Heres heres a couple pics of my venom mask I'm making. It's still a work in progress but I'll update this thread when it's done.
Heres a pic of the unfinished sculpture early on:
http://i15.tinypic.com/4toxwzn.jpg
Heres a pic of the slightly raised brick pattern I silk screened, pic doesn't really show it off well it's a glossy black not a lighter color than the fabric, it just looks that way when the light hits it right.
http://i9.tinypic.com/4ueqvew.jpg
Heres the mask as it looks now, I've got some work to do on the teeth, the webbing, lenses and a few other adjustments before it's done. The teeth and gums are heavily glossed and wet looking but once again the pics don't really show it. I'll have to get someone else to photograph the finished one for me.

Looks great, what did you cast the undershell in?

Thanks guys. The one on ebay is very nice, I wish I could do an open mouth version like that but I wanted it to be a costume piece that would move with my mouth a bit. This is just a test peice, it was the first time I did silk screening and stuff in years hopefully my next one will look more profesional.
Spiderfan I cast the undershell in latex skinned foam.

Best post by a newbie yet (no offence).
So I'm working on a Venom mask too, and I want mine to have the mouth open also. How did you do silk screening? (Where/how much $?)

Eh. I like Haunt's better. You see, the ebay one, while it looks nice, his head reminds me of an ant-eater. The nose area/mouth are stretched out waaay too far...
Here's what movie venom looks like (head-wise)

Thanks! I did the silk screening myself, I took a course on it back in highschool. It can be pricey to set up. I built the frames myself since I wanted them big enough to do a full suit. PM me and I can give you some better info.
Thanks for the compliments everyone.

You went out of your way to offend his work, that's why. Are you actually so clueless that you don't understand your own insult?

Yeah I'm still undecided on the eyes. It looks like BasketBall shorts (material) but it's very bright, and I like it. I'm sure if I'd rather have the gym shorts, or the metal wired mesh. I'd have to see what the other one would look like.

Same here.
And Haunt- Are you able to see outta the eyes? And for the inner mouth... You gonna cover it up so you don't see your face?

The jersey material for the eyes right now is just what i had lying around, I have a plan for the eyes that will looks much better and allow more definition for the eye shape, but yes you can see quite well from it as is. The mouth is fully covered too, I sculpted it on a generic lifecast and theres a small area cut out for the mouth that is covered by the top set of teeth.

Wow thats really nice work! the only thing that looks a little off to me is the mesh that you used in the eyes. Its a pretty large weave and looks a little man made, but other than that, looks really good!

Thanks Mclean, I'm going to do the next copy with different eyes, I agree about the mesh. Congrats on that spiderman mask auction too! Wow!

GREAT WORK WELL DONE !! after doing my green goblin i can appreciate the hard work and effort you put in to that. for the eye lenses you could do what they did in the movie. it was actually spatter guard mesh. you know the type of thing thats put over a pan to stop splashing andd spattering. well its a very fine metal mesh that you can see through but not into. they are very cheap from kitchen ware shops and may be just the job. either way still a cool mask and i like it more than the ebay one with the stretched face.:woot:
