Thew movie is octopussy. this has got to be the worst james bond film ive ever seen, even worse then die another day. they made bond dress as a freakin clown and it was not only hystercal, it was utterly the worst bond moment ive ever witnessed! cmon, imagine sean connery doing this, you cant! not even brosnan, and forget dalton! terrible.

Moonraker and Octopussy did have great theme songs, much better than the songs that dominated the Pierce Brosnan era. I'd much rather listen to Shirley Bassey's "Moonraker" or Rita Coolidge's "All Time High" than Madonna's Die Another Day crap.

The scene is centered around Bond trying to disarm the bomb in clown makeup, however everyone else thinks its one big joke, thus addding an underlying tension to the whole scene.
Here is Bond trying to save everyone from utter and complete death, and everyone in the audience is laughing at him.
As I said before, Ian Fleming wrote a somewhat similar scenario where Bond is dressed up as a clown battling another man dressed up as a clown. And the audience watching it is eating it up, not knowing that they are basically fighting to the death.
Do you not see the dynamics of both scenarios.

Grest post, Furious Styles.
There's already a thread I made for Octopussy, which I myself love. The clown sequence is one of the tensest Bond moments ever.

Can you not see the dramatic irony of a man dressed as a clown trying to convince people there is a bomb in the circus?
Can you not appreciate the even greater irony of that man being Roger Moore? For once, he is being completely serious (he's desperate), and no-one believes him except the audience. This scene would not work as well with any other Bond actor.
If you cannot enjoy anything in a film besides face value, go and watch Die Another Day.

Octopussy is awesome. One of the best of the series.
That scene where Bond tries to warn the army and disarm the bomb while dressed as a clown was genuinely tense and brilliantly done, IMO.

Exactly. And that's not even the climax! It's so dramatic that you'd think it couldn't be topped - but then you have Bond on top of an aeroplane.....incredible stunt.

Obviously you've never seen Moonraker... or A View to a Kill... I shudder just thinking about the sex scene with mayday or whatever the hell her name was...
No, if Octopussy is the worst Bond film you've ever seen, then you've been quite lucky.

I'll say two things. First off Octopussy is a great Bond movie. Second off, I think it's symbolically significant that it was Roger Moore in the clown suit, as he always was kind of the comic relief Bond.

Nothing, I repeat, Nothing, is worse than Die Another Day.
Not even A View to a Kill (Although it's pretty close).
Granted, Octopussy isnt my favourite Bond, but it's far from being the worst.
