be strictly monitored by the Titans and the NFL during the suspension as part of his opportunity to earn reinstatement through adherence to a set of conditions. His status will be reviewed after the Titans' 10th regular-season game to determine the extent to which he has complied with the conditions.
One of the conditions is that Jones gets into no further trouble with the law. Another is that he fully cooperate with all required counseling, education and treatment assigned under league or court-ordered programs.
"We are hopeful that it (the suspension) will achieve the goals of disciplining the player and eventually enabling him to return to the field of play," Titans owner Bud Adams said in a statement. "Our goals for Jones are consistent with the league's in that regard. We will need assurances from the player on a number of issues before we are comfortable having him return to the team.
"Until we see a change in behavior through his actions and until he shows the ability to avoid controversy off the field, we will move forward with the possibility that he may not return to this team."
Henry has been arrested four times in the last 14 months and was suspended two games last season for violating the league's personal conduct policy. The charges include possession of a concealed firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm, DUI and providing alcohol to minors.
Henry will be reinstated after the team's eighth regular season game if he meets certain conditions during his suspension that will be monitored by the Bengals and the NFL.
"We support the commissioner's ruling," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said. "While we regret the circumstances that called for it, it's good for both Chris and the Bengals to have the matter resolved. Our team will move forward, and now it is up to Chris to acquire a more mature understanding of his responsibilities as a player for the Bengals and a representative of the NFL."
Henry must not get into further trouble with the law and must also fully cooperate with all required counseling, education and treatment assigned to him under league programs.
If Henry complies with the conditions, he will be eligible to participate in training camp and play in preseason games.
Jones and Henry were told that any failure to comply with these conditions will result in additional discipline, including possible banishment from the league.
"I must emphasize to you that this is your last opportunity to salvage your NFL career," Goodell wrote to Jones and Henry. "I urge you to take full advantage of the resources available to support you in that effort."
Henry, 24, tied for the team lead with nine touchdown catches last season, making 36 receptions for 605 yards. As a rookie in 2005, Henry caught 31 passes for 422 yards and six TDs.
A hearing is pending for Chicago Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson, who is serving a four-month prison sentence after pleading guilty to a felony weapons charge.

Schedule suck this year... but no one watches Monday Night anymore so w/e... the opener looks good but thats about it... They should ditch the format... I know it fits perfectly an all but the NFL has really been hurt by the lack of rivalries outside the divisions... and they don't even utilize that... Cowboys Eagles looks like the only one from what I saw but I did just glance at it... the point is... Packer/49ers/Cowboys matchups should be annual every year... I miss those old rivalries... the good old days were fun... over in the AFC Steelers/Indy/Patriots should be annual as well... Indy/Balt can develop into a good one with time once Baltimore gets a QB for the future. But rivalries come and go... ppl are probably tired of NE/Indy on prime time which is why they probably passed on it this year... I wish I had a solution... maybe ditch the salary cap so the big markets are good every year... that would be interesting to see... not that I want it... just a thought

Bledsoe Calls It Quits
Drew Bledsoe announced his retirement from football.
The first pick in the '93 draft, Bledsoe finishes his 14-year career with 44,611 passing yards and a 251-206 TD-INT ratio. He ranks 13th in career passing scores and fifth in completions despite a sub-par 57.2 completion rate. Bledsoe will likely be best remembered for the injury that allowed Tom Brady to take over as the Patriots' QB in 2001, paving the way for Brady to lead the Pats to three Super Bowl Championships.

For the life of me I don't understand the hype with this kid. Yes he is huge and has just as big an arm, so what? Kyle Boller had a great arm too. Just going through his profile on several sites, it seems like the guy had a penchant for come-from-behind wins. Played in a tough conference and has Culpepper-like physical skills.

He was successful during his reign as QB - however he also played for probably the most talented team in the SEC and has what to show for it?
However lets say he is the second coming of Culpepper - the QB he is most compared to for obvious reasons. Is Culpepper considered a top 3 NFL QB? Was he ever, even at his peak? When I hear NFL pundits label him as a type of player you "only see every 10 years in the draft" I have to scratch my head.

Is Culpepper considered a top 3 NFL QB? Was he ever, even at his peak?
I only go by what the numbers tell me, and the numbers say (pro bowl years in bold):
2000 - 3973 yards, 33 TDs, 16 INTs
2001 - 2612 yards, 14 TDs, 13 INTs
2002 - 3853 yards, 18 TDs, 23 INTs
2003 - 3479 yards, 25 TDs, 11 INTs
2004 - 4717 yards 39 TDs, 11 INTs
Over the course of '03-'04, he was a top 3 QB. Had it not been for Manning's freakish year in '04, he would have been the league MVP. So take from it what you will (and especially considering the obvious Moss factor).
I think scouts are merely referring to the fact that the guy (Russell) has an unreal arm (like, 'biggest arm ever' kind of arm). He's mobile, he's big. Yatta yatta.

He's a developmental player. The guy can throw a ball 80 yards!! His mechanics aren't perfect, but he has amazing size, a big time arm, and mobility for someone that big.

2007 Hype! NFL Mock Draft
Group Selections Will Begin at 12PM on April 16th!
1.) 8 players will represent 8 different groups of teams that they will make picks for in this mock draft.
2.) First come, first serve!
3.) Once the players are set, picks will run daily from 12PM-12AM until the end of the round (we will only be playing the first round). I will announce when the next team is on the clock. If a player's time is set to run out after 12AM, their pick CAN be pushed to the next day.
4.) If a player fails to get in their pick on time, they will be bumped down a slot, and the next player will pick ahead of them.
5.) Players will have 3 hours from the moment it is announced that they are on the clock to make their pick (unless the previous selection occurs just before the 12AM mark). A player can, however, PM their pick in if there are issues with time.
6.) There will be NO TRADES (too darn confusing).

Vince Young Named Cover Man for Madden 2008
SOURCE: http://www.coshoctontribune.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070416/UPDATES04/70416033
Vince Young has survived the so-called “SI cover jinx” — three times to be exact.
Can he escape the “Madden curse?” It looks like everyone will get a chance to find out this fall.
According to his agent, the Tennessee Titans quarterback has been told he’ll appear on the cover of “Madden ’08,” the popular football video game. However, whether it’s a coincidence or a curse, recently players have suffered from injury problems during the year they appeared on the cover.
Young’s agent, Major Adams, said they didn’t believe in jinxes.
“People said when they put Vince on the cover of Sports Illustrated, it was going to jinx him in the Rose Bowl game, and (Texas) won the national championship,” Adams said. “We don’t believe in stuff like that.”
Officials from EA Sports wouldn’t confirm Young is this year’s choice for the cover, which was to be officially announced on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” which airs Tuesday at 11 p.m. on ABC.
Seattle Seahawks running back Shaun Alexander was on the cover of “Madden ’07,” and he broke a bone in his left foot early in the season. The past four cover players have been injured, including Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb, who suffered a sports hernia the season he was on the cover of “Madden ’06.” Before that, it was Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis (injured wrist) and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Michael Vick, who suffered a broken leg during an exhibition game in 2003 when he was on the cover.
And might I also add that Daunte Culpepper ('02) and Marshall Faulk ('03) also had injury plagued years after being on the cover.
I registered the name Vince Young, but never got the confirmation email. :(

Kiffin Likes Quinn?
An NFL source tells Raiders beat writer Jerry McDonald that coach Lane Kiffin is in favor of drafting Brady Quinn with the No. 1 overall pick.
The consensus top prospect before being outplayed by JaMarcus Russell in the Sugar Bowl and Calvin Johnson's decision to leave school early, Quinn visited with the Raiders on Tuesday. He would seem a better fit for coordinator Greg Knapp's West Coast offense than Russell.

Don't put in too much stock into it... there isn't a lockdown player that is a slam dunk number one overall this year... you gotto interview everybody... The Dolphins have just as much of a chance at finishing 2nd in their division....behind the Patriots, as any of the other teams. Although I think we'll be seeing this:
1) Patriots
2) Jets
3) Dolphins
4) Bills
In regards to the Titans they will only go as far as Vince Young, Jeff Fisher should be thanking the Lord every night for giving him Vince Young. Last year would have been his last year with the Titans if Vince hadn't strapped on a pair and ignited the team.

In 2000 when Eddie George was on the cover of Madden he managed to help the Titans get into the playoffs along with Steve Mcnair. The worst thing that happened was Ray Lewis picking off a interception from Eddie George and taking it back for a td that would make the score 24-10 and the Ravens going on to win the Super Bowl. I am sure that he can avoid getting hurt.

FOXSports.com reports "sources close" to owner Al Davis believe the Raiders will ultimately choose JaMarcus Russell with the No. 1 pick.
The Raiders are still undecided between Calvin Johnson and Russell, according to John Czarnecki, but are expected to take the quarterback because it's a greater need. The Czar adds that there was "word" Oakland offered Randy Moss to Detroit in a potential Josh McCown trade.

You want me to explain further. Joey Porter thinks he will just knock down any running back and prevent the offense from scoring. When it's the running backs that are going to run past Joey Porter. He might also get knocked down by a running back. The other team is also going to be scoring plenty of points on the terrible Dolphins defense. I think that the Dolphins are going to have a really inconsistent offense. Titans return to primetime in 2007 NFL schedulehttp://www.titansonline.com/wpimages/jones_brandon/jones_brandon11.jpg (http://www.titansonline.com/press_box/schedule/index.php)
The Titans make their 2007 regular season home debut against the Super Bowl Champion Colts on Sunday, Sept. 16 at LP Field.
NASHVILLE, TN, April 11, 2007 — The Tennessee Titans return to primetime in 2007 (http://www.titansonline.com/press_box/schedule/index.php), after a two year absence on the national schedule, with two appearances on ESPN’s Monday Night Football at New Orleans (Sept. 24) and at Denver (Nov. 19). The Titans will open the season at division rival Jacksonville (Sept. 9) and open the home schedule the following week against the Super Bowl Champion Indianapolis Colts on Sept. 16.
“As I posted the season schedule today in the weight room the level of excitement among the players quickly increased as the first thing they looked for were nationally televised games and saw the two Monday Night games,” said Titans head coach Jeff Fisher.
“I too was happy to see that the momentum we built at the end of last season translated into two Monday night games, an experience we haven’t had over the last two seasons. Opening this season or any regular season versus a division opponent is a challenge. The final four games are against playoff teams from a year ago and this year’s bye falls a little early, but byes always come at a good time.”
The Titans schedule features home game against Atlanta, Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, New York Jets, Oakland and San Diego. Tennessee will travel to Cincinnati, Denver, Houston, Indianapolis, Jacksonville, Kansas City, New Orleans and Tampa Bay.
Again this year, the NFL will feature “flexible scheduling” for the Sunday night game in Weeks 11-17. Teams will be given two weeks notice if a game is moving from an afternoon game to a night game.
Single game tickets for the 2007 season will go on sale July 14.
The Titans 2007 schedule contains several interesting stories:
· The Titans will renew their rivalry with the Cincinnati Bengals on Nov. 25. The Bengals and Titans/Oilers have faced each other 69 times during the regular season, the most of any Titans opponent.
· The schedule features five playoff teams in six games: Indianapolis (twice), N.Y. Jets, San Diego, Kansas City and New Orleans.
· The Titans will play a regular season game in Denver for the first time since 1992 and make their first regular season visit to Invesco Field.
· The Titans will make their first regular season appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City since 1995.
· The Oct. 14th game at Tampa will mark the team's first visit to Raymond James Stadium as the Titans.
· The schedule features three consecutive home games in the middle of the schedule. It marks the first three-game homestand for the Titans since 2000, when they faced Pittsburgh, Baltimore and Cleveland in consecutive weeks.
· Carolina and San Diego will play for the first time at LP Field, where opponents are 6-21 in their initial visit.

Titans players excited about primetime scheduleBy Rand ChampionTitans Onlinehttp://www.titansonline.com/wpimages/NFL/espnmnf4.jpg
NASHVILLE, TN, April 13, 2007 — After finishing the 2006 season by winning eight of their last 11 games, the Tennessee Titans felt they had gained respect around the league as a team on the verge of returning to perennial playoff status. That feeling was confirmed by the NFL this week, as Tennessee was rewarded with a pair of primetime games during the 2007 regular season.
“When I saw the two Monday night games, I was ecstatic,” said wide receiver Courtney Roby. “We’re going to be on primetime, which means it’s time to get out there and show the country what we can do.”
The two scheduled Monday Night Football games have created a buzz around the team’s locker room. Tennessee will play at the New Orleans Saints on Sept 24th in a game already being billed by some as Vince Young vs. Reggie Bush – Part II. The other primetime contest will be at Denver on Nov. 19th.
While neither Monday night appearance will be at home, it’s not diminishing the excitement that surrounds playing in front of a national television audience.
“As an NFL player, that is exactly what you want to see, and I can’t wait,” said fullback Ahmard Hall. “We had a chance to play in Denver last year for a preseason game, and the atmosphere was incredible. So I can only imagine what its going to be like for a Monday night game.”
While the players were more concerned about the primetime games, the coaches’ attention was drawn to the first two games of the season. The Titans open with two big divisional games – Sept. 9th at Jacksonville, followed by the home opener Sept. 16th against the defending Super Bowl champion Indianapolis Colts.
A quick start to the season could prove to be exactly what Tennessee needs to legitimize itself as a playoff contender.
“We have to prove ourselves early,” said offensive lineman Eugene Amano. “We start off against division rivals and our goal is to get some big wins early, get that momentum going and have it continue throughout the rest of the season.”
The first two games could also establish the Titans as one of the teams to beat in the AFC South. In fact, in 2006, the Titans held the best record against AFC South opponents at 4-2. The Colts and Jaguars both finished 3-3 against divisional opponents, while the Houston Texans finished at 2-4.
In addition to the three home games against AFC South rivals, the Titans welcome electrifying quarterback Michael Vick and the Atlanta Falcons, Oakland, Carolina, San Diego, and the New York Jets to LP Field. The Titans’ worst loss of the 2006 season was a 40-7 pounding at the hands of the Chargers, and many are already licking their chops to have All-Pro running back LaDainian Tomlinson and company play in their house.
“I’m from San Diego, so I definitely have that one circled,” said Amano. “They got us pretty good at their place last year, but this time they’re coming here, so hopefully we’ll have a better showing and return the favor against them.”
Tennessee finished with a 4-4 record away from LP Field in 2006, and it will be a challenge to duplicate that finish. The Titans play in arguably two of the toughest road venues in the league when they play the Monday night game in Denver, as well as at Kansas City on Dec. 16th. Throwing in a trip to playoff-contender Cincinnati and the regular season finale at Indianapolis makes the road schedule even more challenging in 2007.
But despite the primetime dates, numerous chances for payback from 2006, and road games in some of the NFL’s toughest venues, two dates seemed to be circled in big, bold ink, by many of the players.
“I’ve always got the Colts circled,” said Roby. “I was born and raised in Indianapolis, so I always look forward to playing them.”
“I can’t wait to see what we can do against the Colts,” Hall added. “Everybody is going to be shooting for them, they have a big target on their chest, and we get them the second game of the year. I’m excited to get out there, smash some heads, and see what we can do against the defending Super Bowl champions.”

Oakland has reportedly begun contract negotiations with both Georgia Tech wideout Calvin Johnson and LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell.

If Al Davis really feels that way - there is no way he passes on Russell.
If the Raiders pick Russell - I would bet big money on the Bucs trading up to the number 2 spot.

Wasn't there talk of Atlanta trading up for Calvin Johnson? That would really shake things up.

The two back system has worked well for other teams. If Williams could stay clean from now on there is no doubt in my mind that the Rams could be a huge NFC contender. QB Bulger is an outstanding player and is underrated IMO.
Same goes for last year, they play in the NFC West. Every time I watched them blow a game (one comes to mind in the Seattle game at home which featured that awesome Torry Holt touchdown.) the same thought came up which was "how can you underachieve when your only main competition is the Seahawks??" Hopefully they improve enough this year to get back into playoff contention.

Well you look at some of their games last year. Most of the losses were decided by 3 points or less. And some of their games they put up 40+ points. I think this team should go defense in the draft. They already picked up unrestricted free agent Chris Draft who did well for the Panthers last season. This really could be the sleeper team in the NFC.

CJ will end up a Raider or a Buc. I don't really see a situation where he goes elsewhere.

Atlanta may have the ammunition to do so, but the problem is with a team like, say, Detroit: would you really want to trade all the way down to 8 and possibly lose out on a Gaines Adams or Brady Quinn? Sure they have tons of needs and could use an extra pair of 2nd rounders, but trading down six spots in the top 10 is a tad risky.

It's not that bad considering this year's talent. They're not nearly as good as last year's, but they've got their shiners.
Although, with ATL picking up Joe Horn just recently, I doubt they'll trade up for CJ. I know Horn's on his last legs, but he's still a playmaker, and there's no reason to get a future prospect immediately.

'Pacman' Jones buys full-page newspaper ad for letter to fansBy Teresa M. WalkerThe Associated Presshttp://www.titansonline.com/wpimages/jones_pacman/pacman27.jpg
Pacman Jones promised to regain the trust of his team and fans in a full-page newspaper ad he bought in Friday's Tennessean.
NASHVILLE, TN, April 20,m 2007 — Suspended Tennessee Titans cornerback Adam "Pacman'' Jones bought a full-page newspaper advertisement to print an open letter in which he promised to regain the trust of his team and fans.
In the ad in the sports section of Friday's editions of The Tennessean - Nashville's daily newspaper - Jones told his family, coaches, teammates and Titans fans he must reorganize his priorities.
"In the past few weeks, I have learned a lifetime of lessons,'' the letter states.
Jones writes of hoping to not only meet, but exceed the expectations people have of him.
"The first step in meeting these goals is for me to stop making the poor choices that have put me in this position,'' the letter reads.
Jones said he plans to appeal his season-long suspension by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell, the same person who will hear that appeal. Cincinnati receiver Chris Henry, a teammate of Jones at West Virginia, also was suspended. But Henry received an eight-game ban.
In his letter, Jones said his attorneys advised him to appeal the suspension to "clarify some of the facts and address the unprecedented punishment that was imposed.'' Jones first announced his intention of appealing last week.
His attorneys had declined to comment since Jones' announcement he would appeal except to promise that a statement was coming. The appeal must be filed by April 30.
Jones said he plans to re-enroll at West Virginia University and finish his degree.
The sixth pick overall in the 2005 draft and the first defensive player taken that year, Jones has talked with police 10 times since being drafted, and been arrested five times. He has not been convicted of any charge since being drafted.
Goodell left open the chance for Jones' return after the Titans' 10th game if he meets a list of stringent requirements. That included staying out of "adverse'' involvement with police and putting together a plan of community service the NFL must approve.
But Las Vegas police want to charge Jones for inciting a fight at a strip club on Feb. 19 that led to a triple shooting. Jones also did not inform the Titans of two arrests in Georgia last year, and a felony obstruction charge for allegedly biting a Fayetteville, Ga., police officer was delayed until May.
Titans owner Bud Adams has said team officials weren't sure they want Jones back unless he changes his behavior and avoids controversy off the field. Titans coach Jeff Fisher didn't want to talk about Jones during a radio interview Friday morning.
"We've moved on. I have moved on,'' Fisher said.

I doubt that his appeal is going to do him anything. I am sure that the commissioner his going to stand by his decision and Pacman Jones won't be playing in the NFL this season.

The real draft will be done and overwith by the time we get a mock going. :o

I'm cancelling the mock. Not enough interest plus the fact that these damn unfruitful Hype-less weekends have taken away some of our time.
That is a good plan... they have to get this site running swell by the time Spider-Man 3 hits.

This is true, but it's still going to be a ***** to get on/navigate the Hype when that movie hits. :o

Not really. What would really shake things up is someone traded up to muinber 1 and someone other than Calvin Johnson or JaMarcus Russel.

I heard on the Dan Patrick show (or was it The Herd?) that the Redskins are suppose to be very interested in Calvin Johnson and trading up.
Why? Because Dan Snyder is...less than brilliant when it comes to personal moves - there is really no other reason.
