*cough* Ezekiel *cough*

EDIT: I actually doubt that I'll put Mantis on a team for a little while. The logistics just don't work out. How does a 15 year-old balance schoolwork, teamwork, and his solo hero career? He needs more freedom before making such a commitment.
Fair enough.
Let's just hope that cold spreads to the other RPGers. :cwink::up:

My second character, however, is out of school and wide open for team-ups...

...but alas, we cannot have 2 characters until Season 2. :down

EDIT: Ezekiel is Cyrusbales' character. And I will never refer to that godforsaken Marvel abnormality because he's linked to the totem bulls***.

Create a Hero/Villain RPG SEASON I

Screen Name: Master Bruce

Character you have created: The Scarab

Alias: Jason Raines

Speech Color (actually say what you're using, don't go "Like this", or what not): Navy, Bold

Character Alignment: Hero/Villain Hero

Identity: Secret/Known Secret

Character Personality(Give information on how your character acts, what he/she believes in, how they handle situations): Jason is what I consider to be someone who's trying to redeem himself. He's done alot of bad things to people over the years, and this new chance at life is his way of making up for that. However, he's by no means a saint. The death of his father still leaves him embittered at the world, and thus, makes him unpredictable, at this early stage in his career. However, he's kept in line by his mentor in alot of respects, often having to force Jason to look at the bigger picture of what he's doing. This isn't about him, it's about the people he protects. And that's a lesson Jason is still learning.

Origin Info/Details: In the 1940's, a dark time passed through the city of Chicago, as it's residents were plagued by the threat of the mafia force and criminal masterminds. But in the shadow of the night lied a legendary masked hero, known as The Scarab, who's pulp-inspired vigilance combined with his law-abiding morals gave the people of Chicago a reason to no longer fear their very way of life. But when The Scarab's longtime enemy, The Macabre Mastermind, came out of hiding after a slew of defeats in The Scarab's early days, the criminal somehow achieved a feat so dire and so devastating that The Scarab, who's identity was never revealed, ultimately gave up his mission and went into seclusion, leaving Chicago's fate to the criminals. Some presume the costumed crimefighter to be long dead, perhaps even perishing the very night of The Macabre Mastermind's return. Either way, it's citizen's moved on, and that generation of heroism was believed to be long since dead with it's protector.

Forty years have passed, and Chicago has hit hard times yet again. With a society unbalanced and a police force lost in corruption and powerless resources, crime seems to have taken the city's once respected history and shattered it. A definite aide to the problem lies in a young street pick-pocket named Jason Raines, the son of one of the city's leading officers in a tragic irony. Partnered with a young hood, Jason makes a living off of the misfortune of others, making ends meet through innocent people's purses or wallets, usually. Covering by passing his expenses off as a daytime job, Jason has hidden his rebellious life from his father, who has demanded and even pleaded for his son to set an example for his generation. Though Jason doesn't take this advice seriously, it's only a short time later that he learns a lesson that seeks to change his ways. His father, an officer that's apart of the Swat Team, is horrifically gunned down during a shootout as a result of a gang hostage situation. Devastated by the loss, aswell as never getting the chance to admit how low of a criminal he really was to his father, Jason vows to change his ways by using his father's will to enroll in the police academy, honoring his final wishes.

Unknown to Jason, however, his commanding instructor has eyed him for sometime, even knowing his criminal past through detective work. It is only when Jason is a week away from graduation that he learns that he's not being trained to become an officer of the law... He's being trained for something much more elite, and effecient, to combat the forces of evil. Jason learns that his instructor, the elderly Richard Carlyle, was actually the vigilante known as The Scarab at one time. Carlyle has been seeking out a protege to carry on the mantle, after he was stricken ineffecient with a leg injury that sent him into retirement. At first opposing this style, seeing vigilantes just as crooked as the criminals that murderered his father, Jason soon realizes how much the city needs it's crimefighter again. Donning a new costume, with a new age of technology at his side, Carlyle trains Jason to become The Scarab for a new age!

Hero Type: (Select one)

Gray Matter (Super-smart characters)

Power Level (Select one below):

2. City Level (Ex. Spider-man, Cyclops)

Powers (Be Specific):

Attributes (Select one at each category:
Strength Level: 10

Speed/Reaction Timing Level: 20

Endurance at MAXIMUM Effort: 2

Agility: Normal 5X

Intelligence: Average

Fighting Skill: Trained

Resources: Large

Weaknesses (If your stats chosen are deemed powerful enough by a Game Master with no weakness, the character will fall under rules of Level 3 and 4 characters. Even with a weakness, a Game Master may rule it as a Level 3 or 4 character): Jason isn't a superpowered hero. Thus, he is succumbed to most coventienal weaknesses. Heat, injury, toxins, ect. However, he is formidable at avoiding injury... though definitely not completely invulnerable to making mistakes. The Scarab's primary weakness is his own rage, as he still walks a line from evil to good, sometimes allowing his emotions to get the better of him.

Supporting Characters(Does your character have a significant other? A mother? Friend? Who are they, what do they have to do with your character?): Richard Carlyle (Mentor/Friend); Carl Raines (Father/Deceased); Virginia Raines (Mother/Deceased); Sally Raines (Sister/Deceased); Karen Lynch (Fellow Officer/Romantic Interest); Julian Gigante/Energis (Former Associate/Enemy); Nick Sutton (Reporter/Rival); Kirsten Baker (Ex-Girlfriend/Enemy)

Three reasons why you have chosen that character:

1. I created him. And, truthfully, he was the first character I ever put any thought into. He's the first hero I created, long before Sharkman ever entered the picture.

2. We have our world's versions of Captain America, The Flash, and Spider-Man already. I think it's time we had a Batman. (Or at least, a vigilante without superpowers)

3. I was always fascinated by the concept of a hero who's become a hero after being less of a person, morally. Essentially, Jason was everything that The Scarab would've fought against, and it's a harsh reminder to him that his mentor, were he still a hero, probably would've taken him down in an earlier point of his life.

Write two complete sentences using proper English grammar explaining what you think you can bring to the RPG: I like to think I'm a decent writer, aswell as one of the original contributors to this RPG, as a player. I want to use this character to get back into the game, aswell as tell the kind of stories I've been searching for an outlet to use in telling them.

How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as needed.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:

[FONT=Verdana]Sample Origin Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue):

Life was something no one should've taken for granted.

That was a harsh lesson that Jason Raines was now learning, as he stood amongst the mourners, and police officials, in the pouring rain as the priest's words of comfort fell upon deaf ears. In the center of the open field lied a casket, basked in flowers and momentos of a career that Jason never truly appreciated until now. The career of his father, the police officer. A hero to many. A man of endless principals.

And a son he could never be proud of.

That was all that had remained on the young man's mind, the moment he had recieved the call. They had tried to make it brief, and simple, to dull the pain... but it was still as wrenching, and unforgiving as the moment it manifested itself within. Jason was hurting far more than he should have, for all of the crap he had put his father through, over the years. He should've been happy his dad was finally freed of it. But he wanted more. He wanted answers... he wanted to be at peace with his dad, and himself.

And he was going to get it. He didn't know how, but someway, he was going to get what his father deserved. He would retribute the errors of his ways, and make himself into a man that Carl Raines could've looked upon with a smile, and said "that's my boy", like he did before, in a lie.

"Excuse me. Jason? Jason Raines?"

Jason looked up, as he suddenly found himself staring at the altar of a church, a week after the ceremony. His father had always come to this place for guidance, and reassurance that he wasn't a screwup. Maybe Jason was hoping to find that same answer, somewhere along the lines. But now, he was staring at the face of a man he had never seen before. And it wasn't God.

"Yeah,", Jason hesitantly responded. "I'm him. What do you want?"

The man smiled, and extended his hand. Jason simply stared at it, coldly.

"I knew your father, boy. He was a great man. Saved my life, once, even."

Jason looked up, without emotion, before turning back to the altar.

"He saved alot of people.", Jason responded. "What do you want from me?"

"Perhaps I should start with who I am. My name is Richard Carlyle... I was a friend of your father's, actually. We were on the force together."

"Good for you,", Jason answered, angrily. "Now leave me alone. I don't want to speak to anyone."

Carlyle looked upon the altar.

"Sometimes, son, we don't have that choice."

Jason's eyebrow shot up.

"Yeah... well, I do."

"But you don't want to. Do you?"

"Look, what do you-"

"I'm not here to waste your time, Jason. I'm here to tell you that you can better spend it by doing something useful. I know how your father died... and I know the rage that you're going through, right now."

Carlyle placed a hat atop his head, and slowly made his way towards the exit, as Jason watched on, confused.

"Maybe it'd be better for everyone if you used that rage for something more than cursing at yourself, every once in awhile."

In an instant, Carlyle was gone, leaving Jason with his thoughts. He didn't know who the man was, or why the hell he should've even cared, but he knew one thing...

He had a point.

No. You did with your obvious ignorance of the subject. Mantis would be there for the initial threat, but he wouldn't be a team member until his Senior Year (Season IV), at the earliest, I would think.

Especially since in Season II or III, he's joining the football team (Smallville rip-off), so he'll have even less free time.

I'm always open for team-ups - speaking of which, a PM might be in order soon :ninja: - but the logistics of a teenager being on a superhero team don't add up.

Even though he's 16 going on 17, Blacklight's been a superhero for years. There's no way he's not qualified enough to not be in the big leagues. Not saying that you're saying he isn't but you know what I mean.

Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:

http://img142.imageshack.us/img142/2568/cahmu1.png

Sample Origin Post (Minimum Four paragraphs containing dialogue):

Just so they don't miss it.

As for teams and suchlike, I feel that a team should be brought together FOR a threat, like a one off banding, in a similar way to marvel: UA was done etc etc. Now what could be the threat here..... hmmmm..... tricky one.....

And remember when we mentioned a GM should take up an additional STRIKE character to help things along, I may find myself seeing people's thoughts on this, because it is really needed for co-ordination etc, and with Kaboom being MIA at the mo, we need a STRIKE presence.

And one more thing, seriously MB, thanks for last night.
