Yep--a semi carrying a pun load most likely containing all forms of death and torture.

I wonder how obvious it'll even be in the movie. Either way, just so Joker.

well you obviously cant tell your head from your ass

its legit, he posted a full description. he even called my friend (a huge batman fan) to let him know that he was on set and had watched that truck drive by.

Calm down, babycakes.

Even if it's real, the text on the pic makes it look fake. That's all.

I <3 that truck. Hopefully the Joker will be on set and someone snaps a pic or two.
its cool isnt it? i always thought it strange how Slaughter is Laughter w/o the S. i guess only The Joker would exploit an oppotunity like that :joker:

The red spray paint looks a little fake. Its not even as blurry as the rest of the text. I made a photomanip of the joker truck and it fooled a crap load of ppl.

It should kinda look like this:

Mike, there's another thread in the forums that took another picture of the same truck in another location, the spraypainted S is real.

[SIZE=2] Just got back from walking around the set, going back a little bit later, but I do already have a few tid-bits of info:

As would be expected, lots and lots of activity going on right now. The Joker's semi is parked at the corner of Adams and Wacker right now, walked right by it, got chills http://s4.images.proboards.com/smiley.gif

As I was walking back home though, I decided to take a stroll near base-camp over at Franklin & Washington, and lo-and-behold, one of the trailers in the lot had its door open. I tried to peek in as best I could without alerting any of the security guards, but I could see someone who I assume is a hairdresser or make-up artist working on someone's hair (don't know who it was for sure, but as we heard from the reports from last night, Ledger is the only principle character being filmed currently). There was a group of people in the trailer just hanging around and talking with the hairdresser and whoever was in the chair, but they all seemed pretty jovial. As I felt it was becoming apparent that I wasn't just waiting for a taxi, I decided to move on, and walk down closer to the parking garage set. LOTS of activity over there. There were 2 GPD units right in from of the Walgreens next to the parking garage, and another 2 in the parking lot next to it. Crew members were all over the place. To top it all off, there are new MOVIE LOCATION police order signs all over that area, saying that there will be filming from July 9th to July 22nd. I'll bet you anything next week is when they'll shoot all the rooftop shots with Gordon, Dent, and you know who.

I'll be heading back over to the chase set in about an hour, so if anyone's around, i'll see you there

A bit of news from this evening's filming. The S-Laughter truck was back with the Joker in the passenger seat. I have a very blurry pic but can't post it anywhere. Anyway, I think it was a stunt double as it didn't look like Heath. Also, although the face was all white there was skin visible around the neck so it didn't look like an actor who'd be doing any close-ups. The suit is certainly purple, but a dark purple. Hair was a dark, muddy green. A bit greasy and fairly straight, longish in the back. Black around the eyes. I was shooed away before the action started but Nolan was right there scarfing down some food. They filmed in the day light for about 2 hours before moving to lower Wacker drive where access was virtually impossible. I assume that's where we'll see the Bat-Pod.

Also, it is an approximately 120 day shoot which is quite long. 45 days in London, about 2 weeks in Hong Kong, and the rest in Chicago. Mostly doing stunt work in Chicago until August -- although it was confirmed that Heath is in town.

Cheers,

Nova

The Joker was out driving the Joker truck, from what I was told it was Heath Ledger. I guess he pulled up with the truck and shoots someone, but I missed that part......... then everyone took off down the street, but they left the semi and GPD car there for a free for all to take pictures, which I think was pretty cool of them to let us do. Finally a dozen or so Gotham cops showed up. From the stuff I've seen recently, this is going to be a great movie!!

http://www.batman-on-film.com/TDK_Chicago2_AP_shoot-report_7-13-07.html

Word has it that Nolan and company screened a 15 minute trailer last night last night before shooting began.

Some cool scenes last night involved The Joker using some sort of rocket launcher to take out the lead Police Car, which blew up and flipped over with a stunt guy driving. Looks like they did a few rehearsals and then shot it twice, the first time I don't think they got the shot they were looking for cause the car flipped over the second time.

Also, The Batmobile was up taking on a garbage truck on Lower Wacker (Easily seen and parked all in a row on lower Wacker were 4 Batmobiles for last night’s shoot. Very cool, all shiny and black. You could see the guys working on them from across the river).

It’s going around that The Batpod will be in action soon with a Batman double riding it. There will be some generic footage shot with the pod weaving in and out of traffic.

A lot of Batmobile stuff of late -- various chase scenes with SWAT and GCP and scenes with the Joker filmed this week. No scenes with Batman at all.
(Highlight to read) The big scene coming up has to do with a car and water. You'll just have to wait for the movie on this one!
http://www.batman-on-film.com/TDK_Chicago2_shoot-report_7-13-07.html

"'Bat-Ror' is back with lots of Joker info. And quite exciting too.

This evenings filming took place on Monroe between Wacker and Franklin. The scene that was shot involved Gotham Police officers, The Joker and one of his henchmen. The Joker and his henchman are behind the wheel of the tractor trailer (which says 'Slaughter is the best Medicine') are driving full speed down the street through a police barricade. A policeman jumps in front of it to stop them and The Joker leans out of the window and shoots the policeman in the face (or chest, I was at an odd angle). At this point they continue to drive through the barricade. They shot this until about 9PM.

Heath Ledger was on set and in full make-up along with his stunt double (though when not shooting they wore hoods and cloaks to cover up the make-up and costume). Also, The Joker’s costume will not disappoint fans, from what I saw. My friend (aka 'Bat-Contini') and I had a great vantage point of all the action. we perched ourselves right in the median of Wacker and were well beyond the rest of the other crowds that were forced to wait on the other side of Wacker and had zero view of the action.
It was a great scene to watch regardless (and Heath looks utterly terrifying).

I seriously doubt this one. Can anyone tell me, have they ever seen a 15 minute trailer before? I think not.

Crook
07-14-2007, 03:48 PM
It's a rough cut composing of various scenes they've filmed. Sometimes footage from this montage is then made into a trailer.

It's not ACTUALLY going to be 15 minutes whenever they make a final trailer to be distributed in theaters. Logic, man.

I do have logic. Its understood that you break it down from 15 to 10 to 5, etc. The problem I have is that this is a teaser, not a true trailer. From an article, it says that they are only going to show it with select Simpsons screenings. Why do that?

I also think that its a bit weird to have it before the Simpsons, but a large amount of people will see it and those people will more than likely see TDK.

I'm just doubting this trailer. We'll see what happens. I could be wrong.

Grain of salt, love it though. Arkham Guard on bof forums:

I was at my local comic book shop yesterday and overheard a conversation between the manager and a customer. They were talking about filming in Chicago. I started talking to the guy and he told me he wasn't cast as an extra but rather he plays a young cop that Gordon befriends and trusts to run interference with higher-ups so that Batman can do his job, presumably at crime scenes, etc. This sounds a little bit like the storyline in DV where Gordon assembles a task force to catch the cop-killer. Seeing Gordon do something like this would be kick-ass!

That's actually not that hard to do. All you have to do is point out the following:

1) The regulation of marijuana by the gov't would increase the price of weed per ounce and probably lead to federal domination of the market whereby only lesser, more average strains of weed will be available on the black market and higher, more effective strains will remain within government sellers.

2) Marijuana legalization will probably require the smoker to carry an ID card which will then allow employers, universities, etc., to have access to their marijuana usage. This already occurs with the use of medical weed.

3) Due to the fact that marijuana will be available legally, the gov't will have considerable more leeway in passing harsher laws against ILLEGAL marijuana use, thereby boxing most everyone into higher priced regulated marijuana unless they wish to face 20 years in jail. Whereas now a cop will find you with a joint inside yoru car and let you go home after confiscating it, cops will be hauling you in for a felony charge regardless of the amount you hold. Also, you'll have to show that you are smoking either legally or illegally obtained marijuana, thus why you'd need the aforementioned ID cards.

The legalization of marijuana would be a pot head's worst nightmare.

It's a rather simple argument to make.

decided to go down to watch some of the lower wacker shooting tonight. they had the batmobile out in clear view for everyone, and were filming (what appeared to be) some chase scenes. not a lot of news to share, but as of 1:30am, the joker semi is currently being set up for a scene. i left right after they filmed a chase scene which ended with an accident/explosion on the other side of wacker.

i'm surprised at how polite the security was tonight. the last night i went out security (at 2 different locations) were being fairly rude to individuals for no reason. like another member stated in an earlier post, please don't use the flash while taking your pictures. that was one line which was constantly repeated by security tonight.

Hello! I'm new.

But I wanted to share the Bat-Love with others. I happened run into Rory-Bat last night (Hello!) and wanted to add my report which includes what we saw until 4am. http://www.x-realms.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/DancingCarrot.gif Sorry for such a lengthy post but I wanted to share everything.
WARNING: There might be spoilerage here so be warned NOW!

OK, so me and my GF decided after dinner & watching Navy Pier Fireworks at 10:30pm that we'd go give the "Dark Knight" filming another peek-a-loo. BOY, were we not dissappointed! We knew that filming on Lower Wacker Dr. from Michigan Ave. to Harrison st. was planned until 6am every night this week so we headed south on Michigan Ave. towards the Chicago River (right past the Wrigley Building and Tribune Tower for those in the know). Lower Wacker is visible from every bridge along the Chicago River as it runs alongside the water way for a looong ways.

Just as we hit the bridge, we noticed some huge movie lights stretched high above the streets on Upper Wacker; basically shining the north side of the river for any shots that might be in the background while filming down there. All of Lower Wacker is blocked off so any movement or action down there is gonna be Batman related. Well, just as we got past the middle of the bridge I noticed a silver SUV with something bulky on top. Exactly when I was about to comment "Hey, doesn't that look like the camera truck we saw the other night?" ... ZOOM! IT TOOK OFF!

And roaring right behind it was the Batmobile (Tumbler) with more camera cars following! Couldn't have been better timing to see that if we tried. Well, since we saw that right there and knew he'd be back to start another take, we hung out. Sure enough, back came the camera trucks, followed by the Tumbler to reset for another shot. We watched them take off once again (flying west down Lower Wacker) and then decided to head more west to see if we'd see more stuff.

There are several bridges that cross the Chicago River west of Michigan Ave. (Wabash, State, Dearborn, Clark, LaSalle, Wells) that give you great views underneath to Lower Wacker. And the best part is that Film Staff or PA's can't tell you **** about watching from the bridges since we're technically not on set or on the authorized areas designated and shut down for filming. Most PA's were cool about taking pictures but asked not to use a flash (though later that night, some PA got pissy about the cameras as well but some Bat Nerd talked his way around him saying we have the right to blah blah blah).

Anyway, we would walk to each bridge, head out a bit and look to see what was up underneath. We noticed that the Tumbler wasn't running it's passes anymore but we did notice that now there were some cars spaced out facing west in the right lanes. No action was happening yet it seemed so we headed to the next bridge to see what was up. At one area the view isn't as clear as the other areas because there's some green tarp hanging along the fences obscuring a clear view (basically the see-through dark green tarps used during building construction). Well, I headed out further on the bridge to see if I could see above the fence line but below the ceiling line for anything ... and that's when I saw it ... the Batcycle (Batpod)!

There were some crew/mechanics standing around it while one guy in all black was sitting/laying forward on it. We gawked at this for a little bit and then noticed the mechanics move out of it's way. Sure enough, it started up and he rumbled off heading east. We waited a minute or two for it to come back as some other gawkers walked up and asked if we'd seen anything. I heard the wail of an engine returning and I said "Yeah, and you are, too. Here comes the Batpod!" "Holy crap, really?" they laughed as it shot back into view and parked. It sat for a bit with people around it but then they rolled it back up a lower alley down there and out of sight. After a bit of waiting to see if it would come back with no dice, we moved further west.

We came up on more parked cars along the way, until we finally reached the last bridge where they were filming. Heading out on this bridge (where more gawkers were hanging out) we looked back and saw the Jokers Semi-Truck with the trailer on back. If you've been following online about the filming and seen pics from the set, you'll know the truck I'm referring. It has an Amusement Park-like logo with the words "Laughter is the Best Medicine" only there's been a spray painted "S" put in front of "Laughter" ... get it?

This is where we met Rory-Bat and his buddy. We started chatting about what's going on. We told him what we'd seen so far and he told us that the other night he'd met Chris Nolan. He even got his autograph and picture taken with him. He said Nolan was a super approachable and nice guy. Also, he said that Heath Ledger in full Joker makeup and costume was in the back of the Trailer and it looked like he would be hanging out the side door with his henchmen. Unfortunately, they'd be on the other side of the trailer so we wouldn't have a great view of them when the action started. He told us that just before we got there, Heath was standing along the river smoking and that his makeup job looked "creepy as hell." (See video Rory-Bat posted) Some other guy (who was on his bicycle) asked where we had seen the Batpod and we told him where, but said that they had wheeled it away out of view. He said he was going to go check it out and he'd be back. Minutes later, he returned saying with a grin "I GOT IT!" He takes his camera out and shows us BEAUTIFUL close up shots of the Batpod. VERY COOL! He basically went around the side alley and got a shot where they are working on the bike. We noted this for future reference.

Anyway, back to the current action. Here's the fun part: the Semi is facing east ... as in the opposite direction than all of the previous cars set up all along where we just came from. We speculated that perhaps the stunt drivers would be swirving away from the oncoming Semi. We were wrong. When they finally got in place with a camera truck on the side lane (on the other side of the concrete median/wall) and a camera truck in front of the Semi (to film in front of the charging Semi) the action started with the Semi bolting east towards the oncoming traffic. There were popping sounds as they passed (gun fire) and we could see the figures in the back stumbling and swaying around in the back of the Semi-trailer. Cars are swirving to avoid the Semi.

But just then ... BAM! ... the Semi knocks the SNOT out of a car! Then BAM! ... another car goes flying out of the way! BAM ... again! The Semi goes out of sight as the action continued. We could still hear the carnage and HOLY CRAP were those cars toast! The guy we were talking to had a buddy on the other side of the bridge who filmed the action. He got a great shot of the Semi blasting that first car like it was nothing. We never thought they'd ACTUALLY hit cars like that but they sure as hell did and IT WAS AWESOME! Eventually, all of the camera trucks came back, followed by the Semi. It took them a long while to clean up the destruction. They had a big forklift thingy to pick up demolished cars while set people swept and broomed up any glass, debris, bumpers, etc.

Since we realized what the shot was and what they were filming, we decided to head back east a little, to watch away from the very beginning of the action and get a better view of some car-tastrophe. We waited for a good bit, chatting with the other gawkers and sharing stories of what we'd seen so far from the movie. Finally, they were ready to roll. We could hear the Semi coming and poised ourselves for the demolition. The camera truck with the long crane and camera attached sped into view first, as the Semi followed CLOSE behind ... a little TOO close! The semi nails the first car and totals it while continuing to blaze it's path. When he hit the second car, all hell broke loose! The camera crane truck that was ahead of the action got a bit too close as the 2nd hit car spins around and nails the camera on the end of the crane and demolishes it. The camera car sped away to avoid being stomped as well as the poor camera crane sways and limps from the impact it had just received. CUT!

Basically, the camera car was a bit close this time and the camera paid the ultimate price. Come to find out from a crew guy who came up to chat during cleanup that it was the IMAX camera that bit the dust. OUCH ... THAT $UCK$!! Heath got out and walked around to see the mess, too. We were a good ways away but you could see his green wavey hair, dark purple jacket, white face and the line on his face that made up his evil grin ... cool. It took them a pretty long time to clean up this mess. They even had to switch to another Semi since after 2 takes, the front end was getting a beating. Since we knew this was going to take a while, we decided to go investigate the Batpod.

We went back to where we had seen it before and headed down a street to see if we could find this side alley that the bicycle guy had discovered ... WE DID!! http://www.x-realms.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/headbangdudeor7.gif And it was a great place to gawk without being noticed, too. Other people thought the same thing since when we walked up, there were 2 guys and 2 girls checking it out ... all smiles. As I walked up one guy says "This is the golden view right here." And he was right ... a PERFECT above and side view of the Batpod being worked on by some mechanics. This was worth it all right here! Not that everything else wasn't worth it, but this was the "money-shot!" We drooled for a bit and then decided to head back to the Joker/Semi shoot.

When we got back, all cars were gone from the shoot and only the Semi remained. I guess they were done with car-mageddon for now. What they were setting up for now was a drive by of a stationary camera and where a bright light would flash. My guess was that it was to simulate an explosion as Heath and the Semi drove past, whether he was using a grenade or Rocket Launcher or if it was a reaction shot to his carnage ... I don't know. The camera was on the other side from us and we couldn't see what Heath was doing for the shot. Only that when they finally did do the take, the Semi passes the camera and a blinding light is turned on as you hear a pop or something. Wasn't too clear what was going on by this time, as it was almost 4am and we were getting tired. We decided to head home, satisfied from our Batman adventure.

Hello! I'm new.

But I wanted to share the Bat-Love with others. I happened run into Rory-Bat last night (Hello!) and wanted to add my report which includes......

He told us that just before we got there, Heath was standing along the river smoking and that his makeup job looked "creepy as hell." (See video Rory-Bat posted) Some other guy (who was on his bicycle) asked where we had seen the Batpod and we told him where, but said that they had wheeled it away out of view...........

ChicageauxTiger, could you tell us where the Batpod was, or PM me with it if possible. A few people asked me where they could see it, if they haven't finished that stuff already. So was the Batpod fast? Loud? Hopefully we canstill get some visuals of it in action, last night tonight :csad:

With both the Tumbler and the Batpod down there what does this mean for that "emerging" rumor? I can't imagine how that would work but what's a better explanation now?

ChicageauxTiger

As far as the sound of the bike goes, there's a definate "rumble" of power. But then I never heard him "open it up" full throttle, so, who knows how loud it can really get.

That goes for the speed as well. When he "sped" off, he disappeared out of view to the left of my "Batpod-FromBridge" shot, so I never saw it in motion for long to see it's speed.

But it overall, it sounded like a tough bike to me. :word:

sasquatchs
07-15-2007, 07:17 PM
Cheers. I can almost see Batman coming up alongside the semi, the semi swerving to crush the bike but it going straight underneath, can't wait. Impressive piece of kit, wonder how well it can turn at low speed with those tires. This stuff impresses me more than CG ever could. Can't believe Ledger is actually in the trailer, you'd think the insurance companies would throw a fit, not much to stop him falling out

Everything is leaning towards that being the case for me

Bat-Pod being the name and the Joker Semi truck most like crushing the tumbler...

Those pictures of the Bat-Pod doesn't look like its fully complete so maybe at first is acts as an escape pod after the Tumbler some how gets destroyed. Then later on in the film he adds additions to the bike like the arm guards, weapons and what not.

Either that, or the mechanics are just fixing things up...

C'mon bro. Look at how the frame attaches to the wheel and compare that to how the frame attaches to the Tumbler's front wheel. I think the thing launches out from the Tumbler and then uprights itself into the batpod configuration.

I'm betting that's how it plays out in the film.

I heard on "The Today Show" last month Al Roker using the term "Batpod" to describe the bike.

Also, I believe the shot I have of the Batpod is incomplete, sort of like they "popped the hood off" to work on it. Because there should be more gray shielding in the middle area and on the "handle bars."

But anything's possible.

The only way they're similar is by only attaching on one side, everythig else is different. It'd make a little more sense if the guns weren't on last night. Movie magic I guess

Maybe the same reason Indiana Jones wears the same clothes on every expedition?

Of course if he did, he'd call it Indywear.

wonder how many people were able to snap pics from tonight. i arrived at the wacker location around 11 or so and security chased down some guy to have him delete his pics. i asked the security guy why we were allowed pictures the other nights and he replied with a smart*** "been reading batmanhype.com?" comment.. lol. o well, just be careful if you want to take pics.

i stayed about 2 hours and really don't have any new exciting information to share. they filmed the joker semi plowing into some cars and what appears to be a scene where joker kicks the driver out of the semi while it's moving. before i left they were rehearsing a few little fight scenes and preparing for what looked to be a scene having to do with fighting in the back of the semi/someone getting thrown out the side door.

What? So you are telling me Stikezone doesnt live in California? And he isnt one of the Jokers personal henchmen? And he didnt save the kitten that was trapped up the tree? And he didnt create Einsteins Special Theory of Relativity? :woot: :woot: :woot:

Just got back from the set. Saw some AMAZING stuff, but didn't get many pics. I'll put my report up later today because I need to sleep right now. Stay tuned....

I have it on my TiVo, but maybe someone else saved it and can post it before I can, but there was about 10-15 seconds of Joker video on Chicago's Fox-32 news this morning. The video was nearly close up frontal shots of the Joker in full costume, talking with other actors, then it showed him skateboarding. It was the clearest and closest photo/video of the Joker that Ive seen so far.

Just FYI, maybe Chicago's WFLD-TV website may post a link of the video. I just checked, and there's nothing there yet, but check back later.

If I do it, im going to lose a lot of quality. Its on the TIVO not attached to my computer, so ill have to burn it to DVD, then download the dvd on my computer and edit an mpg video. Im not sure how esle to post the video but on youtube, but I dont want to get in trouble for using Fox's video. I have several racing videos under the name Supercup9 (cheap plug for my youtube channel) and I dont want to get my account suspended.
Any other ideas?

Use your digital camera to take a pic/video of your tv. Post the pics after having cut out the fox logo.
