One point per correct statistic in Round 1. Two for round 2, etc.
statistics? Whaaa...?
Things I'm requesting for Rounds 1 and 2 at least:
-Winner
-# of games
-Winner per game in each series
Ghostvirus
04-18-2007, 02:02 PM
Yeah, I think everybody got that. The Statistic part threw me a little. I was thinking that you wanted statistics for each player each game. That would be just crazy.
No.
So is LS1981 playing or not?

I would assume no. He has been asked several times.
He's an idiot then. :)
I'm making him stay in this, but I'll just have it to where the Mavs sweep every series. I'm sure he'd think that SHOULD happen anyways. :)

I believe that the Bulls are going to make it in the second round this year. I think that if the Spurs are going to beat Mavericks in the playoffs should they play each other.

1) Detroit Pistons def. 8) Orlando Magic
2) Cleveland Cavaliers def. 7) Washington Wizards
6) New Jersey Nets def. 3) Toronto Raptors
4) Miami Heat def. 5) Chicago Bulls
Western Conference
8) Golden State Warriors def. 1) Dallas Mavericks
7) Los Angeles Lakers def. 2) Phoenix Suns
3) San Antonio Spurs def. 6) Denver Nuggets
5) Houston Rockets def. 4) Utah Jazz
btw, rockets are 5th seed, not 4th. they just have homecourt advantage because of their better record.

I was actually hoping for this to. If you really think the Heat are just going roll in, & win you got another thing coming. I wouldn't be surprised if the Bulls swept them.
I hate to break this to you J. The Heat are just to damn old. Even if they do get past Chicago. They aren't beating Detroit.
The Riddler

really, the lakers match up well with the suns.
i especially like farmar starting in place of smush.
as for the warriors, they are going to put up points no matter who they play against. they beat the mavs by overhwhelming dirk with multiple speedy defenders and putting up an insane amount of points.
the warriors offense is so good right now, they can potentially outgun the suns if they play at their best. if it ever gets to that, that is.

We'll see.
So you were hoping for Chicago to get slated into a spot where they'll have to go through Miami and then Detroit, instead of them starting off with Washington, having homecourt for at least the first two rounds and not having to see the Pistons, Heat or Cavs until the ECF? OK.

Farmar should have gotten the nod much earlier and Smush should have been playing for the D-Fenders. I don't see Parker faring much better than he did in last year's playoffs and Farmar could have used the experience to get ready to better contribute.

reasons why the rockets can win it all.
1. team defense
2. half court style + slower pace
3. two super star mold plus good supporting players (battier, luther head, mutumbo, howard)
4. yao ming = matchup problems
as good as mcgrady is, yao is the rockets' mvp. he alone poses a defensive mismatch. double or triple team him and leave shooters open, or single cover him and get burned by him.
i really favor teams with dominant big men because of what they do to defenses.

Seriously, why has it taken this long for Farmar to crack the starting 5. This man was a freak at the pre-draft mini camps, seemed to be picking up everything well and they just let him drift. Parker's been inconsistent at best, then starts slacking and *****ing to Phil and now they throw the kid into the fire for the playoff push. It's the right decision, but doing it weeks ago would have everything for the better, especially since Farmar is a far better playmaker than Smush.
God, Parker mouthed off after a loss on how he had a good game despite the L and still had fun. I wanted to smack him. You wear the purple and gold, son. Look up in the rafters and have some respect. :whatever:

the bulls to be in the finals?
it's near impossible because they don't have a couple things.
1. no closer. yeah, ben gordon is the closest thing they have to a closer, but he can't do it consistently. sometimes he's hot, sometimes he doesn't show up at all. that can't happen if you're going to the finals.
2. no offensive inside prescence. ben wallace is a good defender, but he's declined overall and he can't score. the bulls are primarily a jump shooting team, and enless you're on all the time, it's very difficult.

wrong... when Yao went down ..TMAC carried the team.... when TMAC went down Yao COULDNT.. tmac is key..... and you better thank god yall dont play the Lakes cause Kobe loves Lockin TMAC and DUNKIN on Yao...
but you do have valid points.... EXCLLENT POINTS.. thing is ... DEPTH wins ships.... SA and DAL can throw a couple big men at yao and get him in foul trouble..have good defneders to annoy TMAC.. you will have to rely on your role players and honestly though its a nice squad.... i wouldnt put my trust in those guys.. and PHX will just run yall ragged

mcgrady is definitely a better playmaker (since he's a guard/forward) and more valuable when having to carry a team by himself, but yao has the bigger impact when they're both healthy because he draws so much defensive attention.
as for the suns, the teams probably won't meet enless it's in the WCF.
depth is the rocket's biggest weakness, but they have to rely on their two stars to make up for that. it'll be interesting to see how it all plays out.

Eastern Conference
8) Orlando Magic @ 1) Detroit Pistons - Pistons in 4
7) Washington Wizards @ 2) Cleveland Cavaliers - Cavaliers in 5
6) New Jersey Nets @ 3) Toronto Raptors - Nets in 7
4) Miami Heat @ 5) Chicago Bulls - Bulls in 7

6) Denver Nuggets @ 3) San Antonio Spurs - Spurs in 6
4) Utah Jazz @ 5) Houston Rockets - Rockets in 6
* I'd like to add three notes...
a) I really think the Magic can win one game .. I just noticed I didn't have any sweeps and someone ALWAYS sweeps so I picked the one I thought had the best chance.
b) I think Wade doesnt play as well as they need him to or (I really hope not for J's sake, but I got an inclining) that he somehow will not be up to par.
c) My HEART PICK is Lakers in 7 :woot:

HERE ARE THE STATISTICS I NEED VIA PM IF YOU WANT IN ON THE POOL:

i mean if you pick suns in 5 lakers can win game 1-5 you have a slim chance of gettin it right.. shouldnt we wait for each specific game to decide whos gonna win that night... ummm nvrmind i guess yer right
Then what's the point of the playoff pool without some wild guesses? :hyper:

1 point per correct pick for round 1, 2 for round 2, etc.

My Predictions
Eastern Conference
8) Orlando Magic @ 1) Detroit Pistons - Pistons in 5
( DET, DET, ORL, DET, DET)
I think giving Orlando a game is quite generous.
7) Washington Wizards @ 2) Cleveland Cavaliers - Cavaliers in 4
( CLE, CLE, CLE, CLE)
Lets face it. If Butler, & Zero would have gone out earlier they wouldn't even be in the playoffs. Get out the broom stick washuptington.
6) New Jersey Nets @ 3) Toronto Raptors - Nets in 5
( NJ, TOR, NJ, NJ, NJ )
XP points will win this series.
4) Miami Heat @ 5) Chicago Bulls - Bulls in 6
(CHI, CHI, MIA, MIAMI, CHI, CHI)
As scared of Miami as I should be. I really am not. Maybe I will be near the end of the series.
Western Conference
8) Golden State Warriors @ 1) Dallas Mavericks - WARRIORS in 7
(DAL, GS, GS, GS, DAL, DAL, GS)
My spidey senses are tingling with an upset in this series. All logic says not to pick the Warriors. I just can't stop the funny feeling though.
7) Los Angeles Lakers @ 2) Phoenix Suns - Suns in 5
(PHX, PHX, LAL, PHX, PHX)
Sorry Rekal, but giving LA one game is generous. LA just seems tore up.
6) Denver Nuggets @ 3) San Antonio Spurs - Spurs in 5
(SAS, SAS, DEN, SAS, SAS)
I really have nothing to say here. I really don't care about either of these teams.
4) Utah Jazz @ 5) Houston Rockets - ROCKETS in 6
(HOU, HOU, UTA, HOU, UTAH, HOU)
I picked Houston, but I wouldn't be surprised to see UTAH win it.

.
no worries bro..i picked the same way.. i just dont see kobe going out without EXPLODING in one game..thats why i gave them one...PHX is playin good ball and now has an inside presence with amare and kurt..
Kwame is banged up and Bynum is pretty much mental garbage... our chances inside rest on Rony and Cook...which looks meek... our only hope is that Farmar finds his own RIGHT NOW... thats the only way we contend... I just dont see it..I'm a RABID Lakers fans as all y'all know... but I keep it real too

Yeah...but I just look at it this way.
Nothing to lose and out of all the teams in the West, so far we've given the Mavs the most trouble, dating back to last year. Last five games against them. 5-0.
I know the playoffs are a different story, but everyone on the Warriors is 100% healthy so we're if we go down, we're making sure the Mavs are burnt out.
My only concern about the Warriors, they live and die by the three, if it's not there, we're done.

4. Jazz vs. 5. Rockets Rockets 4-3 I think by far this is the closest match up in all of the playoffs. Rockets have been playing well and seem really healthy, the Jazz have stumbled a bit but have an excellent coach and all around a pretty deep team. Good series right here, it could go either way imho.
It seems most feel Nets will win against the Raps. I wouldv'e prefered if Raptors played Wizards in the first round but I'm going to say that the Raptors beat the Nets in 7. This season was split 2-2 between them, each winning at home. I think the same will occur in this playoff series.

Its always better to make your finals picks before the playoff starts, just like in football.
I didn't do that for my NFL pool.
BUT we could do this. 10 bonus points to the person who picks the CORRECT Finals matchup.

I would be lying if I said I knew the Warriors were going to win. Of course I was rooting for them the whole time but I just thought that Dallas was going to say f-this. We are making a statement right here right now, this is the playoffs not the regular season. Hello reality check to the Warriors.

I agree to...sort of. For some reason I just don't see the Heat as a threat. I just look at them as a retirement home for old ass NBA players. All the players on that team used to be great at one time, but there time has passed, & the only one that is young, & could remotely help them is still recovering.
I just don't see this series as being all that some are making it out to be. If the Bulls were to lose this series I would be greatly dissappointed, because the Heat are not the better team this year.
Wade isn't what he was in the playoffs last year...
I noticed the Under Armour arm sleeve.

Believe me I'm not, the Bulls still have to prove they can win on the road in the playoffs. But right now the best move Paxson has made was not trading Deng when seemingly everyone was saying he should. He was the go-to guy in the late 3rd and early 4th quarters when Miami looked like they were going to make a huge run and take the lead. I believe at one point he scored the Bull's last 14 points or something like that. I'm not saying the series is over, just that without Deng, who knows where the Bulls would be.

Goodness. The boys got it handed to them tonight. Damn lack of intensity in the 3rd quarter did it again. They just got flat out-hustled. I'm starting to remember why we ran Eddie Jones out of town a few years back.
Chicago did a damn fine job of holding home court and now Miami has to do the same. Posey needs to start and Kapono needs to get the lion's share of minutes at the 3 behind that. I'd like to see Dorell get some spot minutes (though it won't happen). He won't give much offense, but the boy can rebound and play D and we need it, big time).
This team always seems to find a way to be quality ball when backed into a corner. Time to channel it again.
Let's go Heat!

I was pissed at first, then I looked at it as the Bulls have at least a top ten pick in the draft this year. So basically by the start of next season we will have at least Garnett, or Gasol. Gauranteed.

I wonder when James "Thug" Posey pulls his next attack on the Bulls. I thought it might come last night out of frustration. But that "flagrant" fould that was called on Brown was bull****. He hardly breathed on Posey and he goes flying. I know what some people say ("some people" read as Heat fans) "Oh he just plays hard, thats the way to play."
Well Noicioni plays hard too, but he isn't out there breaking noses, throwing elbows or trying to take Kirk Hinrich's head off on a fast break.

If the Warriors can't break open a good lead, and as long as they stay within 4-6 points they have a chance. They seem to take shots way too early though. But if Dallas gets a good lead going, then Dallas has it. The Warriors shot selection is just not that good. But they put up enough 3 pointers to have a puncher's chance.

Didn't watch the game. How close was it? Either way the series is 1-1 and far from over. I know posters like MC and a few others want the Mavs to lose so I can supposedly "lose my mind".
Yeah, MC, you have a right to be happy and confident since your team is up 2-0 against them. Guess what? Dallas had them 2-0 as well and still lost to them in finals, so I suggest that you don't get so arrogant as well.
Bottom line? I know it's just a game. No conspiracy, no stupid rants, it is what it is and whoever wins the championship will earn it. Yes I want my favorite team to go all the way this year but they'll have to earn it.
May the best team win.
I will say that I find it slightly amusing that whenever the Mavs win the naysayers want to overlook them, call them weak, overrated, and ignore the success they've EARNED. Yet when they lose one or two games then they're "through" or "Dirk isn't a leader". :whatever:
In closing I have this for MC and for Farmer in response to their childish antics.

Conspiracy? Basketball would be like the last possible game to have some kind of fix going on. There almost for sure would have been officials anonymously leaking stuff out, and everything. You thought the Heat won because of a fix or conspiracy? The Heat were down 2 games I believe, not even horrible one sided officiating can win 4 games, and as far as I can remember, there wasn't a whole lot of controversial calls, maybe two or three, but thats the same for any game really. You really thought something was going on?

Yes, Dallas was up two games against the Heat. There are some calls that went down in the series that I felt favored the Heat. In the end Dallas was up 2-0 and shouldn't have been in the situation of losing the championship.
What's done is done, what's in the past is in the past. All I can hope for as a fan is for Dallas to go all the way again this year and win the trophy.

He missed one crucial free throw. Josh Howard missed two of them and mistakenly called a time-out that didn't allow them to advance the ball half-court.
It's true those calls go both ways, however, I don't feel favortisim has a place in any sport let alone basketball you know? But in the end Dallas made costly mistakes and they COULD'VE had their first championship.
On a side note, I wish Kenny, Charles, and Ernie would stop acting like goofs and actually talk about basketball in an intelligent manner for once. At least Tim Legler, Greg Anthony, and Stephen A. Smith TALK about basketball, talk about stats, and debate great material when it comes to the game.

Again you are the reason I hate the Mavs. Everytime I watch one of there games. I can't help but see a bunch of little whiny b**ches that think they deserve something they haven't yet earned.
Watching Cuban near the end of the first game was like watching a child from a distance throw a quiet tantrum because he didn't get what he wanted. I wouldnt mind seeing the Warriors go far... IF the Heat are taken out by the Bulls... i think the only team that can beat the Heat in the West is the Mavs... thats the only reason i root for the mavs...
GO LAKERS!!!!!!!!!!!!! :csad:
Yeah, so where are those who were talking crap now? Nothing to say already? I realize it's a 1-1 situation but, Jesus Christ, some of you just disappear when the Mavs make you eat crow eh?
I'm going to say two things:
1) It's 1:30 A.M. my time when you posted that. Half of the country, probably more than half, is sleeping. Durr.
2) I've said this to you once before, and I'll say it once again: Shut the hell up.
If you're going to act like everyone is against the Mavs, as you did in the NBA thread, then don't post. We don't care. I respect batman44 because he is a great sport. But when the Mavs lose, you just go in hiding.

If you're going to act like everyone is against the Mavs, as you did in the NBA thread, then don't post. We don't care. I respect batman44 because he is a great sport. But when the Mavs lose, you just go in hiding.
:down
Wrong. I've been a good sport about the games lately. Mavs lost one game to the Warriors, Mavs lost two games to the Suns, and I moved on. No big deal and even if they lose to the Warriors they're still getting paid more than one. So whatever.
You are against the Mavs. Batman44 is a great sport, he is an intelligent fan and I enjoy talking to him. I just find it hysterical that when I post an intelligent contribution and speak about my knowledge of the game, posters like you will ignore it and will hold a grudge against me which is fine. I do know the game of basketball, I love the game of basketball, and I'm very knowledgeable about the history of it and the importance of it. You choose to ignore it? That's up to you.
Just because I'm not posting right away doesn't mean I'm hiding. I have a life outside of these boards, so forgive me if I don't post right away. I guess you'll go into "hiding" should the Magic tie the series up. :yay:
So you can put that in your pipe and smoke it slappy.
Jerry!

When the Mavs make us eat crow? Aren't they supposed to win these games?
And if the Heat do come back and win the series against the Bulls, they earned it. I don't like Shaq all that much, but I do really admire the way Wade plays. If the Bulls aren't in it at the end, I would like to see the Suns win it.
I don't like the Mavs not because of the fans as much as because of Mark Cuban. The guy is just a tool. I remember after I believe it was Michael Finley left the team, he opened up some kind of website or something that invited Mavs fans to bash him. He's just an all around ass.
NOFX!!!! I am coming for you!!!:cmad:
I got too much game! Besides heat will win there next two games!!! Bank on it!
