I don't want to see the Pats win a championship one way or another. I'd love to see Favre beat 'em in the Super Bowl, but we'll see. Chargers are giving them a good push right now.

Think Billy "Victory" Volek could improve their chances?
I agree about stepping up. He's just flat.
Mister J
01-20-2008, 04:28 PM
Rivers should stay in as long as he can go. They've moved the ball decently, despite what appears to be his limitations, and could screw things up with a switch.
If their red zone playcalling was worth anything, I probably wouldn't even noticed Rivers flat delivery right now.

Neither team is looking good. Other than Maroney in second half, neither team has impressed me one bit. Still rooting for the Chargers, but Kaeding can't win the game on his own. If Rivers was healthier and could step into his throws I think this would be a different game.
Final Night
01-20-2008, 04:30 PM
I just wonder if Volek should have started the game. My judgment could be clouded though. Out of the quarterbacks from that draft (Eli, Rivers, & Big Ben) I thought from the get go that Rivers was the weakest.

Thats the thing I would not trust Volek in this situation, but Rivers cant step in to his throws, if Pats score would you take a cahnce on Volek or leave it

I don't think I'd make a switch now, but if Volek had started the game or Rivers had to come out, I think he could do it.

This game should be over with now. You can't go down by two scores in New England and expect to win. I just hope I'm wrong.
Mister J

SD has to respond with a score here, preferably a TD. You can't give New England the ball back, down by 9, with their running game picking up.

Pats are letting the Chargers hang around, and give credit to the SD defense. But they are going to need some touchdowns from their offense, they cant keep settling for FG's and turning the ball over.

Irsay says he might not hear from Dungy until late Sunday or early Monday morning. The team is expected to announce Dungy's intentions by Monday afternoon. It's widely believed that Dungy will retire.

Smart man.
San Diego did not have all their weapons today but they played extremely courageous the entire game. Rivers impressed me. The Bolts defense really had Brady confused and were covering the receivers tight. I think Maroney stepped it up and was the usung hero of the game. In regards to the Patriots defense, they were fourth in points allowed this season, and they didn't give up a TD.

Nah I'm alright. I'm not a fan of either team it's just that the Chargers could've won today if they put TD's instead of FG. I know that's easier said than done but when they finally got into the redzone they seemed to play way to conservative IMO. Their defense got 3 INT and the offense could only get FG. That is not how you beat the Patriots. And once again LT is a ***** for not playing, he needed to man up and play

Awesome game it was extremely cold but worth it Koolaid rushed for over 100 in the 2nd half :wow:
Faulk had a great game and I feel bad for Randy, they were swarming himas if he had the ball it seemed every play. Horrendous play calling first half, but whatever. Yall wanna know why Brady has 3 picks; cause they were in the red zone and had NO running back in. Everyone just dropped back into coverage. At least have Maroney on the freaking field so they cant just tee off on the reciver :down
Excel will be loving this drive, his boy Maroney is chewing up yards.
Oh hell yeah. First half was ugly, the offensive did an aweful job but the 2nd half they held up ok and Maroney pretty much danced and weaved his way around em. He's got great balance and a perfect mix of speed and power, Sean Salsbury nailed it when he said Maroney is much younger Larry Johnson.
Speaking of Maroney, I got there qaround 10:30 to set up a tailgate and parked at the first place I could find; the "Americas Best Value Inn" so we had a long wlak but no traffic when we left. Anyways, my 3 friends, wife, and I are walking with a group of others towards Gillete when a car goes by, strangely enough heading away from the stadium when the man himself LAURENCE MARONEY drove by in a car (he was a passenger) and yelled "GO PATRIOTS!" at the crowd walking! We didnt know if it was Donte, Asante, Meriweather (who had a nasty 3rd n 1 tackle-told ya Im driving the bandwagon on thi skid) but a group ahead said he drove by n did the same thing and it was Maroney.
Been saying it ALL year; there was way too many people writing this kid off. Yall taking **** to me bout how I think he good, saying Im stupid where those words now????
As long as Maroney is on the Patriots, he will never achieve the status that Peterson has already achieved, not to mention he is a level below Peterson.
Maroney was the bust of the year THIS year(Rudi and LJ right behind), and I don't see that changing.
Thats just the tip of the iceberg. Just sayin dont act surprised when he wins MVP of Super Bowel in 2 weeks ;)
