Iron Man and Hulk Licensees Revealed

Source: Brandweek (http://www.brandweek.com/bw/magazine/columns/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003550005)
February 26, 2007

Brandweek (http://www.brandweek.com/bw/magazine/columns/article_display.jsp?vnu_content_id=1003550005) has published a new article talking about the licensees for Marvel Studios' Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk. Here's the rundownhttp://images.intellitxt.com/ast/inline_icons/mag-glass_10x10.gif (http://www.superherohype.com/news/topnews.php?id=5254#) of licensees so far:

Iron Man and Incredible Hulk licensees include Hasbro (master toy licensee), Hallmark (social expressions and party goods), Kids Headquarters (boys & girls apparel), Jay Franco (domestics), Mad Engine (T-shirts), Fruit of the Loom (underwear), Disguise (costumes), BBC (footwear), Berkshire (headwear and cold weather), Mega Bloks (construction toys) and Jakks Pacific (plug & play games), AME (sleepwear), Sideshow (collectibles), FAB (back-to-school & arts and crafts) and MGA (die-cast vehicles). Marvel is looking to add partners in other key licensing categories, such as food & beverages, consumer electronics and publishing. Licensees were given a directive to incorporate innovation into their products and urged to view their creations as components of a collection, not one-off items. Transformation also is a key element of both properties.

Note from AD: I cannot wait for an updated Sideshow Collectible Comiquette. The last one was simply amazing. The video game should be a blast too. Tony Stark is gonna be famous. :)

Atlanta Cutlery Corp. & Museum Replicas Ltd. to Produce Marvel Character-Based Prop Collectible Products

Atlanta Cutlery Corp & Museum Replicas Ltd. named prop collectibles licensee for the Marvel Universe throughout North America.

Conyers, GA (PRWEB) May 4, 2007 -- Atlanta Cutlery Corp. (ACC) & Museum Replicas Ltd. (MRL) announced today that they have entered into a multi-year license agreement with Marvel Entertainment Inc. for prop collectibles throughout North America. The agreement covers multiple characters from the Marvel Universe, including specific props from the previously released X-Men movies and the upcoming Iron Man film currently in production.

New product is set to roll out in conjunction with Marvel releases beginning late summer 2007. Waves of props will be released--many for the first time--and timed to the release of Marvel character based movies, DVD's and comics.

The company will develop a range of prop collectibles and specialty products including full-scale helmets, weapons, and other props all inspired by the characters, creatures and themes from the Marvel Universe. This line of products will be marketed under the banner of Windlass Studios, a new division of the company whose primary focus will be the creation of high end licensed collectibles, based upon movies, video games and literary works.

As the Marvel Universe has matured with each new comic, DVD or movie release, so has its audience. The assortment of products being created by ACC/MRL will therefore be geared to appeal to the loyal fans from all generations of the classic comics to the movies of today. Each prop will be meticulously researched with Marvel archival personnel (as well as 20th Century Fox for the X-Men movie props) for absolute realism and authenticity. Characters include Iron Man, Captain America, Blade, Dr. Doom, Submariner, Moon Knight, Mandarin, X-Men, Thanos and Thor. As comic book and movie audiences have become more sophisticated in their reading and viewing tastes, so have the collectors of these higher end collectibles. People are beginning to realize that these pieces are not only purchased for their ever-increasing intrinsic value, but for their aesthetic beauty.

The Marvel Universe Prop Collection can be viewed online at Museum Replicas Ltd or on their sister site Atlanta Cutlery Corp and in person at the Museum Replicas exhibitor booths at San Diego Comic-Con & Atlanta DragonCon 2007.

HELL YEAH!!! I am so at a Toys R Us and snatchin' up all of the figures! Well, the ones that appear in the movie at least...the others are pretty cool but the ones from the actual film are awesome Mach 1,2 and 3 (especially the Tony Stark with removable helment, chest plate and gauntlets) and Iron Monger!

I heard there were two versions of Iron Monger...one regular and one where you can lift up his helment and there is the villain played by Jeff Bridges...Obidiah Stain was it? Either way...Hasbro really came through so it seems, these figures are the cats @$$ for sure! :D

There will be a guest appearance from another Marvel character in Iron Man's video game:

1) Apparently, Hulk is going to be in the Iron Man game (which made very special 2008 list) and vice versa. Also, word is that Edge of Reality has a fallen behind on work on The Incredible Hulk game and alarming amounts of crunching are occurring (when I checked statcounter on Sunday, the Edge of Reality network was under the list of ISPs that had visited, quite disconcerting). We really need to work to diminish the omnipresence of constant crunch in development of movie games, development analogous to that of the film could do wonders. The first glimpse at the game will come within this month.

They list the video game as one to avoid, putting it up there with the LOST videogame though. It may be a general dislike of licensed videogames, or something more.

There's one called "Iron Man : Beneath The Armor" , but I'm not sure if it's a "complete history" of Iron Man, or a making of book, as I saw one with a similar title with the movie Iron Man on the front :yay:

I went to Toys R Us here in Columbus, and found the entire toy line on the selves, I bought the mk1, mk2, mk3 and Iron Monger as well as the superhero squad face-off Iron Man/War Machine vs. Crimson Dynamo/Titanium Man.
They also had the snap-on Iron Man, 12" talking Iron Man, and several other figures, I got there around 4:30 pm and most of the figures were gone, after I picked up my figures a father walked up and grabbed the 12" figure and turned to son and said "look, its IRON MAN!!" and started pushing the buttons, I saw him later buying that figure for his son.
So at least they are out here in the mid-west, I'll be checking Target today.

I've been seeing the figures getting put out in specialty and comic book stores here in Hollywood. Toy Mandala in Sherman Oaks and Things From Another World at City Walk.

They are priced above retail, and they put them out before their April floor date.

The figures overall look pretty good. Likeness for Tony Stark/Iron Man is still bad, but the image on the back of the card looks better. Too bad the final product couldn't have looked as good. 12 Inch one is a pretty nice piece. Too bad RDJ didn't do any of the voicework from what it sounds like though.

i saw the figures in person at toys r us yesterday. pretty weak and $10 for a standard movie tie in figure is lame. poor paint ops, poor articulation, and iffy sculpting.

saveyour money and get the marvel legends 8 modern iron man figure instead opn ebay. 1000x better than this mediocre offering.

The figure's I bought were actually very cool, it's what you would expect for a movie tie series, better than many other offerings in the past, the paint job was very good, not alot of articulation, but these aren't Marvel Legend figure's so wasn't expecting much, and good sculpts, over all a 8 of 10 for the series of figures, definently worth picking up.
