Becuase of that you ask me how old I am. Is that fairness!!???

I've been told to respect other peoples opinions on these boards, I learned that the hard way.. Now it's your turn!!! Stop talking down to me RIGH NOW, you here me buddy!

24? It appears you have far more growing up to do than many of the people quite younger than you.

Are you people blind, Venom transformation hasn't completed yet in that scene? He's not going to be walking around with symbiote strands falling off of him.

Very true, it even said on one of the links I followed not to worry about the look of Venom because he is indeed in mid transformation, and that he won't be looking like that for the rest of his time in the film.

Hey guys I'm a newbie to the forum but I feel that I can help shed some light on the pics..

The Wall/Building is used towards the beginning of the movie where harry in full GG Glory first attacks peter, and tosses him into the side of the building. This also where they have a huge airal fight sequence leading to a chase into an alley where (yes as a previous plot spoiler had reported) Harry is knocked out and Peter saves him and brings him to a hospital.

Gosh I love bringing this stuff back up. :D

Naite look closer, you should go back a few pages for this has all ready been discussed, first off we don't need to know every time with a sound cue when his Sense goes off.

Second, his facial expression does change right before Harry picks him up, his sense does go off, he just seems off in his own world. Look again Naite, unless your watching a horrible blurry version of it, it is easy to see Pete's facial expression does change right before the Gob picks him up.

rofl, STOP ARGUING PEOPLE. and don't make up lies for pete's sake!

his spider-sense should've gone off. it didn't!!

I just watched that part frame by frame, and Peter's expression did not change all the way through.

I finally saw it. Amazing. Really cool aerial battle between peter and harry.

In the end, Venom sfx was better, but in some way it looked like some animated figure.

There was 1 particular shot that caught my intention, Peter web black webbing tied to his hand, struggling to get free. His other hand webbed to a construction pilar. Seems this is going to be a match where Spider-Man and Venom will really match their powers against each others.

and yeah, peter's spider-senses should have gone off... :-)

Of course Sandman will be at the battle royale, thats what the definition of battle royale is, 3 or more fighters. And he looks totally bad@$$, he still has all the stuff from the sewer still in him. I wonder how he gets rid of all that junk. Boy does he look pissed.

Not you too.....it DID go off, keep your attention on Peter's face, when the scene opens he is smiling, but as Harry comes up behind him, the smile fades and his eyebrows raise.

If they had made it a dramatic Spider sense like in the last two it would probably would have taken from the surprise of Harry's attack.

^ Here's one for ya!... what exactly is it that you find fake about MJ's face in that pic? (even though I DO know that it's CG)... Try emagine that that shiny spot on her cheek isn't there! THAT'S what makes it look plastic-like! Look at the rest of her face... There's nothing to complain about!

\S/JcDc\S/
03-06-2007, 12:39 PM
It looks fake in stills. Would like to compare it to motion (animated gif, someone make one!)

Anyways overall I think it looks very good. There are some moments that I'd do differently action wise, but it's just inherently Raimi to do certain things. I mean he comes from the evil dead series so he's always going to want to put a little near slap stick fun in his action.

such as

both are CGI IMO because if you look at motion there is no face movement. but i dont have a problem with this. its about the plastic look. its like we are in 1995 again :csad:

no it didn't you LIAR!

all he did was go from smiling to a normal face mode you'd be in when you're riding a motorcycle down the street. he even has the VERY SAME dull look on his face as harry is grabbing him.

and your so called raised eyebrow was raised all throughout the clip, even when he was smiling.

dramatic spider sense takes away from the suprise of harry's attack? hmmmm, what about the scene in SM2 with the car through the window, did the sense take away? what about the ending of Sm1, did the sense take away? not really.

The question is... Why would you even CGI a shot like that???????????????????????????????????????????? It is not necessary. They could do that shot in front of a green screen with no problem. It's just them swinging.

\S/JcDc\S/
03-06-2007, 12:48 PM
Lol of course it CG. You didn't honestly think KD was actually swinging with Tmags high above the city streets of NY did you? :csad:

Anyway, I wonder where MJ's shoes are? She must have realy been swept of her feet :oldrazz:

Actually, I always thought it was stupid in movies even like Superman where a woman is like a 1000 feet in the air. Moving at an incredibly high speed and somehow her shoes stayed on. Like they are superglued

You know I"ve been on numerous movie boards since around 97, and no matter what, people ALWAYS gripe about the SFX, no matter what, no one can ever be pleased. And you rarley are.

The reason you are noticing things like this is BECAUSE YOU WANT TO NOTICE THEM!!!

When people want to find flaws in something they will put all their effort into doing so.

Of the numerous hundreds of movie boards I've been on people just always complain about it.

Also dark_b this may not be the final final footage, it is nearing March, but that does not mean that they did not just take the CES footage that was constructed back in December and threw it back up, Just wait until the movie comes out that you can complain till your hearts content, or enjoy it like normal people do. But I doubt that will happen.

\S/JcDc\S/

Final footage or not, if the scene itself is great... Hell if the CG is subpar average non groundbreaking... etc

It WON'T matter. The story/action isn't serving the CG, the CG is serving the story/action. As long as the core is good, few are going to care about average CG imo.

Like in SR for example... I was never taken out of the movie from average CG shots, infact I never really noticed when it was CG  Just enjoyed the movie for what it is. :o

Man dark b Iam sorry but I don't think MJ's face i nthat shot looks plastic at all, sure it doesn't have movement but should it nescessarily, I mean the skin looks like skin to me not cg, tobey on the other hand looks very just how would I say it, just pasted there there's no emotion in his face and he's the one doing the swinging. But the movement looks realistic though.

no it didn't you LIAR!

all he did was go from smiling to a normal face mode you'd be in when you're riding a motorcycle down the street. he even has the VERY SAME dull look on his face as harry is grabbing him.

and your so called raised eyebrow was raised all throughout the clip, even when he was smiling.

dramatic spider sense takes away from the suprise of harry's attack? hmmmm, what about the scene in SM2 with the car through the window, did the sense take away? what about the ending of Sm1, did the sense take away? not really.

Ok... wtf, go sit in the corner...

You clearly, and I mean clearly see a smile on his face, and the closer Harry gets you see the smile change unto he "Spider Sense" face.

You are just looking for something to whine and complain about, just like it was predicted. People even after seeing something awesome still have to talk it down or be in denile.

Also- remember that these shots are not completely finished.... I even saw MAJOR differences between recent trailer/clips effects in Ghost Rider vs. the final product on the big screen.

I don't know why that is, but it's just something I noticed.

So, what that tells me is that they put together these videos and then continue to work on it- meaning, this vid may have been made twenty days or more ago. Sony gave a vid creator the clips, then they had to put it all together, finish up a couple of other aspects in it- you don't think this is just throwing together clips do you? There's editing involved. Then send it to NBC to be tested and readied to be put online and on Heroes.

In short, all of these processes takes time apparently, that's what the whole Ghost Rider scenario showed me- at least-

That's not to say that all of the effects are not finished... the finished effect that is completely finished (I would assume) is the fight between Peter and Harry while the shots at the end are QUICKLY edited together.... thrown together epic action movements to be shown in QUICK order... why that quickness? Not many are as obsessive as we are who will go down to miliseconds-

what were your favorite parts of the clip?

the scene between MJ and peter and with may and peter reassured me that this movie DOES have a good story, and raimi didn't just make it an action fest. the acting was superb, the chemistry, other actors dream of having. it wasn't dull in the least bit, their conversations were engaging and I enjoyed every bit of it.

now for the fight...

the move peter did where he pushed off harry's back with his legs, webbed the top of the building, and while swinging around fired web balls, had my jaw
smack on the floor! i loved how he just changed moods, and was ready to take down this villain, the look on his face was perfect.

the second one was when harry punched right into the building, i loved his facial emotions and angry breathing, and then out of anger, shouted "SHUTUUUUUP!!!" and straight up ripped the wall peter was sticking to right out. then as the wall was falling, he slammed right through it and peter. jaw dropped again.

peter trying to regain his balance while getting punched several times in the air. with each punch from harry sending him flying. jaw dropped again.

harry tossing peter through the windows and him losing the ring and deperately trying to grab it or web it. i loved the little elbow karate chop peter delivered to harry when they were both on the glider. the chop said it all, he was no way in hell going to lose that ring. his little web sling toward the ring to grab it was great.

and the little move with peter webbing and sending one of those razors back at harry, sweetness.

and at the end, when peter jumped down and called out to harry, it felt believeable. you could still sense the anger in his voice, but him calling out his friend's name meant he cared also.

the clip did an excellent job of conveying peter's and harry's powers.

what were your favorite parts of the clip?

Honestly, the Peter/May conversation. It was like something straight out of the comic books. Rosemary Harris is a terrific actress, and that scene was just so warm and touching. Like the scene from SM-2, where she gives him $20 on his birthday, and then breaks down crying over Ben.

Plus, it's good to see that May has landed on her feet, after losing her house in SM-2. Her little apartment looks really nice and cozy.

I also really dug the Peter/MJ scene, too. Great to see them as a couple after all they've been thru to be together.

I found myself watching those two scenes alot more than the Harry fight. Not that I didn't like the fight sequence, though it had it's flaws. I just found the emotional character stuff more engaging.

It's one of the reasons I enjoy SM-2 more than the first. It's filled with great emotional character development like that.

what were your favorite parts of the clip?

To me it's easily the moment just after Peter loses the ring. Where he webs Harry's mask, then elbows him, and chucks him off of the glider. Then he frickin' uses two web lines to slingshot himself toward the falling ring from where he's standing on the glider. Instantly, the glider detects either that noone is standing on it anymore, or that Harry's a certain distance from it, the green lights turn red, and it automatically jets after Harry so he can get back on it.

That entire sequence just... I dunno... it's... cool? :)

Spider-Girl™
03-06-2007, 01:33 PM
I also like how the brought realism to Harry not being a perfectionist on his glider. When he stabs the sword down he bobbles around and bounces off a couple walls.

The question is, we've built up Harry seriously over the last movies. And in this one they seem to make him incompetent, but badass nonetheless. Does Raimi want us to take the goblin seriously? Or does he want us to not get too into the goblin side of this movie, but more of a Harry focus?

It's probably already been discussed so I'll just say: Lack of Spider-Sense. Stupid.

I didn't care for the first scene with Peter and MJ on the web. Really cheesey.
But I liked when May gives Peter the ring. That was really well done.
Amazing fight scene, even if the green screen work was pretty poor. I'm sure it will be longer in theaters though.

There's no way Harry is dead right there. They would never give that away. And come on, he's his best friend and a new villain. They aren't gonna kill him off so easily. (Besides, the way dies in the comics is so much more powerful)

So, apparently Sandman becomes that mud-monster thing, as he does in the comic. Only in the comic, it happens because he mixes with Hydro-Man.
Updated Venom shot...WHOA! That is so creepy!

I to loved the peter and Aunt May scene. It really shows how much Aunt May misses uncle ben and it shows how much Aunt May cares for peter which is something these films should have in them. I just feel happy when Aunt May talks about her and uncle ben, it brings back memories from spidey1 and the comics. and this is why I find Aunt May so important, she's an important character and nobody should say she isn't.

Dude.. I got chills when that happened. I still get creeped a little.

Now that was a ****ing mind-blowing clip... That must have been the most jaw-dropping aerial battle ever... Even more than the bank robbery scene in Spidey 2...

I love the scene between May and Peter... It´s bittersweet, even if she doesn´t mean it, a bit of resentment over Ben´s death is still there.

I knew some would say the Peter/MJ scene is too corny or cheesy or whatever... Yeah it is a bit syrupy, but THAT´S THE POINT, these two are living a dream, we all know it can´t last... and the final camera pan, like the web is their sheet, is dang beautiful.

Yeah, he definitely had his spider-sense, albeit for a brief second.
Also, I loved the fight scene. Easily trumps the battle scenes in Spider-Man 2 (which were very impressive) and kept me entertained 10x over.

I absolutely  the updated Goblin theme.
From 3:39 - 3:48 is solid gold.

i am a huge CGI freak. i love watching movies that have a lot of CGI there. i like a lot of movies. i have very low standards when it comes to movies and CGI.

but with all due respect....we are here on a forum. should i writte like naite and spidermanhero12? wooooooow this movie rocks,i love everythinkg,i will like everything.

and let me tell you something: the HD era is comng . so i will now writte it very simple: you will notcie bad and fake CGI 4 times quicker since the footage will be cleaner and f... bigger.
Since you mention ME I feel a need to comment on this... I'm not pleased with all, far from it... but the things YOU are pointing out looks too CG, that's just crazy! If something looks too CG that I've seen of in SM-3, it's the pic that's in the trailer and also in this 7˝ minute clip! The scene where we see Peter ripping off the suit in church where he's screaming and the symbiote is fighting to stay on him, THAT looks CG! But NOT what you're pointing, that's crazy!

The special effects were pretty impressive, I thought. I mean, of course we can tell the CGI effects from the practical, but it's obvious that they've worked very hard to get the CGI figures looking as real as possible.

Just look at the quick shot of giant Sandman rising. Look at the lighting on his left arm/shoulder (the right of the shot). It looks great.

now THAT was the aerial battle that should have been! if they did that in SM1 i would have shamelessly stood up and cheered at the end of the movie. IMO in SM1, if they did that battle exactly as it is in the new clip, but replaced Osbourne Jr. with Osbourne Sr., it would automatically be even cooler because it was the original Goblin doing the a$$ kicking.

Some of the effects shots were temporary in this? That's really good news considering how awesome it looked. The pacing of that fight was seriously amazing, along with how the music complemented the frantic energy of it.

I was thinking some of the motion was a little wonky here and there (like when Peter slams into the wall, it looked like he paused there in the air for half a second unlike the trailer, and I didn't like the second slo mo shot just because it felt out of place, but the first was amazing with the glass and the gasp!!)

It's interesting how Sam Raimi has apparently come to the conclusion that Spider-Man is tough enough to get shoved through a brick wall with no serious injuries. True, Spidey does heal faster than the average person, but since when is he solid enough to bash through bricks when he's thrown into them?

As Aunt May said in SM, "You're not Superman, you know."

I severely doubt it. The script summary has been right in just about every facet, and it says that Venom and Sandman fight him with Sandman even giving up later on. Harry's a non-factor in the villains as he comes to aid Peter instead with defeating Venom. So, while the hype on the children's books is trying to make it out to be some battle royale the leaks say otherwise.

um, superman goes through a brick wall, and it doesn't hurt. spider-man goes through a brick wall, and it hurts.

spider-man going through a brick wall should be equivalent of a human going through a plaster wall, it'll hurt, but it'll most definitely not put him out of business. we're talking about a guy who can bench 15 tons here.

That would not happen as no matter how clever Spidey is that sort of battle would kill him. Venom alone can easily batter him. Also Venom isn't the type to team up...unless of course you put in in a new version of the Sinister Six *cough*

At a guess I would say the final showdowns occur with Sandman and Venom however I think it is mere coincedence that they are both at the Construction Site. Spidey gets battered by Sandy and Sandy's daughter comes along begs her father to stop, he does...END.

Spidey then goes up against Venom trying to save MJ and gets even more battered, Harry coming to his side after a change of heart (no doubt realising his father was a "bad man") decides to float around and watch the battle for a bit and then when Venom looks to deliver the final blow Harry steps in and takes the blow which probably kills him giving Spidey enough time to seperate the Symbiote from Brock somehow. Although it could go another way of Harry keeping Venom occupied while Spidey is thinking of something to do.

There is a guy over at imdb claiming to have seen some sort of screening, I don't know what to think of the guy... but, after that whole dismissal of the guy months ago who gave a uncanny plot description that we earlier dismissed you can never know-

Don't know where else to put this, know a lot is coming into this forum. Believe him, don't believe him. According to him he has "proof" that has yet to surface-

Funny thing is, he claims he's seen it in the same area that I live at. I haven't heard any such things about this screening.

But stranger things have happened...

ALL INFORMATION REGARDING THAT WILL BE POSTED IN THIS- (since I don't know where to put all this, bewarned- if this guy is legitimate it's very spoilery):

It arrives in crystallized form from the moon after Jamesons son digs it out of a meteor, he thinks he'll be able to win back MJ with this crystal it then turns to goop when it hits earths air(I think that's what i assumed, it turned to goo when it came out of the shuttle)

yeah it's alive there's even a cool scene where your seeing spiderman through the symbiotes eyes

It kind of slithers around looking for a proper host and then sees spidey fighting some banks robbers and then attaches it self to spideys foot and turns red

yeah, Doc connors seems a little obsessed with his arm cause Peter goes to visit him and he looks like a junkie in side of his lab all strung out and sweaty

sandman overloads himself in a blind rage after venom hurts his daughter @ a construction sight he be becomes like 50 feet tall gives a good pounding to venom/ spidey and then collapses into a heap turns back normal for a minute to say goodbye to his daughter, sorry stuff like that and dies

I don't know what to think right now. Isn't there a report somewhere that Sandman lives? Don't know which is accurate- but, the bold part sounds very "Raimi" (remember Ock tentacle scene in SM2)

I'll rate it a 10 for the last 15 mins and a 9 for the rest. I still think that 2 was better only because i liked the losing everything then getting it back again deal. this one was just more like a drug addict/breaking the addiction movie (complete with the seeing one's reflection right before dealing the killing blow scene) with the drug of course being the symbiote(it's funny because the word symbiote is never said)

Also this has got to be one of the most covert screenings I've ever heard of:

i live in York PA and i bought a ticket for Wild Hogs @ and a Sony rep came out and said that we're being shown a big new Sony film and thatWild Hogs would play afterwards but if it would be too late then Regal would give us passes to come back. Then they told us it was spider-man 3 and of course the theatre went nuts. They handed us these little questionaires @ the end with questions like "If you could shorten/lengthen and scene(s) what would it(they) be?, stuff like that. So before I say anything i know i'm gonna have to prove it to you guys so luckily I was able to get some video on my phone of the sony rep and about the first 2 mins. of the film. I have no idea how to put this on the web, so help me out.

Um, I don't know- this next part has me seriously doubtful. Sure Raimi loves his fans, but I doubt he would ever be this kind to us:

I think it'll narrowly avoid an R, but if it gets a directors cut it'll have to be R or unrated. Simply for the havoc venom unleashes, it gets a bit bloody. And no venom/eddie doesn't die the symbiote detaches (mostly) and disappears which leads to Eddie getting carted of to the nut house and being put in a cell next to Cletus Cassidy

Seems to much like a fan's "wet dream" scenario of how everything would go down... and we've got another source saying differently somewhere else on the net- sounding more like just another "faker" after this comment.

i'm watching the fight for the 5th time now, it is by far the best fight. it tops everything in 1 and 2, even the train sequance, which i didn't think they could do, and they have with a little fight between harry and peter, my god i can't wait to see what the rest of the action scenes are going to be like. i used to think harrys suit looked dumb until i saw this whole sequeance, now i think his suit looks awesome and i actually hope medicom or sideshow makes a figure of him.

Awesome stuff.

So, I have a question...why is Harry's sword green?

And, I am loving how Raimi made Venom quite a bit of a monstrosity, lol...when his eyes open all big once his head comes up, that looks pretty dang scary.

In one trailer, it shows Sandman being huge, but all sandy, so how does he get big and more bulky now than more sandy-ish?

So, I have a question...why is Harry's sword green?

Apparently it's capable of releasing some mystery energy, undoubtedly so he scalds and slices Peter at the same time. The sword seems to be a killing blow, so if it has extra oomph from the retractable bladed gauntlet it's not surprising- he's out to kill.

He's drawing from all the dirt, gravel, sand and debris in the construction site. The original form is just him expanding himself.

Or...could he have mixed the metal with the serum?

I love that too, and then he tears out a chunk of the wall! I was thinking though, I originally found it strange in the trailers that he would call Peter "Pete", which is something a friend would say to him - "You knew this was coming Pete", (you think if he was angry and insane enough to kill him now that he would call him Peter, a more distanced name).

But now that Peter tries to explain that Norman killed himself, it's almost as if Harry doesn't want to recognize the truth, and has made up his mind to kill Peter no matter what - "Shut up!". I kind of see this line, and the fact he used "Pete" a sign that he hasn't been completley consumed by the Goblin even if he took the serum. I still think Harry is underneath all of that rage and confusion. Maybe I'm reading into the sit. too much, but it's interesting to think about.

So, I have a question...why is Harry's sword green?
I was wondering what was up with his sword too in another thread earlier today, and it looks like it's some kind of energy overtop of the actual blade (if you watch a few seconds later as he's swinging the thing like mad and before he plunges it downwards, you can see it's not a lightsaber or something, but a charged up blade. I think the green energy stuff is there to make reference to the Green Goblin heritage, just like the green on his suit).

When did Harry become Night Surfer. This is a totally new character and has nothing to do with a goblin. For that reason alone...this costume works and is cool...as long as they don't call him ____ Goblin. Harry works for me.

New Goblin is named in the official site, and Avi Arad said 'just Harry'. Besides, the filmmakers saying 'it has nothing to do with the Green Goblin' is bull*****, what do they know? The original comic book story say he is the Green Goblin II. I don't know about you, but I guide from the comics, and so far they've adapted everything right. But IT DOES HAVE TO DO WITH THE GOBLIN, not in the movie, but it does in the comics.

No, they haven't adapted everything right.

Not that they need to, and for adaptations sake, they shouldn't.
Storywise though, there has been a lot that has been altered....and with Sandman being Ben's supposed killer, that would change the canon even more.

I know my comics thank you. I was talking about the movie. I know they named him New Goblin but wtf does that mean? He's not a goblin. I agree with Arad and I also just call him Harry...which works for me. This is the only character Raimi has strayed way far in terms of costume design and application for the movies.

What I loved so much about this here clip was that it showed us that this really is a TRUE (superhero) trilogy!!!

Movies like "Indiana Jones" are NOT a real trilogy, even though many seems to claim this. "The Godfather" is not either! It's become so damn fancy to say "trilogy" these days, but many dont even know what a REAL trilogy consists of...
So what is a REAL trilogy anyway? Let me point some out; "Back to the Future", "Matrix", "Lord of the Rings", "Star Wars"... These Movie-trilogies all have ONE THING in commen; it's ALL about going back to the beginning! Which is why Sam Raimi says, and I quote "Spider-Man 3 is a continuation of the story of Peter Parker". The key word is CONTINUATION! "Indiana Jones" for example doesn't have that, cause they jump BACK and FORTH in those films, and ultimately they have exactly squad to do with each other! (dont get me wrong, I love them though!)

Everything in that extended clip was just so WONDERFULLY recognizable!:)... It was "SPIDER-MAN 3", no question about it! Even though the action was 10 times more badass then in the previous films (that Pete vs. Harry fight beats the train-battle in spidey 2 all by it self!)... The action was the coolest ever, and that's just a good thing. But had the clip had a totally different "feel" then the other ones, it wouldn't have been the same. Stuff like that is the beginning of messing up a franchise that was super to begin with... I mean the romance, the music, the thrilling energy, the warmth (I'm talking about the Aunt May scene here lol!), it was all so perfect!!! Now that I've seen that that's in place there's a lot they need to do to screw it up when I see the whole thing (at least for me). They haven't forgotten where they're coming from, yet they're moving on with a darker story, a lot more serious ellements going on, not to mention a DAMN more complex story! This is all SO good! It really is a real superhero trilogy!

If this film ends up beeing half as classy and badass as this clip makes it look like, "SPIDER-MAN 3" will definitly take the world by storm!.........A "SAND-STORM"!!!;)
