AWESOME PIC!
Also with the set report, if you look at Super Hero hype they have a new schedule for filming this weekend.
Everyone go to the places and get some pics and vids. People like me, that do not live anywhere near Chicago (I live in Los Angeles) are counting on you to fill us in with what they are filming.

My Batman Begins DVD now has 3 autographs on it....
I took a picture just to show off
Top right: Chris Nolan
Bottom Right: Gary Oldman
Top left: Graham Churchyard (Works with wardrobe and stuff also is the creator of the 89 batsuit) You can see him on the BB special features section talking about the batsuit. So he deserves a spot on the dvd.

I left work around 9:30 and they were getting things set up in the LaSalle/Monroe area. Tomorrow is the last day of my internship and tonight I got to finally see the Batcycles. They had 4 of them out, including one that looked like it was being connected to some sort of brace/bracket.
The smashed semi was placed in the street, as was the helicopter shell. There was also a SWAT truck placed in front of the semi and I saw another SWAT truck that was much longer than the "armored" version that we've seen.
It was a good time to be in Chicago this summer. I'll miss bat-stalking but will look forward to when the movie comes out next summer.

Did you also see the Joker, Cowleen? How green is his hair?Unfortunately, it was dark and the glare was on the window a bit. Couldn't see the hair but the makeup was fairly right on with the picture with Maggie and the knife.

This is kind of old, but did any detail ever surface about the filming the week of July 4th at Hotel 71 on the 39th floor? I was there, and did a set report, but noone ever really confirmed what scene they were filming??
Also, I realized they are using that parking garage as the GPD rooftop, but that roof looks different than the GPD rooftop in BB. Is it a different roof they are using???

Those are cool shots. Too bad they're so dark.
It's actually the reflectors that are screwing up this guys images. He should have taken the flash off and found a stationary place (a mailbox, a street sign, a newspaper stand, a tree) and taken the pic while staying completely still. Basically, long enough for the shutter to get the light it needs for the picture.
Or, use the flash but making sure there are no reflectors in the shot to bounce back and screw up the picture. It's easier to do probably for the Sportscar, not so easy for the Joker Trailer.
Regardless ... cool car!

That and Lamborghini is the "official" sponsor vehicle of TDK. The lambo company released some press release a couple months back saying so. So I can't see a Ferarri in the movie unless they play on blowing it up.

5:00 AM TEXAS TIME: “A.P.” returns with a brief update on last night's shooting (8/2-8/3):
"The TDK shoot continued in downtown Chicago in the heart of the financial district .
Mostly scenes of the Christian Bale being pulled around on the Batpod -- back and forth and back and forth some more. Passing him on the towed Batpod were dozens of Gotham prop cars used mostly as background in the scene.
There was one great scene in the beginning of the night when they used the Batman stunt guy -- Jean Peire Goy -- driving the pod right up a…

Other than that we'll look forward to Friday night, see ‘ya then!"

This car is indeed Bruce's car and it's a Lamborghini Murcielago LP640. The production will be using at least the shell of the car by request.
This implies that (blacked out):
They want the the shell of the car so that it can be destroyed in production. Bruce's personal car looks like it gets destroyed in an explosion

I just come from there, the security is pretty tight, they are firing PAs for helping too much the people, and let them stay close to the filming, theres a ton of police, they still with the chasing, I saw some filming with the GPD, nothing really exciting. They have the chopper there ready for filming, and Im sure bale is there, cos 1st is a ton of police, hardest than ever, and they were preparing the batpod for filming close ups, they were hooking one of them to a camera van... Also it seem to look to me that they have the lights on in lower wacker drive, so get ready to see some action (if they allow you).
The secret of batman filming in chicago is over, and theres lot of expectation in the people arround there, also seem that they finish filming in LaSalle tomorrow, but they still have parking permit for the whole week, so maybe thats a prepared lie to keep the people controlled.
In case that they finish filming tomorrow there, the rest is gonna be hard to follow, cos is gonna be lot of interiors...

Why use an RPG when the joker can just get his long tipped pistol from Batman 89 to take it down?!

It looks too similar to the car in Begins IMO. Forgive me, I'm not a big car fan and I don't know this stuff.
It is the "same car", just with minor modifications to update its look.

Does anyone know if this is a new model (to be first shown in the movie)? I don't think it's a shell. It looked like the real thing. The wheels has the Lambo logo. I thought it was the mini-tumbler, but realized it was not. I didn't want to take a closer picture because the truck driver was sitting by the sidewalk smoking...
There wasn't many people watching the filming in LaSalle around 9PM. Mayhem was right, they have the lights on in Lower Wacker, but not the big-ass lights.

I was on location on wednesday, and although Cowleen and Typeorocks stole the show by actually meeting some of the cast, I was able to accrue some information. One of the PA's told me that night they were filming diologue during Batman and Joker's final confrontation. Also, when one of the extras walked past, i asked him who he would be playing and when he replied, "Batman" in shock I asked him what he would be doing and he merely stated, "kicking some ass."

Hi, Im new here...uh, I was there tonight...not too much exciting when I left (around 1 30)..when I got there at around 11-ish, they filmed a scene with a GPD SWAT truck hooked to a trailer, with Chris Nolan sitting on the back of the truck dragging it, along with Wally Pfister, etc.. The truck would drive all the way down LaSalle...and at one point, the lights they had rigged in front of it would flash really bright and the truck would swerve back and forth..most likely simulating an explosion, or gunfire.
Anyways, the truck would eventually stop at the famous corner where the PA's block everyone off, and Gary Oldman would get out, wearing SWAT gear (ooo Gordon!), and carry a shotgun with him, take a few steps...and then cut.
They then left for about an hour after that, to reset. In that time, a black Ford Explorer drove right by where we were all standing, and Christian Bale was sitting in it, wearing a hat and sunglasses and giggling at something. He completely ignored us...and word has it he is not a huge fan of us gawkers, so the ignoring was probably very intentional. Anyways, we finally saw the PA's clearing for the truck to come back...and eventually it did...repeating the same scene except this time the camera was in the driver side window on Gary Oldman, and they would stop, the SWAT guy in the passenger seat would argue with Gary Oldman, and then Gary Oldman would make like he was going to get out, by grabbing the shotgun....and that was it. They did that like 8 times (seriously, Nolan must be a perfectionist, or something must have been screwing up). At that point it was around 1 30 and even the diehards had cleared out, so I left.
Sorry if this isn't much by way of an exciting report...I've had much better experiences, including a very close up view of Ledger in full make up, which made the nerd inside of me sweat. Im sure thats already been talked about as he walked by several people and everyone flipped out. Goes to show sometimes sticking around pays off... Anyways, sorry for the non excitement but I figured I'd let anybody who didnt go know they werent missing much. Im sure after I left a million awesome things happened but eh thats the way it goes. Word has it at some point Batpod stuff is going down, but its just way too late (or early, depending on your view).

Oh, I forgot to mention that some guy who had been watching since 6 PM said they had been filming a Joker scene in the alleyway along LaSalle...which makes sense because when I got there we saw Ledger way off in the distance wandering around in the street, looking zany. So, there's that. Again, sorry for the really boring scoop. And another weird thing was...I dont know if anybody noticed this, so if you did please verify...but the alleyway looked to be lit with a green light at one point. Could have been the lights warming, or could have been something bizarre? Who knows?

I don't know..it was probably nothing, because what I've noticed is those lights when they first turn on tend to have a green-ish cast to them...but then again...this was very, very green. Could possibly be a green screen reflecting light? Maybe? Eh? I'm not too privy to the screenplay and plot, etc...does the Joker gas people? I know he plants bombs, but it seems the gas would be too similar to BB.

Yay, Batman! Impressively close, very nicely done. You must have a cloaking device or something. Do you have a good idea for how the scene plays? Batman chases truck, truck flips, Gordon arrives on the scene. No idea what happens then, Joker crawls out and starts killing people perhaps. Don't know what they needed the GCN news truck for, or Eckhart, maybe a scene after Bats and Joker are long gone

I do. If he is not filming or on set he is extremely approachable. You can get autographs, pics, etc. But when he is on set or filming he is very much focused on filming. I can certainly respect that. Don't judge him because you yell his name while he is working and you don't get a response.

Anybody know if they'll be filming Sunday night? I was pretty sure that they had the no parking signs up until the 6th.
Where is the main filming going on? Is it Jackson and LaSalle? I have a very good spot on Monroe and LaSalle where I can see a lot, but I'm not sure if they'll actually be filming there. From what I've seen, only the flipped over truck is at that intersection and a lot of the action happens near Jackson. Not sure though. Just trying to figure out if it's worth staying up all night Sunday night at Monroe and LaSalle. Thanks

as far as bale goes... I kinda get the feeling that ever since batman begins he has become a bigger name and maybe thats making him less friendly to fans. I'd like to hope that just like ledger that they are in character and focused on filming. Maybe if bale is at WW next week he will sign autogrpahs and talk to fans.
FYI... Durring batman begins. They had wrapped up for the night (filming final scene of the movie) and Oldman came out and signed for fans. As well as Bale. Bale was really nice to everyone that night and he personlized every autograph that night. I'm not talking 5-6 autogrpahs. There were at least 10 people around him. Maybe he will sign after shooting is over for the night. But just like heath he dosent seam to walk around anywhere that fans are standing.
But oldman....he is the most fan-friend actor I've ever met. You can even ask cowleen. Gary was about 20 feet away and I yelled for him and asked for a autograph and he walked over. I was just watching the clip of him in true romance..what a great actor :)

What excuses? I don't need to "reach" about anything because 1 million spy pics are not indicative of how a film turns out in the theater. I'll take common sense explanations any day over people who complain over every little detail of the filming process. Clearly looked like a stunt suit. These are usually worn by stunts for wide action shots.

What excuses? I don't need to "reach" about anything because 1 million spy pics are not indicative of how a film turns out in the theater. I'll take common sense explanations any day over people who complain over every little detail of the filming process. Do you really expect to see the stunt driver up close and personal while you're watching the movie? It's not that hard to figure out.
It was a joke, lol.
But there was some truth to it. Surely you remember all these explanations fans came up with, for the set pics of Heath.

I hope this is the case. The idea of a theme-park showdown or grand and public finale just seems misplaced and unnecessary. I hope it ends up just close and personal and quite simple really, a quiet confrontation in an anonymous back alley somewhere where no one else knows what's going on and it's just Batman and Joker sorting out their issues alone seems perfect.

well when I asked one of the workers on set why he would just ignore me and not even look up, they said when he is " in mind set" he concentrates only on that character and wont really talk to anyone. But I still dont see why he couldnt just give me a wave like Gary Oldman did.

And YOU won't ever see why... it's called 'letting the guy do his job'. Oldman has his own way of working, he could stop and wave. Good for him, but as much as he is appreciated, he has a relatively minor part. Bale is only carrying the lead character. He's working hard, in a famously uncomfortable suit, in the heat of summer, in many locations, often in the dead of night. He doesn't owe it to you AND THE HUNDREDS OF OTHERS WHO WILL DEMAND THE SAME THING - hello? anyone there at your end? - to drop what he's doing just to acknoweldge you.
Let's see... he can break his intense concentration and give a lesser performance to acknowledge stupid distractions (that would be YOU), or he could honor his obligations to himself, the people he works with, and the millions of people who will watch the film. Well, the choice is clear! He should wave to you!
Of course, you will care less about this, because the world revolves around you and you should have whatever you want when you want it. But you did ask 'why', and that is why. Sorry you don't like the answer.

As far as all the Bale being a "Jerk" stuff is concerned, it is the method acting and not him intentionally trying to be rude or a jerk.
Read this article all the way thru to the the last line(especially the last line):
http://blog.nj.com/ledgerentertainment/2007/06/under_pressure_christian_bale.html
Quotes from the Article:
An interview first set for 3:30 has been moved to 3:45, then 4:30, then put on hold. Because suddenly it's almost 5, and half a dozen blocks away there are cameras and lights, and Charlie Rose is sitting, waiting to tape his show. Cell phones are going off, a town car has pulled up to the curb, and it's time to go, go, go.
But downstairs, outside the hotel, three fans with widening waists and thinning hairlines hold out Batman pictures, posters and action figures. And Christian Bale pauses to sign them all.
And he hasn't. Except that the clock is still running. This interview is now over, too; the car is waiting downstairs for a torturous rush-hour trip to La Guardia, where a plane is waiting to take him still someplace else. The publicist briskly leading the way, Bale walks quickly down hallways, surrendering his temporary security badge to a guard, stepping outside into a summer street where the heat hits you like a slap in the face. The car door opens. That clock is ticking again.
And Bale lets it tick as he sees another group of fans slowly approaching. One talks, with giggly enthusiasm, of once spying Bale on location in Chicago. Three others hold out Batman pictures like holy offerings, relics waiting to be blessed. And carefully, politely, Bale smiles and signs each one and lets everything else wait.

any details on joke n bats finale?
As I posted before, one of the PA's told me that the final confrontation takes place after Batman fires at the semi, causing it to flip over. At this point (although the PA didn't know exactly why) Batman's Batpos skids out of control and crashes. Joker and Batman have their final confrontation right there in the middle of the street. They were filming this on Wednesday. And from what I gather the Batman double was saying to me when he said he would be "kicking some ass" it seems likely that in this final confrontation a serious fight would ensue. However, there didn't appear to be any explosions or gas so it seems like it'll boil down to good 'ol fashioned fisticuffs.

Maybe that is how they would pull off the "flesh make up reveal"! The rain washes off the Jokers makeup - only not the color we were expecting :wow:
That would be interesting. It certainly does seem to be a big showdown that occurs near the end of the movie between Bats and Joker based on what they are filming and all the reports that are coming in.
It would be really cool if the fight exposes multiple "layers" of the Joker, first the white washing off his face, then the pink washing off his face ... only to reveal white again! That would really mess with Bat's mind and it would totally do the Joker justice for fooling everyone.

That sounds awesome! So let me get this straight, the final Batman/Joker battle:
- Joker in his truck, taking out police cars and SWAT vans
- Car chase, with the Batmobile chasing the Joker truck
- The Joker somehow destroys the Batmobile
- Car chase continues, with the Joker truck chasing the Batpod
- Joker truck flips, and is taken out
- Then Joker and Batman have a fistfight amidst the wreckage of the street
That's gonna be one hell of an action scene. "Begins" already seems trumped! :wow:

I dont understand why Christian Bale is being a jerk to us, I waited for 3 hours outside hotel 71 and got right next to him when he walked out and said " excuse me, mr bale" and he brushed me off.
dont bother him when he's working or even after work. would you feel happy talking to a telemarketer or a sales rep after a full day's work? i dont think so. and truth to be told Bale is a private man. he is approachable, but even on a good day he's not gonna go out of his way and shake your hand (unlike what Oldman did). its just the way some people are. i'm sure you know regular folks who are like that, but you wouldnt label them as jerks would you?
Now Gary Oldman is being awsome, I yelled officer Gordan after he didnt respond to mr oldman and he looked and waved at me.
well there's your explanation then. all of these actors Nolan hired are method actors. they're all in character, even when they've climbed into bed. the only time they stop being in characters is when the film is in the can.
Scooper "A.P." on Batman-on-Film says that "they have one more night downtown and then it's back to the post office".
We got any more info on this????

Yeah, from what I read, he doesn´t mind being approached by fans on the street and stuff, but he doesn´t like being bothered during shooting, and it´s Batman, so there´s always a buncha scoopers and fans around, when he´s working, it´s all about the work.

Wheres this 3 minute close up video of a scene being shot? Someone just tried posting it at BOF but Bill "No spoilers in the spoiler forum" Ramey said "Sorry, too spoilerish for BOF. Go to SHH if you want this report." Where is this 3 minute video?

I'm coming into town Friday for the weekend for WWC. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Could we compile where we believe filming will be for those of us traveling to the windy city??

Really? Hmm I get the feeling the PA may have been pulling your leg/not know the ending himself. A chase piece that we seem to be getting seems to be more of a middle of the film thing to do IMO. I'd prefer the amusement park/factory setting for the final battle. Plus how would the chase tie into Joker kidnapping Rachel, which I think is very likely to happen at this point.
Cool reports though

huh, weird. if they were posters instead of framed portraits i'd say it was part of his campaign
looks like we're in for a fairly tragic ending, not just a cliffhanger scene

It could be a "Vote Harvey Dent" campaign thing.

if that was the case there would be slogans, balloons, pictures of him smiling...that kind of thing.
it looks like a more somber and reverent occaision
