Okay first off great pics and thanks for them....I actually am kind of teetering on whether or not I like the Transformers movie stuff....what I'm HOPING Hasbro does is make some kiddie versions for the toy stores but then comes out with larger more movie accurate versions of the characters.
I know that they are making an 'Ultimate Bumblebee' buuuut he's about $80 and is the ONLY friggin' Transformer in this 'Ultimate' Series :(
However that Starscream who looks to be a bit larger than the other Starscream looks cool...what's that one from? Voyager line? What is this 'Voyager' line entail? How many damn variations in size do they have for the TF movie line?
Also can you post some comparison pics with the larger Transformers up against some regular oh I dunno...6-inch figures perhaps?
Thanks again!

The "kiddie" versions would be the Fast Action Battlers - simple transformations and durable. The first set of pics in the first post here are the kiddie version toys. All of the characters will probably be released as Fast Action Battlers
Then we have the deluxe class - where they are more detailed and transformations are a bit more complex than the kiddie versions, however the toys are small enough to be sold on "cards" - like the majority "Classics" line of toys.
So far the deluxe class toys for the movie seem to be protoform prime & protoform starscream, bumblebee, barricade, brawl, jazz and bonecrusher. I can see the logic behind bumblebee, barricade and jazz being in the deluxe class - but IMO brawl & bonecrusher should have been voyager class.
Then the next size class is called Voyager - these toys are quite bigger than deluxe sized toys and have more complex transformations and detailing than the deluxe class toys. So far the voyager movie toys are - megatron, optimus, ratchet, ironhide, blackout and starscream.
Leader class would be the next largest - actually significantly larger - probably about the size of Unicron & Primus in robot mode. These are highly detailed and the transformations are much more complicated than the smaller versions (for the movie toys at least). The movie toys coming out in leader class will be Optimus and Megatron (for sure) and then there's rumours that there will be a leader class Brawl and maybe Blackout.
There will also be a Titanium line of toys for the movie guys as well as a legends line (small version, super basic transformation). Oh and another kiddie line called "bump & go" As far as I know, the only ultimate version is still Bumblebee and nobody else.

Actually Leader class is not that much bigger than Voyager (nessisarily). The Cybertron leaders were pretty big but the Armada and Energon leaders weren't. The way I've observed it to be in terms of size classes is scout (smallest), deluxe, mega (dropped after the Energeon line), voyager, ultra, supreme (these all had the names changed at least once). Primus, Unicron, and Omega Supreme/Sentinel were Supreme class. Leader class is a special class reserved for, as the name might imply, the leaders of the factions.

Those are prototypes/first production runs from evil-bay (or if you prefer ebay :cwink: ). Most likely "aquired" from the factories in China, or a warehouse in the US. The first wave toys are already shipping to stores (reports are sufacing of a TRU or Wal-Mart in the mid-west US putting them on the racks a month early).
But me I'm going for the Leader class Prime and Megs. And the in movie characters in Deluxe and Voyager. Then maybe the video game characters/line padding (which outnumber the in-movie characters by almost 2:1 now).
DJ Kornphlake

We aren't putting them on the shelves early at the TRU I work at. I just stare at them in the warehouse.

O Can you review voyager Optimus Prime ,Deluxe Barricade, voyage Ironhide, and Voyager Megs, and SS?? Like how are there Transformations?, Or what would you give them on a scale out of 10?, What are some pros and cons on the figures? How is there playbility? and stuff of that nature. If its not much trouble some pics in alt mode and bot mode with the reviews would be greatly appreciated. I know this is alot but I would really find it useful and you have great pics. ;)

Also, what's the MSRP for the Voyager and Deluxe class figures? I heard somewhere that Voyager was going to run at $40... I really hope that isn't true.
Timstuff
05-19-2007, 02:52 AM
I'd definitely have a hard time passing up voyager OP and Megatron. Leader class OP looks really cool too, but $40 is a bit more than I can justify spending for something that's probably going to just display on a shelf. Besides that, the voyager ones are closer to scale with the other figures anyway, should I decide I for some reason need more (which I wouldn't be surprised if I did, lol). Anyway, great thread and great pics, they were very helpful!
My little cousin is probably going to end up getting some TFs for his birthday this year. He's only going to be six, so I'm not sure if I should get him anything from the deluxe or voyager lines, or just stick with the FAB ones. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Toys R Us is LOADED with Transformers stuff today, I thought they were leaks but my wife reminded me that, you know...it's the second. They didn't have a Star Scream or Iron Hide though, found those at Wal-Mart.
Wal-Mart is only about 3 cents cheaper then everywhere else, I got my Leader Prime for 39.99 at TRU, it was 39.67 at WM. I will say that Iron Hide is my favorite looking Transformer outside of Prime, he will be mine soon.
WM Transformers "Buddies" were more exspensive then TRU, WM had them for 5.88, TRU had them for 4.99. WM also had a Bumble Bee vs Barricade "First Encounter" two pack, I think it may be an exclusive...not sure, either way I really liked the look of ALL the figures.
Only got Leader Prime today, but I'm excited to get more. :)

me being a Prime fan I have to get Leader class prime to add to my 'collection'
I have
G1 prime: that i had restored with fresh new color matched paint for the red and blue diecast areas and re chromed the chrome parts with special chrome paint that i had airbrushed on. and finished it off with a set of new decals for the cab. the trailer was in mint cond and had all the accessories so only the cab needed the resto.
Classics Prime: he is one of my favorite Prime figures, only the lack of a trailer and him being a tad small kill the coolness factor.
20th Anniversary Prime: original issue with all the 'battle damage' removed from his body using rubbing alcohol but i kept the 'damage' near his knees though. and i finished him up with a set of reproduction 'LONG' stacks that are identical to the ones on the japan MP-01 Convoy figure.

I found MegaTron... It is crazy good. It's the leader version. I hid it, and am thinking about purchasing it. Only question I have is, is Megatron in scale with the Voyager Prime? Seeing as how Prime and Megatron are both the biggest bots, but Megatron is substantialy bigger than Prime, right? So if you were to get accurate scale you'd go with the 12 inch Megatron and the 8 inch Prime, right?
Other quick question to any know it all Transformer fans. Are they going to make a Fast Action Battler Megatron and Bumblebee? Possibly in a series 2? Or how about a Voyage Megatron? I'm looking to get all the characters for as cheap as possible, but if all that's available is the leader sizes for the main people ... that would really suck.
VaderRISE
06-05-2007, 05:32 PM
I don't care about scale, I care about look...Leader has the pure CGI model look...Voyager does not.
That being said, I bought Jazz today, another cool bot, IMO.

Got my first two Transformers toys ever today. And man, are they nice. I got Leader Megatron @ Target for $40 (on sale), and I got Target's Voyager Optimus Prime. And boy am I mighty pleased. The scale is perfect between the main characters and compared to the rest of the characters. They look fantastic. Especially Megs, who is actually kind of frightening to look at. Creepy face, and I love it. I hear Megs is real hard to find? Mine was sitting by its lonesome next to ALOT of Leader OP's. I then went to a local stand alone KB store, and they had ONE Meg. No Leader OP, just one Megs. Dude said they come one to every few boxes of Leader OP's he's got. If anyone wants me to go back to get it, and for me to ship it to you ... I'll be glad to hook it up. It's much better than the Icey Voyager one. Scale is downright perfect. Voyager OP is like 9 inches, and Megs is about 12 - 13 inches. Ironhide is my most wanted figure now that I have Leader Prime, how is he? I've read reviews that he's beyond awesome as a TF figure.
Hes worth it. HARD to transform without instructions... think i coulda figured the ribick's cube faster lol.

BTW... I FINALLY found Megatron at Target. There were 2... but now theres 1 left. (had to make it easier for those who are bad at math)

I just went to Wal-Mart tonight. They had Voyager Starscream, Ratchet, Ironhide, and Blackout, Leader Optimus Prime, as well as a whole bunch of deluxes and fast action battlers, along with the misc. other TF related toys (Optimash Prime anyone?). I ended up coming home with the 2-Pack with Deluxe Bumblebee and Barricade, which I paid $16 for. I've transformed them about 3 times now (each way), and I love them! I've got to say, these toys have got me mega pumped!
Now If only I can get my greasy mitts on Voyager Optimus Prime and Megatron, I'll be happy. I'll likely be tempted to buy other Voyager figures as well, though.

Pretty awesome that you had your G1 Prime restored, I wish my G1 Prime wasn't all played out.

Reissues are your friend. :cwink: I put down a preorder on an Encore Convoy from Hobbylink Japan. Even if the shipping is crazy it'll still be cheaper than getting a Hasbro reissue off of theif-bay.

^True...haven't thought of that. bI have zero desire to get Voyager Prime, but I'll probably get the shiny blue Target Exclusive and keep it MOC. I also want the "talk like Optimus Prime" mask thing. Peter Cullen does the voice on one of them (yeah...there's two versions.)
I want Megs...but I'm getting all the Autobots first, then I'll work on Megatron. I already have Prime and Jazz, my next one will probably be Bumblebee/Ironhide, then Ratchet.
I figure Megs will probably be over flowing the shelves by the time the movie hits, so no sense in ripping my hair out trying to find him.

They have several Ironhides at my local Wal-Mart. That's usually the best place to start.
Last night, my friend bought Ironhide and my brother bought Starscream. They're both excellent toys, although Ironhide was quite tricky to figure out the first time, even with instructions. The TFTM toy line is easily one of the finest TF lines I've seen in a long while (the Classics line was nice too).

The guys I live with used to give me a lot of crap when I"d bring home a new Transformer but they are even impressed with him. Had a bunch of them wanting to try. Told them no of course. $45 up here in Alaska.

My little cousin's birthday isn't until November, but I decided to be prepared and pick up Fast Action Battler Optimus Prime and Brawl today to put away, since I'm predicting that in November they will be harder to find. I'm surprised at how good the FAB figures actually look, despite being much simpler and less complicated than their Deluxe and Voyager class brethren. These will be his first exposure to Transformers, and even though he's too young for the movie (he's 6), I think he's going to have a blast with the toys. Maybe I'll hunt down a G1 DVD for him while I'm at it, hehehe. :)
I can't believe how fast the Leader Optimus Prime is flying off shelves! The Wal-Mart where I work had at least 5 in stock this morning, but by the end of the day there was only one left! I'm still planning to get Voyager prime instead, but knowing how in-demand Leader OP is makes him a bit of a temptation. I just have to keep reminding myself that Voyager prime is closer to scale with the other figures, and that for the price of Leader Prime I can get Voyager Prime and Megatron. :p

I'd go with Leader if I were you, Voyager...eh. Sure, he's smaller then Megatron but he's also a lot "worse looking" then Leader Prime. His huge stupid backpack is a major turn off for me. I'll get the Robo Vision to keep Moc...maybe, but if it wasn't for the exclusive I'd have zero interest.
My wife went hunting for Ironhide for me today while I was at work, she's nice like that. :)

I have Leader class Optimus and think he is awsome. Yeah it took me a while to learn his transfermation but now it only takes me a couple minutes to do. He is well worth the price. I don't have Targets up here in Palmer Alaska so I didn't have an option for the other version.
I picked up Bumblebee and he is awsome. Though not as detailed as the Leader class the delux still look frigin sweet. He and Optimus make a good pair on my shelf.

In robot form they're about as tall as Bumblebee's robot form. I was actually hoping there would be MORE protoforms, like Ironhide and Bumblebee. I think they are pretty cool figures.
In Starscream's meteor mode, his arms are bent back around the main piece of his torso and when you transform his into robot mode, if you pull the arms into correct place his head pops up from the torso. Its something new they put in.....what's it called.....automorphing. Its kinda cool.
One thing I did notice though, On the back of the package it shows Starscream's protoform head, but the actual figure's head is not like it at all. The head looks more like his Earth mode.

I bought Scorponok today. He's pretty rare it seems, and I'm guessing it's because the complex gear systems in his drill arms make him more expensive to produce than the other deluxes. His transformation is friggin' lame (he's easier to change than a Fast Action Battler!), but his scorpion mode is pretty cool.
However, what is really interesting is that the figure actually gives us some clues about what Leader class Blackout may be like! There is a hex-shaped peg on Scorponok's back that spins when the drills are active, and theoretically, if the hex peg is spun, it will make the drills spin. There are also two hex-shaped holes on Scorponok's back, which undoubtedly are intended to have hex-shaped pegs inserted into them. I believe that Leader Blackout will be able to combine with Deluxe Scorponok somehow, much the same way that Voyager Blackout has a mini Scorponok that he can combine with. I also believe that Leader Blackout could actually have motorized propellers! This would make sense, because it would mean that Scorponok's drills would automatically spin while the propeller blades are active. I'm interested to see how Leader Blackout shapes up.
Once I find out how much $$$ I have, I might buy a leader Megatron and repaint him, since they seem to have plenty at my local Wallie-World. Once it's done I'll probably sell it, and then customize a second one for myself, and probably pick up Leader Optimus Prime, assuming I can get around $100 for the custom leader Megatron. I don't want to get too carried away though, because there are some other model kits that I was hoping to work on this summer, if I have the time and capital.
I'm still keeping an eye open for voyager Megatron as well, but I've yet to see him.

Not sure about Blackout but Brawl aka Devistator will be released in a Leader Class version. Also Bonecrusher is being rumored for a Leader or Voyager upgrade to fit in better with Leader Prime. Blackout works fine as Voyager and so does Starscream. I think everyone wants their Alt modes to be in scale more, but their robot modes are perfectly fine

Yeah Barricades transformation back into car mode is a pain in the a$$. You have to fold up his legs a certain way and shove the legs into the windshield practically. Also watch out for his doors. The "Police" decal will scrape off extremely easily if your not careful.:cmad:
As for Jazz you can tell if his head has gone up all the way if his chest has snapped in place. If it hasnt keep pushing the windshield in more till he finishes auto-morphing.

I'm still debating the future leader and voyager releases of the TF movie figs. Brawl didnt do much in the movie, Bonecrusher was completely punked out by Prime and Blackout was sorta as well even though his beginning scene was ****ing insane. Plus by the time most of these even come out, my interest in them won't be as great cuz the movie will be phazing out of theaters. I think as far as TFTM toys are concerned, I'm gunna be getting two 08 bumblebees (one to open and one moc for my bumblebee collection), then possibly one more leader class figure or voyager depending on who. I'd kill for a blackout leader class. Then after that back to g1s and Masterpieces

I've only seen two Scorponoks, and because they are so rare here I ended up buying one. My guess is that the elaborate gear system in his arms makes him more expensive to produce, and so they're limiting him to one per case in many regions.
Unsurprisingly, the figures for Bonecrusher and Swindle are spilling off of shelves here, while nothing else seems to be in stock. Bonecrusher should have been a voyager, and the TF game should have been less sucky. Also, Swindle's robot mode isn't exactly awe inspiring. Not as bad as Scorponok's, obviously, but they could have done better.

I don't think that's the case. This is CLASSIC Hasbro stuff going on. One place has a BILLION of one toy, and you can't find it in 10 other states! :cmad:
Like I said before, the walls of Wal-Mart of practically decorated in Scorponox, not to mention the "Astroid" version of Starscream which no one wants.
But you can tell that kids are just as smart as adults when it comes to this particular toy line, because every toy that doesn't appear in the movie can be found in abundance all over the place. It's the ones that shared quality movie-time that are tough to track!

Yea, I went to Wal-Mart yesterday, and the place was practically wiped out of TF figures. Plenty of PF Starscreams, a couple Ratchets and Blackouts, and 3 Bumblebee/Barricade deluxe figure packs (I was P.O.ed cause I already got Barricade). But I found a crown jewel: one Optimus '07/Optimus '84 FAB/Deluxe pack. I hid it behind the boxes and costumes in the Spider-Man section. I came back today, got it, and I'm pretty satisfied with it. The transformations are very easy, and I'm thinking about posting some reviews of my movie figures soon. The OP 2-pack is a must buy, if you can find it, of course.

I know this isn't movie related...but i just won a bid for a G2 Megatron on eBay. I'm so stoked...i asked for this toy for christmas so many years and never got it.

got mine today too :D have to admit it would actually be an awesome leader figure, having seen the diferences between leader brawl and his smaller version, i mean the toy for jazz has the worst hands but other than that a great toy :D
Syn (Mercenary)
08-06-2007, 05:02 AM
Yes but he's in scale. No one would buy a leader Jazz besides a few. His forearms bother me most. But I think his paint job is a 8-9?10, so don't know why you hate it.

Is it just me but don't Jazz and Ratchet look chubby, especially the legs?
Syn (Mercenary)
08-06-2007, 06:11 AM
Um...no. They are transformers. If Hasbro painted some of the details on Ratchet's legs, he'd be better. But they are fine. They don't look chubby to me.
Plus, if you thing thats chubby, look at G1 character's toys.

You take your transformers really seriously.

I finally found two Leader Optimus Primes in K.B. Toys today. They were $10 more than they would have been at Wal-Mart or Target, but I purchased them without hesitation. Today is a good day.

Yeah, KB toys has everything overpriced unless its on clearance. Why did you want two?

The KB down the road from me had a leader class megatron i might pick up if he's still there on payday. (friday)

I can't find any figures anymore. Only target exclusive small guys, and the Starscream protoform. All the stores I went to are out. :(
Green Scar

my target is whipped out. the only TF stuff we have is Unleashed Bumblebee (on clearance), OP Voice Changer, Walkie Talkies and the Scout class figs.

Man, whats the clearance price for him?

Well, if its on clearance there, it could be on clearance near me. Also, keep us up to date on restock.
And especially leader Brawl!

I am going to be repainting my leader OP, and I was considering doing a second one to sell on eBay during the holiday shopping season. But looking back, I don't think I'm going to have any time to do it once school starts up, and I'm barely gonna have time to finish my own OP and my second leader Megatron, so in all likeliness I'm gonna end up returning the other Optimus Prime. I think demand for custom figures is starting to simmer down, so I should just be glad that I got a lot for my first custom Megatron, and not try to press my luck.
Still, I'm glad to finally have one (even if it was overpriced), and I can't wait to start tricking him out. I'm gonna be replacing all of the yellow LEDs on him with blue ones, as well as re-painting all of his gray parts with silver and adding a few additional details.

Yeah, the movie Jazz figure isn't the best. He's pudgy and fat, his arms feel like they're broken, and his vehicle mode is bigger than it should be. But hey, it's better than nothing, and to be fair, the toy looks a lot better in person than the pictures show. It's just a shame they couldn't have made him sleek like his movie counterpart.

One thing is for sure, though. Pudgy and fat Jazz and Ratchet may be, they're still the best merchandise representation of the movie characters in the market right now.

Ratchet is actually a very solid figure. The only thing I dislike about him is the screw holes on his shoulders (but if you've got the materials you can fix that, anyway.)

ULTIMATE JAZZ :D
thats what dreams are made of ah, seriously though who cares about his size to others, they should do ultimate versions of the autobots, Jazz would be great, they could really improve him from his deluxe toy currently the only good one out.

I myself hate the arms, but come on people. It has to work in robot and vehicle mode. Its a toy, not a model. Its pretty good for the circumstances, and like timstuff said, he does look better in person.

Just got home from work....no TF toys AT ALL last night. Even the Unleashed Bumblebees are gone...Well, we have 2 trucks each night for the next three nights...so there's hope there. (usually we only get 1 truck a night)

Next payday I'm going to finnish off the Desepticons. We have Megs and Brawl at work, they taunt me as I walk by.
Oh I picked up Dreadwing just because he was a jet so Starscream could have a squadrin. Though I have to say the head, lack of hands, and fett suck.

I'm turning the voyeger class optimus into Ultra Magnus. I figured for 20 bucks it was worth a try.
