Yeah, Noc (pronounced "Noach") is a restricted free-agent.

Hear me out, MC, but it might be good if he leaves the Bulls. Then you'd have enough cap space to sign Darko in the $8-10 million range, which is what he's asking for. You remember Darko, right? The guy who dropped 14 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks in your building last season? ****, that game was awesome. Dwight Howard and Darko combined to outrebound the entire Bulls team.:wow::up:

Bucks Not Budging In Yi Saga (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/marty_burns/07/05/yi.bucks/)
"We're not trading him," Harris told SI.com. "We like him and we think this is a great opportunity for him. He'll get a chance to play a lot of minutes right away for a good team. What more could [he] want?"
So far the Bucks haven't heard from Yi at all. They have tried to reach out to him, but his handlers have declined the invitation. Not even a personal letter from Bucks owner Herb Kohl -- who happens to be a U.S. senator -- has been enough to persuade Yi.

Well seeing as the Bulls were the top rebounding team in the East last year, I don't think they need that much help in that respect, especially now with Noah and Thomas as he continues to improve. Its hard to go off one game. I remember when Wallace had a 20 point game last season, you know he isn't that good to be like consistently, it was a fluke. Nocioni, when healthy, is a good, tough player. I would hope the Bulls keep him or trade him, don't just let him sign with another team.

The Bulls don't need the rebounding help, but they do need a guy who can score down low. Darko can do that.
We aren't even having this discussion if Noc didn't get plantar faciatis. That has to concern the Bulls and any other potential suitors.

If Nocioni goes, & Darko comes in. Then it will be worth it. But only if Darko comes in. I will still miss Nocioni though. He is a good hard working player. That doesn't deserve to be lost in the hell that is the Grizziles.

The Cavaliers are going to have to make a tough decision on Anderson Varejao. If he brings back an offer sheet for more than the mid-level exception, they will try to work a sign-and-trade deal for him. Additionally, the Cavs may pursue Morris Peterson.

Peterson didn't do all that bad with the Raptors last season. I did a player comparison and Varejao had the better numbers, but something needs to change.

Kobe the master of covering his ass while saying nothing:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/6996052?MSNHPHMA

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Although he didn't rescind his trade request, Kobe Bryant softened his stance somewhat Thursday night, saying he had apologized to Los Angeles Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak in person for the way he handled his upset feelings five weeks ago.

"I just felt like as a man, it was important for me to tell him, 'I'm sorry it came out that way,"' Bryant said at a lightly attended news conference at Loyola Marymount, where he spoke mainly about his camp for youngsters at the school this week.
Bryant said that while he could have called Kupchak, it was important he speak with him face-to-face.

"I was frustrated, I was venting," Bryant said.

When asked whether he still wanted out, Bryant replied: "I haven't thought about that in a long, long time. I've kind of stepped away from that. I've concentrated on Team USA. What I say is what I say. We'll just have to see where it goes."

The U.S. national team begins practice July 20 in Las Vegas.

Bryant, the NBA's leading scorer the past two seasons, complained about a lack of talent around him at season's end, and said May 30 he wanted to be traded, adding nothing could change his mind.

Despite that request, the Lakers have made clear that trading Bryant isn't in their plans. Bryant is owed $88.6 million over the next four seasons, but could terminate his contract in two years.

The Lakers haven't won a playoff series since reaching the NBA finals in 2004 for the fourth time in five years. With Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal leading the way, they won three straight championships from 2000-02.

O'Neal was traded to Miami in July 2004, a day before Bryant signed a seven-year, $136.4 million contract to remain with the Lakers, who haven't won a playoff series since O'Neal left.

Bryant said he hasn't spoken with Derek Fisher since Monday, when Fisher was released by the Utah Jazz so he can concentrate on finding the best care for his 11-month-old daughter, who has cancer in her left eye.

Fisher said he wants to live in one of the six or seven cities being considered for Tatum's care. Bryant and Fisher were teammates and, from all indications, good friends while playing with the Lakers from 1996-2004 - the first eight seasons of their NBA careers.

Kupchak didn't rule out the possibility of a return to the Lakers for Fisher, who signed with Golden State as a free agent after the 2003-04 season and was later traded to Utah.

Bryant said 450 kids aged 8-to-18 attended his camp.

Just saw that. I knew that was going to have to happen. There was no way the Grizz would put together an offer that would be so big that Pax wouldn't match it and Noc expressed no interest in going to Memphis.

Orlando can still keep Darko if they move some salaries. Turkoglu's skills chair the department of redundancy department in Orlando now that Lewis is there. Goodbye. Toss in Arroyo to somebody who can give them back a non-guaranteed contract and bingo - almost $10 mil for Darko.

The Bulls still have the mid-level exception and by not retaining P.J. Brown and maybe jettisoning Duhon, might be able to get Darko in Chicago. I prefer him over Joe Smith, who was in town recently.

Mister J
07-08-2007, 02:26 PM
Isn't that a question better asked of Mrs. Riley? :o
HIYOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Williams would be an upgrade, but in all likelihood, he's going to run more than the MLE. If that lessens the probability of getting some help in the frontcourt, I think it's wasteful. Miami just needs a PG that can handle the ball, trigger the offense and knock down an open shot. Williams' price tag seems like overkill, especially seeing as how His Wadeness will be running the show and creating in the clutch. The need for a small forward is a more pressing one. Whether they get it done in the offseason or via trade later on, I don't care, but a quality PG isn't going to fix everything.

How are your guys' favorite teams doing in summer league?

The Wizards lost today against the Kings 64-75. Nick Young (first rounder this year) seemed to be sharing everybody else's first game jitters, shotting pretty badly. But he is really athletic, has got a good handle and can create separation. Dominic McGuire (second rounder this year) showed a lotta promise and talent. He was really active both offensively and defensively. Oleksiy Pecherov (first rounder last year) has a good shot, but seemed to be parking out on the perimeter. Decent rebounder though.

Also, Juan Carlos Navarro (40th pick in the 2002 draft) is finally going to playing in the NBA next year. Supposedly the best eligible guard not playing the NBA right now. He might not be playing for the Wizards though, cause he's getting shopped along with Etan Thomas and that hideous contract of his to a number of teams (Memphis (he's friends with Pau Gasol), Miami and the Cavs are a few of them).

"Pritchard said he was pleased with the Francis buyout, which is believed to be around $30 million. The Blazers negotiated a 50 percent offset in the deal, meaning the team will get 50 percent cap relief from whatever Francis earns in the next two years. It is believed Francis will sign a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Clippers, probably for around $1 million this year and around $5 million next season. That means the Blazers will save about $3 million."

I doubt the Spurs will miss Butler that much. And they still have Splitter in Brazil, so I don't think they'll miss Scola. At worst, it's a lateral move. When you're the Champions of the World, you can afford to make lateral moves.

bananafish
07-13-2007, 05:32 AM
Scola is supposed to be a pretty decent PF/C prospect. And is possibly going to come to the NBA this year. No source for that, just from reading other boards. And on RealGM, most on the Rockets board are guessing if Scola does indeed come over, he'd be their starting PF. So for a guy (Spanoulis, what with Mike James, Aaron Brooks, Rafer Alston and even John Lucas III) that was on the fringes of even being on the team, that's a pretty sweet deal.

The Riddler
07-13-2007, 04:03 PM
scola is known as one if not the best player not playing in the nba. scola plays on the same team oberto, ginobili and splitter play(ed) on and he is better than oberto and splitter.

also, butler is still really young and can grow into a backup role behind yao.

vassilis spanoulis is never playing in america again, and so this was a money, roster clearing move by the spurs.

the move is incredibly one sided since it just gives a division rival their biggest need for essentially nothing in return.

That Blake news hurt me. I think Mo Williams would have signed with the Heat by now if it were going to happen. The numbers aren't close (I've even read where the Bucks upped their offer to 6Y/51M) so it's a simple matter of whether you want to get paid or have a chance to compete. I think he's just trying to jack up the offer from Milwaukee and Option #2 just signed with Portland.
****. Looks like we'll be running pretty much the same roster from last year until (hopefully) the trading deadline.

It is a wait and see kinda deal. Depends on hunger and effort, which has been a toss-up since this current incarnation was put together. That 'we'll turn it on when needed' **** can't fly anymore. Outside of that, there are a couple of holes and I am/was hoping to see at least one get filled before the season starts.

Moving on, let's consider the Hornets starting five next season, ignoring the inevitable injuries of course...

Chris Paul
Morris Peterson
Peja Stojakovic
David West
Tyson Chandler

Oh man, that lineup makes me want to hug strangers. Throw Hilton Armstrong, Julian Wright, Rasual Butler, Bobby Jackson and Cedric Simmons into the mix, and we could be on to something here.

seriously, the hornets look good on paper, but peja may not be the peja of old and morris peterson is a nice player, but nothing that will significantly alter the team's future.

if peja is peja, and peterson contributes more than marginally, they will be a playoff team.

Seems like NBA news has been pretty slow. The only real "blockbuster" signing that happened was Rashard Lewis going to Orlando. Any updates on Garnett and Kobe's situation?

And what in the world made Fisher want to go back to L.A.? Granted he's a decent defender that frustrates the offense, he can make key shots, and is a player with a big heart that shows in his play. L.A. is going to need more than him to even think about getting to the championship.

I will say had L.A. kept Fisher when they faced Phoenix in 2006 they would've won the series for sure. Fisher is the type of defender that can slow down and frustrate the quicker and more athletic point guards.

Here is a video of an historic NBA moment.

I don't know. Under the right coaching staff Francis could be a great player. He would have to accept that he might have to come off the bench with Miami.

I've always liked Francis and I believe that he has great talent, it's his ego that taints the great talent he has in my opinion. You know Pat Riley wouldn't take much of the crap Francis tries to start, so it's safe to say he would get a quick attitude adjustment under Riley.

Tyrus has alot of energy. I think right now is only problem is his inability to control that energy. I could see a Noah Thomas combo down the road. I mean Noah is 7 ft. He could be a center if need be.

Well if he has added that mid-range jumper and can hit it with some consistency then its pretty much only a matter of time until he starts. If he is that good, then I don't he needs to worry about competing for time with Noah or Smith. Hell Noah could probably play back up for both forward positions and center if need be, so he will have his time without taking any or a little away from Tyrus.

Personally if Thomas shows he is that good during pre season, I would rather have him start the season in the starting lineup, and have Smith back up.

:csad:

What's wrong with Smush? Sure, he may be a bit on the inconsistent side. But give him some quality playing time he can be good. He can shoot, is very quick, and plays some pretty good defense. I feel he never got the time he deserved simply because Kobe couldn't put his ego aside.

Mister J
07-16-2007, 08:47 PM
Parker strikes me as an ass who believes he's better than he actually is. He's had his moments, but he's also looked lost far too often. He imploded in the '06 playoffs against the Suns and wasn't worth anything them in '07. His sniping back and forth with Phil didn't do him any good either. Playing in the backcourt with the Viper will cramp your game a bit, but this guy seems to be an average talent at best. I really couldn't put him in the top half of PGs in the league.

I think Skiles should start Tyrus, & Noah in the beginning, & let Smith, & Wallace coach those two. Noah could play Center, & Tyrus PF. If they develope the way Tyrus seems to, & if Noah's skills equal is pick posistion. Noah, & Tyru could be a potent middle in a few years.

But Wallace, & Smith need to take on the teacher role. Smith I think would be cool with that. Wallace I am no sure he would be down with being the second guy.

I have to disagree with starting Noah. I just don't know what to expect from him, and neither does anyone else really. From the reports, Tyrus has really improved from last year and if you remember during the last season he had to earn his playing time over the entire year. He still makes mistakes and turnovers, just watch some of the Detroit series for that, but he has made a lot of strides and earned his playing time. Noah will have to do the same, can't just hand him the starter's role. Right now we can't judge him because we really have nothing to judge him on. Wallace can still help Noah out, he doesn't have to be back up to do that. By mid-season we should know more.
