"The end of "Superman Returns (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/superman_returns/)" left Lex Luthor and Kitty Koslowski stranded on a desert island in the middle of nowhere. Though plans for sequel "Superman:The Man of Steel" suggest Superman will battle new villains, Parker Posey (http://www.rottentomatoes.com/p/parker_posey/) hopes they make at least one reference to her character.
"I would love to be there if only briefly," she said. But this is just wishful thinking. "I don't think so. I don't know though. I haven't heard. I don't think so."

Good find, Showtime.
Yeah, Lex needs to be almost entirely left out of MOS, just enough to suggest where he's going with the third movie since Lex knowing about Supes son has to be dealt with at some point. She did great in the movie and provided some of the genuinely lighter moments. I hope she gets a chance.

I wouldn't mind Lex as a sidebar, helping Superman against Brainiac after he tools them both.

I think most fans(me included) want Supes to handle Brainiac alone. Lex should be the threat that Supes/Clark, Lois, and Richard have to handle.

Either way is fine for me, but I don't think Lex is going anywhere personally.

actually.....kitty's character was one of the highlights of the film. I actually felt something for her. And Richard, too. The rest of the lot.....not so much.
i'd think she would make a good Lois too......perhaps even better than bosworth.......

That is all well and good, but she would have made for a much better Lois and there really isnt' an argument there based on her past roles.

It's not that I didn't appreciate Bosworth, I just think Posey would be a better continuation of the Margot Kidder Superman, which is what they were doing.

She hasn't heard anything because there wont be a sequel to last years disaster... You know for a fact that no matter who else is the badguy in the movie that Lex, and his henchmen will be in it again if a sequel is to be made.
I mean it would be wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to big of a plot hole to leave him stranded on that tiny ass island.
Other then him eater her im sure they get off, and Lex with the help of other badguys will be who Superman battles in any sequel to SR.
But I really think that the sequel just simply won't ever happen....

Yeah I agree. Warner is going to look at budget estimates for Man of Steel, then look at SR's lackluster box office performance and abandon the sequel.
Now singer can move on to milk another comic book icon like the parasite he is.

I wouldn't mind Lex as a sidebar, helping Superman against Brainiac after he tools them both.
I'd only want to see Lex if he is manipulating the situation, playing both sides against each other and showing what a master manipulator he is. It really wouldn't suprise me to see Singer do this...Of course, this would have to be done extremely well...otherwise it will come off as campy like in Superman 2....of course knowing Singer, I could see it playing out in a manner almost identical to that of Superman 2.

That is alot of "of coursing". I think it can be pulled off and I don't think there was anything wrong with the way that Lex was potrayed by Spacey, he just needs a more sleek angle in the sequel.
hehe I guess it is. I don't think it was Spacey's acting that was the problem but the way he was written. I just don't think Lex should've been an insane version of Donald Trump.

Yeah, I was talking about Trump in the real-estate sense. I actually do agree some of Trump's Machavellian methods would be a good fit for Luthor.

Me being a SUPERMAN fan is why I am happy if they don't make a sequel to that farce that came out last year.
It was a terrible movie, and all it did was tarnish the Superman legacy.

The producers of SV recently said they are avoiding going down that route due to the film division. Welling's only chance to don the tights as Superman may be if his franchaise replaces Routh's on the big screen.

What Justice Bringer said was on the money... Except I think Smallville will go 8 seasons, and then end it's run.
But yes Welling said he would love to do the movie but not if it cost his friends on the show their job because the movie which McG was doing was going to have a whole new cast around Welling, and it would be the end of the show or he would have to do both at the same time, and that was just not do-able.
So Welling told McG that he would love to do the movie but only if they used the rest of the shows cast which wasn't happening.
It's called loyalty, and it's a Superman quality that Welling showed if you ask me.
Besides McG is one of the biggest hacks in the history of Hollywood... Why would ANYONE want to work with him? Oh wait wasn't McG who first brought in Routh for testing? heh yep from one hack to the next. (Singer)
Originally Welling said that he wasn't very intrested in playing SUPERBOY on tv because it had been done before, and he didn't want to do another Superboy show like the one done in the early 90's... Can't blame him that show was terrible.
But once he read the script for Smallville he was all in, and I myself saw him interview for Entertainment Tonight during season 2 of Smallville, and he was asked if he would be intrested in doing a Superman movie after the show, and he said "it would be an honor if that happened..."
I saw that with my own eyes my friend so can't nobody tell me that he didn't want to do the movie... The problem was that Singer wanted to cast a Chris Reeve look alike so he could continue the Donner/Reeve movies.
So instead of giving this generation a big screen version of THEIR Superman he went back in time, and he tried to replace Reeve, and the cast of the original movies, and he brought out an outdated, and very flawed franchise, and sugar coated it.
Those movies were good in the 70's due to the cast it had, and without that cast those movies wouldn't have worked... Case in point Superman Returns... Same universe sort of speak, and look different cast replacing Donners cast, and look at what we got!
A Total farce... Time to stop messing around with the fans, and give us a real Superman movie with a cast that looks the part! Especially the guy in the blue tights.
Routh looks like a water down version of Chris Reeve when he was playing Clark Kent at the Daily Planet but without the acting chops to back it up, and he looked down right laughable as Superman.
That is NOT what was needed for this generation...
This is why Singer fails...

On the Welling-Routh debate I'm glad Welling is playing Clark on TV and that Routh is playing Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent on film. Tom has a look and voice that plays younger than he is. That's why he suits the show. And Brandon has the looks, voice and acting ability to play the parts in film. I know it wasn't just me that thought so but even so the main thing is he made me believe. It was one of the things I was afraid that I might not be able to do beforehand. I was extremely happy when I could.
On the Kitty thing I'm prepared to wait and see. Because it doesn't worry me who the villains will be until I see them I'll admit.

its doing bad? :huh:No, it's not. Stop by the SV forum for real info if you're curious, but so far to date, SV has been CW's #1 scripted show.
As to the other SV poop in this thread, *sigh*. There has been NO official statement or quote confirming Welling was ever even offered the role, never less having turned it down. Get your "facts" straight, people. Everything has either been rumored, extrapolated, or fanwanked. Anytime the question has been presented point blank to Welling, he dodges his response by saying SV would have been canceled for him to accept the role. Read into that what you will. The show has one, *maybe* two seasons left - if CW wants to stretch it. All bets are off after that.
Edit: Just saw C.Lee's post. :O
