Yeah uh that explanation the NFL gave made no sense. Brady complained about on the field; thats where he heard it. It ha snothing to do with what cbs put out on tv.

But WHATEVER, we won and its over and will play them in Foxboro so who cares?

Well, lord knows the NFL can't send their poster boys up the river.

But yeah, the Colts have been cheating too. The Pats aren't the first team to make this accusation. Unfortunately it is impossible to prove. And even if it were, I'm sure Celldog would come up with some lame excuse as to how its not cheating.

How so?

Simple. Last time they played, the Steelers won. Following Celldog's logic (The Colts won the super bowl so they are the best until someone proves they are not the best team), until the Colts prove they are the better team by beating the Steelers, the Steelers are better :cwink:

While I like the Steelers, their offense isnt good enough to hang with the Colts.

I disagree. Last year, yes. But Ben has really stepped up his play this year. Willie Parker is on fire. And last year Ward was their only real reciever. This year Ben has been spreading the ball around a lot more, involving Miller, Holmes, and Washington more than ever. Factor that in with Holmes coming into his own as a reciever and Ben is suddenly a much more dangerous QB. All of a sudden, simply double teaming Hines won't shut down the Steelers' passing game.

Plus I just don't think Manning can handle the kind of pressure the Steelers' defense puts on a quarterback (and lets face it, it is entirely unique. No team in the league runs a defense like Dick LeBeau's).

In an issue of fairness, it's something a lot of teams complain about when they go to ANY visiting stadium, not just Indy.

Parker would get shut down by colts dline same way he did last night. Only reason Maroney did well against them on sunday in the first half is because he gets overlooked. Once they did focus in on him, he got shutdown, but that opened up the passing game.

Dif. is Pitts recievers are nothing compared to Pats; Holmes is the best and he is about as good as Stallworth. They have no guy they can always go to the way Pats do with Moss; who almost single handily won them that game.

Steelers offense is good, but it isnt that good.

No there not. Steelers took advantage of a badly injured team that couldn't hold onto the ball in wet weather. I know it was wet on both sides of the field but sometimes it snowballs for oneside. Ravens are not a playoff team.

Colts: CBS Takes Responsibility for Audio Incident

("Nov 5, 2007 7:02 PM EST"); By Anthony Calhoun
24-Hour News 8 @ 6:00

INDIANAPOLIS - The Patriots are calling foul against the Colts one day after defeating the blue and white at the RCA Dome. But CBS, the network that broadcast the game, is taking responsibility for the audio incident in question.

The Patriots claimed the Colts were blasting artificial crowd noise through the dome speakers during the game, which is against NFL rules. New England says during Sunday's game you could hear a skip that proves the crowd noise wasn't real.

The play in question occurs when New England has the ball for the first play of the 4th quarter. But if you watch the play from the 24-Hour News 8 cameras rolling at the same time the problem isn't there. And if you listened on the Colts radio broadcast it wasn't there either.

The Colts would not talk about the allegations on camera.

Instead they issued this statement: "CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts game was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast. It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium."

The Colts go on to say, "We trust this will put an end to the ridiculous and unfounded accusations that the Colts artificially enhanced crowd noise at the RCA Dome in any way."

NFL: CBS, Not Colts, Created Odd Game Noise

Team Denies Piping Artificial Sounds Into Dome

Michael Marot,
AP Sports Writer

INDIANAPOLIS -- The Indianapolis Colts contend the debate about the decibel level in the RCA Dome is merely noise, and now they have the NFL taking their side.

A day after some unusual sounds were heard during the Colts-Patriots broadcast Sunday, the NFL issued a statement saying what sounded like simulated crowd noise was actually created by the CBS production crew, not the Colts.

"CBS has informed us that the unusual audio moment heard by fans during the Patriots-Colts game was the result of tape feedback in the CBS production truck and was isolated to the CBS broadcast," the league said. "It was in no way related to any sound within the stadium and could not be heard in the stadium.
Network officials did not give any additional details, referring only to the league's statement. The telecast received the highest overnight rating, 22.5, of any Sunday afternoon regular-season NFL game since at least 1987 and had a 39 share nationally.

The Web site YouTube carried a 1-minute, 10-second clip entitled "Indy Cheats" that replayed the moments in question.

On the first play of the fourth quarter, a 14-yard pass from Tom Brady to Randy Moss, the crowd noise is heard before and during the play, then immediately cuts out when Moss is tackled. In addition, there appeared to be a vibration in the sound while the crowd was cheering.

A published report on yahoo.com said Patriots president Jonathan Kraft complained to NFL vice president of security Milt Ahlerich afterward. Kraft is the son of Patriots owner Robert Kraft.

Any enhancement of crowd noise would violate NFL rules, and Patriots spokesman Stacey James denied the team either filed or intended to file a formal complaint with the league.

It's not the first time Indianapolis has been accused of such tactics. The Pittsburgh Steelers complained about the same thing after a 26-7 loss at the dome in November 2005. Since then, other teams have informally contended there is artificial noise pumped into the dome.

The Colts have continually denied the accusations, and issued their strongest worded statement yet on Monday.

"We trust this will put an end to the ridiculous and unfounded accusations that the Colts artificially enhanced crowd noise at the RCA Dome in any way," the team said.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick, no stranger to controversy, did not discuss those allegations during his regularly scheduled news conference Monday. Instead, Belichick said he was more concerned with communication problems he said existed between Patriots coaches and Brady.

"Basically, we didn't have a coach-to-quarterback operation, so we had to signal in all of the plays, which is unusual, but that's the way it was," he said. "What all was going on, I can't tell you, but I can tell you that, from a functional standpoint, the coach-to-quarterback was basically useless."

The latest accusations add yet another chapter to this already heated rivalry.

There have been complaints about leaving the field at Gillette Stadium uncovered the night before games and contentions Pats defenders were illegally holding receivers downfield.

Now there's crowd noise, communication issues and even something as simple as a postgame handshake between Colts coach Tony Dungy and Belichick, who quickly walked past Dungy as Dungy attempted to speak with him Sunday.

Dungy downplayed the incident.

"Bill is fine, he's a good guy, that's the way he is win or lose," Dungy said. "He's just an intense guy out there. I wouldn't describe it any way other than what it is."

What a class guy Tony is. :yay:

Is it time to pull the plug on McNair?

There is simply no way to overemphasize the problems the Ravens have to deal with. I'm not going to get into blaming and finger-pointing. Just try to look at some realities.

Steve McNair was a good deal for this team last season. He took them to 13-3 and instilled a confident calm in the huddle. But it is apparently over unless there is an injury problem that the Ravens are keeping under wraps. The ESPN folks showed a graphic last night that quantified what anyone who watches this team has suspected since the Colts game -- the Ravens go downfield less frequently than any team in the league. This year, they try less than half as much as the league average.

Brian Billick will reasonably contend that play-calling decisions are predicated on opposing defenses and so on. Plus, you have to consider whether there is enough confidence in the offensive line to call plays that are going to require the QB to hold the ball longer. Regardless, the Ravens, with McNair, are not getting the ball downfield at all. Does McNair have the arm for it? Billick would probably say that he does. But no one sees it enough to really know. Can Kyle Boller get the ball deep? Well, at least we see him make the throw -- whether he connects or the receiver makes the play is another story. But he can get the ball deep.

The stats from last night were incredible and the conclusion inescapable. McNair had 13 completions for 63 yards. That's less than five yards a completion. That's a sign of probably two things. A quarterback who can't get the ball downfield and a defense that realizes it and is tightening the coverage on the underneath throws. Think about it, why should an NFL cornerback worry about a Ravens wide receiver running past him at this point?

Pulling the plug on a great quarterback like Steve McNair is never easy. And I have no idea how it will play in the locker room. But as they say, desperate times ...

The Patriots played like **** for almost 3 quarters and still rallied down 10 and won that game. What do you think would happen if they hadn't played like **** the first half? And when I say ****, I say that in terms of how the Patriots usually play, any other team that is within 10 points of the Colts at the end of the game usually played pretty well against them. That was the first time at home since Tony Dungy took over that the Colts lost a game up at least 10 points going into the 4th quarter. I know it is probably impossible for you, but give credit where its due and maybe you won't get as much crap thrown your way. The Pats are just better.

They should have drafted Santonio Holmes a couple years back but passed on him due to character issues:csad:

Don't you remember last year, the Titans had won about 6 or 7 in a row and the got their asses handed to them by the Patriots? They are not a good matchup against the Patriots.

Last year when the Titans had the 32nd ranked defense? Oh well they're the #2 overall ranked defense now and lead in several categories. They're also the #3 ranked rushing team this year.

Different year...different mentality.

Oh and in that game it was Titans 23 Patriots 27 going into the 4th quarter before things snowballed. Not bad for the worst defense in the NFL in 2006.

Williams would work well with the Titans. It's funny that Williams lost his job with the Raiders from his last dropped potential touchdown catch in the Titans game a couple weeks ago.

They were on a 7 game winning streak, the hottest team in the league, and it doesn't matter how close it was going into the 4th, the Patriots beat them big points wise.

It may be a different Titans team this year, but the Patriots are vastly superior than last years version of the Patriots as well. What do rankings really matter? The Redskins had the 5th ranked defense until the Patriots put up 52 points? The Colts? 4th ranked defense. On and on it goes.

A reminder of that Titans/Colts game this year. There was no Colts domination at all:

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Vince Young and the Tennessee Titans ran out of magic. Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison couldn't ice the victory. Adam Vinatieri struggled kicking the ball.

So of course, the Indianapolis Colts' defense -- yes, the one that let the Titans come back to win in December -- made the plays that mattered most.

"Our defense saved the day, and that's what good teams do," Colts coach Tony Dungy said. "They find a way to win."

This time, the Titans (1-1) trailed by 13 points instead of 14.

"Anytime the ball's in Vince Young's hands, everyone feels like we're going to win the game," Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch said. "We were just waiting for something magical to happen."

But unlike last December, when Rob Bironas capped a similar comeback with a 60-yard field goal, the Colts collapsed around Young on fourth-and-4. That forced him to lob the ball away in the final seconds.

Manning kneeled down to run out the clock as defending champion Indianapolis (2-0) reminded Tennessee which team remains atop the AFC South.

"The defense came up big," Manning said.

Vinatieri had one of his worst days in years despite making field goals of 22, 39 and 20 yards.

Official site links ...
The Colts’ first road trip of the 2007 regular season came Sunday. They took an early lead and hung on for a victory against Tennessee. More ...

The Colts gently reminded the sellout crowd at LP Field that the road to the division title still runs through Indianapolis.More ... He had an extra point blocked and a field goal partially blocked that bounced off the crossbar before going over. He also missed a 36-yarder to the left after the Colts recovered a fumble in the fourth quarter.

"There were some things out there I've never seen before," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "I've never seen a ball tipped, and then hit the cross bar and go in. That's the good fortune of the world champs."

The Colts had every reason for a letdown in their first road game after unveiling their title banner before the opening 41-10 rout of New Orleans. And they played without starting linebackers Freddy Keiaho (right elbow) and Rob Morris (ribs).

Indianapolis allowed Tennessee 313 yards, including 141 yards rushing. But that was well below the 282 rushing yards the Titans had in their opener.

The Colts nearly blew a 16-6 halftime lead. Vinatieri struggled and the Titans picked off Manning and sacked him twice in the second half.

Indianapolis twice had the ball at the Tennessee 8 and had to settle for field goals. They even came up with a fumble when linebacker Tyjuan Hagler, starting in place of Keiaho, recovered at the beginning of the fourth period.

But Tennessee, which gave up more yards than any other NFL defense in 2006, had to settle for two field goals before LenDale White scored his first pro TD in the third.

The Titans held the Colts to a three-and-out after the turnover. But Vinatieri, the kicker signed last year for his accuracy in the clutch, missed a 36-yarder.

"We won, and that's the only thing that's really, really important," Vinatieri said.

Young, who stopped a drive himself with a taunting penalty just before halftime, drove the Titans 74 yards and pulled them within 22-20 with a 2-yard pass to Roydell Williams with 6:02 left.

Manning had his own chance to seal the victory. But Titans cornerback Nick Harper, who won a Super Bowl ring with the Colts in February, leaped up and tipped away a pass intended for Harrison at the goal line. Then Vanden Bosch sacked Manning on third down, forcing the punt.

"We were trying to get a touchdown and put the game out of reach," Manning said. "We didn't do as good a job as we wanted of running the clock."

Young, who looked so poised in becoming the first rookie quarterback to lead two comebacks of 14 points or more in 2006, finally showed his youth.

He stopped a drive just before halftime when flagged for taunting after running out of bounds, and Manning drove the Colts to a field goal after getting the ball back.

The Titans had 98 seconds left and needed a field goal to win and improve to 2-0 for the first time since 1999. Young was sacked on the first play. He overthrew Brandon Jones on third down, then the Colts collapsed around Young on fourth down and he fumbled.

Left guard Jacob Bell grabbed the ball for the Titans, but that was it.

"We fought hard. We played well. We just didn't finish it," Young said.

The thing that killed me was the tipped field goal that hit the crossbar and then still rolled in. That was the difference in this game. The Colts however did come to Tenn and win though so I give them that. The Titans will beat them in Indy though. Mark this post.

Stroud suspended four games for banned substance; Naeole on IR

The NFL announced Tuesday that Jacksonville Jaguars defensive tackle Marcus Stroud has been suspended without pay for four games for violating the NFL Policy on Anabolic Steroids and Related Substances.

Stroud's suspension begins immediately, according to a statement released by the league. He is eligible to return to the Jaguars' active roster on Monday, Dec. 3, following the team's game the previous day against the Indianapolis Colts.

Stroud, a three-time Pro Bowl tackle who has 29 tackles and three sacks, has started all eight games for Jacksonville this season.

The Jaguars made several roster moves on Tuesday. Veteran guard Chris Naeole was placed on injured reserve, while offensive lineman Tutan Reyes and linebackers Jorge Cordova and Roy Manning were re-signed. Linebacker Justin Durant was placed on the Reserve/Suspended List.

Naeole, 32, suffered a torn quadriceps tendon during the first quarter of Sunday's loss to New Orleans. The 11th year veteran had started all eight games this season at right guard and had started 87 games for the Jaguars since signing as an unrestricted free agent in 2002.

Bye Stroud we'll miss you next week! LOL

Kansas City Chief Larry Johnson Out for Season

KANSAS CITY -- Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is out for the season.
This was confirmed by a source within the Chiefs organization with direct knowledge of the situation.

According to the Chiefs initially, Johnson had suffered a mid-foot sprain in the fourth quarter of last Sunday's 33-22 loss to the Packers.

However Anderson has learned that Johnson has a broken bone in the left foot.

So far this season Johnson has rushed 158 times for 559 yards.

That total has had Johnson ranked 14th in the league-just behind Travis Henry who’s 13th with 580 yards.

While this injury is bad news for Johnson, it’s a bright spot for the Broncos who’s last ranked rush defense who won’t have to face him.

Yeah I don't get that. People can speculate about the past all they want, theres no way they are putting asterisks in the past anyways, but realistically they were probably never even able to use what they got since they were caught at the half. Thats what he wants an asterisk for? I don't care if he is the best coach that ever lived, that doesn't make sense. They haven't been able to use it from the second half of the 1st game of the season, everything they have done this year is clean of Spygate. I don't see how that equals in his eyes that this season is tainted and deserves an asterisk if they were to go 19-0.

I've watched this team for many years, living 2 hours from Ford Field.

And I've gotta say, they look pretty boss. Beating the Bears, no matter their record at the time, in Soldier Field is a pretty tough task, and sweeping them in the process.

If they get past the Pack, they could be a dark horse in the NFC.

That is what they need to do. Anybody saying Kolb, a rookie whose never played a snap in his life, is gonna do better then a guy with 90 qb rating; is outta their mind.

90 rating with crap wide outs. The eagles management needs to fix that. Some potential guys i would look at:

-Santana Moss: speedster who can run deep which is what McNabb needs
-Chad Jackson: fast and big, young with T.O. type body
-Brandon Marshall: fast and young
-Bryant Johnson: fast and huge, free agent
-David Patten: putting up great numbers in new orleans, free agent

Draft DeSean Jackson, or Mario Manningham if Jackson is taken.

Or better yet, send a message. SHOW the NFL and everyone else your dedicated to giving yourselves a godo team and get a BIG name; a huge name even, same way they did with T.O.

Trade for a guy like Chad Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald, Steve Smith...do something.

whats with all the hate on laurence maroney?

This guy seems to be getting a lot of flack, but let me explain something about him.

He is averaging 4.7 yards a carry; so honestly what more can you ask for?

But in reguards to this complaint I just saw on tv as to why he has no big plays...I don't get it. Isn't the answer obvious?

With 3 great recievers, where are the defenders? Are they up on the line or are they back in coverage?

Whenever Maroney gets his 5-6 yards upfront, he still has yet to meet the linebackers, corners, and safeties, as they all drop back in coverage. So getting big gains for Maroney (who was 10th in the NFL in 20 yard runs last year) is going to be pretty hard as long as they still have such a viscous passing game.

Big runs come when the back is only 6-7 yards from the line of scrimmage but is already past the defense; when the defense knows the run is coming but you get threw it and there is nothing to stop them.

With Maroney; there is always 2-3 guys to stop him even if he is 15 yards down field, just becuase they are down there to prevent the 50 yard bomb to Moss or Stallworth.

Jerry!
11-06-2007, 10:40 PM
He is probably the perfect back for the Patriots, he is good, but not to a point where his talent would be wasted because the Patriots have such a great passing game.

Psh. Maroney is very good; his talent is without doubt being wasted. Last year he ws 10th in the league in the NFL in 20 yard rushes; this year has none. He is great with screens, which we saw last week; but he has 2 catches all year. I mean this is what I find very impressive about him; what I love right now; games like last week.

75 yards on 14 carries; 5.3 average; with a long of 13. There is no huge gain that inflates the average; ge gets litteraly 4-6 yards on almost EVERY carry. Its not say a 3 yard run, 4 yarder, - 2 yarder, 25 yard gain...it's consistent.

Thats how you know that; when he is doing this kind of stuff without the big plays; that he's got it. Last week he had 112 total yards on just 16 touches against the Redskins defense.

Maybe to show himself off he should go to another team where hell get 5-6 passes a game and 20+ carries every game; because that will never happen here. That said; the talent is there; and you gotta think soone ror later he'll have that huge game to make everybody shut up.

http://www.titansonline.com/news/newsmain_detail.php?PRKey=5275

NASHVILLE, TN, Nov. 6, 2007 — The Tennessee Titans added some depth at defensive tackle Tuesday by signing Demetrin Veal.
The Titans had only Albert Haynesworth, Tony Brown and Randy Starks at defensive tackle after veteran Corey Simon decided to retire Oct. 25.
But Haynesworth strained his right hamstring late in Sunday's 20-7 win over Carolina, and even though he expects to play, the Titans (6-2) decided to add depth before Sunday's game against Jacksonville (5-3).
The 6-foot-2, 288-pound Veal has played in 34 NFL games over four seasons with 76 tackles, 2½ sacks, a fumble recovery and a safety. He spent the past two seasons in Denver and played in all 16 games with the Broncos in 2006.
In college, Veal played both end and tackle at Tennessee. He was a seventh-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2003 and played in three games for the Falcons. He was released after the 2004 training camp.
Running back Quinton Ganther had been released on Monday

Also some more news/stats:

Impressive stat: The Titans have not given up a touchdown after any of their 19 turnovers.

"That is not a stat you like to brag about because you turn the ball over too much," Fisher said. "But when it happens, to be able to keep winning you have to overcome those things.''

Workout: Defensive tackle Kenderick Allen, a 6-5, 330-pounder who's spent time with the Bengals, Packers, Giants and Saints, worked out for the Titans on Monday.

I have breaking news!!!!!!!

Pats activated speedy 2nd year reciver Chad Jackson today. Jackson, the 36th pick overall last year, was a stand out wide reciever at Florida. Despite being hamped by injury, he did score touchdowns on 3 of his 13 catches last season. With an Terrel Owens like body and Moss type speed, this is just yet another reciever weapon the Patriots have to work with.

come on C-jac aka Big Play; lets get yuor **** together!

Geesh, enough with these stupid first letter-half last name nicknames :whatever:

The Pats have been a good team and will continue to be next year , there isnt any doubt about that . The other teams will figure out a way to beat them so i wouldnt expect a perfect season next year but they will remain contenders for the superbowl and will be the team to beat.

I Don't think they will be trash next year, may it be as good? who knows, but they will still be a force. Right now, i'm not really bothered about next year, I just want to see history get made, thus meaning the only thing keeping the 72 Dolphins alive will be ripped away.....................old people suck.

So the Patriots traded for San Fran's number 1 draft pick? Gotta give it to them for spitting in the face of their punishment.

The Pats got San Francisco's pick on draft day when San Fran moved up to get back into the 1st Round.

But now with the Niners tanking, the Patriots could end up with a top 5 pick.

Patriots can't keep this run up even if SF is a top ten pick... If I were them I'd trade it... they will soon need to replace the linebackers and replenish the rest of their front seven. Plus they have to resign Asante but knowing them... they will probably let him walk... same with Moss when he wants an extension... best receiver in football and he is making what? 2 million? I think they overspent on Stallworth too... plus I have no idea what the contract situations are for their D and O lines but it will be pricey to keep the major components... there is no way they will have the cap to fit everyone in. They should trade the pick or draft a shut down corner.

Maybe someone will take a pay cut. Didn't someone do that before with the Patriots?

can you imagine if the pats picked up Brandon Meriweathers miami partner , Safety Kenny Phillips

Kenny Phillips came to Miami with the expectations of being the next study safety from the U. Early on he showed that those lofty expectations were valid. He was on everyone’s Freshman All American lists after finishing the year with 88 tackles, three for loss and an interception. As a sophomore, he stepped his game up even more, finishing with 71 tackles, six for loss, and four interceptions despite missing the final three games with a broken thumb.

Phillips has it all. From a physical standpoint, he has everything you want. He has excellent size and can match up with just about anyone in coverage. He also possesses the athleticism, quickness, and speed to fly around the field making plays. He is aggressive, active, and willing to do whatever it takes to get to the football. Phillips is a complete safety as he can attack the line of scrimmage in run support and make plays on the football in coverage. He has also earned All ACC honors for his success in the classroom, so he is getting it done off the field as well.

There is not much to dislike about Phillips’ game. He is a rare safety that can do it all and is a legit Top 10 pick. If you want to pick things apart, he can go for the big hit a little too often instead of making the safe play.

If Phillips declares this season, he is in all likelihood a Top 10 pick. He is a playmaker in the secondary, and has all the skills to develop into a perennial pro bowler.

The guy is a hybrid of Sean Taylor and Ed Reed

Because he's in Philly. When you win in Philly, you're God. When you lose, we run you out of town.

Question. Which team do you think will get a full make over?

At the beginning of the season, I'd have said Cleveland. But I doubt it now. Same with Washington. They seemed like a good choice earlier in the year, but now, not so much (though in all fairness, they don't seem like they can compete with major teams...still, just one big player and all of that can change, so a full makeover is unlikely)

Miami or San Fran seem like good choices. Though I imagine San Fran's will simply be on the coaching end since they have decent talent. A different QB is likely too. St. Lous is another good choice.
