Wait to insult people that do that at High Schools.:o
Keep up with posts I just said not that long ago that I plan to talk to her more. That starts on Jan 3 when that class resumes.
The chance isn't small it's high. Um more like saying I have a crush on her, asking her out in front everyone, or saying I love her would accomplish that.
Are you in love with her? :csad:

Yeah in high school, they sold carnations outside the lunch room, it was juvenile then too.
Oh I read where you said, you plan on talking to her more, but instead of planning for a big holiday, why don't you cut to the chase and just ask her out first?

How about you learn how to explain yourself better and quit changing the story of what you intend to do as you go along? It'd make it a lot easier for everyone to figure out what the hell you are talking about. Also, the Titans are going to get an ass-whipping in their first playoff game.

No, not really. It's just when I get flowers and a card for a female in my life (dating, or family, or friend) I try to get them a card that has a joke or picture or something that they like, or an inside joke between us so it seems more personal. I am not jumping the gun. Also I plan to give her the gifts. If I wanted to just fail I wouldn't try at all because that's guranteed to fail. I would rather take chances to succeed. If I fail well then I failed trying.
You are jumping the gun. You don't plan on buying gifts for people whose name you do not even know.
Ok, I have a doctorate, and am used to reading legal mumbo jumbo that most humans can't decipher...but I honestly have no freaking clue what you just said to me there...
You have a JD. That doesn't count. :p :p :p
Ok I am going to say this one last time. I have been explaining myself but aparently I have keep repeating myself.
1.I plan to find out her name.
2.I talk to her more.
3.I get to know her more.
4.I give her the 2 gifts.
I think everyone understands the plan. They just think it needs revising.
Try this one on for size:
Week 1. Introduce myself to nice, attractive girl in class and inquire as to her name.
Week 2. Make small talk with <insertgirl'snamehere> before/after class about music, movies, books, etc. to find out what sort of interests she has and if we have any in common.
Week 3. Ask <insertgirl'snamehere> if she'd like to get coffee/a soda with me after class one day. If she says she can't, inquire if there is another time we could get together. If she seems hesitant, makes a lot of excuses or says no, chalk it up to giving it a good try. If she says yes, proceed to Week 4.
Week 4. Have coffee/soda with <insertgirl'snamehere> and talk more. If I'm having a good time and she seems to be having a good time... ask her out on a date (dinner, perhaps?) and proceed to Week 5. If I'm not feeling it or she seems disinterested, tell her I had a nice time and chalk it up to giving it the college try.
Week 5. Go on a date with <insertgirl'snamehere>. If it goes well, ask for another date and continue to Week 6. If I'm not feeling it or she seems to not be feeling it, chalk it up as having given it a go, but not being the right one.
Week 6. Go on another date... and also, having gotten together with the girl at least a couple times out of class, start considering that it would be nice to get <insertgirl'snamehere> a little something for Valentine's day since it's right around the corner. NOTHING SERIOUS though since really, we've only just gotten to know each other. Maybe a small box of chocolates or a mixed bouquet... but NOT ROSES... and an amusing card.
You might be able to do Week 3-4 in the same week, and if things go well, possibly even 5 that weekend... then you just keep repeating Week 6 - going on dates - until... well, after a couple dates, we can lay out Next Steps.
I only plan on getting her two gifts the card and a rose. I guess you forgot so fast.:o
Ummm... just so you know... women don't consider cards 'gifts'... they're simply 'cards'.

No not from what I can see.
No I don't follow her home.
I just happen to be more optimistic and think more positive unlike other people here.
There's a difference between being optimistic and positive and being unrealistic, which is what you're being.
Most people are basically polite - especially in situations like in a college class where they're going to see the same person time and time again. Just because she chats nicely with you, doesn't mean she's interested... she's just being nice. That's not saying she wouldn't be interested, it's just that's the way it is.
Planning on buying gifts for someone before you even know their name, much less whether or not they would welcome the gift, is just setting yourself up for trouble.
While there are some here who are clearly making fun at your expense, a number of people are actually giving you good advice and trying to help you make this work.

I am sure anyone would give you a positive, yet secretly embarassed, reaction.
There are plenty of people I deal with day to day, especially at work and at college, who I don't like, think are idiots, or are generally annoyed by. It takes a lot though for me to "fly off" at them.
By your standards of friendship; being well mannered, not arguing or bickering, never being an *******, placating or simply tolerating one's behavior I would probably consider myself "nicer" to my acquintances than friends. Sometimes we bicker, fight, I can be critical or get into arguments. With acquaintances I just don't see the need to expend that kind of energy on them.
There were guys in my religion class who were intolerant idiots, but who cares, I'm never gonna see him again.

I think so many people are making you repeat yourself because of how overly optimistic you are being. You are already planning on what to get her for Valentine's Day, when you haven't even asked her name.
You don't know for 100% if she has a boyfriend, likes you or even likes guys in general. You don't know. Sure, you can hope and be optimistic but you can't possibly know without talking to her.
So why don't you "plan" on that initial step first and then worry about Feb 14 on maybe Feb 7th?

Not everyone was taunting you.
As I said, a number of people were genuinely trying to help you - including me.
You're setting yourself up for trouble if you plan for something like Valentine's Day before you've even really met the girl. And I say met because it doesn't matter how many times you've talked to someone... if you don't know their name, you haven't really met them.
For example, there's a guy who works the security desk at my office that I've been exchanging pleasantries with for 3 months pretty much every work day... occasionally, we talk for a few minutes about weekend plans, how our weekends went, a football game or some other current event. Yet, I don't know his name, nor he mine (at least I don't think so... because he's security, he might). I really haven't met him. I couldn't see him walking down the street a few yards in front of me and call out "Hey ????" because I don't know him... I don't even know his name.
You have no more relationship with this girl than I do with this guy... some might even say less since you've actually chatted with her less.
Do you honestly not understand how you're getting ahead of yourself by even thinking about getting this girl something for Valentine's Day?

I'm not forgetting, nor am I being a crude *******. I realize that you plan on finding out her name. The problem is that you continue to insist on making this plan for Valentine's Day. What I and others are saying is that you shouldn't even have begun to consider that yet. You need to put it aside for the time-being. There are soooo many things that could change between now and then that it's simply unrealistic to make that kind of plan.
Introduce yourself and learn her name.
Go on a 'low-pressure' casual date, like grabbing a coffee/soda together.
Go on at least one, preferably more 'date'-dates, like dinner.
Only after those things happen should you begin to think about giving any kind of gift to a girl... much less a Valentine's gift.
No one is saying that you should expect her to reject you, but you also shouldn't expect her to feel as strongly about you as you seemingly already do about her. It's like two ends of a spectrum. One end is to expect rejection, the other is to expect a 'happily ever after' immediately. You're doing the latter. What I and others are suggesting is that find a medium, where you are positive and hopeful, but not completely unrealistic.

You do realize that in the Colombia you and others couldn't come up with that Baranquilla wasn't safe other than from the media. But I came up with more than just one source. Not only from other people that have been there but a guy that runs a website. The media is the loser again and the people who believed them on Baranquilla to be super dangerous when really it's actually safe. I guess the media likes to spin the truth and lie just like the reporter who said Tom Cruise but ended up getting sued and losing again in this case.

but seriously, why don't you listen to Daisy? she's like a girl and stuff, and she might even be dark haired and of south american decent like you enjoy so much . . .

More or less, do something outside of the classroom.

First you buy her a diamond ring and some filet mignon, then you take her to get coffee... And then you find out her name. Duh! God why is this taking so long to sink in? :whatever:

^ That'd be the smart move
Which is what take her out for coffee?
1. learn her name through an introduction of yourself
2. ask her out for coffee
3. talk about general interests while drinking said coffee or other comparable beverage (I would try to avoid any kind of superhero talk)
that's all you have to worry about so far . . . come back once you've accomplished these steps
