Report: Parcells, Dolphins nearing accord
The Miami Herald reports Bill Parcells and the Dolphins are "entering the final stages" of talks to make him a member of the organization's front office.
One source told the Palm Beach Post that he'll become the Dolphins' new vice president of football operations. The Dolphins have publicly declined comment on the matter to this point. We suspect bringing Parcells aboard doesn't bode well for head coach Cam Cameron's chances of hanging around. Dec. 19 - 4:38 pm et
Source: Miami Herald
Which begs the question: Does Miami realize how many Dolphins are killed every year when bulk fishing for Tuna?
….Ba-duh-bump
Wonder if Huizenga is luring Parcells his way by offering a portion of the team? He's trying to sell it off piece-by-piece as we speak.

How could Jessica Simpson be a distraction to a professional football player in a pivotal NFL game. I don't understand what type of distraction she would serve.
http://www.solarnavigator.net/music/music_images/jessica_simpson_hot_and_wet.jpg
[This answer your question?? :woot:
But seriously.....Simpson is just an excuse! Romo stunk up the Buffalo game too. Was he dating her then? Is he handing the football to her? Is she blocking at left tackle?? Is she dropping passes! NO!!
I've heard of a lot of lame excuses. but to blame a girl in the stands for your team stinking up the field is just low! Plus he injured his thumb!!
This guy can date who he wants! Is there any wonder why relationships between celebs have such a hard time??
I was wondering when the real T.O. would show up.

Actually, I'm not sure anyone thinks its a focus thing, as much as a curse thing......on the Dallas radio stations its just the "Curse of the Blonds" back when he and Jessica were rumored before, he stunk in the game she attended.....he had another one of his very worst games with Carrie......and now this one......
So its more a silly curse.....than her actually taking his focus off the game....

But the Boys could've helped themselves by running the ball every once in awhile. :o

No doubt. There is no reason the Cowboys should have lost that game. Although that Eagles defense is tough, the Cowboys are the top team in the NFC.
I do like how after one fluke loss most "experts" are jumping back on the Packers' bandwagon.

So Romo can't perform on the field when Jessica is around, so I guess we know how he is in the bedroom when they are together.

What did he say?
Terrell Owens says he's got a "message" for Jessica Simpson when the Cowboys make the playoffs, so "just stay tuned."
"Right now, Jessica Simpson is not a fan favorite in this locker room or in Texas Stadium," T.O. said. "I think with everything that has happened, and obviously the way Tony (Romo) played and the comparison between her and Carrie Underwood, I think a lot of people feel like she's probably taking his focus away. Other than that, she was at the top of my list until last week."

Parcells is almost certain to land in Miami after Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga sent word Wednesday to Parcells that he has decided not to sell the team, sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Len Pasquarelli.
Parcells has a four-year agreement in place to become the Dolphins' vice president of football operations -- the identical role he had negotiated with Blank, a Dolphins source said. Parcells is expected to sign a contract in the next 48 hours, and sources say it's unlikely to fall through as it did with the Falcons.
The Dolphins and Parcells had dialogue almost two weeks ago about the job, but the deal was put on ice when Huizenga seriously entertained offers for the sale of his franchise, sources said. Huizenga has assured Parcells that he will remain in control of the team, according to a Dolphins official. That was the dramatic development that altered his course with Atlanta.

Who else wants to see the Steelers get beat by the Rams?
I know I do...since the AFC North was created when they redid the divisions, the Browns are the only team to not win the North. The Steelers and Ravens have been the most frequent winners of it, but the year that PIT won the SB, the Bengals won the division.
I want the Browns to finally be AFC North Division Champs...even if that means playing the Jags in the 1st round.

That doesn't mean anything. The Ravens have the 6th best defense in the league and they have lost 8 in a row.
The Jags have a good defense cause they can stop the run, not the pass. Something Cleveland is very good at.

Baltimore had a good offense with McNair. Having 3 starting QB's in a season messes up a team and it's momentum.
At this point the Browns are best off playing the Jags @ Cleveland if they can win the divison. They don't want to travel to San Deigo where the Chargers been playing red hot as of latley.

He got injured week 1 which caused him to sit out the next two games. He then went on to play 5 more games untill they decided to put Boller in. While McNair didn't play well last season, he kept his team in the game. With a healthy McNair and a healthy defense they could have contended with the Browns and Steelers.

Offense is spelled with an s not a c.
The Ravens offense isn't going to be good when Kyle Boller is running it. McNair in 5 games this season threw for over 1,000yds. It's taken Boller around half that time to achieve. It's obvious McNair(WHEN HEALTHY!!) is a better QB for the Ravens. And Yes, the Jags are the better team on offense than the Ravens. The Jags haven't had the injuries like the Ravens had this season though.

The Jags were very protective when Quinn Gray came in as QB. I think they ran the ball more rather than pass with a brand new QB. I don't believe Fred Taylor was injured at all this season. Even if he was, they still have Maurice Jones-Drew.

If the defense can hold the other team to under 21 points (most pro coaches will say 14--17 to be safe), the offense can win the game........if the offense doesn't make the 22+ points it doesn't matter how good the defense is.....they can be 1st in the league, but if the offense doesn't score more than 6 points, they are not going to win the game.....hell Dallas' defense held the Eagles just fine....they still lost the damn game. AND IT WASN'T BECAUSE OF JESSICA SIMPSON, THAT IS JUST THE STUPID DALLAS RADIO STATIONS BEING IDIOTS.....I think TO's thoughts are....EVERYONE NEEDS TO SHUT UP ABOUT IT, AND IF THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN EVERY GAME THAT SHE COMES TO AND Romo, THROWS AN INTERCEPTION AND ITS BLAMED ON HER..................IT WILL BECOME A DISTRACTION TO HIM......This is not the time for stupid distractions whether they are founded or not.........

Parcells signs four-year deal with Dolphins
Bill Parcells signed a four-year contract Thursday to become Miami's executive vice president of football operations.
No backing out now. Parcells will finish out his duties at ESPN through the regular season while most Dolphins staffers wonder if they will get fired come the New Year. Parcells can now match wits in the AFC East with his son-in-law Scott Pioli, along with Bill Belichick and Eric Mangini. Maybe he can bring back Nick Saban to coach the team. Dec. 20 - 10:44 am et

ESPN reports Bill Parcells will sign a four-year contract to become the Dolphins' vice president of football operations.
Owner Wayne Huizenga reportedly is no longer interested in selling the franchise, which was a big development for the Tuna. Parcells may have been using the Falcons to up his price tag with Miami or increase control. He is likely to be making final personnel decisions, so don't look for a veteran name in the GM spot. High profile coordinators with Parcells connections include Patriots OC Josh McDaniels, Cowboys OC Jason Garrett, and Falcons DC Mike Zimmer. Dec. 19 - 6:45 pm et

If Cincinatti wins this weekend...The Titans control their own destiny. :) The Titans have to win out though. First up is the Jets in Tennessee. Next up is Indy who has already secured the #2 seed. Considering how physical and punishing the Titans defense is I wonder how long Indy would risk putting their key players out there. Hell look what happened to Pittsburgh...but they had to win. LOL

Heath Miller > Dallas Clark and he got passed over. As long as Tony Gonzalez is in the AFC you will see deserving tight ends get passed over simply because the man is a living legend, that realistically no other tight end can compete with and there are only two TE spots on the pro-bowl. I mean, look at the guy's stats. 971 yards...for a TIGHT END! Thats crazy good.
witten is in the nfc....clark is in the afc.....
Yep, Witten is pretty much the only tight end in the NFL who can compete with Gonzalez and they are in different divisions.

I'm kinda worried about the 'Boys in the playoffs.
They did look a little off tonight, but I think part of it was the gameplan was cleary going to T.O. (and running the ball) Once T.O. went down they had to dump the whole thing and try to adjust, and didn't do too well. Passing anyway, Barber looked great.
I think if Terry Glenn is able to play, and be at least 85-90% of what he was, that'd help a lot. Not much depth at WR. Hurd is just...ok.

I think I would take Witten over Clark.
Clark is probably the only tight end that can play split to the outside....in the slot and the back field. He does it all. Witten does not. And with Marvin out, he's had another killer year. I don't get it. It's always Gates and Gonzalez. Even if they are on stank teams.

And with another post, Celldog shows his stupidity. Always Gates? Really? Yeah, thats true. I guess I might want the BETTER TE. Check out their stats. Gates wins easily over the past 3 years in every major category. Also, who was there at the rise of their team, and not put into an already great situation. Gates helped make SD a perennial contender.

no, will be beasts in the NFL. Vince Young is already good anyways, he has the most god aweful recievers. Just wait for this guy to get a legit #1 this off season, big things a pop!
As for Bush...next years will be the year of Bush. Look for an average of 150 all purpose yards a game....85 rush/65 receiving...he wont do it every game, itll be like.
week 1: 15 carries, 55 yards yards, 45 recieving yards
week 2: 16 carries, 63 yards, 95 recieving yards (long of 55-60)
week 3: 16 carries, 150 yards (long of 70), 45 recieving yards
Itll be his usual under achieving self 99% of the time, but these huge plays will make his stats look suh-weet. This years struggles were the wake call he needed; he needed that sort of doubt to put that chip on his shoulder that he played with in high school and college.
Laurence Maroney: break RUNINNG back of next season...i expect minimum of 1200 yards minimum of 4.7 a carry minimum of 12 touchdowns
Santonio Holmes: mega breakout next season...1400+ recieving yards, 10-12 touchdowns.
Ronnie Brown: should be first overall pick ahead of AD unless Cam Cameron leave;s if he does draft whatever running bakc cameron is coaching.
Jerry!

OK so you basically destroyed your own argument about Bush by saying he will be his usual under achieving self and that his big plays will just make him look better than he is. Thanks, you did the work for me.
...thats how every good running back is, big plays make them look good. 10 striaght carries of 2 yards has you at 10 carries for 20 yards, a 2.0 ypc. Then bust off a big 45 one and you 65 on 11, near 6 yards a carry. On paper, 6 ypc is amazing...but how did those 10 other carries help his team?
Thats why I love Maroney btw...guy will average 4-4.5 without any big plays at all...just wait till they start coming and his "bad" carires are the ones that only go for 4-4.5
Thats how Bush will. Its how Marshall Faulk, Barry Sanders, Terrell Davis did.
LT seasonal average was 5.2 a carry last year. Stop the big play and they look aweful. AD is like that. Addai is like that. So yeah, big plays make them look better and more effiectient then they are on paper. Take away LTs longs of the every game away and here are his stats:
1815 yards - 545 = 1280 yards
348 carries - 16 = 332.
His yards per carry drops from 5.2 to 3.7.
Big plays inflate every running back, just becuase theyll do the same for Bush doesnt mean you can single him and say he aint that good.
Mister J
12-23-2007, 01:07 PM
Bush is just an average back who has some versatility out of the backfield. When he figures out he's not in college anymore and can't dance around and try to bounce everything outside all day, he'll be better off. For the opportunity he received in being the featured back when Deuce went down, I didn't see jack **** this year that should get him mentioned along side elite backs.

Decent is nowhere near elite and certainly doesn't invoke comparisons to backs who play at a higher level. His ability as a receiver is the only thing that makes it worthwhile to have him on the field at all. He's been nothing special as a runner. Aaron Stecker has put up 195 yards on the ground in the two games he's started since Bush went down (with a respectable 9 receptions for 53 yards).

Great to see the Pats improve to 15-0. Even though I am a Patriots fan, my fear is that they'll finish the season undefeated and get embarassed in the playoffs. In any event I hope for them to become the first team to finish the season undefeated and win the Super Bowl undefeated.

The last thing any Cowboy fan wants to see is Joe Gibbs and the Skins coming into town for a playoff game and biting us in the fanny. I think the Browns will pull it off next week. Tennessee will be fighting for their lives, and with Indy resting their starters it will be close. The Browns should beat the 49ers. All they need to do is stop the run because the Niners have one of the worst passing offenses. The Browns however have one of the worst pass defenses. Browns win this cause they're at home.

The "one-win" Dolphins held the Pats to 28 points???? At Foxboro? Is this glass half empty or half full???? I know a win is a win. But there's something wrong here.
They Dolphins were never in the game. The Patriots were up 28-0 at the half. During the 2nd Half you could tell Brady was trying to force it to Moss so they could both break the record at Gillette. If you want to call a 28-7 win and 15-0 record something wrong, then the Colts have alot wrong with them.

So if the Pats were suppose to win by 22 against a one-win team, you're saying they did it on purpose? They've been blowing up point spreads all season.
I think they are getting tired.
I think you're looking for things to make yourself feel better about the Colts chances of coming into Gillette and beating the Patriots. :cwink:

THe only thing I am concerned about is Brady and Moss pressing for the records... maybe Brady forces a couple of throws to Moss to make something happen... Brady will probably have a couple of picks in this game... but they'll be fine if they stick to the run and the dinks and dunks. Eli won't be able to move the ball for a lick on this D.

I think the Titans are gonna fall short here... Manning will give them an early lead in this ball game... and if its still a one score game... he'll probably be playing in the second half... Titans only chance is if they have a 9+ point advantage midway through the third... then the Colts will probably pull their starters out. But even the Colts backups are just too fast... Young will turn it over. I could see the TItans winning it late if the Colts just say "Ah **** it..." I don't know man... it's gonna be tight... that's all I know.

Yeah just like we did in the preseason... and after week one when all you Titan fans penciled them in as the number two team in the division... that was what? Four months ago? But I haven't really underestimated them since... I didn't think they'd be a playoff team... but I didn't think the Bengals and Jets would stink it up like they have this year. The sixth seed in the AFC is irrelevant... either team getting blown out in San Diego anyway. I guess I'll give them a prayer in Pitt.

It doesn't matter if we lose...all that matters is the Titans. If they lose, we are in regardless if we beat SF or not.
Has Dungy said if he is resting people yet?
Will my Browns get into the playoffs now?

What concerns me about the Titans is Vince Young will start throwing his lame ducks in the air for anybody to grab and his inability to hold on to the damn ball when gets sacked or starts scrambling. The guy just does not have a big time reciever that can get them. If they can beat the Colts second stringers to get in I think they can give the Chargers a fairly competitive game.

yall heard it first, remeber next season that EXCEL told you...adrian peterson is gonna one of the most dissappointing sophmore seaspns ever. hell pick up next year right wheres ending this one - sucking.
ad's performance this lost my opponents week infantasy while maroney saved mine
you take away the big play, petersons done. maroney isnt like that. Take away his 2 200 yard games and here are his numbers:
785 yards on 177 carries for 4.4 yards a carry. Take away the big play, and hes nothing, and teams have figured out that since his 296 yard day.
He will be by far the biggest fantasy bust of next season while Laurence Maroney, Ronnie Brown (if Cameron stays) and Reggie Bush will be people everyone forgets about who will clean up.

We really blew it...since I think the Titans will not lose to basically the mostly 2nd string Colts, we have no one to blame but ourselves :csad:
We showed up too late in the games vs. Oakland (went down 16-0 early- lost by 2, Arizona (gave them 2 early TDs- lost by 6 points), and Cincy (gave them 19-0 lead- lost by 5)
We can only blame ourselves :csad:
I am proud of the team overall though...no one saw a 9-7 or 10-6 year for the Browns...I am just gonna be sad if/when our hard work is not rewarded by going to the playoffs (though we did lose the spot).

No, Maroney isnt close to being bust of the season, that honor belongs to Cedric Benson who has 110 less yards on 20 more carries then Maroney  2nd is Shaun Alexander, 3rd is Deshaun Foster.
All those guys flat out just played aweful. Maroney has def. produced when in the given the chance to. His 4.8 ypc is 7th in the NFL amongst people with as many carries as him.

Hey... you get the better draft pick if worst comes to worst... not that the Titans and Browns have the same needs but still... I understand the excitement a passionate fan base may have for their team finally getting to the post season after a long layoff... and sure its good to be happy for being in the dance at the very least... but the Browns aren't even close right now... the AFC probably has the top three teams in the entire NFL right now. By 2010 though... I think the Browns/Titans/Broncos could move into those 1/2 positions in the AFC. I am not sold on Anderson though but I think he can be a franchise QB... though you HAVE to trade him if you can get back into the first round and stockpile draft picks. Or deal Quinn but no one will trade a 1st round pick for him.
