Eva Marie Saint and her husband Jeffrey Hayden visited the Bowling Green State University in Ohio this past weekend, where they returned to campus to perform a reading from Willa Cather in honor of her late mentor Dr. Elden Smith.
Ms. Saint revealed that she is indeed signed on for the Superman Returns sequel, but does not know who the main villain will be. There have only been limited talks about what Martha Kent will be doing in the sequel, although she believes that it may involve Ma Kent meeting Lois and Jason.
Ms. Saint related that she really liked Brandon Routh and commented on how hard he worked and that he was very dedicated to the project.

It doesn't confirm anything, but it sounds good for the sequel.

if their branching out beyond contacting the main actors...that means something.

Cool.
In keep picturing a scene where Clark confides to Ma Kent how much it hurts not being able to truly be a father, but wants him to have a normal life.

Reading all the rumors/news It seems that there will be probably a little delay (the production will start in April-May and not in March 2008), but the SR sequel will happen. Routh, Spacey and Saint have confirmed to be on board.

Doesn't mean much, but I like the idea of her meeting Jason and Lois, Justice Bringer mentioned this in his sequel idea.

Well, even if Bryan Singer doesn't direct (Which I think he will), it still looks to be a continuation of SR.

Hmmm... interesting tidbit if it's true. Makes you wonder.. why would Lois be meeting Ma Kent? Perhaps Clark is bringing her and Jason home to the farm?... ... I'm putting 2 and 2 together and arriving at 5 , I know.. but perhaps this is signals Richard being written out of the storyline altogether....
Then again, maybe she's just in town and visits Clark at work.
Who knows, not enough information to draw any conclusions from.

They had a breif encounter in a deleted scene, outside of the hospital, after Lois walks out, she bumps into Martha and Martha, tells Lois she has a strong boy.

It really doesn't mean anything if Eve Marie Saint is signed on for the sequel. She could have already signed a two or three picture deal.

Doesn't mean much, but I like the idea of her meeting Jason and Lois, Justice Bringer mentioned this in his sequel idea.it means a lot. it means that at this time eva knows that a sequel will be made. of course tomorrow it can change. but today a sequel with singer and routh is supposedd to be made.

It can change, but it means something: the fact that Eva Marie Saint signed for the sequel is more concrete than a speculation of an insider.

1. She has a clause in her contract for 3 pictures, like all of the cast from SR.
2. She's friggin MARTHA KENT!
Of course she's returning, they already axed Johnathan and Jor-El, Clark would've no one to talk to.

Again, this is nothing definitive, but there seems to be more points suggesting we will get an SR sequel than not.

I thought Eva Marie Saint was good as Martha Kent and i like continuity in sequels so it's good to hear that she's signed for the sequel(s) like all the other main cast members of SR. :yay: Hopefully (if SR2 gets made) they'll keep the stuff out of her selling the farm and moving to Montana with Ben Hubbard.
Does anyone know if James Marsden and Tristan Lake Leabu inked deals for sequels too?

how is this news? We've known since before the first film that all of the actors were signed for a potential trilogy. Then again, Eric Bana was signed for 3 Hulk films so make of that what you will....

But Bana stopped talking about the Hulk franchise 3 weeks after the release date :woot:

This news is pretty old. As somebody above said, we know she is signed for a sequel and have known for months and months. We know they all are signed on, Spacey, Bosworth, Routh and so on. Singer is signed on which means Mike and Dan are signed on as well.
Don't forget though, Burton was signed on, Cage was signed on, Ratner was signed on, MCG was signed on and so on.

I'm really beginning to appreciate your subtle sarcasm. :cwink:
