Reporters...Interviewers... Can they start asking the right questions???

Not everyone will think I'm on point with this but I feel strongly enough to debate if I must.

I am getting tired of the same old questions that get asked. Rather than just asking "Will there be a sequel?" can they bother to get fans views into the questions? All I see is a$$ kissing going on during interviews. "Oh hey Bryan, we love SR it's flawless no matter what anyone says. Is the sequel going to be started on soon?" A question like that does not get anything across nor does it leave an opening for a valid answer. Why not try getting into more specifics? Such as "Fans weren't happy with Lex doing a real estate scheme again. Are you open to setting up Lexcorp for the sequel?" or "Fans seemed to feel SR lacked a physically threatening villain. Do you think bringing in Brainiac and Metallo will satisfy the majority of the fanbase?"

Not saying my questions are perfect but God knows I'm sick of how questions are asked in regards to MOS, and what questions are being asked that leave the opening for a standard answer. Get the majority view out there WHILE asking the question at least. Stop puckering up to the booty :rolleyes:

I know...i read an interview where a reporter told singer he heard reports of people clapping at the sr teaser and hwas like thats great, that was the idea...when in reality, it sucked and got supes no buzz whatsoever!

I like SR. I'm not a reporter but my view as a reporter would be that it's not my job to like what I'm reporting about, so asking the right questions, and asking those questions in the RIGHT way is the key to a good interview.

one question id like asked is "hey Bryan Superman Returns was terrible you plan on actually making a good movie with the sequel?" then "or a good movie in general because dude you haven't had a good one since Usual Suspects! Xmen sucked, and X2 was just bleh!"

I assume only fanboys would ask such detailed questions. The typical tv interviewer knows zero to nothing about the projects or even the people they're talking to but what they get told by their station beforehand.
They also usually ask these vague questions 'cause Average Joe viewers wouldn't understand it anyway. Those interviews are more like cheap publicity to get the word out on a project. No details needed.

I was actually thinking of iesb and moviehole type reporters as well. Heck even the big Superman fan site reporters. Yeah they love and want to support the character but I'm not liking the lack of depth to their questioning.

Where did you get that from my post? I like SR. I only say it's worth asking relevant questions even if you get a "no comment" answer simply to get more of the fan's opinions across. You never know, someone might slip something out if even just a hint. Of course you didn't want a civil answer, you wanted me to respond back in the same manner to you. Sorry to fail that sir :)

Your whole original post is about pointing out the flaws in SR in order to get info about the sequel. Interviewers never start an interview by saying, "This, this, and this sucked, now how are you gonna fix it?" I'm not saying that we can't discuss the movie's flaws, but the truth of the matter is that bringing those flaws up to those involved in the project in order to get info out of them is just plain stupid.

WB is one of the problems here. I'm pretty sure that if you were to do an interview over SRII, that irregardless of what wants to be asked, only questions that involve a 'positive' answer will allowed to be asked etc.

The fact that this is going on is an indication that there is a dislike for the film:

"Oh hey Bryan, we love SR it's flawless no matter what anyone says. Is the sequel going to be started on soon?"

There is no reason to say that unless there is a pre-existing large general consensus out there.

Well Nolan is that way. His is quoted as saying when some reporter mentioned the tight lipped-ness on this film that he is doing that so that people will find out the plot of the film by watching it. Whereas the WB isn't saying anything on SR.

Even liking the film (though it's not perfect I admit) I find myself getting VERY annoyed with the lack of an objective viewpoint coming across from any so called reporter or interviewer. So many things can be improved upon for a sequel yet nobody is speaking up for the majority of the fanbase :confused: *sigh* It sadly is feeling like the old Burton/McG/Ratner days :down

Also if we aren't seeing any positive info coming out I'll be joining the "reboot" fans pretty soon. :mad: I like Routh, he's awesome. I like Singer too, he's talented. But what I like most of all and what comes first is the character of Superman. Somehow the reason we are all fans, the character himself Superman, has has been getting lost between people who are split on SV or split on SR.

I said to be more objective in what questions are asked and how they are asked. Even if you don't get an answer it is good for the fans to get certain things across.

These people don't have the same objectives as the fans. The thing is, Alan Horne doesn't traditionally do press conferences (and he is really the only one who can shed light on this).

- lacking action?
- borrowing too much from Richard Donner?
- the conundrum of the super kid?
- the new super suit?

- Lex having to become a petty swindler?
- superman leaving earth for 5 years?

While I don't agree with all of your criticism's I personally would still find that MUCH more compelling and an example of GOOD journalism than the "Singer you did everything right, I'm not gay but I can learn" interviewing style :rolleyes:

I remember Bryan Singer looked like a deer caught in head lights lol He started talking, and sounded like he had down syndrome!

I think this is when the WB noticed that he wasn't the right guy... I don't care what he says I don't think the WB will greenlight a sequel with him as director.

If anything he will end up as a producer to a future semi-sequel with maybe Brandon, and Spacey returing but with an entire new writing team coming in with a new director.

I would hope they just did a total reboot!
