No way in hell should Metallica be higher than Iron Maiden.
No way in hell should Metallica be higher than Iron Maiden.
1. Metallica were more innovative than maiden. They essentially created a new genre while maiden followed in the same line as preist
2. Metallica are FAR more influential than maiden.

Um, how about no? Without Iron Maiden you wouldn't have bands like Metallica, Megadeth, Anthrax, Sepultura, Testament, or Death. Metallica may be more commercial, but as a whole in terms of more innovative and more influential than Maiden? No way.

Your logic states ugh the caveman who first beat on a rock is more influential than sabbath.
1. FACT. Metallica essentially started a whole new genre of metal. Maiden essentially just followed in preist's footsteps
2. How many people got into metal or picked up an instument because of metallica as opposed to maiden? If you say maiden caused moe people to get into metal or pick up an instrument/form a band then you are truly delusional.

PIG DESTROYER have completed work on their new full-length album, Phantom Limb. PIG DESTROYER recorded Phantom Limb at Omega Studios (BAD BRAINS) in Rockville, MD under the helm of guitarist/producer Scott Hull and are currently preparing for its June 12th North American release date (June 18th internationally).
Phantom Limb, the follow-up to 2004’s wildly successful and influential Terrifyer, features 14 of “the most deranged metal songs we could come up with” says vocalist JR Hayes. The complete track listing is as follows:
1. Rotten Yellow
2. Jupiter’s Eye
3. Deathtripper
4. Thought Crime Spree
5. Cemetery Road
6. Lesser Animal
7. Phantom Limb
8. Loathsome
9. Heathen Temple
10. Fourth Degree Burns
11. Alexandria
12. Girl In The Slayer Jacket
13. Waist Deep In Ash
14. The Machete Twins
Phantom Limb’s artwork was designed by John Baizley (BARONESS, TORCHE) and previews of it can be seen via the band’s official MySpace page. Hull taunts: “Just wait until you hear it.”

Please, people acknowledge Metallica from time to time. Metallica musically was at their best during Kill Em All, Ride The Lightning, Master of Puppets, And Justice For All. No one is saying they suck or they're not great musicians, but as a whole, to say they're more influential or more innovative than Iron Maiden is clearly one of the biggest bold face lies ever.
Without Zeppelin, Sabbath, Maiden, or Priest you wouldn't have Metallica or any of the other thrash bands that came after them. A lot of your metal fans have moved on to more underground metal acts who have consistently put out great metal albums and don't conform to mainstream success.
Metallica, in my opinion, became the biggest joke to metal when they released the Some Kind of Monster DVD that shows them *****ing, whining, and acting all dramatic over a bunch of nonsense really. Metallica died when Cliff died and that's the way I felt then, and it's the way I feel now.

No one is saying they suck or they're not great musicians, but as a whole, to say they're more influential or more innovative than Iron Maiden is clearly one of the biggest bold face lies ever.Dude, common sense. Like I stated earlier, it is a FACT that metallica basically created a genre of metal, while maiden followed in someone else's footsteps, so to say maiden is more innovative than metallica is a bold faced lie, and has been shown.
It is also a FACT that metallica has influenced more people. Common sense dude, they have a larger fanbase, and more bands cite them as an influence.
Without Zeppelin, Sabbath, Maiden, or Priest you wouldn't have Metallica or any of the other thrash bands that came after them. Please refer to my post about using abc logic.
Metallica, in my opinion, became the biggest joke to metal when they released the Some Kind of Monster DVD that shows them *****ing, whining, and acting all dramatic over a bunch of nonsense really. They are human beings and human beings have problems. If anything they had more guts than anyone else who have done the same thing by recording it and making it public. You didn't see bands like megadeth recording their therapy sessions they had and releasing it....
No, an embarrassment to metal would for example be phil anselmo, single handedly responsible for breaking up the flagship band of the mid-late 90's.
Metallica died when Cliff died and that's the way I felt then, and it's the way I feel now.Jeez, not the metallica died when cliff died thing again. Bringing this up is always a sure sign of a weak point.

Once again, Metallica didn't start thrash and are not more influential or more innovative than Maiden. Sure, they're more popular and more successful in terms of commercial success than Maiden, however, when push comes to shove Metallica doesn't have the same respect that Maiden has.

See, here's the difference. You're just saying something and not backing it up. I am. There were bands such as tank and venom who had thrash elements before metallica formed, but prior to march of '81 there were no true thrash bands.

You like Metallica, and think they're the ****. Others think they're ok. Then there's some who like a few of their albums. Never liked Maiden, they just sound cheesy and never got into their whole monsters and demons lyrics which too me sound rather crap.
The reason why I like MetallicA alot is because they have evolved with age, yes they had albums like RTL and MOP, AJFA which many Metal fans love. But MetallicA like all humans do age, they are not going to do same thing all the time. I my self don't listen to music that I did way back a few years ago, example Static-X, Fear Factory, Disturbed..ect because they do not appeal to me the way they did back then or sound the same to me.
I use to also say Load and Reload were not very good, but now I love both albums and can relate to them more now. I also understand that they are older and they will play music different, they are not in their late teens and 20s anymore, their lyrics will be different.
Here are my current favorite Rock/Metal bands
MetallicA

Iron Maiden has written more songs about historical events and figures than monsters or demons.
From my perspective I learned more about Alexander The Great, William Blake, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Paschendale, Frank Herbert, and etc from Iron Maiden than I did in my history or english class. However, everyone has different likes and dislikes on what band they feel is great and not great.
Maiden always interested me because of their lyrics, the musicianship, and Bruce Dickinson's vocals inspired me to want to become a better singer and I just feel they're an overall great band.
I almost bought a Fear Factory album the other day and I changed my mind.

Has anyone heard the new Vital Remains album? The little bit I heard on MySpace didn't make me feel too excited about it. In my opinion Dawn of The Apocalypse, Forever Underground, and Dechristianize on their masterpieces.
In other metal news here is the artwork of the upcoming Iced Earth Something Wicked Concept album. As most of you know, Jon Schaffer is releasing a re-recording version of the Something Wicked trilogy with Tim Owens on vocals.
The concept story that Jon Schaffer(Rhythm Guitarist/Vocalist/Main Songwriter) created tells the tale of a demonic being that brings the Apocalypse to mankind.
Tim Owens came into the band after their third singer Matt Barlow left the band.
Here is the artwork that I was speaking of.

They're okay. There's about 2 songs by them I like: Operation Ground and Pound, and Storming the Burning Fields. People said, "Oh, listen to Valley of the Damned!" First single from ozzy's new album is up on his myspace

The new edition of the magazine Rock German Hard, made an interview with Matthew recently Barlow (former-vocalist of the Iced Earth), and in this interview it was confirmed that Matthew Barlow is coming back to the metal, as vocalista of band PYRAMAZE.
Many years if had passed since that Matthew Barlow left the Iced Earth and Matthew never in showed its point of view to them. For Rock Hard it made an exception. Optimum E is: it is not only speaking of new, but also singing! Surprising total, it joined itself to the Danish group of prog-metal Pyramaze.
I entered in contact with Matthew ace 7 of the morning. in Delaware, where it deferred payment now with its wife and its son of one year and way of age and working as policeman. Matthew is very calm and chooses the words sabiamente.
ROCK HARD: Matthew, the one that point you, for the first time, had the feeling of that being the vocal one of the Iced Earth it was not what you wanted for its future?
MATTHEW: Iced Earth was not the problem. Not even the 11 of September was the reason for my decision, but a signal, the “drop d´água”. It was at a time where I thought about what making with my life. I find that all have a period of training in the life where they think about everything. At this time I had 31 years, I was married, but he did not have financial security. The years in the Iced Earth had been excellent. The turnęs and the experiences with the fans perpetual go to be a positive memory. But it did not have firmness in the career with the Iced Earth, I really I did not have financial security, because I never had a parallel project, as the Jon, where I could make money. I had a long colloquy with my brother, who also work as policeman, and I I was certain that to become me a police age what I wanted. All that knows me can say, this is not so improper pra me. I never infringed the law, I not even I was fined by speed excess. I was never imprisoned. Others, that knew only the side cabeludo rock musician mine, perhaps had not understood. But the majority of the metal fans is very respectful. The only crime of them either to perhaps smoke one established one.
It was at the time to sign the contract for “The Glorious Burden”, when I hesitated and counted the Jon as I imagined my future. This contract would more moor me to the Iced Earth per many years. Jon and I decide that I would make the vocal ones of the “The Glorious Burden” and I would make turnę with the band, there later I I would leave. When the vocal ones had been ready, Jon one more time talked with me, and said that she was not happy with my work. Moreover, Tim Owens had left the Judas Priest and I perceived quickly what the Jon had determined with Tim.
Six months later I was for the policy academy. To leave the Iced Earth was very emotive, because Jon and I had passed for many together things. It was not easy for none of us.
ROCK HARD: It seems then that it did not have much colloquy between you and Jon. He himself finished not very saying legal things, as for example that you never if it strengtove 100% for the Iced Earth.
MATTHEW: I am certain of that it said this soon after the separation, when we are with the very strong emotions. I do not blame it. Since then in them we find some times and he does not have nothing of bad between people. I until talked with Tim Owens some times. It loves being in the Iced Earth, I love my I work, and all are happy.
ROCK HARD: As policeman, you it has a well dangerous work. How it was the reaction of its wife with its decision?
MATTHEW: Ah yes, it was worried. Especially when I was in the patrol. But we policemen well are trained. Beyond, my area is not so dangerous, exactly having places that are better you to prevent. I am not running behind criminals the time all, I I try to help the people. It is clearly that, if necessary, I would enter in one fight, but for most important me is to help the young in my area and to give they a perspective.
With certainty it has moments where I feel homesickness to be in palco, because he does not have place some where you he can feel as much adrenalin. But what I more feel lack is of being creative. It was therefore that I was interested myself in the invitation of Michael, of the PYRAMAZE. It wants to record music of high quality, but on the other hand, he does not want to be in turnę for months. I had many offers of bands, but I do not want to be in turnę for an eternity. Some festivals and shows in clubs are perfect and I can keep my job.
He also had a small interview with Michael Kammeyer of the Pyramaze in the magazine. They confer below:
ROCK HARD: Michael, as you obtained that a new and almost unknown band obtained a singer as Matthew Barlow, who already had given up the musical career?
MICHAEL: , We have some experience with American musicians well, because our tecladista lode of U.S.A., and vocal the previous one also was of there. I admit: the idea of Matthew to enter in the Pyramaze was absurd. But later that I fired Lance (former-vocalista), I had time to think regarding the substitute. My favourite person or thing in absolute was Matthew Barlow, because I am a great fan of Iced Earth, since whom vi the band in the Wacken festival. E I knew that Matthew I had a job, as well as the remaining portion of the Pyramaze, and that it does not want to know of turnęs long. Then I decided to call it, because I did not have nothing to lose. The maximum that would happen was it to say not.
ROCK HARD: But vocal the previous one sings well different of Matthew.
MICHAEL: When we made our as record, I asked for Lance to sing strong and aggressive more. I was tired of vocal clean and high tones. I want to say, we make music for we ourselves, and was clearly pra me, that ours third record would be powerful and aggressive.
ROCK HARD: You it will have to change the style to compose to incase itself to the style of the voice of Matthew?
MICHAEL: I find that not, therefore Matthew is a professional, being able to sing any sound and to give a personal touch. We do not want to seem the Iced Earth, and nobody wait that obtain. We are the Pyramaze and our new singer is Matthew Barlow, is this.

i never really liked ronnie james dio's work with sabbath that much. he's too cheesy for my tastes.
OZZY FTW !!!
Ozzy was good, but Dio to me is the definition of what Sabbath represented in terms of the mysticism, mystery, and so forth. I love some of the Ozzy material as well, it's just Dio has such a powerful voice that he simply cannot be ignored.

dio's work with sabbath kicks ass and everything , but when i think of sabbath , the REAL sabbath , i think of ozzy .
i'll give dio props for being the first one to come up with the " devil horns " sign though.

SLAYER AND MARILYN MANSON CO - HEADLINE SUMMER TOUR
Tour dates for this summer's match made in Heaven...or Hell...are announced today. MARILYN MANSON and SLAYER's 25-city co-headline North American tour will kick off on July 25 in West Palm Beach, FL, pillaging its way cross-country to wrap up in San Antonio, TX on September 1. Confirmed dates are below.
For this two-pronged-threat double bill, SLAYER and MANSON will each play full sets with BLEEDING THROUGH and one other support band, yet to be determined, opening all shows.
MARILYN MANSON just wrapped up work on his upcoming June release to be titled "Eat Me, Drink Me", which Rolling Stone magazine anticipates as "epic." Voted "Best Band in the World" by Kerrang! magazine, the army of noise behind MANSON's bitterness is at once raw and massive when witnessing him live — "rousing the crowd with focused ardor," states the New York Times.
Celebrating its 26th year together, the always-uncompromising SLAYER was recently named "Best Live Band" in SPIN's 2006 Readers' Poll, and picked up their first Grammy Award in February for "Best Metal Performance." Their latest album, "Christ Illusion" — which debuted at #5 on Billboard's albums chart — takes on the U.S. Government about the War in Iraq, prompting one newspaper to speculate, "If Thomas Jefferson were alive today, he undoubtedly would be listening to SLAYER."
Confirmed tour dates for the SLAYER/MARILYN MANSON co-headline summer tour are as follows:
Jul. 25 - Sound Advice Amphitheatre, West Palm Beach, FL
Jul. 27 - Ford Amphitheatre, Tampa, FL

COREY TAYLOR Is Working With ANTHRAX On New Album
SLIPKNOT/STONE SOUR frontman Corey Taylor has confirmed that he has been working with ANTHRAX on material for their upcoming studio album (http://roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=74063#). Speaking to Germany's Rock Hard magazine, Taylor said of the possibility that he will become the new ANTHRAX singer, "It's been bandied about. I'm not saying anything right now because all it's been is just talked about. Obviously, I'm really good friends with those guys. It kind of started as a joke. And then the more we talked about it, the more serious it got. I'm gonna at least help them out. It's kind of a dream come true — ANTHRAX is one of my favorite bands. We're just kind of taking baby steps right now. I know that we worked on about eight or nine songs together that I've written lyrics for, and there was a song that I had actually written for them that I was just gonna give them the music (http://roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=74063#) for, and once this kind of happened, I had to turn around and write lyrics for it myself. But there's nothing definite right now. It's one of those things where it's like we're just gonna kind of play it by ear and just see what happens. So there's nothing definite. It's something that we're talking about — it's something that we kind of wanna do. But I'm in two huge bands right now. So it's like I barely get enough time to sleep, let alone do another band. . . I'm gonna be busy, period. I'm just kind of honored that they would even consider me. These are people that I grew up listening to, these are guys that I had the privilege of getting to know on a real basis. To have them look at me and go, 'You know what? We would love to work with you,' it's such a huge compliment. It kind of makes me feel like I've come a long way in my life."
A video (http://roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=74063#) clip of ANTHRAX performing its cover of the PUBLIC ENEMY classic "Bring the Noise" with Corey Taylor at the 2003 With Full Force festival in Germany is available for viewing at YouTube (http://youtube.com/watch?v=dOdCwdSOMG0).
ANTHRAX announced its split with vocalist Joey Belladonna in January, less than two years after the group's classic lineup reunited for a "25th anniversary" tour. A replacement singer will officially be announced at the end of June, according to guitarist Scott Ian.
