^^^^^What would be a scene that you would like to see played out.....that maybe would fit into what we know of the storyline?

Carp Man

That's hard to say. I want to see The Thing perform feats of strength that we know only The Thing can do. I mean pulling the fire truck up, that was cool, but that's all he did. I just want to see more of The Thing, being The Thing. As for a scene ? I would love to see The Thing and Doom duke it out. Blow for blow. Strentgh against strentgh. Just a battle to the end.

There are aspects of the film that are already set in motion witch we have no control over...physical appearances of characters, The Thing's brow, Doom's armor, Sue's hair (which has never really been a huge concern to me) but anyway, things that are important to all of us which we'd all like to see.

However,...I 'd love to see the action portrayed in that out of this world, next level kind of way that none of have ever experienced. As in when Galactus summons The Punisher (and I know many of you know I don't mean Frank Castle) to whoop up on Ben and the rest of the group. Kirby had a way of drawing it so that you knew this was an extraordinary level of existence that these people were experiencing that normal man doesn't see. And they reacted and adjusted to it in an extraordinary level of existence . I feel that is something that these characters deserve to operate in and be portrayed in.

The first time I saw the opening shot of the Matrix with the girl running and diving, what seemed a mile, I knew the Wachovsky brothers understood motion in that way. I remember thinking, "Man! These guys could do a great Spider-Man movie. For the record I feel that's something the Spider-Man movies could have a bit more of but that's off the point.

Anyway, that's what I'd like to see. Less adherence to, or worrying so much about, the laws of physics. "Can this be done?" "Can a person really do that?" and so forth. I'd like to see extra-ordinary, super situations for these extra-ordinary, super people.

I know that this would never happen but James Earl Jones.

To me it would be the ultimate nod to the interconnectedness of the inspiration of Darth Vader and a tribute to his own transformation in that scene where he was transformed.

It would be what I call one of those weird movie phenomenons, like Kevin Bacon's 3 degrees of seperation thing.

Wow. I can't think of a moment that would do it for me moreso that Galactus' uttering "Rise" to the newly born Silver Surfer. Damn, Highguard, that moment better be in the movie now or I"m gonna be disappointed! :yay:
And yeah, James Earl Jones would be perfect, as cliched as it sounds. I hope they at least asked him.

There was a scene described in one of the articles a few months back (I think it was connected to MTV's coverage) where a weakened Surfer says to Sue: "I was once called Norrin Radd."

I also remember reading that the Surfer has relatively few lines.

A few lines could easily tell the Surfer's origin (along with a few images as he speaks):
"I was once called Norrin Radd...

Galactus, destroyer of worlds came to mine...

I said... spare my world, and I will serve you..."

...and then that whole "Rise" thing.
With a Galactus voice that shakes the walls of the theater.

Great scenario, Highguard.

And I could accept the approach of Galactus involving some cosmic cloud, if we'd already been given a glimpse of Galactus' actual form.

My guess is that
the FF's final battle with the cosmically charged Doom takes place against the backdrop of a nighttime sky that's filling with purple "approaching Galactus" cloud :cwink:
The FF find some way to defeat Doom, sending his power surging back into the Surfer.
The Surfer hovers above everyone, unmoving as the End of the World appears imminent and certain.

Then at the last moment, the Surfer streaks toward Galactus and there is a really terrible kaboom...

The night sky is suddenly normal...
Doom skulks away...

Then the epilogue, with Reed & Sue's wedding completed, lots of celebration and probably some drive-by characterization with Ben and Alicia...

But the final shot is Doom, sitting on his throne in Latveria...
...holding a newspaper touting the FF's victory with a sidebar on Reed & Sue's wedding...
...and he begins to crush it.

Camera pulls in on his iron mask and the angry bloodshot eyes...

Then black screen with the "4" logo.
Roll credits.

I could live with that.

Yep. The presence of all that crazy techno stuff helped to define Reed's character through the years.
We gotta see more of that stuff.

A lot more than the "transformation chamber" set of FF1. :down

Of course that was still a cash-strapped Reed Richards.
The Reed of FF2 will presumably have greatly increased financial resources. If we see him looking like a kid in a candy store in his new lab, then all will be forgiven.

I've always felt that the fight between the FF and Doom in the street at the end was the way a comic book battle should be... I really don't care for the "Batman as Ninja" style fights in BB. The FF movie was more like a Kirby style battle. I know we saw that one still of Michael grabbing Julian by the throat in Empire but I would love to see another Thing vs Doom battle, Kirby style. Jack may not have had done it pretty but he sure had a cinematic style to panels. They never looked posed or static. Can you just imagine a scene with the Thing leaping on the board and have them slugging it out like this? You can really get a sense of the power of the Thing as he rips into those cables.

The only comicbook movies that cause that boyish, fanboy grin to creep across my face has been Donner's films and Raimi's films. Those films made no pretense about what they were. From Supermans flying scenes and daring do, to the spectacular display of the wall crawlers agility over the canyons of NYC, the all-out superhero style battles, Peter Parkers personal dilemmas, made me feel like I was watching a comicbook come to life....and that's really all I want. They just felt right.

Doom.

The real Doom. Not Julian trying to be Doom--the Doom we all know and love from the comics. MUA Doom. 616 Doom. No substitute, no excuses. Fully blown Doom. The arrogant, genius, regal, charasmatic, tyrant dictator of Latveria. No substitute, no excuses. Fully blown Doom. Part Jeremy Irons, Frank Langella, Darth Vader, etc. DOOM.

Galactus.

I know I probably shouldn't get my hopes up on this one....Galactus would give this film the huge epic quality it needs. He would also take the film right into big time scifi-fantasy territory.

I want this film to make make me feel the same way I feel when watching Donner's and Raimi's films. That same sense of wonder and awe I get from the comics, I want to get from the film.

Indeed, Langella's portrayal of Skeletor was basically Doom. He was the only saving grace for that dreadful He-man film....Though, I'm not going to front, I was right there in line at Loews downtown Brooklyn theatre like every other kid. :yay:

The slight eroticism he injected into the character was delightfully twisted and wicked. But it would be somewhat out of place for Doom.

Ironic, that they can only get Doom right when they're not supposed to be Doom. Good ol Mister Murphy and his laws.

For all the comic book films we have seen, there are far too few scenes of super-powered good guys mixing it up with super- powered bad guys in epic battles.

Superman II was probably one of the best, and, while it didn't live up to it's potential, yes, the brief final battle in FF was pretty cool.

. . . but could any film-maker capture the POWER of those images? Is it possible to put something like that on film? I hope someone is tacking some of these great Kirby panels up with the story boards for inspiration.

Iron Maiden

Amen to that Willie. I agree with you about Superman II and the fight at the end of the FF movie very much reminded me of that and I applaud them for at least making the attempt. I was watching the Superman II movie and it was very obviously a set used for the street fight with General Zod, Ursa and Non(?). They did a lot of location shooting for the FF and they didn't show as much mayhem like in the Kirby panels I posted. But if someone is going to be throwing around the Power Cosmic, we need to see some spectacular results.

They could maybe set it up so there would be a worm-hole that the Surfer could send him through if he caught him by surprise. Send him far enough away that they could end the film and leave it open for a future FF or Surfer film for the Surfer to deal with the consequences.

Well, I don't know if I'd specifically say hell yeah but I'd say "there you go" to hearing Satriani's 'Surfing with the Alien' somehow, somewhere in the movie as we see the Surfer flying by. I know this has been discussed in other threads and there have been nay sayers on the subject. But it seems to me if there's a tune that's actually associated with a character then it should be given some way to sneak into the pic,.... to give that little wink to those in the know. And you know what? I've thought about it beyond that...I think it could enhance a scene too. That's what music should do.

That would be cool! Sort of a Darth Vader/Emperor moment like at the end of Return of the Jedi.

They could maybe set it up so there would be a worm-hole that the Surfer could send him through if he caught him by surprise. Send him far enough away that they could end the film and leave it open for a future FF or Surfer film for the Surfer to deal with the consequences.

I like it.:woot:

As most say, the REAL Doom. Just... Hell, give me a movie with JUST the real Doom and no other characters, and I'll be in Heaven. I want to see Doom ANNIHILATE the FF (Think Marvel Ultimate Alliance after he steals the power of Odin) with ease once he has Surfer's powers. I want to see him in the real armour. I want to see him bellow "RICHARDS!"

I want him to use the Power Cosmic to take over Latveria and I want it so that when he is beaten, the FF are busy celebrating- but Doom is STILL now lord of Latveria.

If we get one scene where Doom is in a Latverian castle on a throne in real armour and utters something which even RHYMES WITH "Richards", I may pass out right there in the cinema.

Doom has always been one of the most dated & pointless villains around to me. See, I’m used too the villain making the hero(s) seem even greater. Doom is just a windbag that Marvel should have killed off a long time ago. Doom stealing SS's power cosmic seemed like the silliest thing ever. I always thought, "They’re really trying to amp this metal dude up, too bad he looks like a fool".

I say take him out of the armor for at least a year or two build up and modernize the character & make him into a top level villain. Otherwise, doom to me always seemed like that jerk you work with or the crazy power hungry boss at your wife's job. And, you make more money then him and your wife won't leave the damn job, because she’s working with kids, and all. Drama!

He's more of a Mole Man level villain then world super power and the F4 version of the menacing Green Goblin’s. Doom just does nothing most of the time besides sitting around and boast about nothing.

Doom’s new name, “Boss Man” the ever annoying.

In the script there was a time when Johnny came back to Sue and it was a very sweet scene that didn't make it into the movie....

Carp Man

Well, I would not want to see a scene exactally like that, but a scene or 2 where Johnny and Sue talk the way a big sister, and brother should talk. Johnny, and Sue having a brother and sister moment.

Sue taking some of their powers ? And what has that to do with a brother, and sister scene ? I have said all along, Chris did a great Johnny, but he went over the top with the charactor, even for Johnny Storm. He needs to take some of the edge off him this time around, and Sue has to show more understanding. Sue had more moments with The Thing, then her own brother.

Well Sue has those same moments with Ben in the comics, so I had no problem with those....I would actually like more this time around....

Those rumors have been going around since we heard there was a sequel....

That panel is from when they each were having each others dreams....Sue was having Johnny's dreams and that helped her to understand his fears, when no one thought he had any fears of his powers......Sue and Johnny also switched powers in the regs right before he becomes Galactus new herald....they had to because another planet was wanting Sue in order to use her to keep Galactus away from their planet I believe.....(its been awhile since I read the issue) and so Reed made a contraption to switch their powers to make it look like she had lost hers and they left her alone.....she was ready to give up her life to save earth, and almost did....

I know Sue and Ben's relationship to each other. I was pointing that out, to make a comparision that, there were none with Johnny. I had no problem with her moments with Ben. That's the way Sue was. She cared about the other 3 equally. We saw that side of Sue Storm with Reed and Ben, but not Johnny. That's Ultimate FF. I have no interest in that. But a few scenes with Johnny, and Sue would be welcomed.

Here's a recent slice of life. Austin separated from his girlfriend, softcore porn star Tess Broussard, several months back. Broussard claims Austin is a drunk and that he abused her. Austin claims she has taken over his $1 million estate and refuses to leave. He says she pointed a gun at his head, threw steaks at him during a midnight barbecue, verbally and physically abused him, and in the summer of 2004, he claims she stabbed his business manager with a steak knife. After the incident, Austin told the L.A. Times: "I'm not a rocket scientist, but I knew I had to get out of this relationship."

I'd love to see Ben clap the surfer with his own board like he did in the 90's cartoon!!

The Thing trying to keep the Surfer's Board from him. The surfer wills it
to him but Thing refuses to let go and is drawn along with it. As it nears
the surfer, a mere flip of surfers hand hurtles Ben Away and The Surfer states: My galaxy spanning board and I are one, it is not for the likes of you. A mere 20 second sequence and the Surfer has let it be known he out classes ALL of the FF with no effort expended.

With all the snow around them it looks like the surfer hits Doom with a cosmic snowball ha ha, probably had ice at the center lol. Great shot Doom being blasted to atoms, very cool!

The Fantasticar splitting apart and manuvering around a collapsing mountain was plenty awe-inspiring. That scene made my jaw drop.
I hate to sound like Carp-Man, but this movie does look to be the suprise hit of the summer. It looks like it's at a whole level above the first movie. :wow:

5 minutes into the movie, it cuts away to crude video of Tim Story committing suicide. Then an announcement follows "Unfortunately, the film was scrapped and handed over to Paramount for a re-write and new director. Please collect your refund at the front."

Lame. :down
